I don't know if anyone's mentioned this yet but... Jace, while still alive, is probably going to jail, which leaves Aguefort without a Sorcery teacher for next September.

Do you know who: 1. just came to town, 2. is staying for at least a year, 3. seemingly has innate spellcasting, and 4. has actual experience taking care of and stewarding teenagers?

Picture it: First day of Senior Year, Gorgug Thistlespring walks through the halls, a rockstar drummer, pioneer of the Barbificer multiclass, and four time savior of the world. He's feeling great, this is gonna be a good year. Then he turns a corner and sees him.

There he is, in all of his High Elven glory, trying desperately to wrap his head around to whom his new students are referring to when mentioning this "chat" person. Professor Telemaine Lomenelda, Aguefort’s newest Sorcery teacher.

I just realized that Gilear is the only competent parent in that household. Aside from Cathilda, who for sure raised Fabian more than his own mother did. But in terms of "default" parental figures, Gilear is the only one who is going to fully show up and be ready.

Telemaine has an entire world to learn about; you put that baby in granpapa's arms and tell him you just need an hour, you're getting a call from the cops telling you they found your baby with a strange man buying lotto tickets at a 7/11.

Hallariel is in no shape or form fit to raise another child. And I can see a world where we get some long overdue development in her character and relationship with Fabian, where she comes to understand what a shit mother she's been, but she's gonna fumble the bag a lot until then.

And you know Cathilda is gonna be doing a lot of the pushing in that department. It'll worry her to let go of the reigns on such a young child, but the satisfaction at seeing Hallariel's face when she goes to pawn off the baby and Cathilda refuses will be more than enough to reassure her that this has to happen.

So that just leaves... Gilear. A fully capable parent who already raised one kid, and who is still a prominent figure in that child's life. It's Gilear in the midst of caring for a newborn whilst Telemaine has Alston declaring his own nemesis, Hallariel panics on the sudden lack of Cathilda, and Fabian furthers his elaborate scheme to kill this baby as he stubbornly fights the slow creepings of affection.

telemaine mispronouncing things is a very funny bit but like it NEEDED gorgug as a straight man. it was funny on its own but it got iconic with gorgug just like frustratedly trying to figure out the logistics behind what telemaine could and couldn’t pronounce

1) aguefort teachers are, statistically, very likely to be evil

2) gorgug's considering becoming a teacher at aguefort down the line

telemaine and aguefort around for his senior year, what should just be a chill victory lap, might be gorgug's villain origin story

Telemaine "Teenagers shouldn't have to do stuff" Lomenelda should come for a visit! One, because he'd be absolutely horrified by all the things the Bad Kids have to do this year and, two, because he'd be a great NPC for them to have around.

Fabian could have a parental figure in at home so he's not so lonely. He could bring tea on the Elven royal family for Kristen. He'd know the inheritance laws in Fallinel that might help Adaine and Aelwen. Ayda could have left him something thousands of years ago that he brings for Fig. Telemaine also makes magical swords and other weapons, he might have some tips for Gorgug. And for Riz, maybe Telemaine has some wisdom about keeping and losing friends and the benefits of crying when you're sad and not bottling things up.

I'm just waiting for Telemaine to wind up serving the next bbeg on accident. Man knows fuck all about the outside world, and you put him in Elmville? He's gonna invest in crypto and go into the deepest debt that no one will know about until Seacaster Manor has loan sharks pounding on the door.

Now that there are some job openings at the adventuring Acadamy, here are the existing NPC's I think are going to fill those roles. New characters could be made but we all know that's not how it works.

Barbarian Teacher: Lydia Barkrock! This one honestly makes the most sense to me. Aguefort has worked with her before and she maintained a constant rage for years so she has the credentials. Plus being a student's parent almost guarantees you a position at this school, like a reverse nepotism thing.

Sorcerer Teacher: Telemaine. He doesn't seem to have a class yet so that can be retconned, but honestly, this one is really for the sake of the bit. And, if you'll indulge me, the weirdest old man yaoi with arthur aguefort.

A New Guidence Counselor: Kinda following up on my last post about there needing to be another guidance counselor at AAA, there should be at least one other guidance counselor at the school besides Jawbone. I wouldn't bring this up again unless I had a worthy candidate.

Bonus: Janitor or something: Balthazar gets a job at the academy because I guess they just let anybody in there.
