This year marks the 100 year anniversary of the Nome serum run. After recently reading the book, The Cruelest Miles, documenting the sled dog relay, I wanted to draw Leonhard Seppala's lead dog—Togo. Leonhard and his team traversed the farthest distance and conquered some of the most hazardous terrain.

When choosing a word for the year, "indomitable" stood out from the plaque dedication to the sled dogs found on the statue of Balto in New York City's Central Park.

With the way the world is going...I want to be un-tameable, un-subduable. To endure the long race. To conquer the hazards of life.

Arcane Daemon AU? Yeah. @inja-y-ddraig and I were talking, so here’s the headcanons for the main crew

I think Mel’s daemon could always wander away from her, they just didn’t try. Any mage’s daemon isn’t distance bound to their human. After their infinite embrace in the Arcane Jayce and Viktor touch each other’s daemons freely without feeling any weird recoil

Additional. Isha’s daemon is often a bunny, but also changes to a dragonfly to match Jinx. Vander’s was a Caucasian Ovcharka (disappeared after his first death, sort of fused with him). Silco’s a thorny devil. Sevika’s a ram.

Vastaya have no daemons, they are fused essentially

Here's something to celebrate about.

It's the 100 year anniversary of the Diphtheria Sled Dog Run.

aka the story the movie Balto was about (although he lead the last leg of the run, Togo's team did the most dangerous part of it.)

I think we should make it a new tumblr holiday.

Why? They were all good dogs who should be honored, everything sucks and we need some joy, and it's a good reason to eat cake.

since i'm back on my x-men bullshit: One underrated subplot in x-men first class is to me the way Charles, Hank, and Raven are totally fine experimenting on themselves (Cerebro, the serum Hank creates) and Erik - the person who has actually been experimented on in the most horrific circumstances imaginable - frequently going "can you...maybe not???"

Wait ok I'm not knowledgeable on anything Wilson family. Slade drugs Rose???

yeah <///3 before tt03 they had met like once ever (and it went poorly) so to get rose on his side slade injected her with a super soldier serum

in #0.5 he kidnaps her after buying a hit on her (many such cases) and goes "cmon rose we can be a family lets be a family <3333" and she agrees (because shes angry and slade is the one handing her a weapon to kill the man that killed her mother)

then theyre on the same side for a while! the first time we hear about the serum (and iirc only time its specifically mentioned while shes being drugged) is in #12 (BART 🥺)

we also see some flashbacks in fresh hell of slade giving her the serum too

anyways then she joins the team and everything is alright (lie). this is the first confirmation that she was being drugged, plus also showing that shes staying on the team just bc shes afraid slade will get her again :(

in any story that takes place from 2003-2006 that includes rose & slade (bg #63-64, nightwing #112-115, etc), rose is being drugged :(

basically the writers needed an explanation for why she would choose to work with slade and wanted an excuse for why she would be able to join the titans later on and honestly? rare johns banger. this plotline fucks to me. completely defines rose's relationship with slade and gives her a concrete reason to hate him but also have very complicated feelings about her place in his life ouuughhhh

but in conclusion slade sucks so heres some panels of rose beating him up

I so badly want to write some type of scenario where Adam consumes truth serum but I’m indecisive about the specifics. I feel like whether I write it into a longer fic or as a Drabble or when it’s set in the timeline of the books, the thing that can be counted on is him spilling the excessively horny thoughts he has about all three of his best friends.

Today is a very special and memorable day for me. It was a century ago, in the harsh winter of 1925, a group of brave mushers and their heroic sled dogs raced against time to deliver life-saving diphtheria serum to Nome, Alaska. Facing blizzards, subzero temperatures, and treacherous terrain, these teams covered over 600 miles in just five and a half days, preventing a deadly epidemic and cementing their place in history.

Today marks the day those brave men and their loyal canines begun their journey, one we today call the "Great Race of Mercy" and we honor the courage, endurance, and teamwork of these unsung heroes—both human and canine. Their legacy lives on, not just in the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race but in the enduring spirit of resilience and determination that defines the Last Frontier.

Here's to the Nome Serum Run—100 years of heroism, sacrifice, and the unbreakable bond between humans and their loyal dogs. As always, I am honored to join the Iditarod, which, while not running the same path of glory, tests us mushers through the tough conditions those brave souls faced 100 years ago.
