Warlock: The Fathomless (2024) (Homebrew)
This is my own take on The Fathomless using the 2024 rules for Warlock. This post will be deleted if this subclass gets updated to 2024 rules. Changes are described at the end.
From: Tasha's Cauldron of Everything
You have plunged into a pact with the deeps. An entity of the ocean, the Elemental Plane of Water, or another otherworldly sea now allows you to draw on its thalassic power. Is it merely using you to learn about terrestrial realms, or does it want you to open cosmic floodgates and drown the world?
Perhaps you were born into a generational cult that venerates the Fathomless and its spawn. Or you might have been shipwrecked and on the brink of drowning when your patron’s grasp offered you a chance at life. Whatever the reason for your pact, the sea and its unknown depths call to you.
Entities of the deep that might empower a Warlock include krakens, ancient water elementals, godlike hallucinations dreamed into being by kuo-toa, merfolk demigods, and sea hag covens.
Spells: The magic of your otherworldly patron ensures you always have certain spells ready; when you reach a Warlock level specified below, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared. Spells can be found in my tags
Level 3: Create or Destroy Water, Gust of Wind, Thunderwave, Silence
Level 5: Lightning Bolt, Sleet Storm
Level 7: Control Water, Evard's Black Tentacles
Level 9: Bigby's Hand (Appears as a Tentacle), Conjure Elemental
Level 3 Tentacle of the Deeps: You can magically summon a spectral tentacle that strikes at your foes. As a Bonus Action, you create a 10-foot-long tentacle at a point you can see within 60 feet of you. The tentacle lasts for 1 minute or until you use this feature to create another tentacle.
When you create the tentacle, you can make a melee spell attack against one creature within 10 feet of it. On a hit, the target takes 1d8 Cold damage, and its speed is reduced by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. When you reach level 10 in this class, the damage increases to 2d8.
As a Bonus Action on your turn, you can move the tentacle up to 30 feet and repeat the attack. You can summon the tentacle a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.
Level 3 Gift of the Sea: You gain a Swim Speed of 40 feet, and you can breathe underwater.
Level 6 Oceanic Soul: You are now even more at home in the depths. You have Resistance to Cold damage. In addition, when you are fully submerged, any creature that is also fully submerged can understand your speech, and you can understand theirs.
Level 6 Guardian Coil: Tentacle of the Deeps can now defend you and others, interposing itself between them and harm. When you or a creature you can see takes damage while within 10 feet of the tentacle, you can take a Reaction to choose one of those creatures and reduce the damage to that creature by an amount equal to 1d8 plus half your Warlock level.
Level 10 Grasping Tentacles: You can cast Evard’s Black Tentacles without expending a spell slot, and you regain the ability to do so when you finish a Long Rest.
When you cast this spell, your patron’s magic ensures the spell’s resiliency. Your Concentration on the spell is only broken if you have the Incapacitated condition, and Concentrating on it does not prevent you from Concentrating on other Warlock spells.
Level 14 Fathomless Tentacles: As a Magic action, enormous spectral tentacles burst from your surroundings, which grab you and up to 5 creatures of your choice that you can see within 30 feet of you. The tentacles move each creature to an unoccupied space you can see of your choice within 120 feet of its starting position, and then disappear. Unwilling creatures can make a Strength saving throw against your spell save DC to avoid being moved.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a Short or Long Rest.
Changes:
Spell list has been made always prepared
Summon Elemental and Cone of Cold have been replaced with Evard’s Black Tentacles and Conjure Elemental.
Tentacle of the Deeps can be used a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier, instead of proficiency bonus
Guardian Coil’s damage reduction has been changed from 1d8 (later 2d8) to be 1d8 plus half your Warlock level.
Grasping Tentacles no longer grants temporary hit points when you cast Evard's Black Tentacles, but Evard's Black Tentacles now doesn’t prevent you from Concentrating on other Warlock spells
The capstone, which was previously a very situational teleport, has been redesigned into a battlefield repositioning ability.

Ryuku Ref (Concept Art)
Some old concept art of a DND Triton I had in mind for a group. Ryuku here is a Triton Warlock (Actually a Changeling but, doesn't know it). Their goal in life is pretty much what their patron wants and that's knowledge, lots of it. Especially from land dweller variety.  --------------------------------- I'm around on other platforms too! Bluesky, Ko-Fi, and Tumblr to name a few- If you're interested in commissions, my prices are linked set in the link below. Feel free to take a look at my linktree ^u^  Mx.Corvidae ---------------------------------

listen I know it's heartbreaking that Claudia dies and it's understandable to wish she didn't, but let's please not accuse the writers of fridging her. to do so is a fundamental misunderstanding of the story and is frankly insulting to the intelligence and skill of the writers of the show.
Claudia's death, and the overwhelming grief and regret her parents experience because of it, is quite literally the point of the entire story. she dies because Anne's daughter Michele died of leukemia when she was five years old and there was nothing she or her husband could do to prevent it.
writing IWTV was how Anne coped with the unimaginable loss of a parent losing her child. she created a story about a little girl that could not die and then killed her anyway. Claudia's death is a senseless, unavoidable tragedy, just like Michele's was. the grief that haunts Louis and Lestat for the rest of their lives is the same grief that haunted Anne and her husband.
so when you're accusing people of killing Claudia off to benefit a story about two men, please remember that in real life sometimes parents lose their children. please remember Michele Rice.

she's the reason Claudia exists.
she's also the reason Claudia cannot be saved.

I'm back from my hiatus!
You may be wondering why I deleted the fic.
Well, it's because it felt incomplete. I didn't finish the CGs and there's some inconsistencies. It didn't feel fair to give you all an incomplete fic.
So for now, I'm gonna post the CGs and fine-tune the fic so that it's the best it could be!
Anyway, here's the next Ultimate Talent card, for Morjurn, the Ultimate Poker Player!

Her final tweet on October 8 reads:
“Gaza’s night is dark apart from the glow of rockets, quiet apart from the sound of the bombs, terrifying apart from the comfort of prayer, black apart from the light of the martyrs. Good night, Gaza.”

A bunch of people have been reblogging some old art of my dnd character Len and I wanted to show off his updated design!
He’s had some ✨character development✨ in the last few years and continues to despise everything to do with the ocean :)

ok yeah we got three deaths. Its a good card, what can I say.
Justice belongs to Dekan Moira Yael, a wizard from the academy of battle magics in Commdolme. As a character, my players loved and hated her, as she made some rather cruel decisions but was overall a competent wizard.
The hanged man is Ser Gauvain and the personal knight of Lady Ysolde Acroux. He exists only for her. 100% commitment. Biggest golden retriever ever.
Now lets get to the deaths... Two of them are player characters. The first card is Ludwic, a circle of the moon druid that lost his home and is trying to stop other people from losing their homes and families. The second card is Lady Allaris Eclair, the countess of Ludwic's home, Silv Paix, who burned her entire land and city down and then left the country in service of the demon lord of vengeance, Aeshma. The third card is a player character, an aberrant mind sorcerer and fathomless warlock called Ikal, one of the few Varathi that are left to travel the plane after their entire culture was destroyed by the pantheon of the gods. They were sorta bad people, you see. But now they are sad people. His death card is kind of a bonus card for the player, and it is very edgy. It shows is Tasha's Otherworldy Guise that he chose to use ONLY because it makes him look edgy. I 100% understand and support this.
