Hello! I am back with another question that I also tried to search for beforehand lol don't wanna spam you with things you've already answered 😅 But I was wondering, about how long do you think it takes for you to finish certain pieces? (sorry I know that's a broad question) For example the Gortash painting of him manspreading on his throne lol I also follow you on patreon and probably spent 10 minutes just zooming into the painting, completely in awe of the detail! Its insane 😩❤️ How long did that piece take you???
Hi there!! That piece in particular took longer for me as it was a commission, so discussion and sketching, plus the pressure made it take longer than usual. I think it was a full 40 hour work week at least to finish that piece. I try to do pieces with backgrounds semi-regularly so I don't get too rusty but it's definitely not my favorite thing to paint just because of all of the elements that go into it.
For portraits they take me a couple of days to paint. Ultimately if I can't finish ANY piece in about 3 days tops I will throw it out, unless it's a commissioned piece. If I don't have the momentum to finish a piece quickly, I start to hate it quite rapidly lol.
Usually my process is: Get an idea and proceed to dehydrate myself and barely sleep until it is done, and repeat.
I know that my Hellsbound Hearts (Karlach x Dammon romance novel cover) piece took me about 2 weeks on and off, I nearly scrapped it many times but I was really determined to make it work and I'm very happy with the result. This is very rarely the case, I'm still shocked I finished that piece with how frustrated and bored I was with it. Now I look back on it and it's one of my favorites, but man I was glad when it was finished lol!
