What does it say about me if, when watching any series with a gay couple I lose my ever loving shit about them?
Raymond Holt and Kevin Cozner
Ballister and Ambrosius
Runaan and Ethari
Janai and Amaya
Annika and Neha (the Duren Queens)
Aziraphale and Crowley
There was a DND one shot I was playing with a NPC lesbian couple and by the end of it I was their best man??

Okay, so @starryarose and @celestialowlryx pointed out that Aanya might give refuge to the citizens of Katolis, and I've been thinking the same, because it would be the perfect way to mirror Harrow and Sarai helping Aanya's mothers/the kingdom of Duren with the famine back then! History repeated, but in a good way (pssh: it can be a narrative of love).❤️🩵

I'm of the belief that it's like when Viren told Aanya about her parents - a fully detailed and completely true PART of the story.
With Viren, the part with Annika and Neha was the beginning, the story that he told Aaravos about Avizandum's death was the middle, and current events are the end.
For Aaravos, his and Zubeia's narratives are the middle, current events are the end, and we're waiting for the true beginning - the events that led to the trial.
random dragon prince post but the posts saying that Aaravos made up the whole story about Leola is really aggravating to me - not just from a character standpoint, but a cinematic and writing technique standpoint too.
First - from a cinematic standpoint, shows generally do not show detailed flashbacks to support a story if a character is lying. There might be certain pieces missing that another character would fill in later, but the entire story is not a lie. There would not be another cinematic scene to support it.
Second - the writers would not take most of an episode to explain this story if it were a complete lie. It would be a total waste of production time and run time just to throw it away later on. They could spend that time developing another plot line or character arc but they chose to dedicate it to Aaravos. They chose to dedicate it to the context behind his actions.
Third - this episode is meant to explain much of Aaravos’s motivations. This is something that the previous seasons have all built up to, and it makes complete sense to place it at the end of the sixth season “stars” before the seventh season “dark”. This sets up a huge chunk of the premise of the next season and the final conflict. It also is cohesive and coherent with the theme of the show as it talks about cycles of trauma and violence and how institutional violence is extremely harmful and causes so many of these cycles.
There is just no reason, on a writing craftsmanship level, for Aaravos to be flat-out lying.

Honestly, centering the complex emotions of parenthood, and how parents can make mistakes that impact their children, within a larger fantasy narrative.....it's just so smart for an animated show primarily marketed at like 7-14 yr olds. The Dragon Prince handles the parent characters with compassion, showing their multi-faceted motivations and emotions behind their actions, both "good" & "bad"; they are flawed, but they truly believe they're doing right by their kids. But it also doesn't under-sell the lasting emotional and situational impact that these parents' actions have on their young kids. It's a good show for kids to watch with their parents, I think. Cuz it can be a very introspective show for parents & an empowering one for kids.
I cannot stop thinking about how tdp is and always has been, at its core, a show about parents and children….children breaking the cycle of their parents mistakes, parents facing those mistakes, parents and children going to the extremes for eachother, parents and children losing eachother…..
Arc 1 starts with the main trio making the decision to fix their parents mistakes (Callum and Ezran returning the egg to atone for their dad killing Avizandum, Rayla returning it because her parents ‘ran’) and arc 2 is so deeply about parent and child relationships (specifically fathers and daughters with Runaan and Rayla, Viren and Claudia, and Aaravos and Leola)

Can The Dragon Prince please stop killing off the parents and having them be majorly absent for most of the main cast’s lives for a whole series?

yeah like i get the "bury your gays" perspective on tdp (the first 3 seasons anyway, cuz janaya an all that,) but i don't really think it's deserved? they technically had no obligation to show such beautiful moments between these queer marriages. they didn't have to show passionate kisses, or love-stricken sentiments, they did and ugh it makes me so happy.
