I’d say this is it. On top of everything else, I’d say THIS is the cherry on top of definitive proof of Supercorp having been planned/attempted all along.
According to this S2 finale script with unaired moments, Lena had literally JUST left the room after they made future dinner plans together post-Mon-El loss, and then Kara has a talk with Cat in which Cat says love is still ahead for her… wow. Seriously. It’s 99.999% undeniable at this point.
Especially because even if they changed the idea of them having dinner plans and removed that scene, the very next episode on screen in 3x01, we still had the moment where Kara is looking at photos of her with Mon-El, then she tells herself to wake up, sets it aside, texts LENA, who responds with a RED HEART EMOJI, and Kara smiles authentically for the second time since losing Mon-El (first time, also being at Lena during the statue dedication). Meanwhile the romantic-vibe song lyrics “good for me, what I need...” plays over the moment, and then Kara has the strength to move on and go meet her friends. So there’s a character losing one love interest, then another steps up as the obvious next choice/endgame that gives the person hope, as all signs around them also point to it as well, which is a pretty typical narrative set up for writers in situations like this.
They clearly were always trying to set Lena up as Kara’s future love interest/ultimate endgame. Repeatedly. All of these script leaks (on top of what we’ve seen on screen all along as well) just confirms it. That one writer (who co-wrote this 2x22 script and the other one for 3x17 where she actually mentioned “Supercorp” directly on the page) officially confirmed she was rooting for it, and we see obviously was trying to set it up in the writing as well. Which by extension then confirms that someone - either showrunners or execs at the top - have forced them to remove these elements, halt development, go in other directions, or possibly in the case of S5 - delay it - every step of the way. Writers have clearly aimed for Supercorp more than once over the years. And it seems someone has clam-jammed it every damn time.
So now, once again, here we are, back to the same old question… now that the show is ending, if it was a network or executive level clam-jam, are they FINALLY going to let the show go there? Or are they going to dig in their heels just to break an ankle and go out having wasted the ripest element in the show’s entire run - its biggest and most potentially impactful and memorable love story - and being one of the worst queer baiters in TV history, never fulfilling the best and most organic outcome for Kara, Lena, the show and the fans, due only to ego and/or homophobia? Same for the showrunners, IF they’re the hangup instead/also (hopefully not, but who knows)?
Lastly, these scripts made it clear that they were also trying to make it obvious that Mon-El was NOT Kara’s endgame, nor anything remotely close to that. It was simply a first real relationship along the way of her finding her true soulmate. We’ve said all along that she didn’t like him in that way, until she became lonely and saw everyone else paired up, so she pushed herself to finally give him a chance since he liked her and she had nobody else. She even grew to love him, as she admits, but obviously she recognized that she got with him because she wanted to experience a relationship like everyone else had, and that says a lot. Especially when you combine it with her on screen blow up later, where she openly admitted she over romanticized their relationship, and he treated her like crap, and she was obviously glad it ended, and then again when she never gave into his attempts to get with her in S3, and easily let him go yet again in the S3 finale, and barely paid him attention in the 100th.
These scripts just fully confirmed that Kara wants a soulmate/deep relationship, but she never really wanted Mon-El, specifically. She simply desires true love (like she’d told James - wanting her perfect game night partner, which was confirmed in S4 to be Lena, and someone who knew everything about her, which as of S5 is also Lena). I’ve always said that while Kara grew to love Mon-El and was hurt by losing him, she was more hurt by losing the potential he represented of her having a true love, having happiness, etc. And this script confirms that. He was NOT the one, and she’s always known it, which is why she’s never mentioned him since, and barely paid him attention in the 100th except to discuss Lena, and he didn’t even exist in a world where she and Lena were partners.
The whole “Karamel vs Supercorp” of it all really shouldn’t even be up for debate anymore. They have made it clear, time and again both on screen and in these unaired script pages, that he is not Kara’s soulmate nor endgame. So unless the show decides to go against their own history and character development out of absolutely nowhere and pull something out of their arse at the last second that won’t make any sense and would send bad messaging and upset the bulk of their remaining audience, it won’t (and shouldn’t) happen.
Meanwhile, again, they’ve also made it clear, time and again both on screen and in these unaired script pages, that Lena is Kara’s soulmate and endgame.
So let’s see what they do with that. Throw it all away? Or soar, and finally fulfill the story they’ve been telling all along, while also make history, by letting Supergirl finally have what she’s always dreamed of: true love. And Lena. Because those two things are one in the same, per their own narrative.

Baseless random speculation on future episodes based solely on shallow “that’s what the person last wrote”:
13 - The Gauntlet: Dana Horgan (story) & Jay Faerber & Brooke Pohl Brooke Pohl’s last credit was the Lex centric episode, so maybe this is where Lex reenters the picture and teams up with Nyxly. (leading to Lena’s beach plot in 14 with William, being being spurred on by Lex’s involvement to team up with William and maybe Andrea to investigate Lex) Dana Horgan also has written a lot of noteworthy Lena and Lena versus Lex heavy episodes recently. (notably Phantom Menaces with a Lena versus Lex plot, Confidence Women about the Andrea and Lena backstory and Missing Link where Lena realizes that she is becoming too much like Lex) [of course she also wrote the Lena free Nia centric Reality Bytes]
14 - Magical Thinking: Derek Simon & Karen Maser Behind the scenes pictures suggest a Lena and Dansen heavy episode or generally an action episode? Derek Simon is noteworthy for being a real veteran of the series and Karamel’s should note that he wrote in A Few Good Women (the one with the potential Karamel shoutout), in episode 100 and way back some important Karamel episodes like Welcome To Earth, Medusa and Homecoming, Dark Side Of The Moon). All the more sad that nothing about this episode really indicates likely opportunity for Karamel shoutouts. So I wouldn’t get my hopes up too much.
On the Lena or Dansen front, nothing sticks out to me about him as a writer.
Maser in comparison is a new writer to season 6. Previously she wrote the episode where Kelly decides she wants to become a superhero and the episode where Lena first really teams up with the Superfriends for the search for Kara.
15 - Hope for Tomorrow: Robert L. Rovner (story) & Emilio Ortega Aldrich & Nicki Holcomb Okay, this is the biggest conspiracy theory leap that is probably completely off base. I call it the Karadox conspiracy. It’s no secret that particularly Karamel fans think the show could end with Kara leaving for the future. What if this is true but the show builds this up mostly through Karadox (even if it is isn’t necessarily straight up romantic Karadox)? AND if this is the episode that lays the groundwork for it?
- the title mentions the future - it has a story by showrunner Robert Rovner which is usually mostly reserved for special episodes like openers, finales and episode 100 these days. So this could point towards a big game changer episode or generally an episode that is very important for the mythos and the direction of the series - While it’s not a consistent track record, Nicki H has written some strong Brainy episodes or at least strong Brainy material in other episodes - Neither Kara nor Brainy are present in Nia’s big flag waving scene and Brainy was grouped with Mon-El and Winn during the funeral
So, my completely random conspiracy theory, what if this episode were to have Brainy receive news from the Legion that it is safe for him to come back to the future (or alternatively that they are stuck and need his help, but I feel like “hope” would work better if the message was that the future is fine now) and they offer to pick him up and he has to make a decision on whether he wants to? (making the reason why the Legion is here to be pick up Brainy, they run smackdash into the funeral and decide to stay put for a bit and help out because Brainy has unfinished business).
It’s noteworthy that the other writer most recently wrote in the Nia heavy Dream Weaver (but also the not Nia centric Phantom Menaces). So I could picture this as a Brainia heavy episode?
ETA: @madeunmexico brought up the good point why they would have to pick him up if he has access to the Legion ship. Err, good point. Remember, my spec is likely wrong ^__^ My current BS explanation is maybe he wants them to pick him up so he can leave his ship behind with his friends so they also have access to futuretravel?
16 - Nightmares In National City: Rob Wright & Jess Kardos
Rob Wright and Jess Kardos were also teamed up for Alex In Wonderland so this could be more Alex centric than expected? (they were also teamed up for the Prom episodes)
I would peg this episode for most likely to have quality sisters or Alex content.
17 - Either Truth and Consequences of Believe In A Thing Called Love: Dana Horgan & Nicki Holcomb
Out of the writers I would peg Dana Horgan as the one most likely to be Lena centric and of course my current pet theory is that Nicki could be a Brainy heavy writer. (that’s why I liked it better when my theory was that 17 was about William getting himself killed and Lena feeling guilty, but following the conspiracy theory about a Brainy/future plot this could also be a Brainy/Nia episode about love)
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t actually think that Supergirl writers are tied to single characters and that they can’t swap around and write all characters (ie Nicki H strikes me as somebody where the type of episode seems to be more dictated by whoever the partner is). It just has always been a pet theory of mine that some writers do tend to sometimes have some leanings (like Cindy Lichtman wrote a lot of Lena episodes in season 2/3, most notably Luthors, Damages and For Good, seriously that’s three different episodes of Lena being framed/persecuted).
Anyway, these specs are probably colossaly wrong, but they are also fairly concrete, so you can rake me over the coals when I turn out to be completely off base. ^__^ Since the episode summary of Gauntlet should drop fairly soon, that can be proven wrong quite soon.

Happy Friday! So this is my attempt to both thank awesome fanfic writers for their amazing work and offer my recommendations to anyone who is interested. Here are the fantastic fanfic stories I read this week! They are posted in the order I read them. This and all previous Fabulous Olicity Fanfic posts can be found on my blog.
2315 N. Highbury Ave. multi-chapter WIP by @cruzrogue - Overnight Felicity becomes homeless and she keeps this from Oliver because their friendship is strained and he’s already stressed out enough. Its only a matter of time that some bottled-up feelings will come to the surface. https://archiveofourown.org/works/21447388/chapters/51108508
One Night multi-chapter Complete by @daenerys-targaryes - Felicity paces back and forth in her bathroom, fingers playing with each other in front of her stomach and her bottom lip pulled between her teeth. How the hell did she get here? She prides herself on being smart -- on being a genius, actually. Hell, she skipped eighth grade! So how in the hell had she ended up here, burning a hole in the floor of her bathroom, waiting for a flimsy plastic stick to tell her if her life is over? http://archiveofourown.org/works/11076792/chapters/24706029
The Way We Met multi-chapter WIP by @originalhybridloverfics - Ever since Felicity Smoak lost her mother, she struggled to move forward until the day she met Oliver Queen and her whole life changed. Oliver has lived his life with one thing in mind, survive. Growing up in the system taught he had to look out for himself at any cost. However, the day he met Felicity changed him. Can two lost people find their way in each other? Oliver the Pilot by @someonesaidcake - She had this smile. It could make his heart speed a million miles an hour just as easily as it could slow his beat to something that might have him considered legally dead. It was a smile. It was the smile. And he’d loved it for years. Only she didn't know... https://archiveofourown.org/works/12970437
let's slip away... (quietly) (6x06 Missing Scene) - Explicit by @dust2dust34 - A missing scene from the end of 6x06. William's gone to bed and Oliver and Felicity are getting... reacquainted after his trip. https://archiveofourown.org/works/11888871/chapters/29737122
Their New Usual (post-6x09) - by @dust2dust34 - A fluffy morning-after scene post the wedding reception in 6x09 (and pretending everything is fine outside of their bubble, tbh). https://archiveofourown.org/works/11888871/chapters/29739588
Helplessly Wrecked multi-chapter WIP by @cruzrogue - A very smart, passionate, woman. Worked to get her dual masters from MIT, it may have taken longer being a mother of triplets but at least she has her mother’s support. Oliver Queen still has a yacht incident and was marooned for shorter time frame on a real deserted island. He never flunked out of his Ivy League schooling and is a very sought-after bachelor. His relationships never last more than half a year and is known to throw himself into his work. His motto ‘work hard play harder’. https://archiveofourown.org/works/19194103/chapters/45628978

Vows multi-chapter WIP by @absentlyabbie - After the Siege of Starling City by Slade Wilson, threats and pressures force Oliver and Felicity to take desperate measures to protect their secrets, their team—and their very lives. http://archiveofourown.org/works/5868451/chapters/13526227
I had a dream that you were mine! multi-chapter Complete by nikcholaxsmoak (Flamingarcher93) - Why would it take until something like this to happen for Oliver to realise his love for Felicity? Romanticizing Karamel. One More Time for Those in the Back
Seriously. It’s Not Rocket Science.
I hate to burst anyone’s bubble, but--
Oh, who am I kidding? I live to burst bubbles! Like, do you remember grabbing the bubble wands and maybe some of those cool bubble blowing pipes and begging your mom or dad to blow some bubbles so you could run around the yard with your friends, trying to beat everyone else to pop the biggest bubbles, laughing hysterically when they burst and everyone close enough would get splattered with the slimy residue, and...
*ahem*
But I digress.
About the Psychic Whammy. AGAIN.
For those who STILL haven’t figured it out, when Kara told Mon-El that deep down she knew their relationship hadn't been perfect, here's what Kara was NOT saying. She was not saying M’rynn’s psychic whammy made her suddenly realize their love wasn’t actually real or sweet or healthy. It made her realize it was not perfect. And she needed to remember that so she could deal with the pain and, yes, anger of losing him.
How do I know this? Well, mostly... common sense. I mean, I watched season 2. Karamel was definitely not a perfect relationship. Kara and Mon-El had their share of problems to work through just like, you know, every other relationship ever. And they did work through them.
But even more importantly, we already knew that Kara had been romanticizing their relationship when he was gone.
“How?” you might ask. “How would we know that?”
Well I’m glad you asked!
Because the opening scene in the Supergirl S3 premiere is literally the visual embodiment of Kara “romanticizing” her relationship with Mon-El.
Because this? Right here? This is the epitome of a romanticized relationship, y’all.
Kara was so busy missing Mon-El, she literally DREAMED about their relationship. The entire 7 months he was gone. In her dreams (and daydreams) she created this idyllic, pure setting where she and Mon-El were together, and in love, and everything-- everything!-- was perfect.
Even her mother was there.
So, for those paying attention, we already knew that when he was gone Kara romanticized their relationship. And we knew she was having a hard time getting past that dream/daydream when Mon-El came back with a wife, even though she thought she had dealt with all of her feelings about them.
And it was killing her.
Letting Go
So yeah, Kara felt relieved after the psychic wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am. A big weight off her shoulders. She told Mon-El she was grateful it happened, but she was so sorry she hurt him. Because that is the kind of woman she is. She never wanted to cause Mon-El pain.
And Mon-El?
He just stood there and took Kara’s stream of abuse and accepted it and told her he understood because that is the kind of man he is. A good man. He knew she needed to let it all go, even if it wasn’t fair to him, even if it broke his heart.
And he accepted her apology, offering his own in return.
So sorry not sorry about bursting your bubble. But the psychic whammy scene was never about Kara “dragging” Mon-El. And it certainly wasn’t about Kara finally calling him out for things he did in the past, things that happened before they were together, when he was brand new to Earth, things she’d long since forgiven.
Because what we got was Kara finally letting go of the perfect dream she had of “them.” So she could move on.
And since they are the best of friends and partners in every other scene they share throughout the rest of season 3, I think it’s pretty safe to say Kara had nothing but love, admiration, and respect for Mon-El.
Random Related Thoughts about the Psychic Whammy
The more I think about it, the more I realize that from a writer’s standpoint, the showrunners did do a pretty damn good job of making a loud and abusive fandom think they actually got a canon scene with Kara finally telling off Mon-El for being an abusive jackass and saying she never loved him, when in actuality, they didn’t. Not even a little bit. What we got was Kara unleashing every bad thought she’d ever had about Mon-El. And it wasn't news to anyone.
Because A) Mon-El is fully aware he used to be a lying jackass, and she never had a problem saying that to his face (or anyone else’s).
And 2) at the end of the day, Kara’s brain was altered.
There is nothing Kara said that prevented her from falling in love with Mon-El in the first place, or that prevented her from still loving him. Just like there was nothing she said to Alex while poisoned with Red Kryptonite that ever prevented her from loving her sister unconditionally. And she said some VERY hurtful stuff.
She made Alex cry.
Y’all? Kara broke Alex’s arm and was ready to KILL her, which forced J’onn to out himself as the Martian Manhunter so he could stop her.
She also threw Cat Grant off a building, so...
So yeah. Brain altering psychic whammies are not truth serum. Both times the worst parts of Kara-- the angriest, the meanest, the most resentful, the ones we all have deep, deep down-- rose to the surface. And she couldn’t stop them from coming out.
And I can’t stress this part enough: For those of you who laugh and praise Kara-- SUPERGIRL-- for physically and verbally abusing a man she actually loves and would never purposefully hurt? Well, that tells so much more about the kind of person you are than it does the kind of man you are always claiming Mon-El is.

Leap of Faith - Arrow Music Notes 8x03
This episode is about family as Oliver and Thea go on a quest to find more about the Monitor (amidst a scavenger hunt with Talia and the Thanatos Guild), Lyla and Diggle rescue their future adopted son, and Mia tries to protect William in her decision to attack the JJ and Deathstroke gang.
Oliver, Thea, and Nanda Parbat
Oliver arrives in Nanda Parbat to ask Nyssa what she knows in League legend about the Monitor and finds Thea alone. Much of the music for Nanda Parbat, the League of Assassins, and Talia in this episode is represented by the duduk, an Armenian wind instrument first used with Nyssa in 2x13 “Heir to the Demon” and percussion, particularly wooden and drums. The duduk starts the episode as the audience is shown that Oliver is in Nanda Parbat and the percussion plays as he fights with someone who is revealed to be Thea.
Oliver and Thea catch up on what has happened over the past year or two as a guitar harmonics and harp version of “I forgot who I was” (1x05) plays in the background. This is a quiet subtle version, using an instrumentation which is rare for this melody but been a part of Oliver’s instruments from the beginning. It harkens to the deep bond they have as siblings with a melody that has been used for their family in both good and painful times. They have had to overcome lies and change with this theme from 1x07 when Moira tells Thea that they have to accept Oliver as he is instead of who he used to be, to 3x03 “Lose you forever” when Oliver tells the truth about their Father killing himself and how much he needs her, to 6x16 when he says goodbye to Thea as she leaves on her quest “Take Good Care of Her.” It is fitting that the same theme that was used for the last time they saw each other should be used as they reconnect. It plays again in cellos with a harp accompaniment as he tells her about his upcoming death. Thea is unfazed since he has cheated death several times but Oliver tries to convince her that this is different. This theme has been used several times with goodbyes: to William, to Thea, to Moira (both in dream and real worlds). Oliver is preparing to say goodbye again.
However, they have a quest to complete first as they find Talia (with ney flute and the duduk) and then they look for the tomb of the first Ra’s. Interesting enough, Talia’s theme was not used in this episode at all. However, one theme that did return was the Ra’s al Ghul theme in the crutales (tuned cymbals) just as it was in Season 3 “Ra’s al Ghul.” This appeared as they found, read, and burned his scroll revealing the ball with the map on it.
After a run-in with the Thanatos Guild, Oliver asks Thea to stay behind which she doesn’t understand. A version of the Arrow theme plays in the piano (Oliver’s instrument) as he tells he that he cares and he is trying to protect her. Piano is used for key emotional moments and reflects both his heroic and depth of concern for anything to happen to Thea. The Arrow theme is heard again, this time in the female voice reflecting back to “The Climb” 3x09 and “Merlyn Brings News” (3x10) as he approaches the mountain where he had been stabbed by Ra’s. The piano Arrow variation plays again as Thea finds Oliver after being knocked out and betrayed by Talia.
Oliver and Thea have another heart-to-heart while climbing up the mountain. This time, “Not Black and White” (4x23) accompanies them as Oliver admits that he questions his decision about leaving his family and that his over-protectiveness was activated by seeing a world destroyed where Thea died because Oliver wasn’t there to help her. His current driving force is to have all the members of his family safe. Thea responds that she had been thinking a lot about their parents and how their decisions in trying to protect their children for the most part failed but yet turned them into the heroes that they are today. Love and family is complicated, accentuated by “Not Black and White” which often plays as Oliver recognizes the schism between darkness and light most frequently in himself, trying to be a hero for others both when he was a mayor and the Green Arrow. It played when he gave a press conference in 5x21 where he shared the truth about his father “Truth about my father” and in Felicity’s speech to William about what it means to watch Oliver being a hero “What your Dad is.” (6x11). Even though their parents were trying to act out of love to protect them, they were also acting out of fear and let darkness take over. However, Oliver and Thea have turned those struggles through darkness into light to protect others throughout the world.
Ra’s theme returns in the crutales as they enter the tomb, low choir sings (also used for the League in more mystical elements) as they open the coffin/crypt and the duduk theme for “The Black Wedding” (3x22) plays as they head toward the Phoenix trying to avoid being burnt up. The duduk (Talia) and harp (Thea) play as Thea challenges Talia to a duel as the Heir of the Demon for the original sword of Ra’s. The duduk plays one last time in the end after Thea defeats Talia as Talia tells her that the sword and what it means is Thea’s destiny. Thea rejects that however to create a League of Heroes as brass and string patterns play, inviting Talia to help her.
Oliver and Thea say goodbye again as Oliver plans to stop the Monitor and Thea goes to create the League of Heroes. As they hug, “Purest Heart” (2x21) plays in the piano and violin. This theme is primarily how Oliver views and loves his sister since Walter told Thea “your brother loves you more than life itself” in 2x21. This is a love reinforced from Oliver himself and reciprocated by Thea: “There has not been a day that I did not cherish you as a sister” (2x21), “I will always see you as my big brother” (Thea to Oliver, 3x03), “I love you. Don’t ever forget that, ok?” (Oliver saying goodbye to Thea in 3x20), and as Oliver visits Thea in the hospital both in 4x12 and 6x01. In this scene, neither one wants to let go from their hug as Oliver believes this is the last time he will see her and while Thea doesn’t want to believe it, she does miss her brother every day. The slow version of the Arrow theme plays in the violins as Oliver and Thea say goodbye possibly for the last time.
Diggle and Lyla
Diggle and Lyla end up on a mission to rescue Connor Turner and his mom. They have a few moments to reflect both on the past and the present. Part-way through the episode, Diggle doesn’t want Lyla to put herself in harm’s way which confuses her since he isn’t usually this cautious. He admits that seeing a universe disappear changed him and that he couldn’t risk losing her. This moment is accompanied by their main love theme in the piano and hammered dulcimer since 3x01 when Sara was born. It played during their proposal in 3x08, Oliver telling them to go on their honeymoon in 3x17, and talking about going on a mission as a second honeymoon in 7x03. This couple has been through many high risk moments from the army to ARGUS but their love still shines through. This theme then returns at the end after they rescued Connor as Lyla asks John to always hold onto the good memories and John responds that he won’t have to because he’s not going anywhere and neither is she.
Future Team Arrow
Meanwhile, Mia decided that the best way to stop JJ and his Deathstroke gang is to attack their lair and go on the offensive. The rest of the team think this is a reckless move but follow her lead. The harp/guitar harmonic combination returns for Mia and William which is a lovely move to use for both generations of Queen siblings. Harp for William and guitar harmonics for Mia. William echoes what Zoe had mentioned earlier in the episode: Mia shouldn’t make her strategy based on the fear of losing her brother. The instrumentation may be familiar but the theme is new as Mia tells him that she can’t lose the only family she has left.
Unfortunately, things end up poorly as Mia gets cut in the neck by JJ and Zoe pushes him out of the way only to be stabbed herself. As she dies in Mia’s arms, she tells Mia to tell her Dad that she loves him. The theme in the piano is “Rene’s Loss” from 5x13, first heard in the flashbacks when Rene discovered his wife was using drugs which led to Rene losing his wife and Zoe put into foster care. It played a few times in Rene and Zoe scenes especially when he was struggling with trying to bring her home in Season 5. The use of the music of what tragically changed their life when the audience first sees Zoe to be used in her death scene is heartbreaking. She went through some bumpy patches with Rene but she always loved her Dad. Not only is it Rene’s loss but a loss to the whole team as they grieve her death.
Harp and future-like high electronics (glissandos up and down) play as Oliver and the Future Team gets beamed into the bunker in 2019, giving it an other world or time sound. The music continues with a version of the Arrow hero theme but mostly filled with string patterns and atmospheric fluid sounds as it leads to a climatic moment as William, Mia and Oliver look at each other in shock.
Extra Notes:
I am so excited for the reunion in the next episode between Mia, William and Oliver!
You can tell this is the end of the series because the lack of accessible gifs is staggering.

Idk if anyone's asked you this already but why do you ship karamel?
This is a loaded question and I’m trying to think of how to answer it without having my response turn into a five paragraph essay, but I’m not sure that’s going to happen. (And yes, even as a girl who likes girls who understands the want, the need for Supercorp, I’m going to try and explain myself without bringing that whole idea into this).
One of the beauties of television and the stories acted out on the shows we love is that each viewer has the ability to interpret them however they want, or however they need. When it comes to me in particular, I’m a writer who currently works in tv and wants to write tv someday. Even though there’s always going to be a bit of a fangirl who still lives inside of me, I also try to (and can’t help but to) watch shows and analyze the characters and how they’re written while reminding myself of what that whole process entails, what goes into running and producing a show, and the many minds who do AND don’t have say in the execution of all of it.
When it comes to television — and especially the making of it — I’ve found one phrase which encompasses the truth of it 99.9% of the time: There is no winning. Not for set PA’s, not for writers, not for production designers, not for costumers. Literally not for anyone. Mon-El is not a perfect character (because perfect characters do not exist) and Karamel is by no means a perfect ship. There are a handful of reasons why I ship Karamel. There are a multitude of reasons why I don’t.
I’m not going to outline and detail every single scene pertaining to why I do, but here’s what I will say…
This world is full of beings who are flawed and complex built upon a combination of nature, nurture, experiences, and dreams. A lot of the time, Mon-El is the antithesis of the kind of person Kara is and the life that she leads. He’s a liar, he’s an asshole at times, and he’s such a product of his nurture and his planet and his past. He’s not written to be a likable character, even with some of the comic relief that I think he added to the show, hence why so many fans don’t like him. He embodies the qualities of the anti-hero. He’s awful to Kara, he practically destroys everything he touches. Yet Kara’s human heart falls for him anyway because if there’s one sure-fire thing I’ve learned in my twenty-seven years of life it’s this: we can’t help or control who we fall in love with.
Their relationship isn’t the healthiest we’ve seen, but there was a realness to it and I can appreciate the struggle and the way it was written. Ultimately, I ship Kara with happiness, but happiness is also a fleeting emotion. I loved the way Karamel’s relationship took a toll on Kara, forced her to grow, broke her heart, and exhibited how she came out stronger on the other side because of it. I don’t think Mon-El casted a shadow over Kara’s character development; I think he played an important role in it. She may be Kryptonian, but her heart and emotions are human. They made one another happy at times, they clashed at times, and in the end, Kara was forced to make a decision to save the world and she had to break her own heart in doing so.
When people are forced to make a quick, world-shifting, traumatizing decision it can alter how they look at what once was. Grief is so overpowering. And grief is such an important part of Kara’s story in season 3, and the same goes for how she continues to evolve and grow while carrying the weight of it on her shoulders. I bet most of you reading this have gone through a heartbreaking breakup, right? Or you’ve lost someone you love. Grief is shitty but we all feel it, it’s something we all experience. I think grief and heartbreak are two things that Supergirl depicts so well within the show. Their depiction of it has made me feel less alone. That’s another reason why I ship their rollercoaster of a relationship.
So, in the end — if you’ve even made it this far — maybe it’s best for me to correct myself. Maybe I don’t ship Karamel, so to speak. Or at last not as an ‘endgame’ ship. Karamel was never written to last. But I ship their individual characters, how they interacted with one another, how they learned and grew because of one another, and their storyline as a whole for what it was, from what I took from it, the same way I ship Sanvers and theirs (but let’s not go down that rabbit hole).
There’s so much more I could write about this, but I’m going to leave it at that. Thanks for taking the time to listen to my opinion. I definitely appreciate all of yours.

...Yet another reason for why humans are ridiculously tiring and one should just run the other way😅🙈
Yeah, I love that bunny's quite😍
You don't have to tell ME that, I'm still a sobbing mess for days if I so much as hear the soundtrack that plays in the background when it happens and had memorized the exact seconds I needed to stop, fast forward and continue the version of the movie that was on YouTube... 😅
😔😭 No surprise there...
Ohhhhh😍😂 Well, shit, now my mind over-connected Malachai "Kai" and Josette "Jo" Parker with Mon-El and that female, sisterly guard🤦🏻♀️😂😂
Jup, the description fits perfectly!😂
Well, technically my Mom wasn't evil either, just broken and beyond done with the shit destiny, the universe and the people around him keep/kept throwing at him🤷🏻♀️😂🙈 AND RIGHTFULLY SO!
Ohhh, sounda awesome😍 Tho now I'm reminded of that other Karamel psychatric ward thing🤔😂
Ohhh, those scenarios all sound so good!😍😍 Karamel in Star Wars would just be badass no matter what 😍😍😍🙈
😂😂 You're welcome?
XXX
Yeah, do you dream sometimes to escape to some remote place without people, building a hut and not giving a fuck about what is happening with humanity? Because , damn, life goals.
He was a cutie xD
On some summer vacations we were watching Lion King every day (exchanged with Mulan), so.... trauma. On the other hand Mufasa was my fave chaarcter and he died, so I should have ralized I was already cursed.
I don't know TVD, I just blessed my eyes with some Kai scenes on yt xD I mean , she would annoy Kara, becasue I imagine her as a cynical, sarcastic, done with everyone's bullshit bitch. So calling out other people's crap is her hobby. Plus is protective of Mon-El, but also done with his shit. On the other hand, isn't it what real friends do? so, she and Kara could be real friends. And oh well, don;t let me start about her and Lobotomizer's interactions. i think i played with my scenes in my head, like her stabbing Lena's to death, meow ;3
"just broken and beyond done with the shit destiny, the universe and the people around him keep/kept throwing at him" do you ... read what you... write. JUST? And it should make me feel better? And I forgave you, now i feel bad about it =='
Oh, Mika wrote that one about them in a ward and it was GOOOOOD. She is amazing karamel writer too :D
Where are your karamel headcanons or ideas? I should not share anything else =='

Supergirl Discussion: The Dream Team. (S3:11)
Monday’s episode of Supergirl, titled Fort Rozz, has become an instant favorite of mine. Throughout this episode I was laughing, dramatically sobbing, cheering, happy crying.... basically felling ALL of the emotions in the best way. We were blessed with some of the most unexpected character pairings that could not have worked any better. So why was this team up necessary? Our titular hero needed to gain some Intel on the all-powerful Samantha Reign. The only way to do so was to travel to Fort Rozz to find the Kryptonian Priestess who has been imprisoned since before the destruction of Kyrpton, which meant she knows what the endgame of the season is going to be about. Also the prison is still filled with enemies that despise the house of El. Oh yeah, the prison is now orbiting a blue star that is poisonous to all those of the male gender containing a Y-Chromosome, and Supergirl will have no powers because there is no yellow sun. In order to combat these obstacles, Kara basically created her own all-female legion of superheroes, which resulted in one of the best episodes of Supergirl to ever grace our screens. Supergirl, Matilda Saturn Girl, Livewire, and Regina George Psi are off to try and save the world while Brainy (Who I could write an entire dissertation about how much I love him), Mon-El, Winn, and J’onn stayed back at the DEO to provide support. Everyone was rightfully hesitant about this team up at first, but Reign was a clear and intimidating common enemy that they all wanted and needed to take down. There are no words that I can type that will do justice to the dialogue and banter between all of the characters this episode so I’ll ask you guys to respond with some of your favorite lines! I think I’m gonna have to put down the SuperWire Conversation as one of my favorites #SuperWireStrong. This was a big episode for our anti-hero Leslie Willis, known as Livewire, but I will get back to her a bit later on. After some punching, interrogating, and exploration of the Kryptonian Alcatraz, SuperWire eventually found the Priestess. Well, I wouldn’t say found, I guess it was more like a dementor kidnapped Supergirl away, let her nap a bit, and took her straight to the Priestess. If only they greeted our new number one squad, watch out Swift, at the door. Thank you kind Kryptonian dementor! I kind of hope we see more of them but back to the Priestess. I hate her. She was very rude and I don’t have any kind words about her. She told us a horribly prophecy, which I’m curently theorizing about and might possibly post about it so let me know if you guys would be interested in that! At the very least at least she let Supergirl know that there are in fact more WorldKillers out there, so hopefully she gets to recruiting a bigger and badder squad stat (A girl can dream right). Unfortunately our Dream Team had some additional obstacles courtesy of a solar flare that left the ship our hero’s used to get to Fort Rozz plummeting into the blue star. Matilda and Regina George stayed behind to try and change the course of the ship so when Reign arrived to murdered the no good Priestess and Kill Supergirl, her only back up was Livewire. This battle against Reign proved to be the worst one yet and resulted in the death of a hero, Livewire. She sacrificed herself just as Reign, whose powers don’t rely on something as trivial as the sun, was about to laser Supergirl out of existence. It was a truly noble and heartbreaking sacrifice. This is the death of a character that I am truly sad I won’t be able to see on the small screen again. Well done writers. The only reason Reign was not victorious, is because Psi came through to get all psychological on our villain and the human attributes that Reign was so worried about in the begging of the episode rendered her nearly defenseless for a brief moment. This was the first moment we saw her humanity, which was a very, very, big moment. Supergirl got a taste of the Jekyll and Hyde situation that unknown to her, her bestie of a few Weeks (Months right?) is dealing with. I will admit, I do like Samantha and I love her relationship with Ruby, which does help in making this situation even more heartbreaking. Of course Kara blames herself for Livewire’s death (Please play barracuda at her memorial) which lead to one of the season’s greatest Karamel Scenes. It felt like season two all over again... except for the fact that he is married, 7 years wiser, and has incredible facial hair. I’m glad they were finally able to converse again. It was a very sweet and brief moment that they both needed. Lots of progress all over the place this episode! Mon-El reminded Kara that whenver all of the adds are stacked against her, she finds a way and that sometimes Kara manages to find a way and save the day before Supergirl can. I don’t know if you were able to tell but I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. Don’t worry I didn’t Forget about Alex. I did forget about James and Lena thought. I guess they have to work but were probably secretly making out somewhere. Anyway back to Alex, she spent the episode with her daughter babysitting Ruby and putting the fear of the FBI into children cyber bullying everywhere. She also broke my Sanvers heart with they way she responded to the Maggie Text. Acting 10 out of 10. The episode ended with two very important scenes. The Dream Team lost a member while the Anti-Dream team began to grow. We saw the awakening of the newest WorldKiller after she was not crushed to death by two vehicles she was sandwhiched between. Just as important, Sam finally confided in Alex about her black outs and loss of time, which is extremely crucial to the development of this season. This is the scene I have been waiting for and now the big reveal will only be in a matter of time. I am very excited to see what comes next.
- Was this one of your favorite episodes?
-Did Supergirl create a Stronger Female Squad than Taylor Swift?
-Will Brainy, Mon-El, and Winn move to an apartment in NYC so we can get the spin off that we all deserve? (Please contact me if you have the power to make this happen because we should not deny the people what they want) -Real talk: I have not written many reviews before so whether it’s positive or negative feedback please tell me what you enjoyed and what you did not! Also please feel free to discuss the episode or message me with any questions! Until Next Time!

OTP Writing...
So, I might write another post about how shitty the Mon-el character is after this because I read two random people post defenses of his character, one of which was comparing how the fandom is unfair towards him but forgives other characters for the same supposed mistakes, but then again that would probably just be preaching to the choir, and, seemingly, those that love the character, for whatever reasons, probably won’t change their minds. Thus I am still undecided on that one, but for now here is a pseudo rant about writing. Enjoy.
Okay, so this has little to do with my distaste of the character and more with my complete bafflement of the writing on Supergirl. We, the audience, are told, and yes I am specifically saying told for a reason, that Kara and Mon-el are in love and supposed to be the main romantic relationship of the show. Ok, fine, but then why are they written so poorly and as though they are not the endgame of the show?Stick with me for a minute. Again not arguing for another ship, simply criticizing narrative choices of the writers.
One of the basics of television writing, particularly when it comes to romantic pairings, is the “slow burn.” Virtually every program since the 90′s has had this as a writing trope, and it’s not just for romantic pairings. There is a reason why the villains have overly complicated plans that take an entire season to bear fruit. Just like, there is a reason why the couple everyone wants to get together takes at least a season, if not longer, to finally do so. Examples, off the top of my head without looking anything up, Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, Smallville (twice), House, Bones, The 100 (also twice), The Adventures of Lois and Clark, and the list goes on and on. Hell, just look at the rest of the shows in the Arrowverse: Barry & Iris took 1.5 to 2 seasons, Oliver & Felicity took 4 season, and there really isn’t an OTP in Legends but Sara and Leonard kind of had a thing in S1 and that still took a whole season to develop. Yet, Kara and Mon-el took, like what, 9 episodes to get together with little to no development between their characters or on a personal level.
Furthermore, television writers love their idiotic “love triangles” for drama, or, at the very least, they will include someone else as potential competition or to cause drama amid their favored pairing. Again, looking back at the examples above, every single character in one of the main couples on those shows at some point dated someone else while already being defined as an interest or potential for the other. That wasn’t the case for Kara and Mon-el, and no Eve doesn’t count because it was one date where Mon-el apparently just talked about Kara the whole time, so there obviously no real intent or interest there on his part. In fact, the SG writers specifically broke up Kara and James, the S1 male lead/love interest whose relationship with Kara was slowly developed throughout all of season 1 culminating in a date and potential for more, before Mon-el even really showed up. That is a weird choice on the writer’s part. I mean, wouldn’t it have made more sense and been a more “dramatic” story for Mon-el to be an obstacle that eventually supersedes James.
As in, James and Kara are having trouble reconciling their romance with their new positions as boss and employee along with finding time with their superhero activities. Then comes along Mon-el who needs Kara’s time and attention as she is the one who best understands what it is like to find your world destroyed and you stranded on a whole new one with unimaginable abilities. And while things with James are becoming increasingly difficult, Mon-el is just easy. Sure, he’s a bumbling idiot who doesn’t understand Earth and its customs, but he’s trying. Plus, he shares the burden of carrying the memory of a civilization, even if it is not one he’s proud of, like Kara, and they bond over that. From there, you have the classic “love triangle” with two potentially beneficial choices for Kara: the human she has grown to love who holds the promise of a great future or the alien who has become her closest friend and confidante and holds the cherished memories of everything she’s lost. I mean that seems like the kind of drama that the writers claimed they wanted without making one of the characters a total shitbag. Instead, we got random arguments, incessant lying, narcissistic beliefs, constant put downs, and very few “cutesy” romantic moments.
Yes, Mon-el made her breakfast once and started drinking club soda, but that was about it. If memory serves, most of the moments that could even be considered romantic revolved around some tragic event or circumstance. Kara telling Mon-el that maybe he was enough for her was because she just got fired from her dream job. Oh, and she was already frustrated a week or so later and had to be rescued by Lena. Mon-el finally telling Kara the whole truth and confessing his love for her was because she, rightfully, broke up with him over his lies and wanted nothing further to do with him. Also, he broke into her apartment for the third time to do so which is really creepy. Them reconciling was because some random villain of the week forced Kara into an alternate world that required her to follow a preset system of rules and directions to get out to show her how wrong she supposedly was, and just how much she, supposedly, was in love with Mon-el. Kara’s confession of love came when Mon-el was being forced off the planet after the Daxamite invasion. That is the first time she says those words. Now, to be fair, couples on other shows, including the Arrowverse, also fight and disagree, but they also have basic, healthy interactions that outnumber said fights and disagreements that don’t revolve around tragedy and discord. And if they do they actually focus on the romantic relationship.
This brings me to the opener of Season 3. The episode begins with Kara having a dream/episode. In her dream/vision, she is walking in a field on Krypton. A few seconds in, Mon-el comes up behind her, and they kiss. Pretty straight forward scene. Makes sense, she misses her boyfriend and is still not over him. However, from there Kara breaks the kiss off and sees a figure in the distance. This figure is then revealed to be her mother, Alura, and Kara immediately walks over to her mother and embraces her fully with Mon-el being a blur in the background. So, the writers are tying Mon-el’s departure to the loss of family and home in Kara’s mind. That is a very strange narrative decision if your intent is to present Kara and Mon-el as the primary canon relationship. I mean, Barry and Oliver have also experience great tragedies. Barry lost both his parents because of his powers. Oliver has also lost friends and family due to his choice to be a vigilante. Yet, when both their respective love interests were harmed, attacked, or taken, there was no overlap or association with anything else.
Oliver didn’t think of his father drowning or his mother being impaled with a sword or Tommy being crushed or any of the other loved ones and/or lovers he lost when he held Felicity in his arms after she was shot. She was the only thing on his mind during that time. Throughout all of Season 3, Barry never thought about his mother’s, father’s, or anyone else’s death as the shadow of Iris’s impending demise got closer and closer. Their loved ones were about to die and they only thought about them. On the other hand, Kara’s loss of Mon-el seems to be intrinsically tied to her loss of Krypton, and not just from the example given. Practically every time Kara delved into the loss of her boyfriend in the first episode of Season 3, it was either tied to Kara’s great loss or quickly moved passed.
When Kara finally begins to open up about her emotional state and allows herself to be somewhat vulnerable, she goes to J’onn. Yes, he is Space Dad, so it kind of makes sense that she would talk to him, but, once more, from a narrative standpoint it’s an odd choice. If Kara’s primary defect, for lack of a better term, is the loss of her love, particularly the fact that she feels responsible for it, then the obvious choice for her to speak to would be Lena, the only other character who has gone through something similar. Would it be difficult with the whole not knowing the Supergirl secret? Sure, but that would also open up the writing for potential humor amid the heavy topic. Instead, Kara goes to J’onn, the only other person in this world that shares the loss of family and civilization with Kara. Furthermore, their conversation revolves around the loss of family, not a romantic partner. J’onn mentions how he misses his daughters (not his wife or M’gann) after being prompted by Kara. And Kara discusses how she dreams of Mon-el being with her mother. Again, why write this dialogue and scene if you are supposedly trying to show how devastated Kara is about losing the, supposed, love of her life?
Then, we have the picture and phone scene. This is the second time that Mon-el becomes a blurry background for Kara when she “faces” prominent women in her life. In the opening dream, Kara goes to her mother while Mon-el becomes blurry in the background. In this scene, the pictures of Kara and Mon-el together become a background blur as she texts Lena, her best friend and new boss/partner (?). It’s also interesting to note that during the episode, Kara repeatedly states how she is going to only be Supergirl from now on to not face the emotional turmoil of losing Mon-el, and in two out of the three scenes where Mon-el is visible, he becomes a blur to make room for women in Kara’s life that have no knowledge or real connection to her Supergirl alter ego, but are prominent in Kara’s (Zor-el and Danvers) life.
So, is Karamel canon? Yeah. Will it remain so? Probably, and I say that mostly because the two lead actors are dating and not because the relationship is a high point of the show or anything. I suppose the fact that the pairing will remain canonical is what baffles and concerns me when it comes to the writing. Next episode has Psi, a powerful fear based villain, and I’m assuming Kara’s fear will somehow revolve around losing Mon-el, but if the writers once again tie that loss to the loss of Kara’s family and Krypton, I will just be even more confused. Because, honestly, at that point, the writers are just intentionally being obtuse or are just bad writers. And with the CW, it’s kind of hard to tell.

Karamel Appreciation Day - As per the twitter fam :)
1. What moment did you start shipping?
Gif @karamelmondaes
I just knew this very moment that it was going to be a ‘star crossed, we come from enemy planets that hate each other but our love will conquer all prejudice’ kind of an epic ship and did it deliver? Hell yeah it did! More than anything I could expect, never been this well fed as a shipper.
2. What’s your favourite Karamel scene?
My shipper heart exploded into pieces after this scene that I’ve watched atleast a hundred times and my life hasn’t been the same since.
3. What’s your favourite Karamel line?
Gif @karamelmondaes
And you were leaning over me. And you must have been sad or something because your eyes were insanely blue. I mean, they always are. But they were like comets.
4. What do you love most about Karamel?
They are made for each other in every single way Mon-el for Kara Zor-El the star crossed alien puppy refugees on Earth, Mike Matthews for Kara Danvers with their shenanigans, Valor in Superhero Kindergarten for his mentor Supergirl, Chris Wood for Melissa Benoist and most of all, Drift for Farley, even their dogs! It’s one of those rare ships where both the characters are adorkable puppies made for each other, the actors have insane chemistry and the writers love feeding the ship with a truckload of karamelized fluff with just a hint of short lived angst. I don’t even know how they are surviving hiatus after that angsty cliffhanger. Also the actors are dating in real life! It’s the ship of dreams...
5. What scene did you cry the most at?
Gif @karamelmondaes
6. What scene did you laugh the most at?
Gif @karamelmondaes
It’s impossible to pick one, but ‘We are madly monotheistic’ is my favourite funny line and 2x05 was was the episode that made me laugh the most :D
7. What’s their most underrated moment?
Gif @super-karamel-lover
There were countless times Mon-el had expressed his feelings for Kara, this was the first moment we witnessed her vulnerability and weakness for him. Until this point, she had given him a hard time about putting following his instinct to protect her instead of listening to her. This was the first time she was in the position of letting him walk alone into dangerous territory and she followed him. This will forever be that rare underrated moment that I needed ever since Karamel became canon, I needed to actually see her walls come down and witness her feelings for him.
8. What’s your favourite Karamel fanvideo?
youtube
This just makes me dopey grin butterflies in my stomach happy...
9. What’s your favourite fanart?
I got this on the group chat and this has been my phone wallpaper for ages and after a lot of research I found out that this too was made by @karamelmondaes
10. What’s your favourite gif?
I just love this @karamelcoveredolicity made for my Daxam AU request. I really needed these two in attire of their people!

Why we ship
I have always believed, when people ship something, in a really in depth way, there is usually a reason. And that reason usually is some sort of personal association. Of seeing ourselves in the characters or in the situations, of relating it somehow to personal biography.
A surprising amount of time, I think that's actually a really bad thing. Because it often means that fans lose perspective. That they go to bat for their favorites to a completely unreasonable extent, because deep down, they are defending themselves, their own hopes and dreams, their identity, their life experiences.
I do think that it is possible to enjoy a ship on mere aesthetic reasons. "Oh, this was really clever" or "you know, that's some really fine acting".
And in the middle somewhere maybe "I really like this character and I want him or her to be happy."
But I have often thought, those cases where the fans go really rabid, or where people sit down and write hundreds of thousands of words in dedication and fanfiction, a lot of the time, there is a reason
"I really relate to that character with a shitty homelife..."
"I really relate to that character who always gets belittled..."
"I really relate to that character who is always the wallflower..."
"I really relate to that character who always has to be strong and never gets a moment to rest..."
“I really relate to that character who is young and idealistic and walking into a new situation...”
"I really relate to that girl who seems aloof and unreachable, but who really yearns for a connection..."
"I really relate to that nerdy girl who loves the big hot guy who never seems to notice her or take her seriously..."
"I really relate to that girl who is snarky and abrasive but it's really just covering up insecurity..."
Because I KNOW what that feels like. Because I have BEEN THERE.
I like to think that I'm not too rabid about Karamel, at least not in the sense of trying to arguing that it is the best written relationship or romance ever. But it would be a lie to say there isn't some element of that going on there. For me, when I think of Karamel, when I think of what made me want to go and write copious amounts of fanfic on a basically dead ship, what makes the more to me than just a cute looking couple with chemistry and story or fanfic potential, what I keep going back to are these two scenes.
Those aren't even my favorite scenes. Or even necessarily their best shippy scenes. Or the scenes that made me notice them as a ship. It's not even a scene I've ever written any fanfic on, I think.
But when I think of Karamel, of what makes them more to me than just a normal tv couple, those are the two scenes that my mind goes to.
There is just something in those scenes, a certain rawness that makes them feel very real to me. It's in the performences, the lighting, the staging, in the music and lack thereof.
It's funny because I remember having a (friendly, polite) conversation once with an anti-fan, and it's seemed pretty clear to me that she was looking at that scene from the point of view of a gay girl and how awkward it is to have a guy have a crush on it.
And I look at that scene and to me, it's just the opposite. It feels incredibly real, incredibly true to me. I feel like I have been that girl. Because I have been that girl. I have been the straight girl who has had a straight guy confess to them. And it feels like that. Raw. Fragile. Intimate. Like you have this power because he put his heart in your hand. Feels like you are tip-toeing on a precipice. And your heart is just so confused.
Same with the other scene. I feel like I've had that breakup. Where you meet up with the guy in a room and it's not really a loud breakup, no big histronics, just this quiet, tight conversation.
And that's why I'll always like Karamel. Because beyond superpowers and aliens and evil queens and corny dialogue there was something there that felt really stripped down, very raw. Like real people dealing with real situations.
Most of the time, I think we love characters, we love actors for all the ways they can portray things, can portray emotions that are larger than life. Those two scenes? I love because they feel as small as life.
So everytime I want to get really mad at canon. Or wake up in the morning and write before going to work. Or I look at my AO3 and wonder whether I should feel like I wasted my time (I mean aside from all the "it's good to creative" and "all the fun conversations I have had and all the fun people I have met"), the answer is always... not really.
Because beyond something being cute or entertaining or really unusual or clever for tv standards or well acted or pretty ... I think of those scenes and think "Sorry, those were just really, really good."
And no matter what happens to the characters, the show, the actors ... doesn't really change that I think back on those scenes and think, again, they were just really, really good.

Who’s Gonna Pay For This?
A Karamel Drabble
A/n: I started this before the finale, but I’m editing it and posting it as fast as I can now because I think we could all use some humor and fluff after that heart-breaking goodbye scene. Message me or review with any suggestions or comments you want me to hear!...or Read. I’m not as proud of this as some of my other things. I think I could have made it better, but I hope you all enjoy anyway. I’m probably doing some real karamel smut next because I’m horny. Anybody have some good kink ideas?
Alex sat down at her desk that morning, taking a sip of coffee to blow away the cobwebs. J’onn had asked her to come in early and review the security tapes; he had been paranoid since the threat of a white Martian attack. Not that she could blame him. But getting to work at six a.m. to watch blank tapes wasn’t exactly her idea of a great morning, or anyone’s for that matter. She briefly glanced at her cell to see a sweet text from Maggie.
Kick ass at work today, Danvers. I’ll make up for the early morning tonight with your favourite ice cream.-Maggie
She smiled at the encouragement from her girlfriend. Just talking to Maggie always made her feel a little better, somehow a little more energetic and relaxed at the same time. She let a small smile lift her lips as she logged onto her DEO computer, finding the files of last night’s security tapes. Another agent had monitored all the security cam footage until everyone left last night at eight. That meant she had about ten hours of new footage to scan over. Yipee. She better be getting a bonus soon for this.
She started the first tape and inevitably stared at a blank screen, speeding up the video so that it wouldn’t take all day to get through. She switched her attention to the footage of the dorm rooms to see if any of their more civil alien residents had done anything interesting last night. See, the DEO agents would often run across alien refugees in the street, struggling in one way or another. They offered them a place to live at the DEO and gave them lessons in earth culture and how to keep themselves safe. They stayed there until they could safely acclimate to National City or wherever they wanted to go on their own. Maybe she’d get to see one of the Hellgrammites they’d brought in last week shapeshift. J’onn had told her that they do that sometimes when they’re bored.
Nope. Nada. Not one resident was doing anything remotely interes-….Alex Danvers cut off her thought process as she saw a naked blond woman throw her head back, seated on top of an equally naked DEO resident. Her eyes widened as she slowed the footage tor regular speed, trying to see more closely. The woman had her back turned to the camera, but something about the shape of the man’s face was familiar. She zoomed in the video just a little and her jaw dropped, recognizing the man as Mon-El…Oooh she shouldn’t be watching this. She paused the video and was just about to cancel out when she remembered that Kara seemed to have been showing signs of feelings for this Daxamite lately. And there he was….getting flat out RIDDEN by another woman. How did he even get a random woman into the DEO? Oh that jackass was in for it.
She reluctantly pressed play one more time-she planned to rewind the video to see how he got the woman into his dorms. But right before she could press the rewind button, the woman angled her face towards camera inadvertently as she moaned. Alex grimaced at the very personal sound until something horrible dawned on her. She was staring at her little sister’s face. The woman in the video, riding Mon El like a cowgirl, was….Kara???
She made an embarrassingly girly sound of terror and slammed the off button on her computer. But can you really blame her?
Alex sat in her chair for a few seconds, completely in shock, debating if J’onn would agree to mind wipe her if she asked…Deciding that it was unlikely, she closed her eyes and pressed her fist to her eyelids, trying to scrub the images out.
Well…she thought, after a few minutes of accepting the horror, At least he wasn’t with another woman…
Oh this is not how she wanted to spend her morning. Not at all. But being a good big sister meant looking out for Kara. And her logical agent mind was telling her that after…all of that, Kara would likely fall asleep and….Alex checked the live footage of Mon-El’s dorm room and yep-they were both asleep in Mon El’s bed. Butt naked. Joy.
She reluctantly got up from her standard, spinny office chair and left the room, heading down the hall to wake up Kara before J’onn and the others came in and the most embarrassing day of Kara’s life commenced. As uncomfortable as the whole thing made her, she didn’t want her sister to suffer through that.
So with the bravery of a true warrior, the very professional DEO agent and doctorate carrying woman knocked on the door of the dorms and waited for her naked sister to wake up and disentangle herself from her boyfriend’s arms…She couldn’t believe this was her life. It was so…normal. Seeing as how she was used to fighting psychopaths and alien monsters every week, this was almost a refreshing change of pace. Almost.
Kara’s first conscious thought was that she didn’t think she’d ever felt more comfortable. Except for, maybe, that time when there’d been some kind of solar eclipse and she managed to catch a cold. Eliza had made her tomato soup and grilled cheese, then tucked her into bed after she had watched cartoons all day. She felt so safe at the time, with her adoptive family watching over her. It was one of her first memories of feeling accepted and loved at the Danver’s home. It was the first time it truly felt like HER home.
It was a similar feeling now, except with a little more of a mature tinge to it. She kept her eyes closed, but she could feel one of Mon El’s arms wrapped around her waist and his other hand holding hers over her chest. She squeezed his fingers and sighed, taking a moment to just snooze and relax. As Supergirl, moments to herself where she had nothing at all to worry about was not something she received off.
Damn, Mon-El, why are you so hot? She thought. And no, she didn’t mean hot as in physically attractive, although…that was true. She meant his arms around her were so warm that she’d be sweating if she were human. She’d slept and snuggled in the same bed as Alex when they were kids and she was not this warm. Maybe it was a guy thing? Being toasty when they sleep? She’d have to ask Alex or Lena-someone with more experience sleeping in the same bed as a man.
But still, his weight by her back felt good, solid. He wasn’t holding her down like he was restricting her. Rather, feeling him beside her-behind her-anchored her in her own strength somehow. She knew she wasn’t alone now, in a way she had always been alone before. Sure, she had great friends and great family, but they weren’t…her perfect partner. They didn’t understand her pain at losing her people or the awkwardness that stems from living on a foreign planet. Their bodies didn’t fit hers the way his dad, like a puzzle, as corny as it sounds. He could go into battle by her side and watch her back, literally.
But he also challenged her; he told her when she was being self-righteous or arrogant, but in a way where she still knew that he thought the world of her. He didn’t make things easy for her all the time, but that’s not what a relationship is. You don’t always get along and agree on every little thing. You fight. You bicker. You listen to each other and make up. That pattern, the pattern of a normal relationship, made her feel….not human, but like she fitted in.
Her entire life, she’d had to struggle to fit in anywhere. She has the Danvers and she’s always considered them her family. She loves them more than she does herself. But even with them, at the very beginning, she had to work to get used to being in their family, to doing things the way they did. When she first started school, she had to hide parts of herself so the other children would accept her. When she applied for jobs, like at Catco, she had to earn her place. She never just…fell naturally into place somewhere. Until Mon-El.
Being with him was just…easy. They’ve already had rough patches and there are bound to be more in their future, but even the arguing feels natural. Like its her role. Like it’s her job to yell at him and smack his arm when he’s being selfish and egotistical. And in return for inspiring him to be better, he makes her feel like she’s priceless, like he could search the stars and never find someone more amazing.
She opened her eyes, just a little bit, to peak at him as he slept. She could hear his heart beating, steady and slow. His face was completely relaxed and he looked younger when he was like this, almost boyish. Like all his worries had slipped away. There was a small smile on his lips, like he was dreaming about getting everything he’d ever wanted. She made a mental note to ask what his dreams were about once he woke up.
Kara’s little glass bubble of happiness shattered when she heard a knock at the door. She was shocked at herself for not having heard the footsteps leading up to the knock. She shot up from bed, standing by Mon-El’s still sleeping form and looked down at herself-naked. Ok, can’t answer the door like that. She looked around frantically for something to throw on and found her tank top and jeans from the night before. Her blouse was ripped to pieces, but this would do. She quickly slipped on what clothes had survived her night and super-sped to the door.
Her face went as red as her cape when she carefully peaked the door open and saw her adoptive sister’s face, looking just a tad judgy.
“Oh,” she grinned, forcing a smile along with some uncomfortable laughter,” Hi Alex!…what are you doing here so early? Wait…it is early, isn’t it?” She had been very tired after last night’s activities and she wasn’t exactly sure how long she had slept.
“Oh nothing,” she tilted her head nonchalantly, “I just came to politely ask you to, next time, refrain from having sex in view of the security cameras.” Alex Danvers had to press her lips together firmly and bite her tongue to keep from breaking out in embarrassed laughter.
Kara’s face immediately scrunched in on itself, nose crinkled like a bunny as she peaked open one eye, “Gah, the cameras….shoot….so you…you saw…” she trailed off and made a vague gesture to up and down her body. Alex had lived with Kara long enough to translate her verbal diarahea and awkward nonsensical gestures.
The older woman smirked, “I’d forgotten you had that birthmark on your-“
“Ok! So you saw everything. Uhm…”
Alex only nodded, “I’ll delete the footage. Don’t worry.”
Kara let out a deeply relieved sigh and gave her sister a half smile, “Thank you. I owe you big time. Like chocolate ice cream and movie marathon. You are seriously the best.”
“Well, of course. But I expect to hear full details on your first time during that movie night.”
“Yes ma’am,” Kara looked over her shoulder and peeked back at the sleeping Mon-El behind her. She couldn’t help but smile, “I’m just gonna go back to bed and...enjoy this a little more,” she blushed, “…is anyone else here?”
“No-we’re not technically open yet. I came in earlier to review security footage. You’re safe.”
“Thank you!” Kara hugs her sister, eternally grateful and turns around to walk back to bed.
Before Alex closes the door though, she calls to Kara, “You might wanna put makeup on that hickey before you officially clock in this morning.”
Mon-El smiled as he started to wake up, remnants of his dream still playing through his mind. Him and Kara were in bed at her apartment, sunlight filtering through the blinds to land on her back. In his dream, he had been kissing at her neck, trying to wake her up.
In reality, they were barely fitting on his cot in the DEO, but she was in his arms as he woke up and that’s all he cared about. He tucked a piece of her wayward blond hair behind her ear, not knowing if she was awake or not. He heard her release a sigh and felt her press herself back against him.
“Good morning,” she mumbled into his arm, which she was using as a pillow.
As her backside pressed against him, he realized what effect his dream had had on his body. He groaned and wrapped his free arm around her waist from behind her, “Kara, please. Have mercy.”
The woman giggled and turned her face slightly to look at him, “What? I’m just enjoying waking up like this.”
He shook his head, amused at how innocent she was, “Yes, but you’re also causing a rather painful problem for me.”
“What?” her eyebrows crinkled in confusion until she felt the hardness pressing against her ass, “Oh…” she flushed, a flash of heat running through her body from head to toe, “But all I did was cuddle into you.”
He chuckled and looked away from her eyes as he admitted, “I may have been having an adult dream about you before I woke up.”
“Oh!” she grinned, strangely happy this morning, “I was going to ask you what you were dreaming about-you were smiling in your sleep earlier.”
He smirked wickedly and pushed his erection further into her back, “I was dreaming about kissing every inch of your skin, over and over, for the rest of my life.”
She turned over onto her other side, facing him and putting a hand on his cheek, “Pretty words, pretty boy.”
He smiled sweetly at her and leaned in to kiss her nose, “I just want you to know how grateful I am that you let me have you this way, that you chose me. I want you to know how long and how much I’ve wanted this. You are everything, Kara.”
Kara froze, completely unused to having someone pour their hearts out to her that way, to having someone appreciate her for her so genuinely. He made her feel so…precious. And so alive. But she didn’t know how to word it; she wasn’t ready to confess her full feelings to him yet. So instead, she wrapped her arms around his shoulders and decided to just show him how she felt. She grinned at him as she pulled him in for a kiss, a little aggressively, tugging on his hair. He growled playfully from the back of his throat and started peppering kisses down her neck.
“Mm,” he smiled against her skin, “You smell like vanilla you know?”
She giggled, his nose tickling her throat, “I know. It’s my body lotion.”
He titled his head to look up into her eyes, crappy fluorescent lights of the dorms shining in the blue somehow, “I like it,” he grins and kisses her nose, “Don’t change it, please. It makes me think of you, makes me think of…”
“Home?” he breathed softly, stroking his cheek.
His smile widened by a thousand watts and he nodded, wrapping his arms around her tighter, “Yep.”
He leaned his body weight into her and started playfully nipping at her collarbone. Just being around her roused something in him, like something in his chest was swelling. He didn’t really know how to deal with the emotions. Fully realizing what Kara meant to him always left him feeling overwhelmed, nervous, and a little breathless. He just wanted to kiss her forever.
“Good,” she smiled cheesily, her nose crinkling in the way it does when she’s not faking anything.
She pushed him to his back and swung a leg over him, straddling his waist. She smirked at the taken aback look on his face. She leaned down and kissed him deeply, swiping her tongue past his lips and sliding her hands down his back. He moaned and pulled her hips down onto his, his need for her growing faster than he knew what to do with. He flicked his tongue, licking the roof of her mouth in the way that he learned last night made her sigh and relax her body into him.
She let out a quiet, adorably satisfied sound and gripped his shoulders a little too harshly, probably bruising him just a tad.
“Excuse me, kids,” Alex’s voice came on over the intercom, “I’d appreciate it if you’d refrain from kissy face on camera. I already have enough footage to delete.”
Mon-El’s eyes went comically wide as he heard the voice come over the loud speakers, “…Your sister…can see us?”
Kara laughed nervously and itched behind her ear, “Um yeah-we never destroyed those cameras. Did I forget to mention that?”
His eyebrows shot up as he nodded slowly, trying not to be amused, “Uh…yes, you did.”
Kara let out a breath and bit her lip, sliding off of his lap, “Sorry. She came in earlier while you were asleep. She said she’d delete the security cam footage for us. So that’s one less thing to worry about.”
Mon-El let out a laugh of disbelief and rested his head in his hands, rubbing his face, “Yep. That’s great.”
Kara’s brows furrowed in concern, picking up on his agitation, rubbing his shoulder, “Is something wrong?”
Mon-El shook his head and raised his head to meet her eyes, “No, nothing, just…how do I put this delicately in English…male problem?” he subtly glanced down to his crotch then back up to her.
Kara would bet a hundred dollars Alex was watching from the security room and laughing. She would be right.
“Oh,” Kara grimaced sympathetically, seeing his issue, “I-uhm, sorry, I…caused that.”
Her cheeks were red. She was still sort of shy dealing with this stuff; she had never been in this type of situation. Waking up with a man, with man body parts doing…what they do in the morning.
Luckily for her, said man found her awkwardness very cute.
“Don’t ever be sorry, Kara,” he smiled at her, shaking his head like she was being silly. He pulled her close and gave her a sweet kiss, “It just means I care about you and love being close to you. I do wish there was something we could do about it, but…camera…” he pointed at the camera in the corner and waved, “Hey, Alex.”
The sound of Alex clearing her throat came on over the speaker, “Mon, El. Good morning. What’s up?”
Kara had never seen someone glare at a security camera before Mon-El did in that moment, “Not funny.”
Kara fought to contain her chuckles, “…it was a little funny?” she held up two fingers an inch apart and smiled at him.
“Mm,” he hummed in irritation and laid back down, “Not when you’re the one frustrated. Come here. Let me hold you some more.”
Kara couldn’t hold back the smile at his request. She laid back down beside him and let him pull her in so their bodies were pressed as close together as possible. She couldn’t help but teasingly rub her backside against his erection, loving the pained growly moan that erupted from his throat when she did.
“Kara,” he warned, stroking her arm softly, “Do that again and I will take you in full view of the camera and your sister.”
She flushed happily, heat rushing from her cheeks to her core to her toes. She nodded and sighed out a ‘sorry’ before she rolled over to look at him.
She looked up at his steely eyes and kissed his chin, “You’re getting stubble,” she noted before nuzzling her head down in his chest.
He chuckled and stroked her hair, closing his eyes, “I lost my razor.”
She said nothing as he ran his hands up and down her back soothingly.
“Oh, that reminds me,” he yawned, possibly more comfortable than he’d ever been, “Can you give me a haircut tomorrow with the laser vision?”
“Mhm, sure,” she mumbled and smiled right before she fell back to sleep.
From the security room, Alex was happy to see that her sister had finally found someone she could be disgustingly domestic with.
At promptly 10:02 a.m, director J’onn J’onzz was walking through the DEO main control room, checking for any updates. He got a brief summary from agent Schott, regarding the new upgrade to Mon-El’s suit he was working on. He was enabling it to be lead-proof, but it was still in the testing phase. He checked with Alex to make sure that all the security camera footage was free of possible signs of invaders. She had assured him that there was absolutely nothing of note on the footage, although she had a strange smile on her face as she said it.
“Call Supergirl to come in. I want her to train some new recruits,” he told Alex, “But tell her to be softer this time, please. I don’t need more broken trainees.”
“Yes sir,” Alex nodded.
The director looked back to the resident tech wiz and questioned, “Has Mon-El checked in yet this morning? We should go over the specs of his new gear with him.”
“No, not yet, sir. He should be in the dorms, though. He checked in last night at eight,” Winn noted as he scanned the records on his screen.
“That’s odd. He’s supposed to check in at 9…” J’onn frowned, a little suspicious. It might surprise several people, but the Daxamite was usually very punctual at work. He’d never checked in more than two minutes late before.
As J’onn was speaking, Winn had opened the security camera footage for the dorms, tuning in to Mon-El’s room. His eyes widened as he took in the chunks of concrete missing from the walls, the lockers half-way knocked over, and the…clothes strewn around the room? He finally focused on Mon-El’s bed and saw two figures curled up around each other….Oh shit. He sat there in shock for a minute, at catching two of his friends half-naked in bed, before he realized that he could under no circumstances let J’onn see that. He had to protect his best friend after all.
“What is-“ Winn quickly exited out of the camera feed as J’onn came over his shoulder.
“Nothing, sir! He’s just sleeping. Must have overslept.”
J’onn’s eyes narrowed in doubt before he started confidently striding towards the dorms. “I don’t know what you’re trying to hide, Mr. Schott, but I can just walk in there and check for myself.”
After making the short journey to the residents’ dorms, J’onn threw open the door to Mon-El’s room. He didn’t know what expected to be making Mon-El late, but he was most definitely not anticipating seeing a bare Supergirl laid on top of him. If that hadn’t been enough to shock his system, his eyes widened when he took in the damage they’d done to the room around him. Oh, he very much did not want to know how any of this happened.
Feeling the anger start to build up within him, J’on slammed the door closed. At the rather loud sound of the door closing, Kara quickly shot awake, sitting up in bed. Her eyes met J’onn’s and for once in her life, she was grateful that she wasn’t human. It meant she never had to have awkward moments like this with her father figure catching her in bed with a boy. Until today.
“J’onn…if we can just get-“
Mon-El started to stir at all the commotion; he was half awake as he groaned and he rolled over in bed, stuffing his face into his pillow. How helpful, Kara thought, unable to not find how deeply he sleeps a little bit endearing.
J’onn held up one hand as a sign for Kara to stop protesting and simply be quiet, “I am going to turn around and walk out of here. I will pretend this never happened. I will dock both you and Mon-El’s next paycheck in order to pay for these repairs. You will fix the damage to this room within the next two days and we will never speak of this again. Agreed?”
“Agreed.”
Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on your perspective, Dana happened to walk by the open dorm door as J’onn scolded the two. She walked by, paused, then back-tracked. She tilted her head to see into the room subtly and noticed Mon-El’s shirtless self. She smirked to herself and looked at J’onn, “If this is a proposal for Mon-El’s super suit, I support.”

Karamel Sexy Times Shenanigans? Not So Much.
Let me preface this with a disclaimer. This is not me trying to create some sort of sexy times competition between Supergirl ships! This is simply something I noticed while watching seasons 2 and 3, and I’m wondering if anyone else had the same observation.
Okay, now that I got that out of the way...
It’s always confused me that people have complained about Alex and Maggie not being allowed to show the same level of intimacy as a hetero couple in their scenes on Supergirl. Because I remember seeing a lot more overtly sexual and intimate Sanvers scenes then the show ever gave their main m/f couple, AKA Karamel.
I said what I said.
While Kara and Mon-El may have had more actual kisses than Alex and Maggie - which makes sense because Kara is the main character and Mon-El was her love interest - most of those kisses were quick pecks that they mostly just smiled and giggled into. Sweet. Cute. Not sexy times material, though.
In fact, in 2 seasons, Kara and Mon-El had exactly one makeout sesh.
Yeah. ONE.
Alex and Maggie, on the other hand, were definitely the winners at having more sexy times scenes! Hell, even Lena and James had a more sensual morning after scene (the music! so on point!) than Karamel did.
Even Mon-El and Eve had a scene that was more risqué than anything Karamel ever had together.
(Damn, son.)
Of course I have visual confirmation. I also have sadness. Because the writers sank the Good Ships Sanvers and Karamel, and I had to relive all their sweetest, cutest, and sexiest moments to satisfy my stupid curiosity! Thanks Supergirl writers! You suck!
*ahem*
Let’s just jump right in, shall we?
SEXY TIMES SHENANIGANS... GO!
1) In bed with someone on top, kissing?
Sanvers, for the win!
Look at that lighting, they are waking up together... what a gorgeous, sensual moment, ammiright?!
Karamel got horizontal exactly once, the first time they actually kissed when one of them wasn’t dying due to biological warfare.
But it was on a couch not a bed, and was more frantic and first-timey and passionate. But not truly intimate. Not like the Sanvers scene.
ASIDE: I saw someone commenting on the scene and describing with disgust the way Mon-El was grinding all up on Kara, which led me to believe that person clearly had no idea what “Mon-El grinding all up on Kara” would actually look like. Because it wasn’t that. Not that I would have minded seeing such a thing! (For science, obviously.) I’m just saying it wasn’t that.
2) Aaaw yeah, the sensual hand clasp, baby!
We all know what that sexy visual means! Yeah we do! So Sanvers wins again.
Karamel did sort of have a sensual hand slidey-type moment, but they were not in bed together.
Plus, daydream? So...
3) Taking off each other’s clothes as they walk towards the bed
Sanvers! Yeah. That happened.
Sorry Karamel. You’re 0 for 3!
And as far as I can tell, Karamel was the real loser here because all they ever got was Mon-El putting ON his shirt... and Kara wasn’t even there to witness/enjoy it!
4) In bed, post sexy times, breathless pillow talk?
Sanvers! Winner!
Karamel never had that. Mon-El woke up alone after their first night together. And the ONE time Kara and Mon-El were in bed together there was no breathless pillowtalk, no sweaty afterglow, no indication of any sexy times whatsoever. They just appeared to be napping. Or waking up. Fully clothed. Adorable? Sure. Even somewhat intimate. But not sexy times shenanigans material.
Plus (again) it was a dream or a memory or a hallucination. No one really knows.
5) In bed, kissing and rolling out of frame for sexy times?
Sanvers. Again. Winners. They win.
There were exactly ZERO in-bed makeout sesh or sexy times for Kara and Mon-El! None. Nada. Sorry.
6) Proposition for sexy times shenanigans?
Sanvers wins here, too, with Alex waiting in sexy lingerie for Maggie to get home, with mood music and romantic lighting and a cheesy card with a love poem that said “Let’s have some fun!” *wink wink*
Of course, Maggie totally blew that moment, but the offer for sexy times (and Alex in lingerie) was there, bro!
Karamel kind of had a moment the morning after their first night together, where Mon-El sort of implied he’d like to have more sexy times. Maybe sort of? When Mon-El was all “Can we maybe just stay here?”
But Kara was like “No, dude, we have work” and Mon-El was all “Boo work!” so I guess we’ll never know.
To recap...
In all, I’d say Sanvers got some seriously sexy and intimate scenes. More than the main couple did, in any event. They were definitely the winners at it.
And again, I’m not complaining. I actually adored the sweet, pure, puppy-love aspect of the Karamel relationship in S2. Of course, I also thought Kara and Mon-El would eventually get to enjoy a more intimate and sexy relationship in S3 (especially after the 3x01 opening scene - phew!), but I think we all know how that turned out.
Did I mention the writers suck? Because they do. They really really do.
