Let's go on a walk down memory lane together, shall we?

I, Pom, am doing a little research into Sun & Moon, because well, this is FNAF. The ghosts-inside-robots series. I am mildly concerned that the robot has a ghost inside it that I should really, really, know about.

Alright, I say. In a spin-off, there is a hypothetical Dad Moon. And so, I read Somniphobia. And then, I draw silly shitposts bc thats what I do.

Ok I really like the idea that some people have that after the events of tftpp somniphobia Sam goes on to become the sun daycare attendant but i raise something to go along with this. Jules becomes suns handler in help wanted 2 and that’s why suns so sassy with him this is not a theory just a funny idea

And then this sprung another silly idea for an au in witch I am dubbing welcome to the daycare in which Jules gets stuck as the moondrop animatronic after an accident while the pizza plex is re opening after the events of ruin (also in this au fazbear while fixing up the old animatronics decide to give each daycare attendant counter part thier own body)

the not real is the video game form. HOWEVER. they are equivalent to the 3 layers of the mind (the conscious, preconscious, and the unconscious) and layer 4 being the rough equivalent of a bad acid trip.

(which is sad because until he confronts that he's going to be stuck there in his dreams every night. and layer 3 is CLINGYYYYY - aka he struggles to wake up and reorient himself afterwards)

Just like many others, I have created my own Undertale-AU, let's call it Somnitale for now. I created Somni during my Highschool Phase were I had severe Somniphobia and tried to cope by creating a character similar to my situation back then. Long story short: Somni (Sans) has suffered through many Genocide-Runs, the thought of Chara and Frisk haunting his mind even while he's asleep. Being plagued by nightmares and sleep-paralysis', he started forcing himself to stay awake while also starting to take some advice to heart and start training as well to not only have 1 HP just to make sure that he'll survive even if he falls asleep by accident. Causes of sleep deprivations: Illusions, Delusions, Micro-Sleep and depersonalization. Somni starts hallutionating that the human hurt him, feeling the pain and horror while others around him can't seem to understand why he's in sudden pain. Due to his lack of sleep, he started loosing his bright blue color, it having turned into a deep purple. Papyrus is worrying of course, knowing that he's forcing himseld to stay awake - that's why he had crafted Somni two dreamcatchers, that Somni always carries around his neck just to give himself some spark of hope. Somniphobia (but my Au in 5 sentences or less)

Somniphobia: Sam used to be a regular at the Pizzaplex, spending his time in the Daycare center he loved to hang around with his very best friends. But his age as well as the death of his father set him in an entirely different perspective in general. So when he comes back to the Pizzaplex for a friend, Sam is more than careful around the constant germs and unsavory foods around him. But as he walks into the Daycare center, unnerved by the bright lights, toddlers screaming, and dangerous play structures he's recognized by a familiar animatronic. An animatronic that would surely test his cautious and introverted nature.

Pressure: Luca has always been pressured to do whatever anyone wanted. He never had a say even when he hung out with people he considered his ‘friends’. Going into the Pizzaplex, Luca pleased much of everyone as always up until he met a certain worker. Luis is what Luca considers to be an optimistic soul who never saw the bad in anyone. So when Luis offered Luca a golden bunny suit to wear, Luca didn't feel pressure at all, so he wore the suit without any problem at all.

Cleithrophobia: Grady is a technician that can't help himself to get annoyed at the mechanics of the Pizzaplex he worked at. He swears to God, whenever he feels like he finally fixed a problem, something even worse has to come up. Other technicians complain as well but keep it to themselves so that they wouldn't get fired from the Pizzaplex. But something was up with these glitches, Grady was sure of it, but he couldn't find the virus responsible for it. But he knows if he finds it he’ll do everything in his power to get rid of it once and for all.

???: There wasn't much Sun can do as his friend was long gone and the more that he hides him the more the smell worsens. He doesn't want to do it but Moon tells him they have no choice and that this is the only way to bring their friend back. Traveling down, the jester uneasily comes up to the creature from the pit below. He gives one last hug to his friend before throwing him in, the body disappearing into the darkness and an inhumane screech following alongside it. Even with Moon’s reassurance, Sun feels as if he's made the worst mistake in his life.

okay... even though no one asked, i have a ton of Blind Faith AU headcanons that I've been stewing on

First and foremost, Stan never gets any of his vision back. burns like that are extremely debilitating.

Stan would rather die than admit it, but he hates fire with a (burning) passion.

Stan's eyebrows never really grow back.

Ford has an unfixable stutter and unshakeable paranoia, so he will not talk to anyone he does not have to. Period.

Both of them are prone to equally terrible anxiety and flashbacks.

Ford is VERY trigger happy!

Both of have intense codependency problems and separation anxiety

One of Stan's worst long-running fears is losing something important (due to his blindness and his nomadic lifestyle).

Ford starts going gray VERY early due to the stress he experienced in the Cave.

Ford is secretly relieved that Stan will never see his tattoos.

The Cave made Ford's somniphobia a thousand times worse.

Ford helps Stan shave :D

Learning how to navigate blindness while in a wilderness dimension was not easy for Stan, especially while he was still healing.

Ford managed to take care of Stan in the few months after they escaped from the Cave, despite how taxing it was on his fragile mental stability.

Hiii I made a small intro for the shadow moon phenomenon AU!

Text: Shadow moon and Sun light are inspired by book characters! Namely, the Moon hologram from Somniphobia and the “dream” Sun from Alone Together. :)

[Shadow Moon is] an agent of chaos that enjoys pranking others or setting them up for failure, EX. he will leave the infamous moon globe in the reach of teenagers or will mimic voices to trick others

[Sun Light] enjoys Moon’s pranks and is often a partner-in-crime to his antics, is more inclined to interact with stray spirits, and is mostly intangible otherwise.

I want to take a moment to say that I have no schedule!! Anything I make towards this AU may be few and far in between and will happen at random, not for lack of trying. As you may remember the results for the Sun Light poll ended multiple days ago and I’m just now posting this lol. Most of the content will be drawings and maybe an odd drabble! Again, I don’t think I could update a long-form fic consistently.

Whatever content I DO end up making will mostly follow the lines of episodic shenanigans that may or may not have an overarching plot! I currently don’t have much of a plan story wise. That may change! This was mostly inspired by the “two asshole pixies that keep telling children that they’re the chosen ones, sending each to their doom in a bad effort to find the actual chosen one” post that I cannot find for the life of me. I do plan to explain what exactly these two are in said content though, so I don’t want to answer any specific questions about *what* they are until that gets revealed properly!

I did not make the design for shadow moon! I stole him from a twitter post that claimed an edit of moon dubbed “shadow moon” appeared in HW2 for interaction bait.

• Stanley, Stanford, Mabel, and Dipper are all Autistic! Mabel and Stanley (Stan) are more bad with social rules rather than social cues and where Stanley is short-tempered, Mabel is easily upset. Dipper and Stanford (Ford) are bad with social cues, really smart, have special interests (ford - supernatural, Dipper - astronomy and the Unknown), and more anxious.

• Pronouns and identity HCs for the Pines family are as follows;

Stanley: Any; Cassgender (masc lenient), Bisexual.

Stanford: He/They; Demiboy, Unlabeled sexuality and romantic identity (can’t find the right label for himself), dates pretty much any gender/being.

Dipper: He/They/It; Transmasc w/ non-binary tendencies, Quioromantic (romance confuses him and he’s bad with it), Omnisexual (fem pref), Demisexual

Mabel: She/They/Glitter/Cat/any sparkly or cat-related xenopronouns; Xenohoarder (mostly cat related and glitter related, will make a list eventually), Pansexual.

• Full disability list minus the Pines having autism; Stan has anger issues, addiction issues (drinks and smokes a lot, not around the kids though), PTSD and a hint of schizophrenia from the memory gun. On the topic of the memory gun, Fidds! Fiddleford has PTSD, memory loss, schizophrenia from the memory gun, temporary memory relapses, ADHD, and fainting spells. Ford has PTSD but gets affected differently, addiction issues (caffeine. No, seriously, it’s an issue), mild somniphobia (fear of sleep) from past Bill issues, schizophrenia, su1c1d@l tendencies (canon), Hyperthymesia (super memory), social anxiety (mostly dealt with, still gets anxious sometimes and has panic attacks), and polydactyl (his sixth finger). Soos has Down syndrome, motor skill issues, sensory processing disorder, and dyslexia. Wendy (who won’t be mentioned much) has BPD, mild social anxiety, and ODD. Dipper has generalized anxiety disorder (canon, actually), mild depression, PTSD, OCD, SPD like soos, and a fear of failure. Mabel has ADHD, depression, fear of change, attachment issues, PTSD, and SPD. Bill has ASPD (antisocial personality disorder), anger issues, hallucinations, PTSD, depression, phobias (canon), insanity (canon), conduct disorder, autism, DID (will explain when asked), and a bit of SPD.

• Bill went through the theraprism in this RP AU (the au this rp comes from that I created) but is still very much mentally unstable. Has a bit of handyman au inspo where he does live and work at the shack but he isn’t stuck there. He is triangle but has a human form that he despises, his powers are limited no matter the form, and he’s prone to fainting spells if he uses too much power at once. Soos and Melody trust him cause they were the ones who found him, but the others are kinda weary still. Including Ford.

I see that this place reaches across the multiverse, and for this purpose, I must clarify I’m from Dimension 64209 - stop laughing! I don’t do- wait I can’t say that. I don’t do anything more serious than caffeine, let’s put it that way! And my consumption isn’t excessive in the slightest given my circumstances. Sure, I’m shaking a lot, and my heart feels like it could burst out of my chest any second, but Bill can enter my mind any time I fall asleep, so if this keeps me awake for four days straight and keeps me from sleeping for too long, that’s truly a blessing!

What is your opinion on the books hinting that Moon shouldn't have existed but the Faz-pads most expensive menu items is moon themed? And the posters, plushies, and the infamous sphere? I loved your other 'rant' (for lack of a better term in my sleep deprived mind) and it got me thinking...

I’m guessing you mean the Moon that appears in The Bobbiedots who was originally built to be the “dark side” of Sun and once worked as a theatre animatronic?

Okay spoilers for The Bobbiedots, Somniphobia and Security Breach and some rambling thoughts ahead:

In short, I think the books’ canon (even from one book to another like say Bobbiedots and Somniphobia) and the games’ canon are more like AUs of each other than anything else, so basically different explanations will be given in different stories to fit that book or game in particular. So, Bobbiedots Moon wasn’t meant to exist in the daycare, but it looks like Security Breach Moon was. That said, I LOVE exploring the different versions of Moon and how he’s used in different stories, so if anyone wants to take the long scenic route with me, here we go!

Bobbiedots Moon

Theatre kid extraordinaire. A little too committed to the bit. Bobbiedots Moon doesn’t fit in his world - not in the daycare anyway. In The Bobbiedots, they’re busy dealing with an evil apartment. They don’t have time for poor Moon, no matter how badly he wants them to sleep.

Bobbiedots Moon feels like a bit of a throwback to the animatronics in Sister Location who had all these “interesting” design choices, like a stomach hatch for storing children (which totally wasn’t going to be used for evil, come on guys …).

In Moon’s case, he’s so good at being a pantomime villain (which is what he was made for from what we can tell - who bets he got booed because the kids wanted the sun to come back up and when the lights went out they’d fake snore and he’d go hunting down the naughty ones who couldn’t help but laugh?) that he’s no good in the daycare (personally I think the staff just weren’t imaginative enough in that universe to do naptime, or to appreciate the charm of a weird clown telling off wobbling toys for not sleeping when his recognition sensors inevitably failed him because they couldn’t be bothered to fix their broken animatronics). And he’s easy to exploit because he’s so committed to his role.

I don’t think Moon was evil by default when he worked at the theatre - at least not beyond his villainous role. He had an audience of probably more people than he could grab, and I’m guessing Freddy’s wanted repeat performances so their customers would keep coming back. Did he kidnap a child or two when the lights went out and everyone was confused? Maybe, if he was virus-riddled enough. Did he become a lot more unstable when he and Sun were moved to the daycare? Probably, but it’s not his fault he was an afterthought in a cheapo organisation that seems to think using precariously-placed backup generators is a better solution to their problems.

Security Breach Moon

Meanwhile, the Security Breach version of Moon has a TON of merch, a dish at the restaurant (Masa-Moondrop curry, yum! 💖 By the way, I totally recommend checking out this recipe ), and even his own little candy adverts. He’s on a statue, balloons, plushies, and even on the daycare pass right next to Sun. It would take a LOT of accidental advertising to put Moon all over the place if he wasn’t supposed to exist in Security Breach.

I think that, unlike the Bobbiedots Moon, Security Breach Moon was supposed to exist. Like you said, he’s got merch everywhere. It’s a big deal. And Moon’s merch matches all of Sun’s merch, so to me it makes sense that in the backstory of the game’s universe they both had a friendly role to play (I can’t imagine why they’d make a Moon plush with no one to hug him. The thought makes me sad. It also seems like a bad business move on their part so I’m opting to believe he was originally meant to be a friend to the kids).

But it looks like things took a turn at some point (as they so often do in the FNAF universe), as Security Breach also has the cheapo lighting in place, and Sun is pretty adamant that we don’t wake up Moon. And in this case it’s pretty clear that Moon has been infected by the Afton virus. He sounds like a bot with just one thing on his mind: putting you to bed at all costs.

Moon is a major player as far as the evil Afton operation goes in the game too. They picked a perfect bot to do their dirty work. He’s super strong - he knocked out Freddy and dragged him away with no problems. He’s also super agile - he can navigate all the tight twists and turns in the Daycare with relative ease (I pointedly ignore the version in my game while I make this statement as he seemed to spend most of his time getting stuck in the tunnels and slides kekeke). And he always seems to know where you are - the Glamrocks wander until they have you in their sights, but Moon makes a beeline for you the moment he can get his hands on you even if you’re inside Freddy’s stomach compartment. He works in the dark when no one can see him coming. He’s basically the perfect replacement for the night staff and makes it a million times easier to capture wayward kids.

There are also a lot of hints in the game that suggest that Security Breach Moon might have actually been reprogrammed to respond this way, and/or that he was used to reprogram the others.

The back areas with the endos are FULL of Moon merch, advertising, and so on. There are also a lot of posters teaching the animatronic endos how to behave, as well as a little room that looks a LOT like a little replica of the daycare play area. I’m pretty sure that this is where the animatronics (or at least the virus-riddled endos) were reprogrammed to capture children - maybe including Moon.

(There are a million things I could say about this poster and how it bears a strong resemblance to a bunch of things from earlier games but that’s for another time and another ramble …)

Somniphobia Moon

Meanwhile, over in Somniphobia, we have Moondrop’s dream sphere, where Moon ponders his orb, or perhaps his new friends who are now trapped inside it forever since it seems like he’s been stealing more than a few souls over there.

The dream sphere is not mentioned in The Bobbiedots or seen in Security Breach as far as I can tell. Whether it exists or not in those universes is open to interpretation, but it serves a clever purpose in Somniphobia. In this book, our favourite uncanny night jester spends his time luring unsuspecting victims into the dreamscape slowly without them realising. The protagonist actually has a few opportunities to escape the pull of the orb, but he just can’t put the dream sphere down because it takes him back to his favourite memories with his (now dead) father, and it makes their time together feel so real.

The dream sphere is advertised as a study guide, and it’s popular with older kids and teens. (Moon has the range). Our regular chase-you-down-and-force-you-to-sleep Moon is nowhere to be found in Somniphobia (whether he exists at the plex in the daycare or anywhere else in that universe is anybody’s guess) and instead we have sweet little Moondrop from the dream sphere who doesn’t speak but will let you see your wildest dreams. At the cost of your mind, which is now going to live in a sphere I guess or be harvested.

Can you befriend the little Moondrop from the dream sphere? Does he know he’s part of a creepy soul-stealing operation? The book doesn’t really say, but if he’s anything like most of the other animatronic/AI characters in the FNAF universe, I’d be willing to wager he’s just doing his job (showing people what they want to see) and being used as a prop for more nefarious soul-snatching schemes. (Curse you Fazbear Entertainment for giving us this funny little guy in a magic snowglobe and making him steal our souls along with our hearts!)

Conclusion

Essentially, I think Moon is being used in basically all the universes he appears in because he’s so perfectly built for capturing and retrieving wayward souls, but the way he’s being used differs a little between universes. In some universes it’s just not as convenient to have him showing up in front of a large audience thanks to his programming, but when the lights inevitably go out he has a tendency to show up nonetheless!
