An up-close reminder of why NOT to have your phone out on roller coasters. This is a whole CHUNK taken out of the lower wheel from Cheetah Hunt, caused by a cellphone that had been dropped on the track. Not only do you destroy your phone, but you can do some serious damage to the coaster itself! Damage like this requires the whole train to come off the track and be at least partially, if not entirely, disassembled. Cheetah Hunts maintenance is done in-house annually and as needed by Busch Gardens mechanics. Super grateful for what they do!

It's sad how many people don't know that there are shuttles that will pick you up from your home and take you to a free shelter during Hurricane Milton. The fact that people still push the "poor people can't afford to evacuate" line is really sad.

Please help combat this and spread the phone number to request a shuttle, and let people know Uber and Lyft are also offering free or discounted rides to evacuate the storm and get to a shelter.

Also important to note that there are shelters who are specially equipped for people with special needs.

Summary

"Number 1, shelters cannot and should not ask for your ID in order to access them. You have a right to seek shelter regardless of your immigration status, regardless of your citizenship status and regardless of whether or not you have a government ID on you.

Number 2, well undocumented immigrants may not qualify for FEMA assistance, their children with citizenship do.

Number 3, ICE should not be operating at this time as it is a state of emergency.

Absolutely nobody should be deterred from being safe during a natural disaster."

In 2022 I drove up to Tampa to hang out with some friends, and there was a colossal confederate flag next to a cross right before my final exit. Today I'm bussing up to Gainesville, passing through Tampa, and while the cross is the same the flag has been updated to the final "blood-stained banner" instead of the battle flag. It's still the same racist sentiment, but I guess the property owner caught a bunch of shit and wanted plausible deniability. I mean, really, who flies the confederate surrender flag?

For a second, while the wind wasn't blowing, I thought it was the Canadian flag.

Ain't she beautiful? Kumba is still one of the most beautiful roller coaster's in the US, in my opinion. There are not many coasters in the world with a vertical loop AROUND the rides very own lift hill! This loop is one of the SEVEN inversions throughout the whole ride!

The TECO Streetcar is possibly the greatest amenity in Tampa. Apparently they started it for the tourists, since it runs from downtown to Ybor City along the waterfront. People figured out the exact same thing I did on my first trip (I come here once a year for work): you can use it to commute if you're headed to downtown or good at putting together bus connections out of downtown.

My client tried recommending hotels right near their office in far suburbia. Last time, I ended up living on Subway sandwiches from the nearby gas station, so this year I found myself a comparably priced hotel at the edge of Ybor, where I can actually go out and do things. I'm not that much of a party animal, but knowing I can get a pizza slice at midnight or go sit with the feral chickens at 6 a.m. is huge.
