scent of the day: thé matcha 26 (le labo)

last time i sampled a matcha fragrance it left me wishing for more astringency and more androgyny. thé matcha 26 by le labo has both in spades. what it doesn't have, regrettably, is a lot of matcha. the citrus and the bitter-herbal vetiver create an impression that reminds me of slightly oversteeped green tea with lemon peel, but i don't get the grounded earthiness that is particular to matcha. though fleeting, i think replica's matcha meditation did a better job in conveying its matcha notes. i also don't get a lot of the sweetness from the fig; to me this is downright green and woody and masculine-leaning. i like the cedar base, though: it's warm and comfortingly solid, a soft heart underneath a sharp exterior.

a reviewer on fragrantica pointed out that this smells like iso e super, and that's exactly it: that sour, almost brutalist note is just like my sample of enigma by alkemia, which is straight up iso e super and was never quite my thing. somehow reminds me a little of old electronics, which is nearly a weird enough scent association to make me enjoy it, but at the end of the day i'd still rather wear something else myself, unless i'm in a rather ascetic and/or masculine mood.

look at this dent ive made already in my tea tonique i got for christmas i think ive been wearing it nearly every other day! its soooooooo me if i were a fragrance..i would probably be you mr tea tonique. its so airy and green but it has that dense biting tannin-y quality that a lot of tea fragrances tend to have idk if you know what i mean ..but its not too much either. its not so clean and bright stark white as other tea perfumes i have tried itsa tiny bit musky and spiced while retaining the sort of wearably clean linen spalaundry-esqueness. i think between this and le labo thé matcha those are my most used everyday reaches with my biggest dents easily.

Tè verde dalla storia millenaria, tra i più pregiati ed esclusivi impiegati nella cerimonia Chadō. La degustazione è un rito che assume aspetti spirituali, un’arte basata sui principi filosofici zen di armonia, rispetto, sobrietà, tranquillità. Affine a queste regole, il profumo è celebrazione di un momento tutto tuo, rituale di dedica introspettiva, lontano da clamori e distrazioni. È fastoso l’accordo tè matcha sospeso nella soffice grazia del fico, una sensazione di lusinga densa e soave innalzata dalla sottile incisione di arancia amara e vaporoso vetiver. Una quiete che mi appartiene, eternizzata nella spirale boisé del cedro. Amata famiglia, casa, solitudine e l’odore del tempo con voi mai perduto.

The recipe for traditional matcha:

Heat water to 70° (80° maximum so as not to burn the tea).

Pour two spatulas (or a level teaspoon) of matcha into the bowl.

Add about 7 cl (or four tablespoons) of hot water.

Whisk the matcha and water in a “W” shape until light and fluffy on top.

Enjoy your matcha.

Hier matin, j'ai assisté à un cours de mathématiques. J'ai pris mon thé Matcha avec de la gelée d'herbes au Gong Cha Tea pour le déjeuner après le cours. Pour finir mes devoirs et lire des livres, je suis allée à la bibliothèque. J'ai assisté à mon cours d'anglais à midi, puis à mon cours de chimie organique, qui était mon dernier cours, mais il y a eu un incendie dans le bâtiment et le cours a été annulé. Je suis retourné au dortoir pour enfin achever le puzzle sur qu'il me restait à faire depuis trois jours, après avoir dîné et fait les parties restantes de mes devoirs.
