TW: To put it simply, Tempo probably needs a hug & a long talk with her creator. To elaborate, Blues shares his concerns, and Tempo goes "wait, those are my concerns too" and, uh, isn’t coping very well

"It seemed like that was building for a while. …Are you alright?"

"Honestly? …I don’t know."

LORE: In the source material we do see Tempo is affected by the cave-in - she freaked out twice about possibly becoming lost or destroyed; once while sinking underwater and once in the Arctic while helping Ice Man with some research - but we didn’t really get any of the buildup to Tempo deciding to forgive Dr. LaLinde. In this AU, though, it’s… well, it’s more of a process.

This version of Tempo wants to trust Dr. LaLinde, wants to be able to get over it, but there’s some lingering doubt that make it hard for her to. And she doesn’t have very many people she can talk to about it other than Dr. LaLinde herself (which doesn’t really feel like an option to her at that time). And, knowing that the possibility of her developing PTSD or something similar was a contributing factor in the removal of her IC Chip, she’s been dealing with feeling like she can’t trust her own mother anymore and the cave-in trauma pretty much alone.

So when Blues showed up at Geoworks HQ to check on her and confessed that he was also worried about the exact same possibility, she kind-of went from being able to be like "i have this concern, but it’s based only on one past experience that she has already apologized for; I’m being unfair to feel this way" to something more like "I’m not the only one worried about this, meaning there might actually be a problem here, but I don’t know if I can talk to her about what she did to me, and I still feel bad for feeling this way because I don't feel like it’s fair to her".

…She might want to get advice from someone who isn’t the Light Family’s resident grudge-holder, though lol

(This mini character arc has at least 2 more minicomics planned for it. There will be a resolution, I promise, but it’s not for this batch of minicomics to do.)

Other Random Tidbits:

This isn’t the first time Blues kinda just showed up at the LaLinde residence, which is why Tempo was smiling in panel 3.

REALLY proud of the first & second panels! They were drawn using a couple panels from the comics as the references :)

I made a new digital pen to help with some of the Round Thing Shading. I think it looks pretty good, all things considered, but you’ll have to let me know.

The next one Tempo's involved in will not be focusing on her & the whole thing with Dr. LaLinde.

this scene is right at the end of chapter 3. if you have not read this fic i HIGHLY recommend it! im pretty sure i have recommended it before already HAHA but now i got to draw one of my favorite scenes. i dont want to spoil but it just makes me crazy fr. they're just so...!!! HNNNGHHH!! i've literally read it like 3 times. if you like protective loid + badass yor + the best, coldest serving of revenge justice, you need to read this story! her writing is absolutely amazing and im not gassing this up bc she commissioned me LMAO its genuinely just so good. if ur still reading my little rant pls go read woman in red its 7 chapters and its completed and. Hello!! I'm a huge fan of your art and I thought I would ask about your colorwork, because it's genuinely super impressive to me how all your pieces have amazing palettes and they add so so so much to the general atmosphere. Do you have any process to pick colors for pieces? Like using picture references, gradient maps, etc or do you genuinely just eyeball them? I'm super curious :]

Thanks! I very much use references, though I don't use the color picker on them, gotta train the eye. I have an ever-expanding reference folder of photos and paintings with colors that I like so that when I start a new painting and I have an idea of the color scheme I want in mind, I'll already have some reference on hand. Good reference really makes a world of difference!

I also like to bias colors a little bit away from their standard versions:

The more blue green and the more yellow green are both more interesting to me than the "just green" green. Nothing wrong with that average green though, sometimes that's exactly what you need. It's always situational.

Lastly, a fantastic color tip for digital art specifically that I got from Mike Hernandez: Use the RGB sliders instead of the HSB color selection!

By default, Photoshop gives you the HSB (Hue, Saturation, Brightness) color picking setup which looks like this:

It's perfectly functional and has its uses, but it doesn't really feel like mixing color. On the other hand, if you use the RGB sliders:

Now you can add a little more blue if you think that's what the color needs, or you can take away red, add some green, etc. It gets you actually mixing color and thinking more about how the colors relate to each other. It can take some getting used to if you've only used the HSB setup before, but it's worth it!

Hi guys, this is actually a comic I drew and basically finished 11 months ago. And it’s been just about then since I’ve last really opened my iPad and did any drawing. There’s a ton of half-completed works on there and they’re pretty cute, so I’ll try to post them as I get the motivation. My therapist says posting to this blog will probably improve my mental health and he’s right but >:3c

❗️Important announcement❗️

Hello everyone! 😁 January is finally here, and this is very exciting news for me because I'm going to New Zealand!!! 🤩✈️ It's a huge trip that I've been planning for a whole year now. It will be the first time I ever take the plane. The first time I visit another country in years. The first time I travel so far away from home! And what's more, this will be the longest trip in my life. Over a month. I can hardly wrap my head around it still! 🤯🗓

I've also had some time to reflect, and... I've decided to use this opportunity to step back and go offline for a bit. 🌱 I wanted to tell you about this sooner, and I apologize for how sudden this probably is for most of you. I promise that I'm alright and doing this with a peaceful mindset! Although- I'm a bit sad at the thought that we won't see or hear from each other for a while. 🥺 It's a bittersweet feeling, but at the same time, I'm sure the temporary change of pace will be a good thing. Lately I've been feeling the need to take a break from social media again, and the timing is perfect. I'm ready. 🤲💫

To my lovely friends and followers here: I hope you will all have a great time these next few weeks. I hope the beginning of 2024 will treat you well and that you will get to experience new and exciting things.
