In the wake of the target pride boycott i gotta tell yall some good news. Woolworths south africa recently put up a pride display and some dude lost his shit about it on twitter so Woolworths blocked his Woolworths account so he can't use his shopper rewards and stuff

They really said 'well since you wanna boycott us let's keep you committed'

And when I saw south africans talking about it I was worried the comments would be filled with hatred but its like 10 homophobic fools and everyone else is absolutely cooking them im so proud of my people

Honestly, there wasn't any way for Target to win this one. In order to not cease to exist as a company when their-- it was either their stocks or their profits-- went down 90% due to the conservative boycott, it was either abandon ship or sink with it. If they sunk with it, there wouldn't be any store TO put pride merch in. Abandon ship, and then they get boycotted by the other side of the controversy for abandoning them, when that very same side generally tends to just shake their heads at shallow corporate lipservice to allyship (which even I can't deny this was ┐⁠(⁠‘⁠～⁠`⁠;⁠)⁠┌). Damned if they did, damned if they didn't. From a self-preservation standpoint on their end, they were better off not even trying to begin with. At least the left and the right can agree now on boycotting Target, for what that accomplishes at this point...? ┐⁠(⁠‘⁠～⁠`⁠;⁠)⁠┌ I dunno, man... Either way, it's depressing to watch, for sure.

Caving to hateful extremists is why you should not be shopping at Target.

They decided to not protect their employees.
