Rewatched The Ring the other day, the American remake that came out in like 2003 when I was eleven. It scared me so so so so so badly as a child, so naturally I watched it over and over again with my best friend until I had the movie memorized. Turns out I still pretty much have it on lock. God, that is maybe the most green-toned movie ever made.

Anyway, as a preteen, to overcome the sheer terror that movie provoked in me, I had two main strategies. The first one is that I would imagine Samara trying to come out of very small or inconveniently placed TVs. The second is that I basically forced myself to get a crush on Samara. I was like (in an eleven year old way so the phrasing was slightly different but not by much) “I will stop being scared about this if I get horny about this.” And by god it sure fucking worked. I coulda fixed her.
