Season 3 Rewatch Drabbles: 3x9 Save Henry

Summary:  A series of 100-500 word drabbles to accompany my    rewatch of season 3 of Once Upon a Time.  There will be a drabble–either a deleted scene, a “fix it” fic or a character musing for each episode of the season.  Focus will be on Emma, Henry, the Charmings and Killian–with an emphasis on Captain Swan’s epic love story.

Note: It had been my plan to keep at least 3a thoroughly CS focused in these drabbles, with the POV changing from episode to episode between Killian and Emma (this episode was meant to be a Killian episode), but after watching this episode, the big sister/aunt/godmother in me, who has been around and helped care for babies all my life, absolutely had to step in and have someone give first-time mom Regina a little advice about how to handle a crying newborn. (disclaimer: I’m not a mother, so I’m well aware I can’t possibly know the full extent of what it means to be a parent, and I’m not in any way trying to lecture or Monday morning quarterback anyone about parenting, but I am affectionately known as “the baby whisperer” among my family, so I’ve got to be doing something right, right?)
Regina was at her wits end.  Everyone said parenting a newborn was hard.  Everyone said the lack of sleep would be difficult.
No one told her it would be like this.  She was so tired she felt like she was perpetually walking around in a fog.  She did everything she could for Henry–fed him, changed him, held him, rocked him, even tried singing lullabies to him, but nothing worked.  Nothing stopped the relentless crying.
Finally, desperately clawing for something, anything, that could help her, she’d brought her baby to Dr. Whale, sure that there had to be a physical reason for it all.
But he told her Henry was perfectly healthy (before scaring her to death by mentioning the possibility of genetic issues that she had no (legal) way of determining.)
Clutching at that last straw, she’d decided to call Sidney and have him dig into Henry’s sealed adoption records, and to get a moment of peace to do so, she’d handed her baby off to Mary Margaret.
The last thing she’d expected when she turned back around was to find her baby quiet and peacefully cooing up at the school teacher.
Regina’s heart dropped even lower.  What if it wasn’t a physical or genetic problem? What if it was…
”How did you do that?” she asked, walking over to her erstwhile nemesis.
”Do what?” Mary Margaret asked absently as she smiled and cooed down at Henry.
“Make him stop crying.” 
Mary Margaret shrugged.  “I didn’t do anything. He’s so sweet.”
Now was not the time to analyze the ins and outs of why this miracle had occurred.  Now was simply the time to enjoy it.  Regina took Henry from Mary Margaret.
And he immediately started wailing again.
 “Oh no!  No, no, NO!”
Mary Margaret fluttered her hands looking distressed. “I’m so sorry!  Did I do something?”
A cold, stinging sensation settled deep inside Regina.  It wasn’t anything Snow White did.  It was her.  All her. ”No.  No, you didn’t.  It’s me.”
“Well, that’s just nonsense,” came the no-nonsense voice of Granny Lucas as she breezed onto the scene.  “Here, hand him over.  I’ll show you a thing of two.”
While Regina’s first inclination was to stand to her full height and tell the woman she was fully capable of caring for her own son, she realized she really had nothing more to lose.  She deflated and passed Henry over to Granny.
The older woman took him, smiled down at him, and then placed him up against her chest, her hand gently but firmly holding his head to her with her other hand under his little bottom.  She began to bounce and sway, making little shushing noises.
Henry’s wails faded, and then came to a stop.
“But…how?” Regina asked.
“You don’t raise a daughter and then a granddaughter without picking up a few tricks along the way,” Granny said.  “First off, you’ve gotta relax.  You’re wound as tight as Leroy when I run out of bacon.  Babies…they can feel your tension, so you feel yourself tensing up?  Take a couple deep breaths.  Let ‘em out.  Set him in his crib where he’s safe and step away for a few seconds if you need to.  I’m telling you, it’s the key.  You relax; he’ll relax.”
“So…just breathe?  That’s your solution?” Regina asked, with a sardonic raise of the brow.
“Of course not.  That’s just step one,” Granny said.  “Next, look at how I’m holding him.  Ruby refers to it as the ‘Granny choke hold.’  Don’t look at me like that; I’m not choking your baby!  I’m just holding him tight.  Babies like to feel secure, and they like to nestle on your chest where they can hear your heart.”
“Breathe and hold securely.  Got it,” Regina said, “anything else?”
“Last step,” Granny said, “I like to affectionately call the ‘baby jig’.  Just kind of bounce and sway.  It’s soothing.  Gets tiring after a while, but then usually once you get ‘em calmed down you can generally move to a rocking chair.  You wanna try it?”
Did she?  Well, she quite literally had nothing left to lose.  Regina nodded.
“Good,” Granny said with a nod, “now take that deep breath.  That’s it.  Now let it out.  Feeling relaxed?”
Regina nodded.  Granny nodded again and handed Henry over.  He began to fuss, annoyed at being moved from his comfortable position, but remembering the steps Granny gave her, Regina carefully maneuvered him up onto her chest.
And then a miracle happened.  
Henry not only stopped crying; he actually burrowed into her, sighing contentedly.  A warm rush of maternal love washed over her, and she knew she would do anything for this little boy.
Parenting may be the hardest thing she’d ever done, but they would be okay.  They were a family.
Note: I learned how to hold babies from watching my own grandmother who liked to walk around holding babies exactly as Granny does here.  We always used to jokingly call it the “grandma choke hold”, but never fear.  Like Granny said, there is no choking involved.

I've been rewatching The Inside -- I think people who like Criminal Minds would also like The Inside and would offer some insight into why Rachel Nichols was hired to (briefly) replace AJ Cook in season 6.
(Criminal Minds season 6 was a mess with all the network interference. It sucked what Les Moonves/CBS did to Paget Brewster, AJ Cook, and Rachel Nichols.)
The Inside premiered during the same time as Criminal Minds but since it was airing on FOX -- it was canceled after only airing 7 out of 13 episodes. I honestly don't get it but FOX was known for canceling shows out of nowhere, just because.
The writer's room comprises mostly Whedon alums - Tim Minear, Jane Espenson, David Fury, and Ben Edlund, with Howard Gordon. The writing is pretty deft in combining character stories with cases of the week. It's the number one frustration I have with Criminal Minds.
The thing that Criminal Minds has over The Inside though -- is the compassion it has for the victims -- in that, the victims sometimes have more of a fighting chance of surviving or getting justice.
Also, 100% the Criminal Minds team is the more mentally healthy team than the VCU team.
The main reason why the BAU Team is a lot more better off -- despite how grueling things have become is because of the people who lead them.
The VCU Team, however, has Virgil Webster.
"Officially, we're part of the Bureau's Violent Crimes Section - in reality, we work for Web. While we have the full resources of the L.A. field office, we're semi-autonomous, by which I mean completely independent. We take the cases Web chooses, and we pursue them to his satisfaction, which may or may not be completion. He gets bored sometimes . . . Web picks people for one reason: they have something he needs." - Special Agent Paul Ryan
The Inside ostensibly has six members but the most important in terms of narrative is limited to three.
Web, Paul, and Rebecca Lock (Rachel Nichols).
And Web is the man who pulls all the strings -- unlike the BAU where they have a roundtable and a case is already chosen, Web 'encourages' the VCU to convince him about the cases they will pursue.

Web is like a more diabolical Dr Gregory House. Web only cares for a case if it interests him. If it doesn't he moves on.
It's highly implied in the show that Web is a Villain Protagonist -- that the only reason why he's not a serial killer himself is because he's decided to become someone who hunts serial killers.
There was an entire episode where the Team could have gotten out from under Web's shadow but Paul actively maneuvers a way to get Web back into the fold.
Melanie and Danny asked why he did that and Paul and Rebecca basically say:

Paul would rather suffer mental anxiety of being under Web’s thumb than let Web wander around, “loose”.
It's absolutely Buck. Wild. the VCU team accepts their boss would be a serial killer if he wasn't in the FBI hunting other psychopaths.
And, of course, there's Rebecca Lock, the lever that forms the messed up triangle that is the VCU power structure.
Web wants to mold her into his own idea of a perfect crimefighter -- Dexter but in reverse.
The premise of the Pilot, the former profiler of the VCU team was pushed too hard and took her own life, and Web immediately pounced on bringing Rebecca into the team.
Paul is the Hotch of the VCU team.
Paul attempts to be the 'good' guiding force-- the angel on Rebecca’s shoulder. Except he is also young. And self-righteous, for his own good but most of the time not wrong.
Rebecca Lock is... the JJ/Emily of the VCU team... so much so that Criminal Minds hired Rachel Nichols in season 6 to literally replace JJ. (Because of network interference).
But Rebecca Lock is not Ashley Seaver. Lock has a harder edge than Seaver. She's a survivor but she has (unaddressed) complex PTSD.
Rebecca has visible cracks in the foundation Web can see and willing to push to break.
He fully believes in the quote: “Beautiful in the broken places.”
Because to him- he would be the one to mold Rebecca. Or think he does.
Paul thinks he’s helping. But they’re both wrong.

My hope, if the show had continued on Rebecca would tell both Web and Paul to fuck off because she doesn't need nor want to be molded into their idea of a Perfect Agent.
There's also Melody Sim who does Forensic work, Danny Love who does most of the tactical stuff, and Carter, their Technical Analyst.
Unfortunately, we don’t get to know more about them.
This is a fascinating show with a fantastic writer’s room— a veritable who’s who of a Whedon show: Tim Minear, Jane Espenson, David Fury, ans Ben Edlund.
But it was on Fox and went against, of all things— Dancing with the Stars, and within 7 episodes, Fox canceled the show. The rest were aired in the UK.

I've had a bee in my bonnet for a while now over the concept of representation.
Every now and again, I hear someone complain that x person on x show is "bad rep", maybe because they're a promiscuous bisexual or a flamboyant gay or whatever, and I find myself wrinkling my nose because I don't really...agree, and quite often those characters are simply good characters, so I don't... see why this sparkling concept of Representation™ matters in this context?
And, like, don't get me wrong - representation matters. Having representation on mass media matters so much, and having good rep matters too.
But I think I've narrowed down my issue with the concept being applied so broadly.
Before I get to that, let me dig into how I feel about 'bury your gays' in mass media. Many will not agree, which is fine, but my idea of 'bury your gays' is that if your show has one lesbian and you kill her, you fucking suck. If your movie has one gay man and you kill him, you fucking suck (and so on and so forth). If your show has a bunch of lesbians and one of them dies, that isn't bury your gays.
Similarly, in my opinion, if your show is something like Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead, where characters die all the time, killing a (or even the) gay character isn't really bury your gays. It's a little iffy if you introduce a replacement gay character in the same episode you kill the current one, but generally speaking killing gay characters in a show full of death is just... it makes sense? I don't really want all gay characters to have magical plot armor for the rest of time because Bury Your Gays sucks as a trope.
Which brings us back to representation.
A few years ago, The 100 season 3 was filming, and the head writer Jason Rothenberg made a huge deal about Lexa, the lesbian Commander of the Grounder Coalition. He'd share bts shots of her actress, he'd talk about his pride in having her as representation, he'd get people to follow him on twitter to 'earn' more bts shots, outtakes, bloopers, whatever, and then he killed her off 7 episodes into a 13 episode season.
And it was shitty. It was shitty because he built this self-aggrandizing, masturbatory back-patting club around himself and then killed her off and thought it was funny. It was shitty because at that time she was the only lesbian character in the show (we had Clarke, who was bisexual, but bisexuality and lesbianism are not the same), and it was shitty because it made no sense (but that's an essay for a different post, frankly).
Lexa was representation because JRoth wanted her to be representation. He made a huge deal about her being representation and so she was.
Other shows, or books or movies or whatever else, do this too, talking about how their characters are representation in interviews or on Twitter, but often they don't. Their characters are just... their characters.
Sometimes, people write characters because they want to write that character, because the tropes and traits involved in that character are true to the character being written, not because they're Good Bisexual Representation or whatever.
I think when there isn't an explicit goal to create representation, it's rather unfair to get angry at writers for writing 'bad representation' or just sub-par representation when the goal is simply to write an authentic character, rather than a specific sexuality to be held up on a display and presented for the world to see.
Not to mention that every time I see someone say, "This character is bad rep because they're xyz trope!" I see someone else say, "Yeah... so am I... this character represented me so well..."
No group is a monolith! You will never represent an entire group in one character, not ever.
But I think the itch for me has always been, and continues to be, the idea of yelling at someone for poor representation without ever knowing if that's what they were trying to achieve.
I don't think Laenor in Fire & Blood was meant as Good Gay Representation, I think he was just right for the story, and the fact GRRM repeatedly includes queer people in his medieval fantasy as just a part of the world to me means so much more than him trying to shoehorn in a perfect example of representation. Similarly, I definitely don't think Aneela and Kendry in Killjoys were meant as Good Lesbian Representation (far from it considering they both spent many seasons as villains), they were just good characters and having those two be who hooked up instead of Aneela and Johnny (a somewhat obvious direction for the show to go, if you ask me, had the show been more traditional with its tropes) or Kendry and idk Pree for the sake of horrifying example.
Trying to write perfect representation always ends in shallow, two-dimensional characters who inevitably let someone down, and slandering people who write three-dimensional characters for those characters being imperfect is cruel and unjustified and I think that is what's been bothering me every time I see conversations about representation.
Not all characters are representation. Sometimes they're just characters.

MLP Song Tournament: Results of Round 1
Warning: Very long post. So many stats
Of the three biggest landslides, two of them were This Day Aria, with the reprise winning with 93.04% and the original winning with 95.85%.

The reprise's sweep is extra impressive considering that it went up against an actual song rather than a joke songlet.
The number one sweep, The Smile Song, won with a whopping 98.15%!!!

For context, this is a bigger sweep than Discord (Remix) [which eventually won] vs Discord's Puppet. This is bigger than Chris Pine vs Chris Pratt. This is bigger than the assassination of Julius Caesar. This is even bigger than Oscar Wilde vs Oscar de la Renta, the previous record holder for sweeps in my tournaments (and because that matchup and the Smile Song ended at around the same time, that record stood for about 10 minutes)
Now, going from the biggest sweep to the biggest opposite of a sweep: we had another tie! We Got This Together vs So Many Wonders.

This one got more votes than this blog's previous tie (Earnest vs On Wings of Moonlight)*
*If you remove my vote, the win margin for We Got This Together becomes 50.21%, which is still more than Rainbow Factory got against Anthropology and The Moon Rises.
The two next closest matches were Friendship Bound vs The Goof-Off (51.41%) and Pinkie's Singing Telegram Song vs Off to See the World (53.125%)

Speaking of the Singing Telegram, that was the only song that was originally put in the "Okay" Tier (fifth tier from the top, or second from the bottom), thus making it's defeat of Off to See the World (which was second tier from the top on a Movie song tier list) the biggest upset of the round. There were 9 upsets in total this round*
*technically Glass of Water beating Friends Are Always There For You was an upset too, but I am not counting it, as they were both in the tier "Wonderful Songs" (third from top) and it was entirely random that FaATfY was one seed above GoW. Since they really had the same ranking, I don't count it as an upset
One matchup wasn't a massive sweep, nor was it close, but it is interesting for a third reason. That being, the third option. B.B.B.F.F. vs The Heart Carol was the matchup that got the most Show results votes.

This was because it was reblogged by @todayontumblr, and as such was shown to a lot of people who don't care about MLP but do like pressing buttons.
Below is how many songs from each season entered the tournament, how many remain, and the percentage that moved on.

Of the 131 songs, 67 moved on, or just over half. Seasons 2-5 all performed better than this, while season 1, the later seasons and most other media performed worse. I would guess this is due to Season 1 being full of songlets, and the later seasons and other media being less familiar. The exception to this is the Movie, which impressively won all but one match-up (and even then it was the third closest match)

Pinkie Pie actually held on better than I expected, considering how many of her songlets got swept. As there are a lot of Pinkie Pie songs, and multiple people provide her singing voice, here is a breakdown of just her Voice Actors
Shannon Chan-Kent: 15 | 9 (60%) Andrea Libman : 10 | 1 (10%) EileMonty : 1 | 0 (0%)
As you can see, Andrea Libman as Pinkie Pie mostly did the songlets that got swept, with the only song she sang remaining being The Fresh Princess of Friendship (though she also sang The Goof-Off, which came close to winning)
As for how my taste conforms to Tumblr's, I have 36 MLP songs saved to my Music folder, and of these, 29 made it to Round 2*
*2 of these songs, At the Gala and True True Friend, were given byes, and so could not have been eliminated. Also, in 2 matchups, I had saved both songs, so the possible range was 4-34
But how about how my 11-year-old self's taste conformed? They had 5 songs saved to their IC Recorder, and of those, 3 made it to Round 2*
*This is kind of cheating, because the fact that I had saved At the Gala and Babs Seed when I was 11 is literally part of the reason they were given byes. So the possible range was 2-5.

Matt Giguere's Top 25 Game Boy & Game Boy Color Games
Ed. note: Thanks to “Giggysan” for joining on GOTG’s GB & GBC Top 25 episode. The following list are his personal top games for the system, which include none of the restrictions we used in our shared list.
25. Boxxle
24. Shadowgate Classic
23. Balloon Kid

10. The Final Fantasy Legend 
While it may be a very basic RPG (you can make whatever party you want at the beginning) this game is no pushover. There are neat, but often obtuse battle mechanics that may put off those not willing to bend to the whims of the RNG gods, but I still find that as part of this game’s charm. For an early turn-based RPG on the Game Boy, the first Final Fantasy Legend is worth a look for what it accomplished in its time.
9. Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins
While a bit of a wonky platformer, Super Mario Land 2 manages to make for a very memorable and engaging time. The larger sprites make it easier to follow the action on screen, and while Mario might feel a bit floatier than usual, it still manages to be a solid game from beginning to end.
8. Final Fantasy Adventure
While not as good or transformative as Link’s Awakening, FF Adventure gets points for trying to bring the Zelda formula to the portable screen when few were tapping into that well. Just like Awakening, there is a full adventure to be had with this one, and a surprisingly engaging story.
7. Gargoyle’s Quest
A special little early Game Boy game from Capcom that is surprisingly deep for its time. Mixing both platforming and a character who levels up, this might feel like home to fans of the Adventures of Link on the NES, but here Gargoyle feels a bit more competent with its blend of genres.
6. Mario Golf
THE sports game to grab for the Game Boy Color. Somehow, Camelot made the best feeling and most fulfilling golf game on this small portable, and it remains as one of the best sports games made today.
5. Kirby’s Dream Land 2

While the first Kirby game on Game Boy started the series, it was Kirby on the NES that gave him his personality. Dream Land 2 expands upon the NES game with animal companions that add a dual layer of mixing and matching abilities. It offers a feature-rich Kirby game right in your pocket with all the charm of the originals.
4. Donkey Kong '94

A surprise to be sure, but a welcomed one! Donkey Kong '94 is one of the most pleasant surprises on the Game Boy that, on its face, would have been a very decent port of the original arcade game from 1981. Instead, Nintendo flipped the script on the archaic moveset of Jumpman to make him feel more like modern Mario. There is also an astounding amount of content to be played here with just over 100 levels to test your puzzle-solving and platforming skills.
3. Pokemon Red/Blue

The games that started it all and spawned a billion-dollar franchise. While my love of the mainline Pocket Monsters franchise began and ended with this release, I still think back to the countless hours spent during recess with my friends grinding, trading and, most especially, battling each other to see who was the very best. Much like Link’s Awakening, Pokemon Red and Blue exemplifies how very little in terms of hardware power can produce a whole lot to play.
2. The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening

Link’s Awakening is a good example of how to get a lot out of something with so little by making a full-fledged adventure on a handheld with all the trappings of the home console versions. Few games can make the same claim that Link’s Awakening manages to pull off. Even though this game has been picked apart critically for years, it still remains fresh and a delight to play.

You probably saw this coming like a desperately needed line tetromino on a five row setup. Yes, Tetris is one of the best games ever made. Yes, it is one of the greatest pack-in titles. Yes, it is one of the perfect examples of handheld and on-the-go gaming. Kids played it. Their parents and siblings played it. Everyone, for a time, played Tetris on a Game Boy. Tetris and the Game Boy are linked to the hip, and for that it deserves the number 1 spot.

So, back...like...10-12 years ago, I put together a fanmix (do we still call them that lol) for S3 of BSG. I had plans to do similar mixes for the other seasons (one song per episode, plus an overall/summary/opening song), but never got around to it.
Anyway, I was reloading my iPod for the first time in like...four years lol...and Days Upon Our Knees (the mix in question) was one of the things I added, and I was listening to it in the car.
And I was Pleasantly Surprised to see how well it holds up??? Even without tracking down my notes/rationale, almost every song at least Makes Sense (even if there are probably better choices I could have made/could make now). A couple of them are just ::chefskiss: perfect (As Long As You’re Mine for Unfinished Business; I legit do not think I could pick a better song for that episode lol). The only ones that I’m like “...where was I going with this” were Torn and A Measure of Salvation frankly I’m not 100% sure where the writers were going with that either but maybe I’ll figure it out when I rewatch those episodes this weekend
ANYWAY.

8/a measure of salvation: His Hymn (Drew Sarich) [i try not to repeat artists on these things, and teeeeeechnically i did; since international victim was drew sarich’s band for a while. also, i’ve developed much stronger associations with a different fandom for this song (which i adore) which might be contributing to the ‘...huh?’ befuddlement i’m feeling now lol ETA: i feel like i might have considered this for collaborators if only because it does work as a gaeta song for the second half of the series, particularly post-demetrius...i think if i was doing these now, i’d replace this and try to work it into the s4 mix for that reason.]
9/hero: I Can’t Decide (Scissor Sisters) [this is kind of a weird episode, and i don’t super remember it? but i don’t remember this song not fitting...guess i’ll find out when i get here in my rewatch!]

14/taking a break from all your worries: Break Me Shake Me (Savage Garden) [so i think this would’ve worked better on a baltar/six mix rather than here, but it Does fit. and i’m not sure what would work better, unless i picked something more aligned with the Quadrangle of Why half of the episode which. no. why the hell would i do that.]
15/the woman king: Man of La Mancha (Man of La Mancha/Linda Eder cover) [so, basically, the goal here was to pick a helo song. and i think ‘impossible dream’ is a better fit for him, but i think this one fits the episode a little better and also i really love this cover. almost as much as i hate this episode lol]
16/a day in the life: I’ll Be Seeing You (Frank Sinatra) [i’m pretty sure i hesitated on this one because i also used (a different version/cover of) it on a baltar/six mix (because Come On), but also...i’m not sure i could find a better fit for this weird, weird episode. (i don’t dislike it, exactly, but it feels...out of place? tonally, i mean. and not in a Relevant Way like TMUTMD does, but i suppose i’ll get into that when i get to the back half of this season in my rewatch notes lol)]
17/dirty hands: Do You Hear the People Sing (Les Mis) [i think this is a good fit for this episode. there’s probably a better (or at least more specifically relevant) one out there, but i think i’d have to Actively Look, if that makes sense? also, apparently a not-insignificant part of the fanbase actively dislikes this episode??? which...i don’t really...get? like...do people dislike chief? i know it’s not one of bill’s shining moments but at the same time...]
18/maelstrom: Storm Front (Billy Joel) [okay this one i took way too literally lol. i could probably do better here but this one doesn’t not fit]
19/the son also rises: Razzle Dazzle (Chicago) [again. perfect. no regrets. XD]
20/crossroads 1: Comfort and Joy (Bat Boy: The Musical) [i could have taken this one more seriously, lol. but i like this song and it does work so i stand by my decision XD]

First off: the season counts are weird. Season one either has 7 or 23 eps and season 11 either has 3 or the normal count and the episodes on the fanwiki have 22-23 per season and thus there’s 17 but other sites have the weird count and thus there's 19 and…we’re going by the fanwiki. SOOOO:

Probably a bit of a boring answer but I always liked 10's suit-and-Converse fit while I was watching it and that's the outfit I can most realisitically picture myself wearing
3. Which Doctor do you think should had more seasons?
100% Nine. SOCIETY IF (RTD hadn't been awful to work with I guess)
4. Who is your favourite companion?
HMMM genuinely changes depending on which companion I'm watching at the time but probably Donna and Sarah Jane overall? Honorable mention to Amy and Rory because they're the ones I grew up with :]
5. When you could have one trip in the TARDIS where would you go?
I always like the idea of going really far back into the past (like, hundreds of thousands of years) to see how people lived back then, but if I got only one trip then I'd want to go really far into the future instead. Some kind of setting where humans and aliens made contact a long, long time ago and now they're living peacefully, idk I just think it'd be fun to see where we end up
6. Which season do you like the least?
Well. I haven't seen Seasons 10-12 in full since they aired, so I can't really pass judgement on those although I can't exactly say any of them were my faves. As for the rest, I like 1-5 most, 6 and 7 both have some really good episodes but kinda convoluted story arcs, and 8 and 9 have good story arcs but worse individual episodes on average I'd say. So probably s7 or 8 is my least favourite </3 there are parts of both of them that I enjoy though ofc
10. Which romance do you like the most?
Probably the Doctor/River? (Not super fussed about which Doctor although ofc it's 95% 11). Concept of their timelines always being the wrong way round goes hard <3
I also like the Doctor/Master LOL but idk if I can really call that a romance when it's not canon in the show
13. What scene scared you the most?
That bit in Midnight where the mysterious entity is knocking on the walls I think
17. What is your least favourite episode, and why?
Kill the Moon is obviously a bad episode (it's the pro-life moon abortion episode if you haven't seen it), but I really don't like Under the Lake & Before the Flood. Idk why exactly but it was boring when I watched it for the first time and it's boring when I watch it back now

TIER - Actually Dislike
13 - Velma
I gave it a one shot and have not seen an episode since. But I have been following it via second hand sources and I do not like the direction it is going. Especially how crammed in the Scooby Doo references get. Basically, this is the bottom of the barrel of things I’ve seen this year.

12 - Clone High
Eh, the Series didn’t really catch on with me. So I had no intention of seeing the rest of the original nor the continuation. Eh, just not for everyone.
11 - Shaggy and Scooby Get a Clue
With the Scooby/Courage episode, I really should have watched more of this series since it helped with that match. Sadly, I never got the drive to look at the rest like the others in the top tier.
10 - Kiff
I did enjoy what I saw. I enjoyed the clips I’ve seen of her and in Chibiverse. Sadly, never really saw a full episode again. Maybe one day in 2024.

9 - Smurfs
You know how I said I was interested in seeing if Grouchy had a love interest. Well I saw the episode where that scene is from and it's basically your “we want to make a guy who does not smile smile and he totally did that one time but won’t again”. Not enough to put it below the Saw One Tier but DISAPPOINTED!!!
8 - Wacky Racers
Like the one above, I technically saw more than one episode. Granted, it was part of the One Shot review but it is still a technicality. Despite that, and seeing random clips and enjoying it, just never got around to see the rest.
7 - Fionna and Cake
Again, technically I saw more than one episode. But never got to see more of it outside clips. So I know what happens and I know Gary and Marshall are a thing and I’m so happy for them, but never got around to watching the rest.
6 - Hello Kitty Super Cute Adventures
The sad part is this was on the way to being in the Saw them all tier. The problem is new episodes came out and they were two partners. Them also coming out with Kuromi Solo Animations made it hard to follow the rest. Kind of sad when you think about it.

5 - Tiny Toons Looniversity
I enjoyed the reboot and saw all the episodes on the first day. It was definitely a fun experience and I do hope it gets the same treatment or better than the Animaniacs Reboot got. Looking forward to seeing my favorite Rabbit Twins in more action.
4 - Twisted Metal
Loved the game lore and I enjoyed what the TV Show producers did to make it their own thing. It seems to touch upon every aspect of the series including the terrible ones people don’t like and made them great. Rest in Peace Granny Dread.
3 - Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur
Originally it was not supposed to be here. I thought “there’s nothing I’m going to watch this year that would trump this.” Then a show came out that I also thought would have no competition. So I quickly added it. Then another show proved there was. So sadly Moon Girl gets third place. But still, I highly recommend it. 
2 - Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead
All this because of a song. While it took me a while to watch the rest, I did and thankfully I did before the next episode comes out in December. I doubt the series will continue after that, but still, it's definitely one I am so glad I gave it a shot.
1 - My Adventures with Superman
I did not want this to be in the only saw one episode tier. This needed to be in the Seen All Tier. So I did and I am so glad I have. This is the Superman we need and I look forward to seeing what the next season brings. As long as Warner Brothers keeps its ship together.

Summary:  A series of 100-500 word drabbles to accompany my    rewatch of season 3 of Once Upon a Time.  There will be a drabble–either a deleted scene, a “fix it” fic or a character musing for each episode of the season.  Focus will be on Emma, Henry, the Charmings and Killian–with an emphasis on Captain Swan’s epic love story.

Note: There were many directions I could have gone with this Killian-centric episode, but given the recent passing of Chris Gauthier, it seemed appropriate to write a Killian-Smee centered “drabble”.
Killian looked out across the sea at the Storybrooke harbor.  He’d always found that looking at the horizon brought him peace and comfort, but none was to be had today.
How long could he keep the truth of his activities during the lost year from Emma?  How would she react, how would everyone react when they learned of the choices he’d made in order to take back his ship?
“Captain Hook!” he heard from behind him. “Captain!”
The guilt deepend as he glanced at Smee.  Always the faithful first mate, Smee was willing to follow him anywhere, follow any command.  He rather reminded him of a faithful dog, perhaps one of those new goldendoodles Swan’s lad had shown him moving pictures of on his telephone.  
Would even Smee stand beside him when he learned the full truth?  Killian hid his worries behind the mask of the stern captain.
“It’s about time, Mr. Smee.  You know how much I abhor waiting.  What is it that’s so urgent?”
“It’s just, um,” Smee stammered, “that me and the men were talking about how we haven’t seen much of you since we all ended up back here.”
Killian waited for a beat, but it soon became obvious that Smee was not inclined to elaborate without prompting. “Is there a point to that rather odd observation?”
“What’s keeping us from crewing up again, hitting the high seas, getting back to pirating?” Smee asked animatedly.
Killian’s heart plummeted again. He knew no matter how much he might have tried to go back, that life was no longer for him. “You mean, other than being attacked and turning into flying monkeys?  Have you forgotten there’s no safe passage out of this town?  You’ve already been a rodent, Mr. Smee, does life as a simian interest you as well?”
He hoped his tone of annoyance would deter Smee, but it seemed the other man was not to be put off this time. “Of course there’s safe passage!” Smee said. “We could outrun them!”
“Not with that tosser of yours,” Killian said, gesturing derisively to the broken down excuse for a boat Smee had purloined.
“If we had a fast enough ship,” Smee persisted, “The Jolly Roger for instance… You still haven’t told me whether you found her during the time none of us can remember.”
Another wave of pain washed over Killian.  Oh he’d found her alright.  He’d found her, traded a good man’s safety to take her back…and then he’d given her up again.  Aye, he’d do it all again a thousand times if it meant he could get back to Swan, but it still hurt.  She’d been his last link to Liam, to Milah.  She’d been his home and sanctuary for centuries.  He couldn’t help but feel her loss.  Keenly.
“What happened during that time isn’t important,” Killian said dismissively, praying that Smee would let it go.
It seemed the gods did not deign to smile on him this time.
“Because you remember,” he persisted. “Is our ship okay?  What…what happened to it?”
“My ship,” Killian barked.  “All you need to know, Mr. Smee, is that the Jolly Roger isn’t here, so there will be no outrunning of anything.”
“Well, I mean, what if we found another ship?” he tried, “Any one of these–”
Killian felt his exasperation multiply. “Mr. Smee, I’ve tried letting you down easy.  Now let me be more direct. I have no intention of leaving this town.”
I have no intention of leaving her.  Not ever again.
“Captain, I agree with you, this place has its bright spots,” Smee continued. “I have never tried anything quite like frozen yogurt before, but the Wicked Witch is here, and with that kind of danger, what possible reason do you have to stay?”
It was then that he spotted her.  Swan and her lad were walking toward him, clearly seeking him out.  His heart made its characteristic swoop at the sight of her.  She was so beautiful, so vibrant.  Though it had seemed impossible he could love her more, absence truly had made his heart grow fonder. Aye, he’d willingly, happily, give the Jolly away for her again and again–that and much more–to have the chance to keep her and her lad safe.
Whether or not Mr. Smee would understand his motives was an open question, and one he had no intention of exploring at the moment.  Instead, he infused his tone with every bit of command and steely determination he could muster.  Far stronger men than Smee had cowered before him when he got in their faces and employed the deadly tone he intended to use here. 
“My reasons are my own,” he growled. “Question them again at your peril.”
For the briefest moment he thought he saw a flash of pain, betrayal in his faithful first mate’s eyes, and he felt like the worst of cads.  In so many ways, Smee was a better man than he, and he deserved a better captain, a better friend.
But then Swan was there before him, and all else was forgotten.

lets mcfreaking go 1. i became a fan of the show when i was a child. i'd only ever really seen a few episodes at first when they'd happen to be on tv, but then we got netflix and i was able to engross myself in the entirety of the show and i became absolutely obsessed. 2. honestly what i love about mermaids is the fact that they can be excellent treasure-hunters. if i were a mermaid i'd be out looking for cool shells and fossils all the time. 3. part of me would maybe want to just... embrace the full moon i guess. i have kind of a witchy side as well, so maybe even worship the full moon. i feel like all they really wanted to do was go to mako, and the trouble really only started when they tried preventing that. plus, could get some cool power upgrades ! ! ! 4. LEWIS MY KING <333 and i know everyone Hates byron but honestly,,,, i love him he's a cutiepatootie surfer boy and i lov himb 5. cleooaarrr. i think i relate the most to her (can't swim, afraid of everything, divorced parents, annoying sister) 6. this is a tough one. season 1 is amazing because it's not all about a war over a boy. but season 2 has one of my favorite characters: charlotte. i think i would pick season 1 though just because i felt so much grief over how charlotte's character was treated. 7. personally i really like cleo's hydrokinesis 8. my mermaid aesthetic would 100% be kind of 2000s beachy, or like gyaru style 9. i like me a strawberry banana smoothie 10. i couldn't try mermaiding, i'm unable to swim (or even float). if i could swim though i would probably just do it in private instead of for a crowd. i don't like being around people. 11. i don't think so :(( should look into that 12. probably only 3 or 4 times, i have a lot of different things that i fixate on. i'm hoping to start making it a tradition to rewatch it every summer though :3 13. BAD MOON RISING. the scene where moonstruck rikki kisses zane in A CIRCLE OF FLAMES???? gets me every time... <3
