If you're an Oath of Ancients paladin, letting all the spawn free breaks your oath. An oath you served faithfully for years, devoted yourself to, and are discarded with no second thought after helping 7,000 innocents get a choice in their fates.

Two people who've just witnessed the death of who they used to be, who've processed immeasurable loss in the aim of being kind, realize they're no longer bound to anything. After the Oathbreaker knight vanishes, Ursa collapses, shell shocked, and Astarion realizes just how similar they really are, and drops to his knees before her to embrace her.

Oath of the Ancients Paladin who:

is basically a walking garden, their armor is always covered in plants, roots, and branches; you can harvest medicinal herbs from them like they're terrarium

are at home in elven keeps and druid groves, even those that don't tolerate any other outsider

quickly gains the favor of Emerald Grove and bonds with Halsin over their experiences with druid circles and their love for nature

has a fey friend that follows them around, be it a fairy, pixie, fairy dragon, brownie, or bling dog; especially if its a unicorn, it makes everyone in the camp lose their shit

whenever they step, flowers bloom and longer richer grass starts to sprout

blooms all types of flowers for Karlach and teaches her how to make wreaths out of them

is frequently approached by various critters because they instill in them a sense of peace and comfort and they chat with them all the time

smells like forest rain, moss, rotting leaves or herbs

their appearance changes depending on the season of the year

tells Wyll about that one time their path led them to Feywild

enjoys and partakes in any form of art, be it painting, playing an instrument, or singing

become so imbued with ancient spell-warding magic as they progress, their presence alone wards off fey and fiends, and the Weave gets distorted around them, to Gale's eternal chagrin

stops suffering from the drawbacks of old age, making them as eternal as Astarion; the pale elf now has a friend who will never leave him

the most hilarious thing just happened to me in BG3 My oath of the ancients paladin broke his oath by setting the vampire spawn free in Cazador's palace. I was talking to the Oathbreaker knight to explore whether to keep my oath or become an oath breaker. Just as my Tav went through his crisis of faith and decided to restore his oath the camera aligned just right so that in the background of one of the most important moments in my Tav's story.... there's Karlach... dancing her heart out

Restoring the Oath

You proved that you are able to control your urge by saving your beloved one from yourself. Moonrise Towers are no longer the Absolute's heart and light came back on the land of shadows, all thanks to you. You feel like you're finally worthy of your lost oath.

My first dark urge playthrough truly crawled its way to my heart, and this scene was just beautiful.

Fun D&D idea for DMs: Your players need to find a certain scroll for the next stage of their quest, but the only place to acquire it is a shop owned by a soft-spoken aasimar (who's notorious in town for never selling anything) and his grumpy tiefling husband.

And if the players try to take the scroll by theft or violence, for example, they learn that the aasimar is a retired max-level Oath of the Ancients paladin and the tiefling is a very creative rogue, and neither of them can be having with this murder-hobo nonsense. >:D

Introducing my BG3 tav Silas!!! (ignore that his name is Cyrus in the stats pic)

He's not my main tav (i haven't managed to draw Kairius right yet) but he means so much to me

He's for a challenge run where I can only non-lethal people and have to try to talk my way out of as many situations as possible.

I'm writing so much lore for him in my mind and I have a fic idea for him and Astarion in the works :}

He's a Zariel tiefling, oath of the ancients paladin, and a folk hero (though i may start my file over and make him a soldier for lore reasons... I'm not that far in with him i COULD)!

What's your favorite DND Multiclass and why?

Mine, personally, is a Paladin/Barbarian, because Paladin is my favorite Half-Caster, and both Barbs and Paladins provide really interest Personal journeys, from changing and breaking oaths, to how a Rage manifests - My favorite character was a Path of the Beast/Oath of Ancients Warrior Princess Triton, whose title was very very long, but was Generally called "Gnash" for short

The Path of Beast states the origin; Such a barbarian might be inhabited by a primal spirit or be descended from shape-shifters. You can choose the origin of your feral might or determine it by rolling on the Origin of the Beast table.

As a Triton she of course lived in the Sea, with her Beast part being Flavored as a Thresher Tail, a Goblin Shark Jaw, and "Brine Crystal" Claws, Naturally.

The sea, if you didn't know, is generally a very dark place, with the Tenets of the Ancients being

-Kindle the Light. Through your acts of mercy, kindness, and forgiveness, kindle the light of hope in the world, beating back despair.

-Shelter the Light. Where there is good, beauty, love, and laughter in the world, stand against the wickedness that would swallow it. Where life flourishes, stand against the forces that would render it barren.

-Preserve Your Own Light. Delight in song and laughter, in beauty and art. If you allow the light to die in your own heart, you can't preserve it in the world.

-Be the Light. Be a glorious beacon for all who live in despair. Let the light of your joy and courage shine forth in all your deeds.

They're all about Light.

and you might think "Oh that's an interesting contradiction" but the thing is, There is light at the bottom of the ocean, in Anglerfish and Algae and Hydrothermal vents, and there is life to celebrate in the ocean - her whole deal was that she was very nonchalant about everything until someone did something that threatened the ocean - Excessive Trawling, Dumping waste, generally disrespecting the land and sea.

Her and Her siblings were forces of Nature.

Gnash Represented the Life of the Ocean. She Bared their Teeth and Scales, to Rake and Cull those who disrupted the balance.

Her younger Sister, Surge, represented the Tides and Currents. Roared with the waves and hummed to the drowned, giving comfort to the lost and doing her best to guide whatever soul found itself in the ocean to where it needed to be, whether it was abyss or home.

Their last Sibling, Sessile, the youngest, represented the Cycle of the ocean - the Spawn and the Whalefall. They were, as their name implies, the least active of the three, but by far the most Ornery about their position.

Gnash, The Physical - Fight for the Ocean

Surge, The Emotional - The Ocean Fighting

Sessile, the Material - The Cycle of Death and Detritus.
