There are things Findis doesn’t talk about with her half-brother. But not all rules are set in stone. Findis is not very good at embroidery, and she’s glad Feanor – the brother she greatly admires but who is usually distant— is taking time of his day to tutor her.

I now present the alternative summary to my work: ‘Something to Start With’, as commented by NortheastenWind , because I woke up this morning to the comment notification and died a little bit reading it from laughing so much and had to share it.

(for those who have no clue what I’m on about, the link and summary are under the cut!)

Something to Start With

“What is that?” Thorin follows his gaze. “Oh, that. During the fight with Azog he stabbed me through the foot from beneath the ice.” “He did what?!” Bilbo near yelps, and sure enough, now that he looks closer he can see where Azog’s blade must have pierced the top of the boot. Valar above, it had cleaved straight through. “Thorin, why in Eru’s name hasn’t this been looked at?” Thorin stares at him like he had forgotten Bilbo was an idiot. “I expect Óin had more pressing matters to attend to. Like, I suppose, the mortal stab wound in my chest.” _

Or, where some things get lost in translation, courting mishaps have the whole kingdom losing their minds, and simple acts of kindness and love can go a long way.

it’s time to harvest the fruits of this year’s @tolkienrsb! how lucky i was to collaborate with the wondrous @bodysnatch3r, who shares my love for ontological paradoxes, eldritch megafauna, and the musical power of water. 

Matty’s fic, to be revealed with the collection on Sep 6, illuminates the lives of Cuiviénen “Generation 0.″ if you’re ready to contemplate (im)mortality or cry over linguistics on this fine evening, it’s the story for you.

Elrond has his own, strange quest to embark upon before leaving Middle-earth. He has not seen his foster father in thousands of years. Though Maglor is said to wander by the sea, no one has heard any news of him in an Age.

Elrond does not seek to find or destroy any object, powerful or otherwise. What he wants is both more simple and more complex: to take his father with him, or wish him farewell. He does not know if Maglor can be found, but that will not stop him from making the attempt. The lonely shores call to him, and so does a song in the distance...
