This rant has 1 target audience and it’s me sorry I like to talk about my unfinished/abandoned stories like they’re successful tv shows and I’m the director getting interviewed about the little details of said show

I love afterland postal so so so much you don’t know how hard it was for me to cut it, but it got to the point that it’s effecting my mental health so I had to stop it. His story in the afterlife is a healing journey, so for that healing journey to be effective I have to make the downfall in his past life hurt, like, HURT hurt, and I went a bit too far that and focused on it a bit too much that I was not working on the healing part anymore. Everyday I regret the making of water angel cause it ended being my fav instead of the protagonists and it being the physical manifestation of death made me focus on the downfall of the story too much, until it literally just crumbled to the ground. If I pick back up Dolus’s story one day I will cut out water angel entirely and maybe most part of his past life, focusing mainly on the afterlife part and how he recovers/deal with his past traumas and rid of bad habits. I want to draw this gremlin again so so bad.

Afterland Postal is a story about learning to love life through death. I like to draw Dolus with CT moon and Callisto sitting together because all three of their stories are about “learning to love life again through the death”. In Dolus’s case is his literal death. For CT moon is him fantasizing death. And for Callisto is through the death of her old life.

After the “death” all three of learned to love themselves again by traveling. They see the world in different perspectives, goes out of their bubbles and get a taste of the wild possibilities of what life has to offer.

For Dolus, I specifically placed him in this post office that delivers mails to the living plane so he can run around experiencing the world but doesn’t have to deal with life? One of his big thing is that he enjoys simply existing, he likes observing the world, feel his surroundings, I had an entire chapter that’s describing how he sees the world through his 5 senses. The feelings are the only thing he enjoyed about life, now he’s a ghost life doesn’t have effect on him anymore, he can really slow down sit down and look at the world he didn’t have the time to look at before, see what he missed and what he may have never be able to see.

For CT moon is basically all described in that If my world goes Bang comic.

Callisto is a different case cause she doesn’t die, strongest fucking character in my stories she survived and very passionate about living. In the original plan after her finding Hester and having Hester’s soul freed, she’s gonna go and travel the world. She has been living in this little house in the middle of nowhere for good half of her life, having her burned down her past and moving on to a new one is good for her. I had a lot a lot of sketches that is just her traveling, I used this as a chance to expand on this weird magical world she lives in, so many cool places and concept. (Also she started dating people again wohoo) I really wish I didn’t burn myself out after that animatic this story would have been so fun to work on.

SPEAKING OF TRAVELING AS A HEALING MECHANISM☝️I m gonna go on a mad Orange Knife spoiler rant since I don’t think there’s a single soul still reading this thing. In Moondust & Natto plot, Moondust really really wanted to see the world with Natto, she loved the world she loved life, in her eyes the outside world is a struggle but one she would fight for because the sunset is beautiful and the grass is soft and for that the hardship is worth it, she loved the world so so much and she wanted to have Natto experience it too. Freedom was a large part of her soul and being add to OK’s collection permanently took that away. She never got to see it again not even the part of her that got added to worm made it out, her soul is killed long ago and body died with the fire that led to Worm and the remaining crew’s freedom, which honestly I think she would be happy knowing that her death freed Natto in the end. She would be mad knowing the person who killed her is freed too but she would understand if she knows Worm’s situation better. After Natto is free I’d like to think he carries a piece of Moondust with him so in his heart he completed their dream, and they can finally experience the world together.

My personal stance is that I believe the TV show has more value if you interpret Xena and Gabrielle as falling in love with each other but not necessarily an official couple. I myself, as much as I ship them, only believe they’re an official couple in the last two seasons of the show because I think the storytelling works best that way. It makes the most sense in my opinion to understand them as a really well-written and portrayed slow burn ship not unlike Mulder and Scully or Bones and Brennan or Castle and Beckett. Notoriously known as opposite sex slow burn couples. Well Xena and Gabrielle are like that to me just - same sex instead. I mean they’re the only two lead main protagonists in the entire show so their relationship is a pretty big part of what the show is as a whole just as the opposite sex pairings I mentioned are in their respective shows. However, the way you wish to interpret the nature of that relationship is entirely up to you and I love that because the ambiguity of their relationship is part of what makes the show so timeless. But, as I said, for me personally, the entire show has so much more value if you interpret Xena and Gabrielle’s relationship as romantic. Not necessarily sexual because it doesn’t have to involve sex. But still definitely romantic in the sense that they’re a WLW love story. I think the overall strongest and most substantial themes and messages hit much harder and deeper that way and even some of the other character’s arcs feel much more significant because of it. Especially Callisto. That’s what I ultimately care about at the end of the day. How does interpreting Xena and Gabrielle as an epic romance impact the whole story of the TV show? And my take on that is very positively because their relationship is written and portrayed so well that no part of the show is ruined with this aspect in mind. In fact, I would say it makes it even greater - which is definitely very rare to get these days with all the forced diversity.

you know i think xena was making vital headway with all the crazy homoerotic fights with xena and callisto but i think more work can be done for true equality in the realms of i think we need a tv show to do like lesbian amok time and more really insane incomprehensible homoerotic fight scenes between women but like in the way that we have reprogrammed a lifelong fujoshi into the ways of writing women and so its like getting that level of whatever the hell and bringing it to femslash bait television screens i think that is a well that has gone un mined has caused serious ceding of ground to underwhelming femslash and not expecting more grand shifts in fan taste to reflect and create new eras of interest....

An ode to an incredible character in ‘Xena: Warrior Princess’. Callisto is the greatest “villain” I’ve ever seen on any TV show. I only put quotation marks around the word ‘villain’ because she really wasn’t a villain at all to me. I have a hard time calling her one because she was just depressed and psychotic. She was a misunderstood soul that needed to be saved.

I’m happy she got the ending she deserved in that Xena had to be the one to save her soul as she was who killed it in the first place. I never quite forgave her for that even though it was just backstory when I learned of it. This should have been the reason why she had to die and stay dead in ‘AFIN’ in my opinion instead of that unintentional fucking fire. It was a fire that burned Callisto’s hometown and killed her family too. But it wasn’t an “oopsies, I had no idea I did this because I was grieving and drunk”. It’s was more “I had no awareness or control over what my own army was doing and didn’t care enough to find out”, and therefore much more justified because it wasn’t an accident or a mistake. It was blatant ignorance and wilful negligence of her own actions and choices. If they really wanted Xena’s endgame to be over the implications of a fucking fire - this was how to do it!

I’m fairly certain if the show was flipped on its head and Callisto was the lead protagonist in the show instead, you’d absolutely see that Xena was the villain. So if you have any hard feelings towards Callisto in any way, shape or form, this video will change your mind because it shows Callisto’s side of the story - which is a side you don’t see often enough to realize how complicated of a character she actually is. She’s a woman who never got to be a child. Child of Cirra.

Follow her story of vengeance and hatred through this video and come to see Callisto in a whole new light.

Thank you, Hudson Leick, for giving us all such a phenomenal acting performance every time you were on screen that gave Callisto the necessary depth she needed so that she could be far more than just a villain in an overall story about evil villains turned antiheroes because Xena was never justified for her own villainy and your character took her to task for that and all of that only hit because YOU. WERE. SO. GOOD. It only worked as a narrative because you made it work. Any lesser performer would not have been able to do it.

Sure Callisto had to take the weight of her own crimes but she made sure Xena never was free of that weight at the same time and that’s why I fucking LOVE her!

“I love that girl who plays Callisto in the show. And then, the action in it is a lot of fun. The scripts are really good. There's some really cool storytelling going on. The whole lineage of the story -- the backstory of Xena's character -- is quite magnificent. And I would use the word "magnificent." There's a lot there to be had. The fact that she was an Atilla the Hun kind of killer and pillager. Years passed, Xena turns over this new leaf, but she is haunted, like Clint Eastwood in The Unforgiven -- she was haunted by her evil deeds. And I mean, they were evil, they were truly evil. She wasn't, like, kind of bad. She was an evil, murderous person. Untold numbers of dead during her reign, torture, whole races and tribes that don't exist anymore because of Xena. Now she's fighting for redemption, but she knows she doesn't deserve redemption and she will never get redemption. The only thing she can do is just do good now, on a day to day basis. But she doesn't deserve mercy. She's paying a debt she can never pay and she'll always be paying 10 cents on the dollar. That's rare for a male character. That's just good shit, that's just good indeed. And then Callisto comes back, who is a mirror image of Xena, doing the same murdering and killing with evil intentions -- but she exists only because Xena did it. It's her revenge for Xena, the fact that she created her in her hate. Callisto has every right to kill Xena, and Xena has every right in her own heart to die under Callisto's blade. But Callisto doesn't have the right to kill the innocent people she's killing. Therein lies -- I mean, that's a great conflict.” - Quentin Tarantino, Double Dare.
