I hate it but I’m actually lowkey obsessed with the show Tracker. I also hate that I find the MC attractive. Like….he looks like your generic action star white man, but by god does he fill his shirts out. And the show is queer friendly.
Now, I’ve never read the books, so I don’t know if they’re good or not or how loosely inspired the show is from them, but I genuinely enjoy this show and got sucked into it mere minutes into the first episode.
I also have no one to talk about this show with, so hey, feel free to message me if you also like the show.

Tracker - The Never Game Review
Missing new episodes of Tracker like I am? Want some interesting tidbits on the Shaw clan? If yes, then I highly recommend checking out The Never Game by Jeffrey Deaver. Spoiler free review for show fans below!
Tumblr media
If you didn't know, Tracker, and more specifically the charter of Colter Shaw, is based on a series of books.
The Never Game is the first book in the series and our introduction to Colter. The whole reason I even made this post is because this book feels like a really good, in-depth set of episodes. I am always a "the book was better" person but I'm actually surprised at how much book Colter is like TV Colter. If anything, through the book we get a little more insight in his head at times but this is through and through, the same guy and you get the same vibes.
Things You'll Enjoy If You Like The Show:
Colter still has a team that helps him out (and some familiar team members)
The pace is fast, even in the quiet moments and there are a lot of them
There's action, danger and fun side characters that aren't one-dimensional
Video games, Silicon Valley, technology and their impact are major factors in the story (I was skeptical of this at first but it's actually a great example of environment driving the plot)
The story doesn't treat the reader like an idiot. It gives you all the clues as the same as the characters and doesn't try to get you with a gotcha you couldn't have seen coming. That said, it's fun to realize you were so wrong about your theories and you could have figured it out long ago
We get to see more of Colter and who he is on his own, with others and with a new romantic interest
Multiple flashbacks to when Colter was a teen on the compound, general Colter backstory, and info about the Shaw family (There are some differences between show and book but they're not massive)
Without spoiling anything, you'll pick up some new information about Ashton Shaw's death and get some clues about where the show is likely going with that storyline (in a very vague sense if you can piece if together)
The end of this book had my heart racing and makes you want to jump into the next one
Things You Might Not Like If You Like The Show:
You may be majorly spoiled about where the show is going regarding the Ashton Shaw storyline surrounding his death and potentially the family aspect
The "rewardist" thing is only prevalent early on
Team TV Airstreamer & Truck > Colter's crappy book Winnebago & Dirt Bike
In general, I really recommend the story (I'm off to start the next book soon) if you're looking for more Tracker and a pool or beachside read! I hate to say it but I almost liked this Colter better!

Trusting Your Gut
Here's a quote from one of Jeffery Deaver's books that resonated with me, check it out. #QuoteOfTheDay #JefferyDeaver #Intuition #TrustYourGut #TheNeverGame #FollowYourGut
“Sometimes you don’t play the odds, sometimes your gut gives you direction.” – Jeffery Deaver, The Never Game.

how come in every disco Elysium post I see, the mustache one is being a massive cringe fail loser (usually face first on the floor), while the bald one is off to the side serving metric tons of cunt

I see your “Apollo agreed so easily because he doesn’t care about Odysseus” and raise you “the god of prophecy knows that Odysseus is going to make it home, so he’s not going to make much of an effort to stop him.”
