Ino, are you sure you want to be getting close to Karin and Tayuya? Both of them are criminals. Hell, Tayuya was part of the assassination on the third Hokage.
"I'm well aware of girlfriends' pasts, but you have to trust me when I say they've both turned over new leaves, both are currently helping the village. I've given them a second chance and don't regret it in the slightest, I wish others would do the same."

Masashi Kishimoto will draw an original short manga following the winner of the poll, Minato Namikaze (Fourth Hokage).
'Narutop 99' top 22 character popularity poll results commemorative illustration by Masashi Kishimoto
Thank you for the incredible amount of votes! It was fun seeing how results varied from region to region. I was shocked to see Minato at the top for all regions, and the fact that Sakura is so beloved by many people around the world made me proud as a writer. To tell you the truth, I was actually rooting for Kurama. I was planning on drawing only the top 20 characters, but I really wanted to add Kurama, who was close at 22nd... So I ended up including him and Guy, who was in 21st place! Sorry for completely ignoring the original plan to have the top 20 characters for the 20th anniversary because of my personal attachment. Right now I'm working on the short manga for Minato who placed 1st. While trying to make a story that would match the expectations of his fans, I ended up with more pages than I had originally anticipated. Please look forward to the secret story behind Minato's jutsu! I want to thank you all very much again for voting!

Goddamn Kishimoto is sexist, like I didn't realize how bad until rewatching with friends
Reviewing the girls of Naruto
Sakura and Ino are both useless and boy crazy. After her dramatic haircut, Sakura immediately reverts back to exactly how she was, like legit same or following chapter, and basically stays that way or displays growth then reverts for the rest of the series. Sasuke attacks and hates her and she still marries him. Ino marries the guy who looks just like Sasuke even tho I dont think she and Sasuke ever canonically spoke. Props to Sakura for at least being a rare female close range fighter. Her fight against Sasori alongside Chiyo was a high point for Naruto women
Anko was cool but underused. How is Orochimaru's apprentice so irrelevant to the plot??? Even her filler sucked
Kin Tsuchi loses and then dies. The anime extends her fight so she's less pathetic.
Temari is aight but another long range fighter. Same with TenTen.
My gf called Sakura and Ino tying in the preliminary, because if one of them won it would mean they were the strong one, and Kishi can't have strong women.
Kurenai is useless. She's a stealth assassin relying on genjutsu, so basically picked the worst class in the entire anime. Honestly fuck Hinata too, yea she's a close range fighter for a change, which I like in my naruto women, but simping for Naruro all show isn't a good look. Her little sister seems cool tho, hopefully she isn't trying to marry anyone or w/e in Boruto
Tsunade is punch-y but scared of blood (lotta cisgirl doctors scared of blood mhmm). She's probably the best the show gets tho. Shizune is a long range doc.
Tayuya legit gets men to fight for her and fights at long-range w/genjutsu.
Karin is obsessed with Sasuke, is weak, and is a healing juice box. She sucks
The Mizukage is obsessed with marriage, because god forbid she's 30 and not married
I remember Pakura being cool. Don't ruin her for me if she's not or she's filler, because girls can actually do things in filler
Konan doesn't do anything but support the men in her life and Obito hax his way through their fight. Still probably the second or third best girl behind Tsunade
Kaguya doesn't have a character and doesn't count, let's be honest
I don't remember much about Samui, except that she wasn't as bad as all the other girls. Maybe close range? I do recall her losing and needing to be saved by Darui tho
Actually I have no problems with Chiyo at all. Rare Kishi W for making a badass woman, and a grandma at that, with basically no downsides. Legit, she's the best naruto girl and an overall underrated character. I stan a Chiyo bae
#naruto shippuden#naruto#sakura haruno#tsunade#i wish naruto was just about fu#she was the best#tayuya#ino yamanaka#there are other women but theyre all either backstory and dead or#or filler#or as importsnt to the plot as otomatsu#otomatsu#yea hes a real character

Tayuya was right and deep down Temari knew that. Back then she had gotten lucky with her as her opponent. Something she would never admit to anyone, not even herself. The few seconds Temari spent looking for Tayuya felt like hours. She dodged my three-star attack? The sand nin ground her teeth once more. Tayuya was a good opponent. Even better than before. But Temari was sure that, no matter how hard she had trained in the last five years, a back injury and being in prison would definitely slow down her training. Which meant that Temari must be as strong as her, maybe even stronger? She didn't get another moment. The redhead came from above. Thinking that Tayuya was trying to hit her Temari blocked with her fan. But it became obvious to her that Tayuya was trying to hit her fan. Clever girl. Without her fan Temari would be at least thirty percent weaker. And to say Tayuya knew that would be an understatement. She probably counted on it.
As the redhead swung her blade, a screeching sound reached Temaris ears. It sounded like everything she hated: nails on chalk, fighting cats, giant crickets! But despite the relentless ringing in her ears she only tried focusing on Tayuya. Her eyes. So she would have something visually to focus on. I can't count on my ears anymore. Temari resisted every cell in her body that wanted to crouch down and cover her ears. As Tayuyas spear-like weapon rushed between the segments of her fan, Temari reacted quickly, closing the fan in one movement and clenching her hands around it, in an effort to trap Tayuyas weapon in hers. From the warm feeling sneaking down the sides of her neck Temari deduced that her ears were bleeding. A high pitched note now only rang through her head. For a second the two were just standing there. She barely changed in the last five years, at least from the first glance. Still focused on the others eyes Temari slowly started rotating her fan. For her preferred fighting style Tayuya was way too close. Better get some distance. Looking into her eyes made Temari feel uneasy, her heart beat faster. Another Illusion? Listening Tayuya threaten her friends life made her grip her fan even tighter, giving Tayuya almost no chance of removing her spear. "At least this time you'll get beaten by a jonin!" she said with a snarl, biting the insides of her cheeks as a distraction from the pain her head and ears were in. As her next move she wanted to throw Tayuya back into the trees. But why was she hesitating? Shaking her head and squinting her eyes for a second, Temari gathered consciousness. New plan "You've made a mistake. You told me about your weak spot. Your back." and with that she lifted her fan to thump Tayuya onto the ground, back first. A feeling rushed through her as if she felt part of Tayuyas pain. Temari still didn't understand the inhibition in her own movements. I'm probably just still under her spell. Ignore it!
Should have figured she'd break through the illusion, if the whiny bitch from Konoha had been able to break it, no doubt Temari would figure out how to eventually. Although given how long it took her to figure out the illusion, Tayuya wondered if maybe it would be possible to trap her again. Unlikely, but that didn't mean she wouldn't try again later. Having slashed her hand like that, the pain would likely be enough to break any illusion Tayuya threw at her.
The other Tayuyas had vanished, and were nowhere to be seen in the clearing, along with the real one. "You won through a cheap shot and you KNOW IT." Tayuya's voice echoed before it went silent at Temari's sweeping attack, immediately giving the Sound Four survivor flashbacks.
That fan had cut down an entire forest with her in it, left her a cripple, a prisoner of the anbu and her own broken body!
Never again. Never again! NEVER AGAIN!
Tayuya may be more impulsive now than she had been all those years ago, but she knew one thing, that fan was dangerous. The only way she was going to have an edge here was to either break it, or find some way to separate it from Temari.
She narrowly avoids the gusts, and comes at Temari... from above! Pocketing her flute, she swings a naginata, a long spear with a long curved blade. Each swing and thrust gives off a sharp whistle or warble, of course she's found new ways to incorporate sound into her fighting style.
"You broke my flute last time, so you don't get the Doki... but that's just fine by me, because I wanna grind the life out of you myself!" She thrust the spear forward, attempting to jam the blade between the segments of the folding fan, either make it useless or break it.
The thrust lets loose another whistle, imbued with her chakra, those sound warbles cause even more distortions, not to cast illusions but they would still affect the senses, make sounds unbearable or make it harder to see. "After I've killed you, I'm going for that whiny bitch with the ponytail!"
#;; oooh she resist the noise!#;; but she destroy her eardrums while doing so#;; i'm a little drunk I probably shouldn't be writing replies rn#but i can't help it i love this thread!#themxtleycrew

Moving Forward
Characters: Tayuya, Shikamaru and Maito Gai
Words: 4179
For: @shinobimagpie who requested one of her favorite characters for this event
Fear wasn’t something that Tayuya was used to anymore.
When she was younger, more alone, she’d feared the world and all the things that could cause her harm, but then she met Orochimaru-sama. They had reached out a hand and offered her an opportunity to become stronger than any regular shinobi and she’d jumped at the opportunity, and Orochimaru had been right.
Tayuya was stronger than most normal shinobi. With her curse mark, she had been able to defeat Jonin-level shinobi as if they were nothing. She’d faced down Shinobi who should have been able to defeat her easily and beat them into the dirt.
She’d looked at all of those things she once feared and laughed. There was nothing that could stop her.
Until, suddenly, there was.
First, it was the trees.
Right when she was winning the battle, about to claim the life of her enemy and move on as the victor, backup appeared and buried her under a forest worth of trees. Blood filled her lungs, and as she closed her eyes Tayuya thought that she was free from her fear.
Fear cannot chase you into death, after all.
Except, death never came.
She opened her eyes again, days later, and found herself in an unfamiliar place. With white walls, masked doctors, and kind words.
She hated the kindness more than anything. A prisoner was what she was, and it should have been how they treated her, but instead, they smiled. They explained her injuries to her and told her that she would make a full recovery.
As if there was a life for her after she recovered, and not just a cold damp jail cell with her name on it.
She no longer feared the trees. At that moment, she feared life.
An empty, joyless existence in solitude.
Then that fear faded away in an instant. With a knife to her neck, and a promise to ‘keep her from giving up anything about Orochimaru-sama’, Tayuya found herself fighting for her life.
Clawing and screaming in the hopes that she wouldn’t bleed out in a hospital bed, surrounded by strangers.
The fear of life was nothing compared to the fear of death, and death didn’t terrify her nearly as much as the hateful, angry look in Kabuto’s eyes as he stared down at her. Suddenly her powers meant nothing. Her genjutsu was useless without her flute, and all she had to protect herself from Kabuto’s knife was hand-to-hand combat.
An area she was severely lacking in, and which would have been her end if it hadn’t been for the interruption of one of Konoha’s Shinobi. Hatake Kakashi, if she remembered the name correctly.
She didn’t care to remember, though. The man had never spared her a second glance. As soon as he laid eyes on Kabuto he shifted into fight mode, and suddenly she was alone again.
Her attacker and her saviour went out the window to have their battle while she sat in her bed struggling for breath as her chest compressed into itself.
A panic attack.
That’s what the doctors had called it when they found her minutes later, curled up into a ball fighting for her life against her overwhelming fear. They’d managed to calm her down, but the fear was still there.
Her life had been turned upside down in a matter of days and the worst of it all was that stupid Nara boy showing his face in her hospital room with offers of food.
As if they hadn’t just tried to kill each other days ago.
“Shouldn’t you be hanging out with your girlfriend?” she huffed, turning away from him as he pulled her little bedside table and set out the food he’d brought.
“Temari?” his hands didn’t stop, though she could hear a hint of admiration in his voice when he said her name. “No, she’d already on her way back to Suna.”
‘Good’ she ground her teeth, keeping her anger inside. It would do her no good to lash out while she was being watched from every side.
“She actually asked about you before she left,” finishing up with the food, Nara pushed the table towards her. “Of course, it included a few insults I won’t include, but she seemed genuinely worried when she heard about-”
“Don’t,” she hissed. “Don’t you dare say his name.”
Lifting his hands, he held them up in a sign of surrender. “I will not mention his name,” he promised, pointing down at the table without lowering his arms. “I know for a fact that hospital food sucks, so I thought you might enjoy something with a little more flavour.”
Glaring towards the offering, she huffed. It was true that the food she had been given so far was less than spectacular, but it wasn’t as if she was used to eating well. It was a little hard to enjoy good food when they were always moving from one hideout to the next, and Orochimaru-sama never let them eat when they needed to do experiments.
Which was almost always.
Still, it did smell good.
“Why?” she asked, surprised by her own question.
“Why, what?” Nara questioned, his brow furrowing with confusion.
“Why are you bringing me food?” it was difficult to keep herself calm, but she fought to keep the anger out of her voice. “I tried to kill you.”
“Ah, that’s just what enemies do,” he shrugged his shoulders as if she wouldn’t have put an end to his life if his friend hadn’t shown up out of nowhere. “But we’re not enemies now, are we?”
“We’re not?” she wanted to strike him. Scold him for being so careless around someone who tried to kill him. Someone who would have gladly killed him without remorse if given that opportunity.
“Well, I doubt you’re going back to Orochimaru after what just happened,” he grabbed the seat that the nurses had placed against the wall for visitors and pulled it to the bedside, flopping down with a groan. “I mean, he made it pretty clear he didn’t want you around anymore.”
She hated how right he was.
It burned her inside knowledge that all of her loyalty had been for nothing. She had given up her life and become an experiment in hopes of becoming stronger than anyone else, and when it turned out that there were still people out there capable of beating her in a fight, Orochimaru-sama abandoned her.
They had sent their favourite student out to kill her, just so she wouldn’t tell Konoha everything she knew about them. As if her words would even matter to them. By the time Konoha knew the location of Orochimaru-sama’s hideout, they would be gone.
She was alone again and no one was coming to save her.
“H-hey!” Shikamaru jumped to his feet, a hand reaching down toward the weapon’s pouch on his right leg. “I’m not here for a fight. You’re in no shape.”
Registering his words, Tayuya finally dragged her eyes away from the wall and stared at him. “Fight?” she asked, confused by what he had said. “I’m not trying to fight you, idiot.”
His posture relaxed immediately. “Sorry, it just seemed like, well,” he waved a hand toward her. “You look angry.”
She looked angry.
A laugh ripped its way out of her throat. Bitter and angry, it burned almost as much as the tears that gathered in the corner of her eyes. “I am angry,” she growled. “I’m furious. I wish Kabuto was here so I could rip his throat out myself.”
She’d make it a long, painful death. If she had her flute she’d put him under a genjutsu and watch as he cut his own throat out, just as he had tried to do to her.
“Ah, well,” reaching a hand behind his head, he buried it in his hair and sighed. “He’s not here, so maybe relax a little.”
“Relax?” she spat, seething at the suggestion. “I just lost a fight to some random Suna chick who didn’t even have the decency to introduce herself properly before burying me under a forest with her stupid weasel summon. And if that wasn’t bad enough, I was captured by your stupid village because a bunch of trees falling on me wasn’t enough to kill me, thanks Orochimaru-sama,” it had to be their fault that she survived. No normal shinobi could have lived through having their ribs crushed and their liver punctured multiple times. It was the experimentations they’d done on her that made her live, and for the first time in her life, she hated them for it. “And to top it all off,” her fingers curled into the blanket that sat over her legs, knuckles turning white with her grip. “That bastard managed to sneak into my room past multiple Anbu guards to try and kill me, and I couldn’t do a damn thing about it!”
Fighting for her life hadn’t been what saved her. Scratching and screaming hadn’t spared her from the end of Kabuto’s scalpel. The only reason she was alive now was because of a shinobi who just happened to arrive at the right time.
Had he not shown up, she would be laying in a pool of her own blood with no escape from death’s cold grip.
Konoha’s Medical ninja might have been able to save her from her injuries before, but Kabuto knew more about medicine than any of them. He would have made sure she died before they even got to her.
“Well, what are you going to do about that?”
Looking up at Nara, she frowned. “What-”
“You’re alive now, and you might have a chance to make a home for yourself here in Konoha if you want. It won’t be easy of course, but it’s possible,” he continued, ignoring the ridiculousness of his words.
A home, in Konoha.
The village she had snuck into and helped to kidnap Uchiha Sasuke from.
A place she had helped attack just a few weeks ago under Orochimaru-sama’s orders, which she would have gladly watched burn if only they had won the fight.
“I have no home,” she whispered, repeating the words Orochimaru-sama always spoke to her. The gentle but painful reminder that she was alone, no matter where she went or what she did.
“You could have one,” he continued, reaching out and gently pushing her bedside table a little bit closer. “If you want.”
“Why?”
Nara shrugged his shoulders. “I don’t know,” he admitted. “It just feels like the right thing to say.”
A home.
After all of these years alone, fighting for her place in the world, she might finally have an opportunity to find a place in the world that she could call hers.
“I could have a home,” she dared to whisper out loud, letting the words sit on her tongue. For the first time in her life, it didn’t taste like poison. Like a promise waiting to be broken.
For the first time since she was a kid being offered a place in the world by Orochimaru-sama, she felt like it was finally possible to find somewhere she could settle down.
A place that she could call home.
“Well, as I said there is some work to be done on that front,” Nara continued, shrugging when she looked his way. “But, if you were to try and find your place here in Konoha, what would you do?”
“Do?” raising an eyebrow, she waited for him to explain himself.
“What kind of things would you like to do,” he clarified. “If you could do anything tomorrow, what would it be.”
If she could do anything she wanted.
Something that would help her feel safer. More comfortable.
The answer struck her like a lightning bolt.
“I want to learn Taijutsu,” lifting a hand, she ran her fingers along her neck. Right over the spot where Kabuto had held his scalpel against her skin. That tender spot that could have been sliced open without an issue, all because she didn’t know how to defend herself without her genjutsu. “That’s what I would do.”
“Taijutsu, huh,” leaning back a little, Nara dared to smirk down at her. A smug look that she wished to reach out and smack right off of his face. “I think I know someone who can help you with that.”
Dango and a pair of coupons to Konoha’s local sushi shop.
Tayuya wasn’t exactly sure why Nara had given her these things, or how he had convinced Konoha’s higher up’s that she should be allowed to roam around the village. Though, it wasn’t as if she was alone. She was well aware of the Anbu operatives following her as she made her way toward Training field C, where he told her she would find the man she was looking for.
The one who could teach her Taijutsu.
She still wasn’t sure why she was doing all of this. Konoha was a new place to her and she had no reason to trust Nara, even if he did have a pretty smile.
Stopping in her tracks, she stared ahead of herself like a surprised deer. “I did not just think that,” she gave her head a shake, expelling such thoughts out of her mind. “Come on, Tayuya, pull it together. You have one job today.”
It wasn’t the easiest thing to do, but she had to do it.
Nara had assured her this was the best person to teach her Taijutsu. He’d even promised her that it was someone who would agree to train her without much hassle. That last part she wasn’t so sure about, but she was willing to give it a shot if it meant she’d be able to fight off an attacker better next time.
“Alright,” willing herself forward, she continued down the path with a new sense of determination. It was her goal today to leave with a new Sensei. One who would teach her, not just experiment on her. “You can do this, Tayuya. Just give him the gifts, tell him a bit about yourself, and ask for training.”
It wasn’t a lot, yet it was terrifying.
She had faced enemies in a battle that scared her less than this moment. The only thing that kept her moving forward instead of scurrying back to the safety of the makeshift room in Torture and interrogation that they had given her after three rounds of interrogation was the reminder of what would happen if she didn’t ask.
The fear ran deep inside of her just thinking about Kabuto paying her another visit.
“Just ask,” she whispered to herself as she made her way up the path, ignoring the hammering of her heart in her chest when she saw the opening into the training field. “Nara said he was nice. Nice means kind.”
Kindness was new to her though. She didn’t understand it nearly as much as she understood the cruelty and hatred that she had become accustomed to while undergoing Orochimaru’s experiments.
As she stepped up to the opening, finally getting a view into the training field, she felt all of her worries washing away. There was no fear to be felt as she caught sight of the man Nara had sent her to find, a giant turtle on his back, a bright green jumpsuit covering his body with awful orange leg warmers wrapped around his ankles and a smile stretched across his face that made her wonder if the man had lost his mind.
“Just five hundred more laps!” He called out, speaking to himself as far as Tayuya could see. There wasn’t another soul in the field other than her, and he hadn’t even acknowledged her presence.
Watching him, Tayuya began to wonder if this was the man Nara had told her about. The one who could teach her Taijutsu so that she could defend herself better in the future.
“This must be the wrong field,” she muttered to herself, spinning around and moving for a quick exit. “It can’t be him. He’s to-”
Before she could finish her sentence, Tayuya found herself being blocked off from the exit. In a flurry of dirt, the strange Shinobi had burst out in front of her, his smile looking somewhat more deranged now that he was right in front of her.
“You must be Tauya.” her stomach flipped. If he knew her name, that meant he knew what she had done. Even if this was the person she was looking for there was no way he would help her.
She’d wasted her time coming here.
“I think you’ve stunned her,” hearing another voice, she shot down into a defensive position, ready for a hidden shinobi to come out and attack her. “Relax now, I’m not going to hurt you.”
“Where are you?” she growled, scanning the area around them for any sign of the hidden shinobi.
“He’s right here,” without warning the man standing directly in front of her spun around so that the giant turtle was facing her. When she opened her mouth to protest, the turtle turned its head towards her. “This is Ningame, my loyal summon.”
“Summon?” her jaw dropped. There were a lot of different summons in the world but she had never dreamed that someone would have a turtle. An animal that was known for being slow. “Your summon is…a turtle?”
“A Tortoise,” it corrected her with a huff. “I don’t know Gai, this one is rude.”
“You haven’t even given her a chance,” Gai laughed, turning around so that he was facing Tayuya once again. “I apologize. You caught me in the middle of my morning training. Asuma told me that you would be coming, but I was not expecting you until this afternoon.”
“Asuma?”
“Ah, you might not know him,” he grinned, blinding her with those brilliant white teeth. “Asuma is Shikamaru’s Sensei.”
Shikamaru. That was Nara’s first name. She knew that because one of his dumb friends had come to get him while he was visiting her the other day, and they had called him by that name.
It made sense that he’d been talking to his Sensei. The Jonin probably wanted to make sure he wasn’t getting himself into trouble hanging around her. After all, she had tried to kill him. It was only smart to be weary about her.
“Well, if you know why I came, then here,” shoving her arms out in front of herself, she presented him with the gifts that Nara had given her. “Nara told me that today was your birthday, so I should give you something before asking for a favour.”
She wasn’t sure why she was explaining herself. If Nara’s Sensei had told him about her he would know all of this. There was no need for her to explain it all again, but here she was, holding out gifts she hadn’t picked out, with her eyes glued on the Jonin and her heart hammering in her chest.
“This is unexpected,” his laughter didn’t do anything to ease her nerves. “I see Shikamaru is as smart as Asuma says. Dango is my favourite treat, and- oh, certificates to the sushi shop? How much did that set you back?”
“I…didn’t pay.” admitting such a small thing wounded her pride, but it wasn’t as if she had money to fork over for these gifts. Orochimaru had never paid her a single Ryo in her life.
“Ah, so Shikamaru must have bought them,” unphased by her admission, he knelt and let his Tortoise down off of his back, only standing once it was standing comfortably on the ground, and took the offerings from her and watched as she straightened herself up. “Perhaps Kakashi would like to go to dinner with me tonight. It has been a while since we’ve had the opportunity.”
“Does that mean-”
Focusing his attention back on her, he grinned. “Ah, of course!” He cheered, slipping the coupon’s into his right chest pocket for safekeeping. “I do have to focus on my team’s training, and I’m certain there will be some limitations to your movement for a while still.”
That was a fact that she didn’t want to dwell on too much. It made sense that Konoha’s higher up’s were being cautious about her. She had done everything to earn their watchful eyes on her back. Still, it sucked knowing that she wasn’t going to have a lot of freedom until they were convinced she wasn’t going to go running back to Orochimaru.
Still, some training was better than nothing.
“But perhaps a spar first,” her head whipped up, eyes bulging out as she stared up at him, unsure if she had heard him correctly. “I do need to get a feel for where you are so far. Though, you did just get out of the hospital. Would you be able to handle it?”
“I can handle it,” she insisted, charged with a sense of determination that she wasn’t used to. “Besides, if anything happens one of those guys-” she jabbed a finger over her shoulder towards the tree line where she was certain some of Konoha’s Anbu were watching over her. “Will just carry me back to the hospital. It’s not like I have anything better to do.”
Her words were greeted with a frown. An expression that she wasn’t sure the man could make until this very moment. “I appreciate your youthful determination, but overextending yourself after such a serious injury will only end poorly.”
Tayuya rolled her eyes.
“Are all Konoha Shinobi so… cautious?” She asked.
“When it comes to the health of our comrades, yes,” her new Sensei confirmed. “And like it or not, until you’re free from your Anbu guards and choose your path outside of Konoha, you are my comrade.”
Comrade.
That was a weird word to hear.
No one in Orochimaru’s group would dare to consider her a comrade. That was a word that meant they cared about her, and if they cared about her then it meant she was more than just an expendable pawn in Orochimaru’s plans.
“Comrad…” she tested the word on her tongue and cringed when she heard it. “No, that sounds gross.”
A hand came down on her shoulder and squeezed, a small gesture that set her on edge immediately. “Comrad,” he repeated himself, a smile making its way back onto his face. “It might sound gross to you right now, but you’ll get used to it.”
Not seeing any way out of this conversation, she sighed. “Well, if we’re not going to spar today,” her eyes darted to the side, mind wandering to thoughts of that empty, plane room waiting for her back at the Torture and Interrogation building. “I guess I should go back.”
“Nonsense,” releasing his grip on her shoulder, he glanced down at the Tortoise still standing by his side. “What do you say, Ningame? I did promise you a swim in the river after morning training.”
“A promise that I intend to hold you to,” the Tortoise nodded. “I don’t mind if you bring her alone, as long as she learns some manners.”
Tayuya stuck her tongue out at the summon, swiftly earning herself a glimpse of a jumping tortoise, and a foot to the top of her head. “Ow!” She exclaimed, covering the wounded area.
Turning himself around, the Tortoise huffed. “It’s only natural,” he grumbled as he began walking away from them. “You couldn’t have all nice students, I guess.”
“Why you-”
“Here,” a stick of Dango appeared in front of her face. The exact stick that she had presented her new Sensei with just a few short moments ago, was now being offered back to her. “Dango helps to heal all wounds. Especially wounds sustained by the Ego.”
His words made no sense to her, but Tayuya wasn’t about to argue. For weeks she had been stuck in the hospital eating the worst food imaginable, with occasional reprieves thanks to Nara.
Now she was being offered a treat that she would never have the opportunity to have while stuck in her tiny bedroom, and she wasn’t going to pass it up. Claiming the Dango stick, she chomped into the pink ball at the top and savoured the flavour.
Not too sweet and not too bland.
“A fellow enjoyer of dango, I see,” her Sensei chuckled. “Well, come on….I’m sorry, I seem to have failed to ask for your name.”
Swallowing her bite, she examined the stick in her hand, wondering if all of the dango balls tasted the same or if they had their little flavours. “Tayuya,” she answered without much thought. “My name’s Tayuya.”
“Well, Tayuya,” he grinned down at her. “I am Maito Gai, Konoha’s great green beast, and I would be proud to train you in Taijutsu.”
A dorky nickname for a dorky man.
Whatever Tayuya had gotten herself into, she was intrigued to see how it all played out. Even if it did mean surrounding herself with lame Konoha shinobi for a while.

Hellooo!! Can i ask for a ShikaTemaTayu with secret relationship?
Interrupted
for @anaaaaaa0120 requested for Zippy's Soft Prompts Bingo
Characters: Tayuya/Temari/Shikamaru, Shikadai, Inojin and a briefly mentioned OC
Prompt: Secret Relationship
Warnings: Mild language Tayuya comes in the back door of her house after a long shift and makes her way through her usual routine - coat - boots - sink - beer - couch. The first four steps go like clockwork, her hands still damp from the sink as she plucks a cold amber bottle from the fridge door. The couch part of her routine hits a snag though. Her partners are in her spot.
Tayuya stops in the middle of the living room and takes a swig of her beer as she assesses the scene. Temari and Shikamaru are on their knees in the middle of the couch, shoulder to shoulder, practically stacking their heads on top of each other as they peek out a tiny crack in the curtain.
"The fuck are you two doing? You're crushing my favourite cushions."
"Shhhh," Temari whips her head around, finger pressed to her lips. "Don't talk," she whispers urgently. "Just come look and stay quiet." Not one to be left out of gossip in her own house, Tayuya does as told, setting her beer down and sliding up against Shikamaru's side where Temari makes room for her. She now sees their husband is disguising the gap in the curtain with a shadow hand, but despite the slight dimming effect what's going on on the porch just outside is still plain as day.
Shikadai is perched on the porch edge, head bowed in a conspiratorial sort of way with the familiar blonde boy beside him; Inojin has been a fixture in their house since he was old enough to walk there by himself so it's hardly surprising to see him. He's never been the loudest kid, but tonight when Shikadai says something to make him smile his laugh is so soft Tayuya can only just catch a note of it through the glass. He leans close, speaking quiet words with his lips brushing right against Shikadai's cheek, and their hands knit tight together...
She inhales sharply and Shikamaru slams his hand over Tayuya's mouth to squelch the tea-kettle squeak that comes out of her.
"I know it goes against every fibre of your being to be quiet, but seriously babe." he hisses, reeling her back from the window.
"Oh shit!" Tayuya squeaks, as quietly as she can, turning to Temari who is grinning like a fool back at her. "I fuckin knew it."
"My god, I know right? Finally." Temari whispers back, swiping Tayuya's beer from the coffee table for a celebratory sip.
"Shit -" Shikamaru's face pales "-He's coming in, act natural!"
And, with that too-brief warning, he goes bounding off the couch to grab his smokes and bolt to the back porch where he normally would be this time of the evening. The back door is still swinging shut as the front one opens; Shikadai thankfully seems to be looking down the path and waving one last time to Inojin on his way in.
Tayuya grabs her beer back from Temari and they both drop onto the couch, swiftly trying to re-arrange themselves to look as if they have been there much longer than half a second. Shikadai shuts the door, then pulls up short when he sees the two of them sitting there.
"Hey kiddo, how was your day?" Tayuya asks, and she doesn't think her tone betrays anything, but Shikadai still wrinkles his nose briefly in that thoughtful way inherited from his father, instantly suspicious.
"It was fine." His bright eyes narrow at them, a faint flush trying to claw its way above his collar. "Why are you two being weird?"
Temari stammers a 'what do you mean weird?' before Tayuya cuts her off with one slender finger to the lips.
"Seriously? We were kissing just before you opened the door and you snuck up on us, duh," she tells Shikadai bluntly, laughing around a swallow of beer at the immediate face he pulls. "Hey, you asked. Welcome home. Glad your day was fine."
"Yeaaah, I'll just be in my room if this is how your night is going." Shikadai drawls with a roll of his eyes, but he still steps over to the couch and plants a quick kiss on each of his mother's foreheads before heading off to the kitchen. (Food first. Always food first. The curse of the teenager.)
"G'night. I'll text Asuna and warn her to come in the back," he calls over his shoulder before disappearing into the pantry for his spoils.
"Such a thoughtful boy," Temari smirks, before looking over at Tayuya and murmuring under her breath. "Kissing were we?"
Tayuya grins as she sets her drink aside, freeing both her hands to settle appreciatively at Temari's waist and pull her closer.
"Okay, maybe I got a little ahead of myself, but not by much. I mean, why should the young ones get to have all the fun around here?"

“ he needs to remember this pain ” // kidōmaru to tayuya
@sociieties
so, there she was, starving on the down low, staring at this sadist doing absolutely all he can to show the hell off. of course, she’s aware that it’s probably not so much to show off to her-- more to the guy he’s fighting currently. tayuya herself? couldn’t be assed to lift a finger right now. all she can think about is how late they are to dinner time. her dinner time, of course. (as if she’d ever memorize anyone else’s schedule. once again, can’t be assed.) she’d sit, one leg dangling a bit below her perch on the branch, cheek planted firmly on her fist, seeping with attitude while her gut grumbled before she did, “this is stupid.” blatantly, “you’re stupid.” i want to go home. i want waffle fries.
kidomaru took the whole spider trick way too far sometimes. imagine cosplaying as an arachnid and making it a defining factor of your personality. he consistently toys with his opponents, like a spider would a bug in their web. it’s annoying, and it takes too long. of course there’s ways to tide her over until he finally decides he’s bored with this one, but it’s not the same as biting into a good steak. so she leans into her fist just a touch more, one eye squishing partially closed with the pressure, “i need sustenance, kidomaru.” men. men are barely worth half of what they assume they are. one side of her nose kept scrunching up with every passing second, and the list of things that annoyed her about this dude piled up one by one.

I got a really cool ask that I would like to share with you! (I think you'll have a really cool answer)
Your last non rare pair fights your latest rare pair! Go!
I did at the following moments! First Chunnin Exams, Time between Naruto and Shippuden, Shippuden, Blank Period and Onwards 😁
(Obviously feel free to ignore if not your thing 😊)
Sorry for the delay. I was very busy. And thank you so much for the ask! I loved writing this so much! rolls up sleeve This is really going to be interesting. Because these fights would be:
Shikamaru and Temari VS Sakura and Kankuro.
Four people with a lot of brain and skill, depending on the time the are fighting. And a fight Temari vs. Kankuro: I always wanted to see that.
Chunin Exams:
Shikamaru and Temari would win over Sakura and Kankuro, but just because Sakura hasn’t trained under Lady Tsunade yet. Temari knows that Kankuro’s weakness is Tajutsu. He depends on his puppet and tries to keep the people at bay. He can also fight in close combat, but he prefers not, because that isn’t his expertise. While Kankuro fights both Shikamaru and Temari at front, Sakura keeps watching his back, especially taking care that Shikamaru and his shadow won’t catch them. In the end both get trapped in Shikamaru’s shadow and they have to give up.
Time between Naruto and Shippuden:
Temari hasn’t improved her skills much at this point. She knows how to use her tessen to wipe out a whole forest and she could use Kamatri, but this will take a lot of chakra away from her, so this is a last resort. Shikamaru doesn’t know yet what Kankuro is capable of doing with two puppets, so they are at a disadvantage of some kind. Even if Temari has an inkling about Kankuro’s skills, he is a puppeteer and those decide to have their skills and weapons hidden in their puppets. The element of surprise is on Kankuro’s side. What could be an advantage for Sakura and Kankuro are her improved tajutsu skills because she has had some training yet, but she is not quite at her full strength. She can push forward and go into a one on one battle against Shikamaru, to distract him and his shadow, while Kankuro tries to win over his sister. This fight ends in a draw because they even out each other.
Shippuden:
Sakura knows how to heal herself and can kick and punch so hard that Shikamaru fears her strength. Temari is impressed that she has improved so much. The two woman go against each other this time, while Kankuro and Shikamaru fight. Sakura knows that she has to stop Temari using her tessen and gives her a run for her money. Once she has connected a hard blow at Temari, the other woman has to give up. Kankuro also has Shikamaru trapped with his technique. Shikamaru can predict the movements of his puppets because he watches closely what finger he uses to manipulate them (as he did with Tayuya and her genjutsu) He tries avoid every attack, using kunai and paper bombs to distract Kankuro, but he isn’t outsmarted knowing by now that Shikamaru tries to find a weakness. He wins over the shadow user because he has coated the blades and knives of his puppets in poison. In the end Shikamaru gets hit and is unable to continue. Sakura and Kankuro win.
Blank Period:
This battle is different this time because while Kankuro and Temari decide to fight for real, Sakura challenges Shikamaru to play Shogi with her. First Shikamaru and Sakura watch Temari fight with Kankuro. The siblings not only make comments on each others skills being rusty, they also love to show of how good they are. Temari doesn't hold back since she knows that Kankuro also will take everything to bring her down. They train together on a regular basis at home, she doesn't want to lose against her little brother. Kankuro decides that he won't use all of his puppets, just Sasori because he has improved him a lot since the end of the war. Temari avoides all the poison and fire her brother shots in her direction. But she gets trapped and her last solution is to summon Kamatari. Instead of doing this Shikamaru interferes. They are in Konoha, in the middle of the forest, and he knows what Temari did the last time. So he traps Kankuro and Temari in his shadow to make them stop fighting. The siblings decide it is a draw and Temari scolds Shikamaru because he shouldn't have stopped her. Sakura is willing to win over Shikamaru in the Shogi match now. And she does. She knows Shikamaru too well, having grown up with him and so she uses her observation skills to outsmart him. She knows what kind of strategy he uses next, watching the movements of his fingers, his body language. She may not be the strategist and a genius like Shikamaru, but she knows him well to see when he doesn't know to continue. Shikamaru demands a rematch, but even Temari agrees that Sakura wins this time.
Onwards:
They don't do much fighting any longer since they have kids. One day Kankuro teases Shikamaru to no end and he decides to fight him one last time.
Their kids are so embarrassed by their parents and so Shikadai makes the proposal that they could play a video game instead of doing fighting. And the parents agree. While the children watch them, the grown ups sit in front of the TV and start a round of different games. First they play a fighting game. Sakura and Kankuro make Temari and Shikamaru sweat. Both of them know how to use their fingers quickly. Both of them have an excellent chakra control and they use their hands more often for their work. So they stand now chance against this couple. Shikamaru is like Temari good in memorizing the pattern for combo attacks, but it doesn't help them that Kankuro plays with his children on a regular basis, while his brother-in-law and his sister are too busy. This round is a win for Kankuro and Sakura. The second round though is a racing game. And this is the time for Temari to shine. She is in her element, winning every round with her persistence to press one but, drifting and driving her car over the finish line. Kankuro is the only one who can keep up with her, but in the end Temari wins. Shikamaru and Temari celebrate. They want to play another game, but Shikadai, his friends and his cousins are fed up that the adults occupy their game console. He demands to be left alone and that they should use something else to fight against. He even turns off the TV, annoyed that his parents have so much fun. The parents decide to sit on the porch, drinking some tea and agree they are too old for fighting.

why your op sakura au’s are valid, cont.
Continuing from this meta, I have even more reasons for Sakura to have power-up AU’s. While I covered the bases of Team 7 being the Neo-Sannin and inheriting their power, only for Sakura’s gains to be completely diminished with the inheritance of Asura and Indra that Hagoromo granted Naruto and Sasuke, it goes beyond Sakura no longer being their equals and destroying what they gained as the Neo-Sannin.
From what I’ve discovered in the manga, Sakura becoming a carbon copy of Tsunade’s abilities (surpassing or no) actually contradicts her character as established throughout the manga. Why limiting her advancement to only possessing Tsunade's abilities is, actually, OOC and why power-up AU’s rectifies this shortcoming.
Read on to see what I mean.
Sakura & Ino: Why Sakura couldn’t stand being in Ino’s shadow
As many of us saw throughout part 1, one of the defining traits of Sakura and Ino’s rivalry was the fact that Sakura couldn’t bear being lesser than Ino and relying on her too much. While their infatuations with Sasuke were the shallow impetus to their rivalry, it went much deeper than that.
Ch. 71, during Sakura’s flashback to their relationship in the Academy.
One of the most defining traits in Sakura’s relationship with Ino is her blatant feelings of inferiority compared to her. To Sakura, though Ino helped her out of her shell, in doing so, it made her realize how inferior she felt she was.
Ch. 71, just before their fight during the preliminaries properly begins.
These feelings followed Sakura well into her teenage years, even it became her motivation to excel as a kunoichi rather than flounder and let it debilitate her like it did as a much younger child.
Ch. 71. during a later flashback, shortly after the graduated Academy students were sorted into teams.
Affirming again that Sakura’s metamorphosed motivation was to face Ino as an equal, to surpass her as a fully-fledged kunoichi.
Ch. 71, during the same flashback.
And, as we see here, Sakura’s resentment over feeling like Ino’s inferior are is apparent.
Ch. 71, during their fight proper.
Ch. 72, continuing through their fight.
As we see in these panels, even Ino thought of Sakura as less than her, even if I doubt that it was necessarily out of spite until they declared themselves rivals after their graduation. Before, it was likely benign with Ino seeing Sakura as a tag-along as Sakura herself saw herself in relation to Ino.
Sakura & Ino: Fulfilling an Oath
Ch. 72 after Sakura and Ino knock each other out that results in a draw.
Now, as we can see through Asuma and Kakashi’s commentary, Sakura’s promise to Ino is fulfilled through them becoming equals, that she’s no longer in Ino’s shadow and has set herself apart from the Yamanaka and has grown into her own as a kunoichi.
Ch. 72, in the Academy flashback.
Ch. 72, once both revive.
And, again, what fulfills this rivalry is the fact that even Ino sees Sakura as someone who could surpass her, as seen in both the flashback and after their fight. That the resolution to Sakura’s doubts and insecurities compared to Ino, her declaration of rivalry, were all shaped and defined when she surpassed Ino and grew into her own as a kunoichi and person.
Databook 1, that further defines Sakura’s bond with Ino and need to excel. (Source)
That, at the core of her characterization, Sakura isn’t someone who can stand being in anyone’s shadow and has to become her own person distinct from the people who shaped her.
Sakura & Team 7: Watching her back
The second time Sakura’s insecurity over being in someone’s shadow occurs is when her prowess falls short is her relation to Sasuke and Naruto.
Ch. 34, where Sakura expresses dismay at her lack of skill.
Ch. 36, where her lack of confidence over her ability compared to her teammates exacerbates.
Ch. 54, where Sakura laments over being a burden to her friends and especially her teammates.
Ch. 105, after Naruto defeated Neji and Sakura realizes how behind she is compared to him.
Ch. 297, after Naruto’s tailed beast rampage.
Even during the Tenchi Bridge mission, into part 2 after she’s received exhaustive training from Tsunade, these insecurities still haven’t gone away.
Ch. 573
While something like this might not read as insecurity, once again, Sakura wants to be able to do more, to do as much and support Naruto as a member of Team 7.
Ch. 632
As summed up here, Sakura expressed insecurity over not being able to catch up to Naruto and Sasuke, until this moment in the Great War when they can fight side by side.
Fourth databook, Sakura’s entry (Source)
As it states in the 4th Databook, by ch. 632, when she finally caught up to her teammate's backs, absolving her insecurities over being inferior to them both. Yet, as I state in my own meta linked above, they stop being equals once Hagoromo gave Naruto and Sasuke their power-ups, meaning that Sakura’s hope of being their equal was shortchanged once again.
Sakura & Tsunade: Where her excelling stops
Ch. 245, as commented by Jiraiya.
If there’s one thing I can assert, it’s the fact that Sakura surpassing and gaining Tsunade’s skillset isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Tsunade did the impossible and helped Sakura grow stronger than she ever thought possible. Yet, it’s the fact that Sakura’s skillset compared to Sasuke and Naruto is where the issues arise. Now only are Sasuke and Naruto allowed to have skills and innate powers distinct from the Sannin they trained under, again, even Hagoromo gave them powers beyond even that.
Ch. 632 where Sakura is shown to have fully inherited Tsunade’s skillset, further acknowledged by Hashirama, Tsunade’s grandfather, and Shizune, Tsunade’s other disciple.
4th Databook, Sakura’s entry. (Source)
As the 4th databook asserts, Sakura has fully inherited Tsunade’s skillset as both the strongest kunoichi and best med-nin in the world.
Fourth databook, Sakura’s entry (Source)
The Last: Naruto the Movie databook, Sakura’s entry. (Source)
As it further states here, by adulthood when Sakura has achieved the Jounin rank, she has further stepped into Tsunade’s shoes to the point that she’s certainly become Tsunade no. 2. This meta by midgetmeredith further drives this point home.
Thing is, compared to Naruto and Sasuke, she doesn’t have special lineage, kekkei genkai, a bijuu, or a godly being there to grant her advanced abilities. In comparison to her teammates, she falls short.
Does that mean there aren’t pockets of hope? Believe it or not, there are!
A place to excel: Sakura, the genjutsu-type
Originally, Sakura was slated as a genjutsu-type. As we’ve seen in people like Kurenai, Tayuya, and Itachi, genjutsu is an incredible area of prowess to have.
One notable thing is the fact that, while she isn’t shown utilizing genjutsu, she’s both able to break herself and others from it to the point that she’s almost immune.
First-rate chakra control and brainpower!! Braver than any man, charming as a maiden!!
As a ninja, she still doesn’t have any remarkable feats under her belt, but even Kakashi acknowledges her latent ability. Chakra control, genjutsu, her display of knowledge during the Chuunin exams: she’s shown shining potential in a fairly wide array of competences. Should she develop them, she might become a threat even to the great Sasuke! She’s also the one in Kakashi’s team who reins in the two hot-headed types that are Sasuke and Naruto, like an older sister looking after a mischievous little boy.
She easily clears the tree thanks to her chakra!
She breaks through even through super difficult paper tests with her own strength.
Even Kakashi acknowledges her ability with genjutsu. Will she become able to use first-class genjutsu sooner or later…?
First Databook, translation by Narutoversity.
Ch. 246, where Kakashi classes Sakura as a genjutsu-type, originally.
The Last: Naruto the Movie novelization when Sakura breaks out of the Genjutsu Ball Trap set by the Gatekeeper. (Source)
Now, while Sakura is only shown escaping genjutsu or helping others break it, it nonetheless shows that Sakura's talent with genjutsu is an area that could be explored and expanded beyond just being immune and nullifying genjutsu in herself and others. In fact, in the Naruto games, Inner Sakura is commonly utilized in genjutsu, as well as taijutsu and breaking mental blocks, which could fuel this. Hell, she also knows the infamous Demonic Illusion: Tree-binding Death in those games, too.
A place to excel: Sakura, the budding sensor?
As I state in this meta, Sakura seems to potentially be developing sensory abilities.
Sakura Hiden, pg. 168. (Source)
While it's not confirmed, in this scene in Sakura Hiden, Sakura seems to display the ability to sense chakra (whether someone is trapped by genjutsu or not), as well as a limited degree of precognition.
She does it again in Sasuke Retsuden, too.
Sasuke Retsuden, pg. 114. (Source)
Sakura even develops her own unique sensory jutsu based on her perfect chakra control.
Sasuke Retsuden, pg. 55. (Source)
While I certainly can't prove that Sakura is becoming a sensor, these few sources prove that she could develop it in realms like fanfiction and easily have it be justified.
A place to excel: A new medical frontier
Sakura Hiden, pg. 22. (Source)
A common complaint among Sakura fans is the fact that she didn't excel beyond what Tsunade taught her. However, by Sakura Hiden, it shows that Sakura is likely pioneering mental health in the shinobi world, even if it's only demonstrated with the village's children. Yet, in the novel, it even goes on to spread to Sunagakure, impressed by their results in Konoha.
Pg. 24 of Sakura Hiden where the success of the Konoha Children’s Mental Clinic created waves, enough that Sunagakure began taking interest in establishing their own therapy center. (Source)
So, right here is another medical field Sakura could pioneer all on her own, with the blessing of canon, to boot.
Closing Thoughts
As I stated in my last meta, Sakura does indeed deserve her own power-up AU's that go beyond what Tsunade taught her in order for Sakura to truly be considered part of the Neo-Sannin. While I've listed some background characteristics to add to the justification of what it means to be a Sannin as part of the Neo-Sannin, please remember that you don't need justification to do any of these things in fanon. While I hope this meta can give Sakura fans logical reasons to give her power-up AU's, please remember that fanon is meant to be transformative and you don't need a reason to do anything.
However, if this inspires any Sakura fans beyond my first iteration, I'll consider it an honor!

suigetsu headcanons with a heaping of angst, and perhaps msg
tw; murder, death, violence, depression, ptsd, mental instability, self-harm, mental illness, depersonalization, gore, blood, physical/child abuse, emotional abuse
suigetsu’s been through a lot. the blood he spills is an attempt to cover up the memories of stale freedom.
suigetsu and tayuya, the flutist, were friends. they met in one of the hideouts and bonded over the fact that they hated every other person in the shithole that was orochimaru’s labyrinthine setup.
they would talk shit about everyone else all the time. he knows some of tayuya’s past life and clings to her words like they’re the dying notes of a fading outro.
she was the only one who truly understood his worldview and lust for destruction, and his reasons behind it.
on the day she departed for the mission to kidnap sasuke, he saw her one last time. his last words to her were “come back soon so i can hear your flute again. i’m bored of being quiet.”
he was so sure she was going to come back.
part of the reason why he detests karin’s red hair is because it’s so close to tayuya’s hair color. karin’s attitude, too.
he depersonalizes frequently, especially when faced with mirrors. he sees his brother instead of himself. during those times he resides in a waking dream.
after mangetsu’s death he broke every mirrored surface he came across. he was so sure that touching mirrors would let him reach his brother. it didn’t.
because of his extensive amount of time stuck in an enclosed body of water, he’s become conditioned to swimming in circles and will do so by default, even if he isn’t enclosed.
his humor is a cover-up for years of grief he refuses to address and instead hides away.
he likes destroying things because his brother used to praise him for destroying things well, and he wanted his brother’s approval.
when he was younger and was told by mangetsu that he wanted to be mizukage, suigetsu promptly copied him and said he wanted to be mizukage too.
he was frustrated and gravely disappointed to know that only one person could be mizukage at a time.
his brother said he could be his advisor, and he settled for that.
suigetsu wants the seven deadly swords because his brother once held them. he wants to be like his brother.
as a child he was referred to as ‘the second mangetsu’. now that the first one’s dead he doesn’t really know what to do with himself anymore.
he’s only following orochimaru because he has nothing better to do. without mangetsu, his dream means nothing.
he was taught by mangetsu that zabuza was the ideal shinobi, completely utilitarian and unemotional. since mangetsu admired zabuza, suigetsu copied that.
that’s why suigetsu calls zabuza ‘daisenpai’ rather than senpai, the way he refers to kisame. ‘kisame is cool’ but his brother made zabuza the example.
in kiri, it’s not unheard of to hit kids. mangetsu would hit him as a warning, but never often. he took this as normal.
as part of his training, suigetsu conditioned himself not to express affection, and mangetsu never showed him much affection after he turned five years old.
tl;dr: suigetsu is traumatized and it gets shoved into the back of his mind because he doesn’t want to deal with it.

Okay, big rant. It BAFFLES me every single time Sasuke is labelled as either abusive, misogynistic, controlling OR claim that because it is Sasuke, his relationship with Sakura must be toxic. First of all, I'm literally a mental health professional, so I know what I'm talking about. Literally so many male characters in Naruto have displayed actual misogynistic behavior, such as Kakashi (remember when he said girls only care about romance and gave Sakura literally no attention?), Jirayia (cont.)
Okay, you sent me a total of 6 asks for this rant, and I’ve decided to answer the first 3 and the second 3 separately since I have a few things to say about the first 3. Now then, while I understand and agree with the point you’re making, I also have to say that Kakashi and Jiraiya have displayed no misogynistic behaviour at all. Misogyny is the hatred of, contempt for, and prejudice against women, and neither of them have ever indicated any of those traits. Shikamaru I’ll agree with, because he definitely displayed some misogynistic views earlier in the series because he very clearly thought of girls as annoying, troublesome, high maintenance and all the rest of it. But Kakashi and Jiraiya? Not those two.
Regarding your Kakashi comments, he said how it only seemed that young girls were more interested in love than ninjutsu based on the introduction that Sakura gave herself, and you can’t really blame him for reaching that conclusion:
Yes, he shouldn’t have generalised like that based on the example of a singe girl, but that’s an example of gender generalisation, not of misogyny because this was not a preconceived notion; it was based on (minimal) experience.
Regarding your other Kakashi comment, to say that he gave Sakura literally no attention at all is simply not true and is doing Kakashi a great disservice. It is not a Sensei’s job to teach their students new techniques; It is a Sensei’s job to guide their students down the correct path of being a Shinobi, and to ensure they follow the principles taught by the Will of Fire. Kakashi did that with all of his students (bar Sasuke whose Curse of Hatred was too powerful). The reason he taught Sasuke was because as he said, they were similar, and so personally training him would have given the best results. That’s the reason why Hinata and Neji train with Hanabi and Hiashi, and is also the reason why Gai always personally trains Lee - Because they are all similar and so training together would be the most productive option. You may as well say that Gai paid literally no attention at all to Neji or Tenten just because he didn’t train with them, but that’s not true; It’s not Gai’s job to teach them new techniques. Kakashi knows who Sakura is as his student - He knows her techniques, her potential, her skills, where she excels and where she could improve, her personality and character, her relationships with her peers etc, and a good example of this was his commentary during her fight with Ino in the 3rd Round Prelims:
And he was saying that to Naruto who didn’t know that about Sakura, but Kakashi did know those things because he did pay attention to her.
Regarding your comments about Jiraiya, yes he’s a pervert, but that doesn’t indicate misogyny, it just indicates that he’s a pervert, nothing more. Just because he has some lustful tendencies doesn’t mean he had contempt for those women. He also showed no indication of targeting teenage girls, ever. The women he showed interest in were always shown to be at least in their mid 20′s.
I agree that Shikamaru was rather misogynistic towards the beginning, but I have an issue with two of your comments. Firstly, him not including any females in the Sasuke Retrieval mission was not misogynistic; He was asked to gather the most physically gifted Genin at his disposal, and that’s exactly what he did. Naruto, Neji, Kiba and Chouji all had greater combat prowess than Sakura, Ino, Hinata and Tenten did at the time. Only Temari was skilled enough to have gotten into their ranks, and she would prove this during the mission itself when she saves Shikamaru’s ass from Tayuya.
Secondly, when Sakura arrived, Shikamaru did not say that she would be “of no use”. What he said was that Sakura tried and failed to persuade Sasuke with words. Therefore, he deemed that Sakura’s “role” (of persuasion via peaceful methods) was no longer being considered; They were now going to use force:
That’s all there was to Shikamaru’s comment, there was no underlying misogyny there because he was only referring to the methods being employed in order to bring Sasuke back. And since he realised that if even someone like Sakura (who he knew was close to Sasuke) couldn’t convince him to reconsider defecting, then the choice was clear; They had to bring him back by any means necessary.

Can you write Tayuya/Karin? Theyre the rarest rarepair and I crave content blz and thanks;;
“Excuse me,” says a quiet voice, and Tayuya forces herself to sit up, eyes narrowed and ignoring the pain. There’s a girl at the door - another redhead, around her age, and she looks nervous and frightened and Tayuya knows looks are deceiving as hell.
“What do you want?” She snaps, hand curling around her kunai. Tayuya had barely - barely - managed to make it here, her legs smashed and she had basically had to crawl the whole way back. She had been the only survivor. Even Kimimaro, that immortal freak of a ninja, had finally been done in by that sickness mid fight.
But Tayuya had lived, Tayuya had dragged herself back by her hands, and Tayuya had been so relieved to see the Uchiha here because Orochimaru doesn’t tolerate failures, and now?
Now, Tayuya wasn’t about to get killed by this little bitch.
“I wanted... I wanted to make a deal with you,” the girl says softly, taking a small step in and closing the door behind her, and Tayuya’s hand goes white-knuckled on her weapon.
Orochimaru hadn’t healed her, of course. No need to waste resources on her when she had been beaten so thoroughly - he hasn’t even given her a second glance since she got back and it burns - and it meant she was vulnerable to anyone who wanted to take her out of the running.
Her punishment, she supposes.
So this girl’s statement makes her hesitate, because honestly if this girl tried to kill her, she’d probably win. “What kind of deal,” Tayuya says.
The girl hesitates and rolls up her sleeve, revealing bite scars that crisscross every which way and Tayuya’s eyebrows shoot up. “If you bite me, I can heal you,” she says. “Not all at once, but... a week, maybe.”
That literally sounded way too perfect to be true, and Tayuya frowns. “So what do you want from me?”
“Protection,” says the other girl immediately. “I can’t fight - and maybe training, too. I would...” She hesitates again, considering - clearly one new to Sound, or she wouldn’t be this expressive. “I would keep healing you, too, after your missions and stuff.”
Huh. Incentive to keep her alive after the initial healing - clever. Tayuya had been tempted to agree and then slit her throat the second she was healed. But as it is...
Right now, Tayuya’s screwed. There’s no two ways about that. Anyone who has a grudge against her can slaughter her now, and unless she manages to convince Kabuto to help her, the only way she’ll get healing will be to physically drag herself out of the base, which will leave her very vulnerable. This is really the only logical choice.
“Fine,” Tayuya says, and with a flick of her fingers, she dissolves the genjutsu traps the girl would have been caught in if she stepped any closer. “What’s your name?”
The girl had startled, and Tayuya wonders if she could tell the traps were there - because now she easily strides forward, presenting her arm. “My name’s Karin,” she says softly, bracing herself.
“Tayuya,” she replies, and she bites.

The words were piercing. Tayuya wasn't even using a jutsu but still managed to make Temaris head ring with only the sound of her voice. Temari flinched, then sighed. She was expecting Tayuyas reaction to be close to this but actually hearing her words, her voice; seeing the look in her eyes...it hurt. She dared to look into the redhead's eyes for a second, shooting her an apologetic look. The kunoichi didn't know why she was asking that either. Why would Tayuya want to be near the person that broke her life in two? Stupid question. But with the insult Temaris ego rose a bit. "I...didn't attack you for fun....It was an order..." but she interrupted herself in her mumbled words. A part in her knew that that wasn't an justification but another part inside her wanted Tayuya to forgive her so badly. But never knew what to say or do. "I'm so sorry...If I would've known..." So her gaze dropped to the ground. Seeing the pain in her eyes was too much.
All of the sudden a soft smile rushed over Temaris face. "I just like to see you happy...I wish I could more often." there's no point in hiding anything anymore. Still, Temari was prepared in case of Tayuya wanting to break her back in return again. "And the backdrop of Suna's sand buildings suits you really well..." she quickly added.
@sandzephyr continued (X)
"Happy? With YOU?!" The fact that Temari just asked so casually, as if expecting Tayuya to just go along with it, she wasn't sure which Tayuya found more insulting.
"Do you have ANY idea what you did to me?! What I went through because of YOU?!"
She wanted to scream, she wanted to smack that suna kunoichi across the face for that. Temari's actions, in her eyes, saved Shikamaru and 'killed' an enemy combatant. If only the last part had been true. Tayuya hadn't been killed, but she'd been pinned under all those trees, unable to even feel her lower body, she probably would have died if the Anbu hadn't found her. She spent years in a prison, barely escaping before Konoha had been flattened in the Akatsuki attack, she'd missed out on the shinobi war, attempts to put her back together had been failures and had done more harm to her body than good.
Her growth had been stunted, her legs were now covered in surgical scars from all the attempts to fix the damage TEMARI caused! Her entire squad, Orochimaru's elite, now had the reputation of all falling to mere GENIN, a mark of shame she would never be able to wipe away.
So why... why was her heart beating so fast, she was so angry, yet all she could muster were tears welling up in her eyes. "I... I spent five years hating you! I wanted nothing more than revenge against you! How... How can I be happy with you?! Tell me, bitch?! HOW!" She grabbed Temari by her collar and pulled her in close, screaming those last words directly in her face.

Hi. I'm working on a Sound Four in the Real World story because I NEVER see them. My favorite is Kidomaru. I'd love to see some sweet girl help him through the healing process. May I have some Kido/fem!oc scenarios for some inspiration please? Credit WILL be given! -Jewel
I know I didnt make this very couple-ly, but its a good start to a relationship the reader could have with Kidomaru. I hope you like it and inspires you for your own story as I know we have talked about it. I tried to incorporate the aspects of your story you wanted but not all of them are mentioned. Hope you understand.
Also I’m not oppose to writing more of Kidomaru with a modern girl as he tries to adjust to his new life. so feel free to send in another request if you want to see something specifically. I found writing the sound four in the modern universe very fun. So thank you so much for the request!
Helping to Heal, Kidomaru
“Ow, shit that hurts,” Kidomaru hissed, moving his head.
“Hold still!” You scolded, becoming equally annoyed at his childish behavior. “Of course, it hurts. You cut open your head.”
“Yeah I know. That doesn’t hurt. Your stupid medicine hurts. What do they put in that shit? Acid? It stings,” Kidomaru retorted, glaring at you.
He wasn’t annoyed at you directly nor that you were trying to help him, but he was annoyed how he had received the cut in the first place. He still had a long way to go to adjust to this new dimension.
“The sting lets you know it’s working,” you responded, with a smirk as you dabbed at his wound again.
He hissed but did not move away from your hand this time as he knew what to expect. He sulked while you cleaned his wound. His eyes soaking you in, seeing the concentration on your face.
“If you guys didn’t have medicine in your world, what did you guys have to treat wounds?” You questioned, curiously.
You were extremely curious about the world he and his friends had come from. You could ask endless questions if they had outstanding patience and if you didn’t care to bug. They were snippy though and were short with their answers typically as they were more interested in where they were. Kidomaru’s tone was a lot calmer when he answered you.
“We mostly used medical ninjutsu. It easily numbs the pain and the healer automatically helps repair cell damage.”
“Medical ninjutsu?” you tested the odd word on your tongue. “So, your healers are like shaman or something?”
“What the crap is a shaman?” Kidomaru remarked loudly, thinking that you were making up words now.
You rolled your eyes. “Never mind.”
It was both hard for you two to understand each other. You knew he was not from this world as it was obvious from his state of dress when he first arrived. He came off as a rather brash and uncanny guy.
He was also arrogant; a trait shared with his other four companions he ventured with. Him and his pals all believed they could perform magic, or jutsu, or whatever they had called it. They kept testing what they could and could not do in this dimension (your world).
You would have thought Kidomaru was crazy, if it had just been him you found wandering in the middle of the woods on the mountain side. However, finding five individuals lost that all believed the same thing was not probable.
They couldn’t all be delusional, at least not with the same delusion.
Slowly you had accepted that they might have come from somewhere else, as you had lent them aid and had offered up your home. After all, you were quite secluded from civilization, being up in a cabin in the middle of the woods. Most of the people you saw were hikers, campers, or a few neighbors from time to time if you went to the general store or gas station. It wasn’t often running into new people, let alone five people claiming they’re from Otogakure. Wherever that is, but not all five have seem to accept the world you lived in.
Your world had no powers, enhanced abilities, talking animals, nor shapeshifting men. No, your world was dull from their point of view. You may not be able to create webbings from your mouth, but at least your cabin had indoor plumbing and electricity. That was a plus, right?
You eyed Kidomaru from above him. His mouth was set in a frown as you tried to imagine him creating webbing from his mouth. You couldn’t quite picture it of him. It was hard to picture any of the teenagers that were your age being fighters. However, his defined muscles on his bicep didn’t lie.
With a blush, you finished patching up his head.
“Ok, you’re good to go. Please don’t try running up the slippery rock cliff again,” You urged kindly, concern evident in your voice.
Kidomaru touched the bandage on his head before meeting your eyes. He was never fond of being told what to do, especially by those weaker than him. However, he saw that your concern was genuine in your eyes and felt his argument fall silent in his head.
With hesitancy, he got up from the toilet seat that he had been sitting on in the bathroom. He glanced at his reflection in the mirror, still finding it strange how he was missing four of his limbs.
“Uh… I guess thanks?” He mentioned, unsure.
You hummed with a nod, as you reorganized your first aid kit. You were happy to have helped him.
“Guess I should attend to the next one.” You stated, knowing Jirobo had a nasty gash on his arm from trying to catch himself on a branch before falling.
“I’ll get him.”
You were already turning towards the bathroom door when Kidomaru step forward to do so too. Your hands collided with his on the bathroom door. Both of you froze as your bodies were mere inches apart. You couldn’t control the blush that tinted your cheeks.
You had to scroll your eyes up from his chest to his face to see that he was already looking down at you. A red tinge was barely visible under his tan skin and you could tell he was just as flustered as you were.
You were the first one to break contact with his eyes and his hand.
“Sorry,” you mumbled nervously.
Kidomaru stepped back awkwardly. He wasn’t sure what had just happened. All he knew was he felt his stomach toss funnily and felt heat upon his cheeks. He wasn’t used to close contact with any one unless for violent means. Being so close to you though, made him feel dizzy. He didn’t know if he particularly liked that feeling.
The pause of silence was only so much for you to bare that you fumbled to open the bathroom door to leave. You had to get out of there for your own embarrassment sake and so that you could cool down.
Kidomaru followed you a second later. He said nothing as he was seemingly trying to analyze what had happened.
When both of you reentered the living room where the rest of his companions were, you called for Jirobo next.
“About time.” Jirobo gruff out as he lifted himself off the lumpy couch.
“Yea, any longer and I think you two were banging in there,” Tayuya commented crudely.
“Tayuya, a girl shouldn’t say such things,” Jirobo scolded, harshly.
“Oh put a paper bomb in it, Jirobo!” Tayuya snapped, her voice raising.
“Is it too much to hope that you two could go an hour without arguing,” Sakon muttered.
You were happy the four of them were too distracted to see the raging blush that had returned to your cheeks at Tayuya’s comment. It was inappropriate and far-fetched, but secretly you knew you had taken longer than normal to patch Kidomaru up.
You didn’t do it on purpose, but there was something about him. Something that drew you to him unknowingly. Sure, he was crossed half of the time and haughty, but you knew there was more under the surface and you wanted to find out what it was.
Kidomaru ignored Tayuya’s comment as he made his way to the sofa chair and flopped down.
“Shut the hell up already,” he commented.
“Sounds like someone fell off the wrong cliff,” Ukon jested, receiving a glare from his wounded friend.
You took one last look at Kidomaru before following Jirobo into the bathroom to patch him up. Kidomaru’s face showed heavy signs of annoyance as he played with the bandage at his head.
You didn’t know where the five teens had come from but knew that wherever they did come from the world had not been kind to them. They all had been unhappy about their fate and you only wish you could learn what they had experienced to help them move on.
