Solid video on how language impacts perception. Despite his initial lawyer declaring there was no evidence of Mangione being involved in the shooting, another report where L.M. claimed police planted evidence, a lot of people are cosigning the police narrative by associating him with the act.

Instead of referring to the actor in question as the "UHC Shooter", "The [Claims] Adjuster" or the legal disclaimer of "alleged," TikTok's user base is working overtime to make Mangione inseparable from the 12/4 shooting. Very few people on the app are casting doubt on the police and the media.

And that's not a good thing, halfway through the month since this began. Because, in a lot of ways, it's saying Copaganda is still incredibly effective against the general public. And the police WANT folks to believe Mangione did it. They don't want people questioning the surveillance state or

the deluge of news specials associating him with the CEO guy's death or mocking the influencers following the story online. It's possible to advocate for Mangione's freedom and wrongful charges without also saying, "Yes, he did it," like the police want you to.

They're already making a crime doc about 12/4 explicitly to make Mangione inseparable from the shooting. That should worry you a lot. Maybe more so than the fact that folk don't think the shooter could've evaded the cops.

It’s rare to feel happy in northern Gaza. But the other day, my sister Soso made me smile.

It’s not a lie that sugar is expensive. 1kg is $80. Frying oil is $70. That donut was expensive to make, even without the sugar. But it’s okay. Even if it means the adults can’t eat, it’s okay. Soso was happy for a few hours. She’s only 4 years old yet her life is already so hard. She’s not growing properly due to malnutrition and trauma. Her mental health is in shambles, not at all how a child should be. Since birth, two wars have come very close to killing her, so we just want her to be happy.

Please help me make her happy every day. A few days ago, she was the happiest child in the world because she ate an apple for the first time in a year. That won’t happen again because fruits are too expensive, but I swear, she explodes with joy when we buy vegetables too. She is a child with simple dreams.

ok last thing. but what people fundamentally need to get through their heads is the significance of gaza fundraisers not being the same as like mutual aid when you're helping someone get groceries, because it is a genocide. there is insane deliberate scarcity and prices are unmanageable, because there is nowhere nearly enough for everyone, so only people who can pay can eat. and what positioning individual fundraisers as the only course of action does is quite simply give a tiny percentage of random people whose fundraisers take off the ability to pay those prices while thousands of others can't. and every one of those thousands of people without a fundraiser is suffering through the same inconceivably horrific reality. it is giving a few completely desperate people out of hundreds of thousands a slightly more favorable position in a horrific war economy of imposed scarcity. and what grassroots community kitchens do is try to mitigate in some small way that inconceivable hierarchy of who can pay and who can't, by stretching ingredients as far as they can last to cook meals at large scale and give them out at no cost. and obviously people are still going to send money to their friends and families because this is hell what else are we supposed to do but please just think about that before promoting endless individual fundraisers as somehow the most ethical way to help
