I managed to archive many reposts from Natalie / Samantha Rupnow’s TikTok account (targetedbloodsport) before it was taken down at the end of December, and I finally brought myself to write a little summary of things about her that I found there.

Ideologically: anti-liberal, right-wing, white supremacist, pro-Trump, anti-refugees and similar stuff. I didn’t see anything that would indicate her being a radical feminist, or even feminist at all. As an additional info, her Duolingo account shows that she was learning German and Russian.

Despite his human nature, Sanzo is more than able to survive such apocalypse, he also has hunting skills:

Goku might have some difficulties but overall he would manage to make it through. If he becomes Seiten Taisei zombies shall pray to survive.

Sorry Gojyo, good fighting skills but he has also a very delicate stomach and seems to prefer a refined lifestyle. With the help of others he can manage to survive.

And now a moment of nerding XD (sorry for long post)

Since I love to analyse things from small details and in this particular case I love to speculate where Sanzo Ikkou is, I've noticed two elements that might give me info about the location. A good indicator is given by Hakkai when he mentions the caterpillar fungus (Ophiocordyceps sinensis). While trying to restrict the areal distribution of this fungus I found this article A survey of the geographic distribution of Ophiocordyceps sinensis by Yi Li , Xiao-Liang Wang, Lei Jiao, Yi Jiang, Hui Li, Si-Ping Jiang, Ngarong Lhosumtseiring, Shen-Zhan Fu, Cai-Hong Dong, Yu Zhan, Yi-Jian Yao. As the title says this study tries to identify the geographic distribution of this fungus used in Tradition Chinese medicine, and I found this map:

Like the abstract states the fungus can be found in the Tibetan Plateau and its surrounding regions, including Tibet, Gansu, Qinghai, Sichuan, and Yunnan provinces in China and in certain areas of the southern flank of the Himalayas, in the countries of Bhutan, India and Nepal and it is mainly found in the meadows above 3,500 metres.

Another key element that makes me think they might be between Tibetan Plateau and Bhutan is the lagomorph Sanzo is holding by the ears. The possible candidates are: Indian hare (Lepus nigricollis), Woolly hare (Lepus oiostolus) and Hispid hare (Caprolagus hispidus). I immediately rule out the hispid hare because its ears are very short and do not project beyond the fur. The Indian hare is not present in the Tibetan Plateau despite being present in southern part of Bhutan:

So the most likely candidate is the woolly hare whose distribution is:

As for the even-toed ungulate we can see, it's a bit difficult a possible identification. The animal might be a member of Cervidae family, maybe an Indian muntjac (Muntiacus muntjak) but yeah without a full picture of the head and antlers it's just a speculation.

Sooooo all of this just to say they are most likely between Tibet and Bhutan XD. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. In future I want to talk more about the caterpillar fungus mentioned in these pages. There's a lot to say about this fella.

#217 Estado Eléctrico (2025)

En los 1990, una guerra entre humanos y robots sumió al mundo en el caos. Gracias a la empresa Sentre que permitió a los humanos transferir sus mentes a drones, los humanos ganaron la guerra relegando a los rotos a una zona 0 donde son desechados y olvidados. Pero lo que sirvió como salida para los humanos ahora se ha convertido en su cárcel.

Tal y como ocurre en la película Wall-e los humanos prefieren la vida virtual a la vida real, por lo que conviven en casas prácticamente indigentes y en condiciones desastrosas mientras su vida virtual es completa.

Actualmente, Michelle (Millie Bobby Brown) vive con Ted (Jason Alexandre) que es su padre adoptivo y abusivo, desde que en un accidente de tráfico perdió a sus padres y a su hermano Christopher. Desde el accidente ha vivido en hogares de acogida hasta llegar a casa de Ted, que no le dedica ninguna atención y se preocupa solo por el ingreso del cheque mensual, además Michelle tiene problemas adaptativos tanto en la escuela como en la era en la que se encuentra, rechazando la tecnología y el uso de drones.

Un día, Cosmo, un robot consciente, busca a Michelle. Cosmo solo puede comunicarse mediante gestos y un conjunto limitado de palabras pregrabadas, pero logra convencer a Michelle de que está controlado por su difunto hermano menor, Christopher, quien fue un niño prodigio. Ella y Cosmo emprenden un viaje a través de un paisaje distópico para encontrarlo.

En el camino, se encuentran con Keats (Chris Pratt), un curtido veterano, y Herman, un robot consciente donde ambos trabajan juntos como hermanos. Keats y Herman se ven obligados a acompañar a Cosmos y Michelle en la búsqueda de la verdad.

Dentro de la zona de exclusión donde se encuentran los antiguos robots abandonados encuentran en unos grandes almacenes un grupo de robots liderados por el señor Cacahuete, allí el doctor (Ke Huy Quan) que le indicó a Michelle que toda su familia había fallecido le cuenta que después del accidente encontró a Christopher en estado vegetativo y le ayudo mediante la tecnología para poner su consciencia a favor de la empresa Sentre, dirigida por Skate (Stanley Tucci), un hombre sin moral que usa a humanos y robots a su antojo.

Y así decidió hacer con la inteligencia de Christopher, usarla a su favor para aumentar las interacciones y flujos de datos de sus programas para la virtualización de humanos. Sin embargo, después de que Christopher saliera inesperadamente del coma unos trece meses después, un arrepentido doctor construyó una vía para que su mente escapara.

La policía virtual mata al doctor y amenaza a los robots con destruirlos si no entregan a Cosmos. Decidida a rescatar a su hermano, Michelle se infiltra en el cuartel general de Sentre con la ayuda de Keats y Herman mientras los demás robots libran una guerra contra el ejército de drones de Skate.

Michelle descubre a Christopher en estado de coma, con la conciencia atrapada en el sistema Neurocaster. En una reunión en el mundo virtual, Christopher expresa su deseo de liberarse de su existencia explotada. Respetando sus deseos, Michelle lo desconecta, lo que resulta en la muerte de su cuerpo físico. Durante la batalla, Keats casi pierde a Herman cuando su gran forma robótica es destruida por un dron. Sin embargo, una versión en miniatura de Herman emerge de los escombros.

Tras el incidente, Skate es arrestado y el mundo comienza a reconstruirse tras la devastación causada por la guerra y la avaricia corporativa. Michelle transmite al mundo exponiendo cómo la tecnología Neurocaster ha afectado la vida de las personas e invitando a quienes deseen vivir en paz a la zona de exclusión.

El cuerpo de Cosmo es arrojado a un depósito de chatarra, pero se lo ve levantándose, lo que sugiere que una parte de la conciencia de Christopher aún puede residir dentro del robot.

stories i om-nom-nom'd :: february 2025 (weeks 3 & 4)

Got sick like three times back to back to back (along with sharko week) throughout the latter half of the month, so I'm putting weeks 3 and 4 together.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬: 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐞 – 3.5/5

Feels a bit topical watching these movies in these trying times, I gotta be honest. But also watching them again when I got older had me appreciate that much as part of the allure to the target audience was the love triangle, the focus wasn't actually on that. There was a build of the tension and the occasional reminder that there is a tension there for sure, but there was also an appreciated effort to show Peeta's character and how he didn't bitch and whine about Katniss having Gale in her life.

Also that twist reveal at the end that Plutarch was actually an inside man working for District 13 was a fun stroke of genius. I quite liked how that was handled. No heavy-handed foreshadowing seen here.

It feels even more eerie watching this compared to the 2nd movie. It almost feels like a mirror of times to come, and I for one am lowkey scared of what we're about to witness in our lifetimes. The concept of hijacking in this universe is absolutely terrifying and also intriguing enough that my writer brain's going brrrr and wants to try and put a twist on that in a story one day.

And also Katniss' self-awareness that she was stringing along two boys was a bit unnerving, especially when she said "Did I lose them both tonight?" Like I get that they were going for distraught and that the vibe was supposed to be "The love of her life might have just died trying to save the love of her life", but I can't turn my brain off for long enough so that I wouldn't go "But wait hold on why does she have two loves of her life?"

There's honestly so much about the story in this movie in particular that has my writer brain getting overcome with zoomies. And also this is one of those movies that has me feeling a special kind of sad nostalgia because it's the end of a years-long movie series so a bunch of characters that I've started to feel for sadly leave the screen (I'm still depressed over Finnick's death all these years later, he deserved to live his life with his wife and kiddo).

Do I think that Ke Huy Quan deserves to be an action movie lead with a bit more meat to the story? Yes. Did I still enjoy this movie and would I watch it again? Yes and yes. And also on a similar note, more comedy roles for Lio Tipton please, they deserve it.

Read this this month as a buddy read with one of my besties and when I tell y'all this book had me hollering with its comedy. I would recommend this to anyone that likes a romcom with fated mates and a dirty talking golden retriever of an MMC. Ohh, and also Alexis. We all need an Alexis in our lives. And Alexis deserves to be turned human and have the sexy merman of her dreams, thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐟 & 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬

Chapter 2 Part 1, William Kang's Oh Pizza! Fred seems determined to still worm his way into getting under the skin of the team, so at this point this is no longer a business thing for him, he's going against Ethan's orders for the sake of having fun. I despise having to say it but Ethan was right, this one's a bigger problem than his bratty ass will ever be.

William's interview with Grace is about as disastrous as he could ever have it go, with her creating the most flowery praises for him regardless of what he actually says. And also she accidentally calls Greg "sweetheart" when he was looking for Claire and called out "honey", which sent her scurrying off to a corner somewhere. And honestly I wanted to find a corner to crawl into after that secondhand embarrassment.

William's also developed a bit of an attachment to the team, which I suspect is in part because our character's immune to his blessing/curse. But seeing that Claire was also shaken up with what Fred told her, he tries to offer some encouraging words for her to keep on the team's mission to help one restaurant at a time.

Of course at the end of this set of quests, Fred's visibly annoyed that he didn't crush Claire's morale but he's attributing it to having William help us, so I guess we'll have to face off with him in the next restaurant.

Chapter 2 Part 2, Auntie Pam's Sweet Tooth This is gonna be fun…Sweet Tooth is a former biker bar that Auntie Pam purchased and intends to turn into a bakery. Ethan initially decides against buying the property because it "looks too bad", but changes his mind in 0.5 seconds when Ashley goes "actually this place seems pretty cool". I swear if Ethan's got a schoolboy crush on Ashley after she saved his life a few episodes back, the telenovela is telenovela-ing.

I don't really have a lot of plans going into March, but there are some movies I'm looking forward to seeing (hopefully one of them in the cinema) like Mickey17, F Marry Kill, and (maybe) Snow White. And then books-wise, I just wanna get through like…idk 4? Maybe 5? We'll see if I can manage more, I have some work stuff mid-March that might eat up a good chunk of my time whew--
