I made one TNP OC last…but what’s a pigeon without their flock?

So, I present you with the Night Post crew of Station 32:

Sylvie Perdue (she/they): a two-year courier who helps with the admin in her office; inherited the position from a great-aunt they didn’t even know existed; sweet and generous with her time but a bit of a space case; has the worst sense of direction of any known courier and has to follow her own markers to get back down a straight road

Argent Strife (she/her): a six-year courier who ain’t afraid of no ghost; her proclaimed disdain for the supernatural has gotten into trouble on more than a few occasions, both with her boss and with her haunt; got stuck with this job in the first place as punishment for skimming from the till of her last job; butch lesbian extraordinaire with a prematurely grey undercut

Demo (they/them): a three-year member of the Night Post who deals with most of the station’s admin, supply requisitions, and, on occasion, vehicle maintenance; wears sunglasses at all times, even outside at night; has numerous piercings and tattoos, including knuckle tats that say “NITE POST”; they give a different story about how they got roped into this job every time they’re asked; for some reason, their boss staunchly refuses to give them a route

Lillianne Morris (she/her): a 60-year veteran of the Night Post; the tight-laced postmaster of this station; also, a ghost who died at her desk and then just kept working; her subordinates aren’t entirely sure if she’s aware of her own demise, but since she becomes corporeal enough on the new and full moons to keep signing their paychecks, they don’t bring it up for fear that upper management will replace her with someone worse

Hector Castillo (he/him): a six-month courier with serious regrets; took the position so his best friend, who he’d been crushing on for years, wouldn’t have to; said best friend has since accepted a cushy admin job in Gilt City and his calls have become less and less frequent; might be in a slightly better mind space if he could just get a decent day’s sleep, so if all these haunting visions of teeth in the night could just fuck off, that’d be great

Bill Harlo (he/him): 20-year custodian for the surrounding post stations; seems to favor Station 32, possibly because it’s the last station on his circuit and the pigeons don’t mind if he kicks up his feet for a smoke break when he finishes the job early; sometimes gives Sylvie a ride to her haunt if she’s having trouble figuring out which way to go

Alright, time to explain my Warrior Cats au.

TPB Changes:

• Shadefang is a young Windclan warrior who is Graystripe's equivalent of Onewhisker, but they met before TPB began. Shadefang got with Doespring, who had one little daughter named Peppernose, who accompanied Crowfeather on his journey with the traveling group.

• Scourge and Firestar knew eachother when they were young. Scourge still takes a life of Firestar, but realizes it's his brother because of the red streak on his head and red on the back of his ears. He and Firestar end up joint killing Tigerstar, and Scourge becomes a Thunderclan warrior named Frostreed.

• Medicine Cat Ravenpaw named Ravenweb.

TNP Changes:

• Hawkfrost and Peppernose join as travelers with the journeying group. Peppernose comes out of this with a secret relationship with a white rouger she-cat named Snow, and Hawkfrost comes out of this with more good relationships and friendships.

• Tawnypelt and Feathertail become a couple, and Tawnypelt has her kits with the surrogate Apple, a sandy colored rouge tom who is the brother of Snow. They end up having Flamekit, Dawnkit, and Applekit, who become Flametail, Dawnstrike, and Appleheart.

• Tallstar chooses Shadefang as Windclan's new leader instead of Onewhisker. Mudclaw still has his rebellion, but ends up getting defeated anyways. Shadestar now appoints Tornear as his deputy for siding with him even when his brother Mudclaw was leading the rebellion.

• Bramblestar takes the fall for Feathertail and ends up getting amnesia from it. His fur becomes lighter and his eyes become yellow (think Bill Cipher possession yellow), and he takes on the name Bramblepath. He and Squilf become besties, they never become mates, and Ashfur takes the blame for parentage of the three. This also ensures that he doesn't mentor Lionblaze so THANK GOD

• A rouge named Tangle seeks shelter in Thunderclan with her tiny son after her mate Stone abandonds them in a harsh storm. This is set during Leafpool's Wish, and is after Leafpool brings the three to Thunderclan. The thing is, the three are now surrogated by Crowfeather for Leafpool and Nightcloud, so they are also different as well. The three are named Jaykit, Hollykit, and Goldenkit, who grow to be Jayflight, Hollycloud, and Goldenblaze respectively. Tangle becomes a queen, then to elder, named Tanglecloud, and her son is named Dustkit, who becomes Dustbreeze.

The arc really starts with the first book in Power of Three, which is now called Power of Four. Our protagonists are Jaykit, Hollykit, Goldenkit, and Dustkit. While Dustkit may not be related to them or even be of clan cat blood at all, they still basically see him as a brother, and Tangelcloud will often let them all sleep together in her nest just so they can cuddle with Dustkit. The usual stuff of PO3 is prominent in this book, but we get changes with the new POV, more focus on Midnight the Badger playing a big part in the prophecies of this arc, and adjusted personalities and stories of our familiar protagonists.

i’ve shared this on patreon already but i’m taking a bit of a writing break this month, i’ve paused billing on patreon & i don’t plan to share any updates or snippets etc here for a bit.

i’ve restricted both Siren’s Call and The Northern Passage, and both are only available for patrons for the time being.

i’m going to be working on fixing & cleaning up some of the code throughout chapter 1 of tnp, and my plan is to publicly relaunch both demos on june 25th.

The Man Who Calls Himself "Bill Cipher"

I threw together a playlist for @yoursatanboyfriend‘s incredible fic “The Ninth Paradigm” along with some fan art of our boy Bill. I hope the songs fit!

Didn’t think I’d have to do this but I’ve got people coming to me left and right over this nonsense, conveying threats to have my work reported and pulled down blah blah blah, so let me summarize my case publicly and let you all make up your own minds. 

I’ll start by saying truthfully that I’ve never read TNP. I don’t generally read fics with non-con in them bc of bad past experiences, but from reading the prologue when researching what i supposedly plagiarized the writing seemed really good and enjoyable, with interesting themes and references. I’m sure its a lovely fic and people who enjoy it should as it stands on its own merits. 

I also haven’t plagarised anything. There is a lot of he said she said happening over that so I’ll just present the facts I have and let people make up their own minds. So far there’s just been one side of the story very loudly being told. I’ll say my piece here and people can make up their own minds. 

So I’ve never read their story. I’ve been getting some nasty harrassment though claiming I plagarised it to write my own story, which is Knowing Me, Knowing You on ao3. It’s a Billford fic, and it’s inspired by abba lyrics, Gravity Falls the series, and Journal Number 3. 

Two days ago I got this anonymous comment on my fanfic. 

This anonymous poster spammed the comments in the fic in many chapters, and also felt the need to tell everyone who regularly comments on my fic by replying to their comment how shitty my writing is and that it’s plagarising this other fic I’ve never read.

The comments rather spitefully tell me how my writing is terrible, how I’m scum, how unoriginal I am ect. I’ll let you all read it and make up your own minds about whether this is fair to say or not. 

I then decided to go speak to the author of this fic i had supposedly plagarised, because I thought it was a misunderstanding, or that a follower of theirs who was very zealous had took it upon themselves to go rogue and harass other writers who (these are the similarities as far as they’ve been explained to me) write Billford, and have written about a human Bill helping Stanford with the portal. 

Here is my conversation with the author of TNP, screenshotted, so you can read that and make up your own mind about it too. 

It was quite startling for me to have been spoken to like this when I went amicably to a fellow writer hoping to solve a situation that was groundless and unnecessary. I was called a liar, and passive aggressive for having approached the author directly with the situation seeking a resolution. 

In an ideal world I would like an apology for this behavior, but I won’t hold my breath, I’m just here to state my case and clear my name. 

This is my fanfiction. It’s 163243 words long as of it’s last update. I started writing it on the last day of January 2017, and since then it has inspired me boundlessly. I get a lot of joy out of writing it, which is clear to see when you look at how quickly I’ve been churning out these words in this small space of time. Three months have gone by and I’m on 18 chapters and it’s been wonderful to write, I’ve had some lovely reviews from folks, and these have been the first negative reviews I have seen for it. 

I asked people who have read both of the works, my own and TNP, what the similarities were that led the author to believe I had plagarised. 

What I heard as feedback was:

Character design. My human Bill is black. He’s black, with gold eyes, yellow hair, and gold binding tattoos sewn into his skin. I’ve been told their Bill is italian??? Not sure where the similarities are there. 

Dynamic between Bill and Ford (TNP apparently has Bill and Ford sharing the nicknames darling and kitten. Rest assured, through the entirety of my 160,000 word fanfic not once do my Bill or Ford ever call each other anything even remotely resembling ‘darling’ or ‘kitten’ they are more likely to call each other a pain in the ass in my fic) 

World building

Characters (mine contains plenty of Fiddleford, Wendy’s mum, who I have called Willow Oakwood bc a lumberjack falls in love with her, Lazy Susan, Keyhole and Amorphous Shape, the paradox buddies, Pyronica and Kryptos on the front lines, Argos Panoptes, Raha Diniero ect) 

Sexual content (TNP contains rape and sexual harassment, my work is a slow burn of epic proportions, they only kissed for the first time in my last chapter, and Bill is averse to being touched by Stanford at first. My work also is entirely consensual as I can’t write non-con due to personal experiences)

Key events (my story involves events such as hunting down the gobblewonker with a harpoon, nearly being devoured by the island head monster, going on a double date with lazy suzan and wendy’s mum and raising the undead, giving birth to the summerween trickster, stealing treasure from Quentin Trembley’s grave, a heist at the Cryptix Noire Warping Black Market’s, and Fiddleford’s wife Patricia telling baby Tate to stop crying) 

Writing style (My writing is more light hearted, I make lots of jokes because I want to enjoy my own story. I’m told TNP is more serious)

Direction (I do not know where TNP is going, having never read it, but I know my story is going to follow along with canon up to the betrayal, after it, following Ford through the portal, and back out for Weirdmageddon) 

Having completed four years of university studying English literature, I’m very aware of how serious plagiarism is, and how seriously allegations of plagiarism need to be taken. If someone’s poured their effort into creating a work, they deserve to be credited for that work, and if a work was created in reference to something else it’s respectful to cite your references. So here are the works I have referenced in order to create this fic. 

- Hirsch, A, 2016, Journal 3; Gravity Falls, Disney Press, LA. - Gravity Falls, complete series, 2016, DVD, Disney XD, created by Hirsch, A, et al. - Abba’s complete back catalogue. 

I’ve also referenced several Wikipedia pages; the page on black markets, on hyperpyrexia, on Leonardo Da Vinci, on stethoscopes, on Argos Panoptes in Greek Mythology, and the page listing the different planets and races in the entire Star Trek series. I’ve relied on the Gravity Falls wikia to help me maintain accuracy with character names, places, details about the Shack and so on. 

I haven’t referenced, nor have I read The Ninth Paradigm. I would have tentatively liked to from reading the synopsis, but I have decided I won’t be reading it any time soon following the conversation I had with the author of the fanfic, which has soured me somewhat from consuming their content.

I work full time, 38 hour work weeks, and run a second job on the side. Something I don’t have time for is drama. I’m quite frankly surprised I even have the time to dedicate to writing this fanfic of mine, but I do, because I love Gravity Falls, I am excited about the story I’m writing, I get to laugh at my own jokes when I’m writing, I get to entertain myself, and in posting this here, hopefully entertain others.

I’m not writing this to impress anyone with my prose or build this fic into anything more than it is, it’s just a bit of fun set to Abba lyrics, inspired by Dipper in the shower singing Disco Girl aka Dancing Queen.

If I were a younger writer, or if I were less confident in myself, this kind of harassment, both in the comments here on ao3, and the conversation I had with the author of TNP when I looked to resolve the situation, would have been incredibly damaging. If I were a younger writer, being harassed, I would find the fandom uninviting, toxic, incredibly discouraging and unhealthy.

Billford as a pairing has a small enough fandom as is, looking through the tag on tumblr, there are anti-shippers adding to that environment of harassment. Adding to that environment of harassment within the fandom can only be damaging. I believe fandoms should encourage writers and content producers, that fandom should be a community where you support one another, and the base content you all enjoyed that brought you all together.

Gravity Falls fans are smart. They followed a quirky, clever, coded show from start to finish and loved every bit of it. I’m presenting the above information here so that you can all make your own minds up about this issue. I think that’s fair.

Just finished reading chapter 15 of book 1 and have come here to say that Thunderclan (mostly Sandstorm and Icebelly) need a therapist except that I don’t think anyone at the moment is the type of cat for that. Maybe Cody from the TNP could become the clan therapist because she seems like the type who would understand the problems and worries of cats to talking to her

Yeah. So many cats in the clans need therapy. Sandstorm and Icebelly especially.

Yeah no one in the clans currently could really fit the bill and if anything if they tried it would only harm the other clans the helper cat is not part of. Psychological warfare.

Cody is a interesting idea for a therapy cat. I’m already thinking of ideas.

‘Independent’ Facebook fact-checker exposed as partisan smear factory packed with CNN alumni

Facebook fact-checker Lead Stories is a biased outfit bristling with ex-CNN staffers that presents itself as neutral, despite most of its employees having donated to the Democratic Party, a conservative outlet has revealed.

The National Pulse (TNP), whose story about supposed financial links between Black Lives Matter, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, and fundraiser ActBlue was flagged as “partly false” by Lead Stories on Facebook, did some digging on Wednesday to find out who was behind the smear, after their efforts to contest the label were apparently stonewalled.

Alan Duke didn’t want to speak, and urged me to email him to “start the appeals process”.

He then hung up.

Why should I appeal to some guy I’ve never heard of, at some website I’ve never heard of, to appeal a story that I know to be factually accurate?

What they discovered was an organization staffed almost entirely by Democratic donors, half of whom had worked for CNN in the past. A quarter of the employees were recurring Democratic donors, TNP revealed, suggesting an egregious conflict of interest, given the story they’d flagged at the conservative outlet was about contributions to a Democratic presidential campaign.

Lead Stories founder Perry Sanders has donated over $10,000 to Democratic political campaigns, including Hillary Clinton’s and Barack Obama’s presidential runs, TNP showed, providing copious links to back up the laundry list of partisan affiliations it had stumbled across. Several other writers had Democratic contributions on their records too. One, Gita Smith, was listed in 99 separate small-dollar donations to various Democratic candidates, as well as some contributions directly to ActBlue and the activism group Indivisible.

Editor-in-chief Alan Duke, who had initially rebuffed TNP’s editor’s request to have its fact-check reconsidered, spent nearly three decades with CNN as a reporter and editor, while senior editor Monte Plott spent over a decade with the Trump-loathing network. Five other names on the group’s masthead had also worked at CNN at some point.

Nor were CNN and the Democratic Party the only partisan affiliations to be found among the Lead Stories staff. Before spending 10 years with CNN, writer Jessica Ravitz – who bills herself as a “freelance journalist and storyteller” on her LinkedIn page – spent nearly four years with the Anti-Defamation League, a self-styled anti-“hate” watchdog that spends most of its considerable resources demonizing political voices that deviate from the neoliberal centrist mainstream-media line.

Whose alternative facts? Facebook consigns PragerU to ‘reduced visibility’ purgatory after challenge to polar bear myth

Lead Stories had unwittingly triggered the investigative frenzy by flagging TNP’s story titled “Black Lives Matter Website, ‘Defund the Police’ Donations Go to ‘Act Blue’, the ‘Biden for President’ Campaign’s Top Source of Donations” on Wednesday. It also overlaid it with a grayed-out “party-false information” warning screen on Facebook and included the story in the “Hoax Alert” section of its website. Ironically, the fact-checker was actually correct in this case: BLM’s donations go through, not to ActBlue, which is a payment processor for Democratic campaigns and not the ultimate source of the Biden campaign’s cash.

However, when TNP editor-in-chief Raheem Kassam corrected the headline to change “to” to “through,” he claimed Lead Stories refused to lift the “partly false” distinction, even though the new headline was factually correct and the meat of the story – that Biden’s campaign and Black Lives Matter were using the same payment processor and, thus, gave the impression of being ideological peers – hadn’t been called into question.

What has been called into question is the idea of Lead Stories as an independent fact-checker. While Facebook defended it by pointing out that Lead Stories is certified by the Poynter Institute’s International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN), such a designation is unlikely to put any doubts to rest, given that Poynter and the IFCN are supported by such bogeymen of bias as eBay billionaire Pierre Omidyar and currency speculator George Soros’s Open Society Foundations.

Not many will admit this but there are a lot people who pee in the shower.

Now we understand that this isn’t usually a topic of discussion you hear on a daily basis, but many people do gross things from time-to-time.

The ladies especially don’t want to admit to this. But you have to consider that a lot of guys are openly pretty gross too. 

That’s why this article is dedicated to a common occurrence in the shower – peeing in it.

There are a lot of benefits. Really!

Take a look at these 8 reasons why peeing in the shower is actually really useful!

1. Water bills decrease!

Whenever you pee in the shower, you could save between 1.5 to 30 gallons of water. I’s not like the stuff you scrub off of you whenever you soap or shampoo is any cleaner than what you pee.

So let loose whenever you’re in the shower. 

2. Clean as you go!

For the ladies, don’t you just hate it when you get that icky tissue feeling stuck in your privates after you wash? We thought so. Whenever you pee in the shower, while showering then you don’t really need to wipe anymore.

3. Cleaner toilets

The seat and rim of the toilet can get pretty gross especially with constant use.

Another tip for the ladies is that peeing in the shower helps reduce that “work out” time standing and squatting. Peeing freely in the shower is particularly useful for women with kids or trouble controlling their flow.

It might sound gross, but really who cares if you pee in the shower or not? 

It’s not like you’re the only person to ever think about going while showering. It makes sense to go while scrubbing down and soaping yourself. Just don’t let the haters tell you you’re gross.
