The Parents in a Ray Bradbury Story

Mother: Darling, the children are building a giant robot in the garden

Father: Those little scamps. What will they come up with next?

Mother: It has red eyes and seems to be regarding us with a general air of malice. There's something very unsettling about the whole display.

Father: Yes, that is a little troubling. The children are being very fresh these days, with their giant menacing robots and their alien invasion games and their virtual reality lions and those knives they keep fooling around with.

Mother: Very fresh indeed. And not to mention, little Hogarth got very short with me at the dinner table last night.

Father: Dreadful business. We shall have to take them to task one of these days. Still, probably nothing to worry about.

Mother: Probably not, no. Although the robot has just fired a lazer blast from its eyes and set fire to a tree.

Father: Good heavens, are those my power tools they're using to touch up that robot? This is the last straw. Hogarth! Shirleyanne! Ferret! All of you come inside this instant. I want a word with you.

Mother: Now the children are all giggling and making throat-cutting gestures at us. And the robot appears to be striding purposefully towards our house.

Father: I'm getting the distinct impression that perhaps we shouldn't have let it get to this.

I think it needs to be said in light of VERY recent events that violence on the MAGA front is about to increase tenfold. They will see this as permission to carry out the violence they've been promising since day one. Don't fearmonger, just keep yourselves and your families wary. Please stay safe out there, americans.

I knew that Bruce was full of anger as a young teen, always starting fights at school, but I learnt today that he also:

Burnt his teacher's front yard after being asked a question that triggered him.

Was obsessed with toy guns and wanted to go gun down criminals, which led to Gordon taking him on a trip to Arkham (not as a prisoner, but as a "Wanna finish like this???")

Poisoned a classmate and locked him in the boiler room to die (he didn't and Bruce was expelled) after Alfred told him to be less physical and more smart at stopping bullying.

And this was before he was 15. People must have thought he was going to become a serial killer.

Anyway, I need fics where his kids learn this OR have to deal with "violence is not the question, it's the answer" small Bruce.

I think I’m crazy for noticing how Connor and Haytham both have habits of clasping their hands together but Haytham’s is usually behind his back, guarded, commanding authority and respect while Connor’s are clasped together in front of him. Like he’s shy, yet far more open, also quite guarded but willing to reach out and help someone.

Babies can die if they don’t have enough physical contact. This is something that is known, but Talia does not have time to spend with her twins, and it’s not like she carried them thanks to the false Lazarus womb, so she didn’t even have that excuse to use. 

What she did have, was a near braindead teen who could be taught things through muscle memory. 

Which is how Jason ended up caring for a pair of toddlers between any training, even after his dip in the Pit. Well, he cared for them until he left for Gotham, to enact his plans, even if he continued to call them every week. 

But that wasn’t enough for little Damian and Danyal.

Where had their caretaker gone? Away from them? Where is Baba? Across the sea? Unacceptable. They will not stand for this! 

Which in turn, is how Jason discovers his the twins outside his safehouse window, having somehow made it to Gotham on their own- what the fuck, kids!?

you know what? like, no, actually, i don't want to see endless reblogs of gifs of people punching nazis with trite comments underneath like "likes charge reblogs cast" or "here's some positive cleansing energy for your blog". actually i want to know what concrete steps you're going to take to support the vulnerable people in your life, because personally, just a hot take here, but i actually believe that it's more important to care for people and act out of love and compassion than it is to act out of hatred and idolize violence. not that anyone would care about this. i swear it's all just some fantasy where people are so excited they finally get to be violent because they actually only care about getting to be the oppressors and have their turn as the boot on someone's neck.

I’ve been re-listening to the audiobook for Assassin’s Quest the past few nights and finally came to the scene featuring the only character in the series that has ever mattered: Small Ferret. Master Spy, Master Assassin, Master of Stealth: If he had found some way to sexually satisfy Molly, Small Ferret would have succeeded in doing everything that Fitz failed at.
