Chapter One Teaser!

Just a little excerpt I though I should treat you guys to!

You just needed a few coins. Of course, if Kane found out you had broken the training rules she would skin you, but if she would rather you waste away in the Forests of Eprain, on her head be it.  Rowdy jeers erupted around you as you drained the rest of the ale from the tankard. You slam the glass down on the chipped mahogany wood of the bar. Glasses litter the surface. Hands shake you and clap you on the back causing you to sway slightly on your seat. Sure there were different, less self-indulgent ways you could have picked to earn coin, but a drinking game with what could no less be described as the most gods awful ale you had ever tasted seemed the most appealing at the time.  The glowing lanterns glare down at you tauntingly. Your stomach churns as you try not to wretch. You place a steadying hand on the counter as your head spins. The man next to you glances at his measly collection of glasses and lets out an exaggerated groan before chucking a gold coin into your lap. “I’m a man of my word,” he scoffs, scratching his stubble,” But you won’t catch me lacking like this again.” The crowd that had gathered around you both slowly dissipated, looking for entertainment elsewhere.  You snatch it quickly and shove it into the coin sack tied to your belt. He leans forward slightly, trying to see through the darkness your hood casts on your face. “You never did mention your name-”

He definitely asks you about incorporating this more often

He's a little hesitant, mostly because he doesn't want to disappoint you.

But once you try it, he's Hooked. Capital H and all.
