walking in on zoro working out, already well within his progression of push-ups. the look of concentration on his face is enough to make you stop in your tracks, eyes trailing along his glistening skin, sweat covering almost every inch. a true show of his dedication to the craft; to refining his body into the strongest version of himself all so he can lay claim to the title he’s been chasing since he could first wield a sword.

you know he knows you’re there; the man was as observant as they come. but he made no effort to acknowledge you. yet. the gears in his mind were turning, spitting out number after number to keep him on track with his goal.

but you’ve always been a stubborn little thing.

after four more efficient push-ups, your face lined up under his — albeit upside down as you lay on the ground before him, not wanting to slide under his moving body and interrupt the steady flow he had created.

“you mind?” zoro manages to grunt out, his voice more gravelly than usual.

“not at all.” a smug expression takes up your face, your lips twitching up as your nose scrunches in the way that tugs at his heart. he lets out an amused scoff. “just here to help.”

“yeah?” zoro tucked one arm behind his back as his pace never faltered. your eyes flicker to the remaining arm holding him up , bicep bulging as he showcases his strength. “how’s that?”

“i’ll grant you a kiss for every 10 you do.” a cheeky grin for a cheeky girl, he notes.

“you’re upside down.” in the back of his mind, he’s still counting, already well within the ten push-ups that will earn him a kiss. quickly, you adjust yourself now that you have an opening, sliding right under him so every time he lowers himself to the ground, his nose brushes against yours, and his heated body kisses your own.

“there.” the closeness threw you off more than it did him, squirming under him as he presses against you each time he lowers his hard body.

“well?” he tilts his head a little to the left, angling it perfectly for you. the pink of his tongue slips out and swipes along his bottom lip in anticipation. he pushes back down and you melt into him, lips colliding as he kisses you back.

it was short-lived, as his arm straightens back out and he was hovering over you — still keeping track of his push-ups. but now that you’ve had a taste…

your hand trails along his pecs and you see his abdomen ripple even more, almost concaving to your touch. he tries not to falter as your finger moves along the ridges of his chest, barely brushing over his nipple. slowly but surely your finger slides further down, close to a place that he could never be entirely disciplined with again — not after he’s been deep inside of you, the two of you unraveling to your molten cores together.

after ten more, he falls back into you and his lips crash onto yours. the heat and adrenaline fire off in his brain, his body reacting on pure instinct. the need to be with you is too great. the thought only exemplifies as you addictingly mewl into his mouth in a way that makes him only crave more.

zoro’s tongue expertly slips past your lips, swirling around with yours and only making the kiss messier. your fingers thread in his hair and use the new position to pull him in deeper, a low groan spilling from the depths of his chest and into your mouth.

fighting for his breath more than he’s ever had to during his workout, he pulls apart from you and rests his forehead against yours — eye sealed shut. he doesn’t need to open them to see the triumphant look on your face, he can sense the victory coursing throughout your body. the same body he so badly wants to indulge in.

“maybe i can help you with some cardio next?” the soft breathy sound of your voice has his eye cracking open, watching the mirth swim in the depths of your own.

“yeah.” his voice is gruff, his gaze lowering to your kiss-bitten lips. to make a point, he presses his hardened length against your core, throbbing with a need only you can satiate. “it’s the least you could do.”

Okay maybe this is a known thing and I’m just spouting nonsense or both Idek it’s half one in the morning and I was meant to be getting an early night but YOU GUYS I was just listening to my Soc audiobook and in chapter 18 when Kaz is remembering the coffee shop and the Hertzoon scam we learn that the first trade major trade Jordie and Kaz were privy to and I’m pretty sure Jordie put a little money into was A CHANGE IN THE SUGAR MARKET.

And of all the things Kaz might have been able to manipulate the market for to try and profit off Van Eck’s destruction at the start of crooked kingdom HE CHOSE SUGAR.

The failure of the Sweet Reef job doesn’t only represent, to Kaz, the foolishness at being hoodwinked by Rollins again that he describes as causing such anger within himself whilst at the Van Eck house but also LITERALLY REFLECTS AND PROBABLY SERVES AS A CLEAR CUT REMINDER OF THE HERTZOON SCAM. We know Kaz is a pretty big on poetic justice (see Fillip and the wind up dogs torture/murder, stealing from the bank that was involved in the scam, the use of Alby against Rollins, etc) and I can’t help but wonder if that’s what this was intended to be in his mind, but there’s also the possibility that this wasn’t an active decision he made and only occurred to him afterwards when he saw Rollins and had that strange “sense of doubling” and saw both situations and both failures so clearly reflected and
