While Makoto was out with Himeko, Riku was expecting a visitor. It didn’t take long before Kanna’s mom opened the door.

           “Excuse me,” she said, taking her shoes off as she held onto a small girl—the same one from the day before when everyone went to Kanna’s apartment. She was born with a set of special hair colors and eye colors. The right side of her head had golden hair while the left side had red hair. On the flip side (and literally on it), her right eye was red and her left eye was gold. Talk about some neat heterochromia.

           Riku smiled when he saw Kanna’s mother and younger sister step into the living room. “Hi, Mrs. Yuasa! Yui!”

           Riku was a year older than Yui, so they were close in age, like a pair of siblings. They smiled at each other and waved.

           Mrs. Yuasa greeted, “Hello, Riku. Where’s Makoto today?”

           Riku said, “He went out earlier.”

           “I see.”

           Riku and Makoto’s mother looked over from the kitchen and smiled faintly at Mrs. Yuasa and Yui. “Thank you for always coming over.”

           Mrs. Yuasa smiled back. “It’s no problem.” She let Yui down to play with Riku. “Kanna is over with Ayato today and my husband is away at work.”

           Mrs. Morimachi nodded. “It can be tough as a housewife around this areaA, but I do love how our kids will always be together.”

           Mrs. Yuasa giggled. “I as well.”

 Meanwhile, at Ayato’s apartment, Kanna was in the kitchen with Ayato’s mother. Ayato and Takamune were also gathered nearby.

           “Hey, why does Kanna get to stand next to you, mom?” Ayato asked.

           Ayato’s mother was in front of the stove and glanced at her son and visitors. “Fufufu, Ayato. It’s okay to let her stand her every once in a while; we’re here to have fun cooking together.”

           “I see,” Takamune noted. “Is there anything we can help with, Mrs. Hidaka?”

           Mrs Hidaka giggled. “Why, yes there is!” She took some spices that were in small bowls in both her hands, and handed them to the boys. “Can you take these to the bowl that has the ground beef patties for the hamburger steak?”

           Ayato looked at the spices. “Huh? What do we do with these?”

           “Sprinkle them gently on the patties,” Mr. Hidaka said.

           Kanna smiled and said to the boys, “Yummy food has some spices added, you two.”

           Takamune nodded. “Understood.”

           Ayato frowned and said, “Fine.”

           As the boys sat in the chairs to the table where the bowl was, they put the spices neatly on the patties and quietly too. Kanna and Mrs. Hidaka smiled at each other, and Mrs. Hidaka looked over the preparations for when they would get to cook the hamburgers. It would be an amazing day under the apartment roof indeed that day.
