Hermitcraft season 6 featured an unknown individual known only as The Jingler, who conducted a series of pranks on several hermits. Those who fell victim to the Jingler's pranks were often referred to as being "#Jingled". Some pranks included (but are not limited to) vandalizing Grian's map room to say "You have been J-J-Jingled!!!", and leaving a mysterious book in Hermitville with coordinates that merely led to a sign reading, "GG You've been had! #Jingled".

The Jingler's identity was never revealed by the time Season 6 had concluded. Fans and hermits alike speculated their true identity for years. Many fans believed them to be Grian, however it was unlikely as Grian already had two prankster alter egos in Season 6, Poultry Man and The Salmon Ghost. GoodTimesWithScar was revealed to be the Jangler, a different entity entirely with no official ties to the Jingler. Rendog was suspected of being the Jingler for asking his viewers to "jingle that [notification] bell" at the end of his videos. Tango was also suspected of being the Jingler, as his returns to the server coincidentally aligned with the Jingler's pranks.

The most in-depth search for the identity of the jingler on the Hermitcraft server appears to be from Joehills. Upon checking the community mailbox, Joehills discovered a message from the Jingler left in every hermit's mailbox. Deciding that he could not let this devious behavior continue, he set out to follow a trail to reveal their true identity. He initially asks for the help of his viewers to gather intel from other hermit's videos, however this effort would prove fruitless as the Jingler carefully made sure to never reveal themselves on camera. Joe suspects a parrot by the name of Jingles to be behind the pranks, claiming that the parrot works for ConCorp. However, it is possible he was actually thinking of Captain Jack Sparrow, the CEO of ConCorp, and the lead seemed to come to a dead end.

The Jingler's identity was still unknown by the end of season 6, leaving both fans and hermits to speculate on their identity for years. Many began to believe there was no one true Jingler, but the hermits as a collective conducted a multitude of pranks under one common alias.

The Jingler's identity was finally revealed on April 23, 2022 on the Hermitcraft 10-year anniversary livestream. Cub admitted to being the Jingler, notably only after being asked directly by Jevin. Grian in particular was so distraught by the revelation that he joined the discord call from his mobile phone to comment on the situation.

Hermitcraft season 6 began in July of 2018, meaning that the identity of the Jingler was kept a secret for roughly 4 years. It is possible that this is the longest-kept secret in all of Hermitcraft history. The only known "evidence" of Cub being the Jingler is when he is seen during Impulse's Season 6 episode 32 asking if Grian has completed the infinity room. It is likely Cub was inquiring either to see if he could vandalize the map without Grian noticing, or to see Grian's reaction if the prank had already been carried out. Besides this small piece of circumstantial evidence, there was virtually no proof of Cub being the Jingler prior to April 2022. The most concerning detail in this story is, perhaps, the fact that the identity of the Jingler was only revealed when Cub was directly confronted by Jevin on stream. It is unknown if Cub ever planned to reveal the Jingler's identity on his own, and he very well may have intended to take this secret to the grave.

hello! this is random but a post about convex in demise s6 popped up in my feed and it intrigued me. i never watched s6 and im curious to know, what's the sort of "plot" for demise? all i know is that demise was thought of by grian, but you mentioned xisuma coding it and the convex having something to do with it? is that just headcanon or based on something canon? either way, i'm intrigued!

So, in canon, Demise in season 6 was a game invented by Grian where whoever lasted the longest without dying won, but when you died, you got to sabotage and murder other players (but only through traps, not direct PvP)

For Cub’s canon, he took the guise of the superhero ‘Mr Invincible’ and performed death-defying stunts until he was killed. Upon dying, his demise skin was very, VERY vexy — with bluish skin, glowing eyes and a vex smile. It’s the same skin he said he used when pranking as The Jingler, an alias he made for himself, pranking the whole server (including his own stuff) completely anonymously (and only revealed it was him early Season 8).

I don't think Scar had any particular Demise lore (he was ill for a lot of it, or working on other projects).

I feel like Ren would've had some kind of complicated lore involving demise, but I haven't watched his perspective to see, it's only from general Ren experience and how he acts in other people's videos.

The thought of Xisuma coding it and ConVex involvement is purely headcanon. I imagine it being less of X having to do with the creation and running of Demise (Grian's a watcher, he's got the magical ability to do that by himself), but the Vex and/or Watchers stop him being aware of any of the possession/dangers/unusual activity of other players during it. He was the 3rd hermit out of Demise, so clearly they got rid of him quickly.

My headcanon of ConVex involvement in demise is that Cub was possessed throughout death by the Vex. As in, for the entire time after he died, the Vex were controlling his actions. (and according to the oneshot I wrote, he was conscious and unable to do anything the whole time, and the ensuing trauma is the reason why Cub and Scar stopped with the Vex stuff after Season 6, and why Cub changed his skin in Season 8)

I am getting back into HS because of you! I actually have been thinking about it for a bit... Something I've been feeling recently though, is the idea that my interpretations, my works, my views of these characters could not reasonably sit next to others', whose are all more nuanced, more in-depth and researched... but I really enjoy your takes, and I'm gradually understanding tjat even if I'm not a true Halwarrior, or a Jake Jingler, I can still make meaningful works with these characters even if I don't know Every detail of them or nuanced perspective on them. I suppose I feel like my output in the fandom, in relation to canon, has been lackluster! It's been almost 10 years since I got into Homestuck, and even now I blank on vital stuff... but I really appreciate your takes and art and creations, because it makes me feel more at ease and intrigued by things I don't fully comprehend (like how I've read the comic 5 times and still feel like a bucket of mud after reading the dialogue boxes more than 2 sentences LOL), rather than hesitant to create. I hope this all makes sense, it's kinda like I'm typing whatever comes to mind right now. But all in all, thank you. I've had my fair share of rough times in this fandom, but I love it dearly. And even though we don't know each other, I'm glad there is somebody like you out there. Stay strong, and have a wonderful new year.

hi thank you for taking the time to write this all out it makes me really happy to hear that you're getting back into hs :)!! i definitely know what you are feeling and often feel the same way, i see a lot of people who have been around the scene much longer than me who've done a lot of thinking & writing about the story who have much more interesting & well thought-out things to say compared to me. but i think of the two cakes theory and remember that we all have something unique to contribute! i don't really think there's such thing as a "lackluster" contribution to fandom because there's no requirement to contribute to fandom at all. even if you wanted to just sit back and see what others do, or not even engage at all, there's nothing wrong with that. this is not a class that we are trying to get a good grade in, it's a community of fans that we all engage with because it's supposed to be fun and enjoyable. i share my thoughts because i would explode if i didn't get them out and i like to draw little things because it's my way of expressing my love of this comic. even if i may disagree with people from time to time (frankly, i think my new year's resolution should be to be less of a hater), i still like to hear other people's perspectives and interpretations, and what really makes the hs fandom stand out to me is the community i'm part of where we can exchange our thoughts and ideas

Headcanon 16

I’m saying this is Headcanon 16 and just rolling with it.

Anyway,

The Vex love Scar. They enjoy his pranks, they like him being a vexling. He has all the charisma, and chaos, and most of all obedience of a good Vexling. He was Chosen by the vex especially.

Cub wasn’t.

The Vex hate Cub. Cub’s disobedient, and asks questions, and gets defensive, and doesn’t understand that he does what they say. And, the Vex like picking a favourite of Vexling pairs.

Cub was never properly Chosen to be Vexling. The Vex just realised he could be a good puppet for them, and could protect Scar. So he became a Vexling too. And ever since that day, they made Cub aware that Scar was the Good Vexling, and he was the Bad Vexling. The Vex forced Cub to be the Jingler, and be forced into a horrific state of half-possession, aware of everything and but unable to move on his own. And Scar knew that the Vex bullied Cub, but there was nothing he could do to stop them except swear to protect Cub from them, whatever it took.
