hey can anyone give me recs for good spooky audio dramas?
Also bonus points if there’s gays in it (although honestly at this point I go into podcasts assuming there will be, and am hardly ever wrong)
Ones I’ve liked and listened to are: the Magnus archives, the box, king falls am, old gods of Appalachia, darkest night, limetown, spines, the bright sessions, wolf 359, all the public radio alliance ones, Alice isn’t dead, archive 81, life after, the message, the far meridian, the bridge, mirrors, the 12:37, penumbra, strange case of starship iris, girl in space, the leap year society, Mabel, and the white vault

Bonus Poll #8: Puppet Poll
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda (stolen unedited from the wikis):
Immortal Doll (Friends at the Table: Bluff City)
The immortal doll is a puppet doll similar in appearance to a little boy. After being broken by the Neighbour family, the doll was repaired by Marlin Guppy, who was somehow able to give it additional sentience (as all objects have partial consciousness). It has been speculated that “the paint makes [the doll] immortal because the paint never dries”. Although the immortal doll cannot speak, while covered in magnets in Part Five of America's Playground it can make an affirmative and negative sound. When seen in America’s Playground, he is dressed in a little suit with a magnetic suit underneath. The immortal doll is described as long long-limbed and gregarious, leaving a dripping trail behind it. He moves as though he’s falling in a very specific way, as though his limbs are connected by rubber bands, similar to the spider man in Spirited Away. Known Abilities: Transporting to a different location Movement Getting longer (may be dependent on how many people are looking at it) "Speaking" (when covered in magnets)
Nikola Orsinov (The Magnus Archives):
Nikola Orsinov is a recurring character in the Magnus Archives and is either an acolyte or an aspect of The Stranger. She appears as a plastic female mannequin dressed as a circus ringmaster, although she can disguise herself as human using stolen skin and a 'borrowed' voicebox. She is the main antagonist of Season 3.
(Sorry for lack of audio propaganda. The Magnus Archives is the most well-known of these anyways.)
Persnickety Pete (The Bridge):
Persnickety Pete aka Parsnip Paul aka Pretentious Pierre aka Particular Pietro is a ventriloquist dummy and mayor of Ocean View. Persnickety Pete has vacant eyes, a creepy smile, and a tux, like one would expect a ventriloquist dummy to look. He was part of a new act for Ocean View's Triton's Follies, where he cycled through a variety of partners (who he most likely killed). After an issue with the Actors Association, he was declared mayor of Ocean View, purging all of the actors in the process. He attacked Frank Hayward for disrespecting him and turned the man's arm into something that resembled a crushed tomato. Persnickety Pete is a showman, and while he is both creepy and violent, he puts The Show above all else. He becomes easily upset when people aren't nice to him, and will lash out. He likes to try to convince people to put him in front of mirrors.
(The work assembling the song from the clips in the episode was done by @greerbaiting and you can reblog the audio by itself posted by them.)
Inspired by @the-puppet-bracket and a post by @equalseleventhirds!

So anyway I finally listened to Left of the Dial and found myself sad that Archive 81 is on an indefinite hiatus so I went looking for other podcasts and found The Bridge, which is a wonderful wonderful podcast that is…. also on indefinite hiatus.
On the plus side season 7 of Within the Wires is fully out now so I’m probably going to listen to that when I go to visit the friend I got into it together with tomorrow.
Anyway, if you have any podcast recommendations that are in that vein of weird fiction to horror plz send them my way.

One of my summer resolutions is to get back into listening to more fiction podcasts that I haven't heard yet. Under the line will be a complete list of podcasts I have listened to or am currently listening to (I will specify) and I'm gonna color code the names based off how much I liked them and I'd love it if y'all could suggest shows based off of that, thank you :)

Jolie's thoughts on
The problem of Thor Bridge (Sherlock & Co. podcast)
(Hear me gush about the show in general.)
So this is one of my favourite original ACD cases, in spite of the somewhat anticlimactic solution. And I wasn’t disappointed by this version. I love it when Holmes does his dramatic recreations of the crimes. You can imagine how I squeaked with delight at how Sherlock hijacked the police press conference in this episode!
The "time is against us" aspect of the original that adds extra pressure and suspense was rendered perfectly in the morgue scene. "On behalf of the Federal Republic of Brazil, I'd like to see the body." YES!
Sherlock really gets extra points for cool lines in this one. "Watson, I was hoping that when I said 'The game is on'…"
Sherlock speaking Cornish, Portuguese and every other language under the sun is lovely, too.
"Would you like to hold hands and talk about your emotions?" 🥺
"I like you as you are, Watson." 🥺🥺
MARIANA: Where are your shoes?
JOHN: Where are my shoes?
SHERLOCK: What time is it? Seven thirty. Probably in the North Sea.
MARIANA: Oh. OK.
The sheer unflappability of this woman. She’s brilliant.
More, please!

Sexiest Podcast Character — Scripted Bracket — Round 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda
Georgie Crusoe (Wooden Overcoats):
she's great at being sexy
Can literally do anything. Very cool about it. Absolute bicon
She is great at everything and I think that's very sexy
Kate Burnham (The Bridge):
A travel agent, which seems to be code for secret agent. Incredibly competent and according to the wiki "has a knack for creating mischief".

travis matagot just -- the very concept of him unlocks something deep and feral in my brain, even aside from all the changeling stuff. an angel looked upon you once as a child and, after seeing every possible thread and pathway of the man you will grow into one day, said 'I see no sin here' even as its holy flames consumed your screaming parents and the town around you. that angel, having stumbled head over heels to earth after killing god, later deliberately loses their name to you in a card game so the eyes of heaven can't find them. you and the angel have proceeded to annoy the everloving FUCK out of each other for centuries because you just keep. bumping. into each other!!!! through the power of like Narrative and also simply being two of the only people who've even been around that long. you've kept their name for them this whole time and never breathed a word of it, even though they seemingly never even explained why they wanted to lose it in the first place. you've sworn to die together or not at all.
what if you met an eldritch horror as a child and then became their best (and most irritating) friend/life partner/frenemy/perpetual thorn in their side (affectionate). I'm obsessed with this idea of being divinely judged as unworthy of damnation so early in your life and having to have that in the back of your head forever even as your self-loathing and trauma start piling up over the centuries and you have done so many shitty things along the way. like. is he trying to prove them wrong. is that part of his whole thing about trying to escape the narrative. or is it to prove that 'no actually awful things happen to me because I'm awful, you got it wrong from the start (fuck you btw)' because at least that feels like a choice, like some kind of control to hold on to? what is going on here travis. what the fuck

36 is @thebridgepodcast!
In an alternate 2016, the Transcontinental Bridge crosses the Atlantic Ocean. Watchtower 10 was one of the many watchtowers originally built alongside the bridge to keep the vehicles and people crossing safe - but there's no longer any traffic.
A total of 27 full and mini episodes. On indefinite hiatus.
