books I’ve read in 2023 📖 no. 010
The Good Lie by A.R. Torre
“We were a wrecked car, barreling down the highway without lights, our steering locked into place. I could put a seat belt on. I could reach out and jab the hazard lights on. But I couldn’t turn off the car, and I couldn’t seem to open the door and fling myself out.”

The Good Lie
A.R. TORRE

About Breaking news of the towns very own serial killer’s later was let go and the boy had run his way back to his parents. He still had the bloody heart killer’s signature carving on the centre of his chest like all 6 other victims although once you start digging a little later things start to make less and less sense. Gwen has been keeping tabs on the case and has her own theories on who it could be and suspicion only grew stronger once the father of the sixth victim showed up at her doorstep.
Review This book ended up being better than expected. I had several hesitations throughout the book about the way i thought the story could lead. Im not the biggest fan of the unreliable narrator trope or when books use mental illness like personality disorders as a neat way to wrap up the characteristics of the trademark ‘evil’ person. This book did neither but there were times i was confident the narrative was heading that way. I liked that in this case the police werent the only ones hiding clues, actually most of the characters we were introduced to held with them their own set of secrets to add to the story. The end wasn’t some giant plot twist but surprised me in its own right and was probably my favourite part of the entire thing. It felt like the final puzzle piece that made everything go from almost making sense to clicking exactly into place. Dont have much negative things to say about the book in fact i even really liked the little lawyer and psychologist love story that almost ended in murder. It is one of those books that you kind of get the itch to reread just to see if it played out just as good knowing what you now know about when and how they figured out the ‘killer’

We don't need Heaven, we don't need Hell, they're toxic. We need to get away from them, just be an us. You and me, what do you say?

We always talk about how David Tennant manages to pull off the duality of Crowley's look (the switch from angel to demon) and generally change his entire appearance for the different roles he plays but me personally, I am just SO baffled at how they manage to turn Michael Sheen into Aziraphale
