Hi everyone. I have had myself one hell of a December and am going to be in the red when January hits. Between first catching covid and then busting my motorcycle on some black ice, I've had to pay out for parts and repairs while also missing entirely too much work. I will have less hours in the next two weeks thanks to the holidays, and my job will be slashing overtime, so I will not be where I need to be by the new year.

I need to make rent for January at the very least. I can push other stuff around and probably make it work but rent is the most important thing. I will have 1 more paycheck between now and then, but I'm sure it won't be enough. I am asking for help to raise $325 - this is one half of what I will need. I know it's been an incredibly tough year for everyone and I am sorry to be in this position. There is absolutely no pressure to donate - I am grateful for just a reblog. I suggest this to people individually regularly enough that I need to make a post about it:

If you need a job, and you hate the "finding things to apply for" part of job searching, and you feel like you've hit a dead end, do yourself a favor and look into temp agencies. Some are industry-specific, some are function-specific, and some are these-companies-need-warm-bodies-specific, but in general, they're pretty similar functionally.

There's two ways (usually) that a temp agency can get you work. One is traditional temping, where you're an employee of the temp agency and work fixed term assignments at various companies and move around from assignment to assignment. The other is temp-to-hire, where you start out like the first way, but at the end of the fixed term, the company you're doing work for decides whether or not they want to hire you. (There can also be direct hire postings, where the company just...hires you right away, facilitated by the temp agency, but that's less common than the first two.)

And the most important part here is that YOU ARE NOT THE ONE PAYING THE TEMP AGENCY FOR SERVICES. The companies looking for workers are the ones paying the temp agencies, NOT THE WORKERS. If you find a temp agency trying to charge you for finding you placements, THAT IS A SCAM AND YOU SHOULD RUN AWAY SCREAMING.

Point is: Job searching sucks. Temp agencies can make it suck less.
