I don’t have much to contribute to the Hunger Games fancast but Tanaya Beatty is how I imagine Katniss looking! She’s 32 now but I believe these are photos from her early 20s. She’s appeared in the Twilight Saga and tv show Yellowstone.

Rookie-Critic's Top 25 Films of 2022: #16: Crimes of the Future (dir. David Cronenberg)

Among the pantheon of all-time mainstream classic directors, I would say David Cronenberg is second only to David Lynch in terms of the bizarre and unsettling aesthetic and nature of his films. However, unlike Lynch, Cronenberg's films are hardly ever impenetrable. Sure, they're weird and filled with body horror and strange, practical effects-driven, fleshy creations, but the heart of a Cronenberg film is normally very simple, and their messages are easy to pick up on. The imagery in Crimes of the Future is precise, it's point is crystal clear without being preachy, and regardless of all of its eccentricities, the story is engaging and makes sense (something I feel his son Brandon, who has a very similar film making style, could learn a lot from). Viggo Mortensen continues to exhibit the talent of someone who should be considered among the greatest actors currently working right now, and Kristen Stewart and Scott Speedman are spectacular in their respective roles, as well. Personally, I found myself unable to look away from the strange-reflection of our world that Crimes of the Future inhabits, and much like The Black Phone and X, it's a film that got added to the list fairly early on in the year that never got pushed off (a pattern that will continue as we get closer to the #1 spot). It had been a week or so since Rip Wheeler, the toughest cowboy that Avery knew this side of the Rockys, asked Avery to come work on the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch. Avery had liked working there thus far. Rip had made it very clear to the other ranch hands that she was NOT to be fucked with & Avery re-enforced that with her own declaration.

“I don't know why you're all so nervous. I had my ass in every face in this room. For the record, if I wake up in the middle of the night to one of you assholes standing over me beating your root, I'll cut it off.”

AND don't you think for a minute that Avery didn't see that snide little smirk of Rip's when Avery said that to the other hands as she stripped down. Rip & Avery had been friends for a time now, not terribly long but long enough that she could walk up to Rip & ask if he wanted to get a beer just for the fun of it, & it be no big deal. Which is EXACTLY what Avery was gonna do. It had been a minute since she just talked to the old big & brooding cowboy. See how life's going for him.

It was sometime after noon, but not quite sunset yet. Avery looked at her phone to see the time then walked into the stables of the ranch where she knew Rip would be this time of day. When Rip looked up to see Avery she smirked smugly & nodded once upward to silently say 'hey' to him. It was nice out, a refreshing breeze came through the stables open doors, wafting in the smell of the ranch, & Montana in general. It felt nice to Avery. Almost everything was damn near perfect in Avery's eyes.

Definitely were equally as wild as Julie as a teen. Julie was one of those girls that was friendly to all, but a friend to some. This muse may have been a little more of an open book and even more extroverted.

I do imagine the two of them were the type to bully a bully.

They both mellowed out a little post-high school, but still are partner's in crime. So much so, that Julie's son, Kip, basically considers this muse family.

“Mr Robinson” Lionel Robinson──he/him. 42. The man who funded your radio show, the one who got you to where you are. Kind, calm and considerate, especially with Nate. But every one has a line to cross at some point and Mr Robinson is not someone to get angry.

Mica has strong opinions and Nate has never been in their good books, but surely they wouldn't do anything to jeopardise your job.

He's taken the utmost interest in his siblings case, suspiciously enough to become entangled in it more than anticipated.

“Fauve” Faye─Mauve Langham──she/her. 25. Fauve is a bit of a groupie, she can admit. She's not totally obsessed with Radio Kathryn, she reasons, she's just invested in the show and even more so in the people behind it. Fauve become more involved in the case of Nate Nicks than she's wanted, leaving you to wonder just what it is that keeps her going─even to the edge of insanity.

“Mr Lewis” Jackson Lewis──he/him. 33. The night shift receptionist-slash-building coordinator. He usually brings his daughter to sit in on show recordings, seeing as she's got a bit of a crush on Nate─he's a no-bullshit kind of man but his soft spot is his daughter's puppy dog eyes. He just so happens to be the last person to see Nate before he disappeared and you can't help but get the feeling he's not being truthful in his statement about it.
