[ - Magisters Sidereals - ]
And each was promised Power and glory beyond all reckoning If they would only come to the feet of the gods and ask. And so they joined in secret, telling none Who were not of the temples of their designs. And in Minrathous, in the heart of the Archon a sliver of fear grew, Stabbing like a wound. Though he knew not why. —Silence 1:1-1:17, Dissonant Verse
They'll be featured in some Fade/flashback scenes later on in my fanfic 'Nothing but ambition where hearts once beat' so I decided to come up with some fun designs for these 7 bastards ♡
I was definitely going for that "you're playing with the big boys now" vibe from Prince of Egypt, lmao.

this was my first introduction to Generator Rex, to Rex Salazar specifically. I saw it for like a few minutes when I was 8, but these scenes burned themselves into my brain, and in another 10 or so years I re-discovered the show, became obsessed, and memorized every scene from every episode (except the prank one, because that episode was a mistake). Why?
because this scene permanently impacted how I saw heroes. they aren't there to beat the bad guy. they're there to save people. and they do it not because they are forced to, or guilted into it. they do it because they want to. because they care if people get hurt, even if those people are complete strangers.
these scenes are largely responsible for my disdain for modern live-action superhero spectacles, where the heroes "save the day", but leave countless civilians dead.
it is also the reason why I have come to love shows like Justice League Unlimited:

Or Invincible:

or the new show, My Adventures with Superman:

they GET IT. they GET WHY SAVING PEOPLE IS IMPORTANT.
because at the end of the day, it's not beating up the villain of the week that is important. it's saving lives.

I'm so excited to finally post these ahhh!! Here are my contributions to the Xeno Compendium project from last year! I provided an illustration for the book itself, but if you bought the special edition you'll find two postcards that were also illustrated by me! I can't thank everyone who was involved in this project enough. I've never been a part of such a big fan project before so I'm just so happy to be a part of it!!

This, right here, of all the things The Veilguard did wrong - and they’ve done wrong a lot of things - this right here is the worst thing they’ve done.
Because they gave us an entire expansion pack dedicated to the fact that the Darkspawn are as much the victims of the Old Gods and the blight as the rest of the world.
They have spent an entire expansion pack, HOURS of gameplay, to show us that the Darkspawn can be reasoned with, that they crave freedom, that they can be freed from the yolk of the song, that they can be helped, where at the end you can side with the guy who is helping them and let them be.
They gave us all this only, at the end, at the culmination of the story of the blight and Darkspaw, guve us 3 sentences to basically say “ah nah. Fuck them”
I joke sometimes Justice For The Architect but now I say it with pure sincerity, as seriously as I can. Justice for the Architect, justice for Dragon Age Awakening and justice for the player base who invested hours upon hours into a storyline only to be told “yeah we’re not actually doing that”.

Have we talked about this codex? Can we talk about this codex? It’s found in an old ruin in Dock Town.
You know what this means? That Old Tevinter had knowledge about ‘Those Across the Sea.’ It also means that the Architect, who was the high priest of Urthemiel, wanted to build a shield to protect against them and that he might possibly be the only living being (that we know of, besides Solas) that has knowledge of who or what they are?
Oh how I would love to see him reappear in future games. The gray morality of reaching for help and trying to work with an old Tevinter Magister for information against the new threat - oh how tasty that would be.
