not to be an insufferable hipster on main but…I still remember the moment I first discovered Chappell Roan a couple years ago. I stumbled upon pink pony club by chance a few days after it was released, and it had me INSTANTLY sold on her. immediately made my partner listen to the song, which is honesty something I almost never do (I remember trying to sell it by calling her the lovechild of Caroline Polachek and Orville Peck…don’t know if that totally holds true, but you know? I’ll still stand by it lol). I followed her single releases religiously. I kept forcing femininomenon and casual and hot to go on anyone who made the mistake of sitting in my car. I legit considered driving HOURS to see her perform a few songs in a dive bar in 2022, just because I wanted her to feel encouraged that her music meant something and could be something (sadly I didn’t and I very much regret it). and I’ve never had this experience before, but idk…you just KNEW she was going to be something, you know? you could absolutely feel it. the ✨je ne sais quois✨of it all.

and I just gotta say…I really feel like a proud parent right now 🥲 I do kind of wish she didn’t blow up so fast, purely for her sake. but, man. it’s been so cool to have had that indescribable feeling a couple years ago and then be able to watch her enrapture every other listener in the exactly same way. it’s wild…siren woman fr.
