I’ve found the only miscommunication trope I like and it’s when:

Rise! Leonardo “I must play off everything as a joke,” Hamato tries to copy everything 2012! Leo does because he secretly looks up to him. But he cannot let anyone know that, so he often overdoes it and cracks jokes at 2012! Leo’s expense, which ends up making him look like he’s mocking 2012! Leo whenever he’s caught mimicking him.

While, 2012! Leonardo “the densest mf alive,” Hamato believes wholeheartedly that Rise! Leo is truly mocking him even when the excuses he gives are such blatant bullshit that literally everyone else sees through Rise! Leo BEFORE him.

So remember the scene in the movie where Miles’s parents get ‘mad’ at him for talking with Gwen, after literally being late to family events and not trying his best?

Well what if instead of that they get mad because of that as well as it looking like he's flirting with Gwen when he already has a boyfriend, Mikey!

Mikey who knows Spanish, is able too cook, and has a good family and head on his shoulders.

He uses a cloaking brooch when interacting with them.

And then they forget to tell Mikey about the interaction till they see that Miles is no longer in his room even though they grounded them.

Little time skip

During the chase scene, Miles being chased by a group of Spiders right on his tail, a portal opens up in front of him and out comes Mikey.

Next thing you know Mikey is yelling at Miles, saying that he wouldn't mind an open relationship but the fact that Miles decided to get with someone without telling him, basically cheating.

The other Spiders watch on, so confused as to why a humanoid turtle is yelling at their target, and HOLY MOLY DID THEY JUST COME OUT OF A PORTAL!!!!

I think a Mandela effect the TMNT 2012 fandom has been having lately is how long Mikey has been in Dimension X.

I’ve seen people actually claim/argue that it’s canon Mikey has said he has been in DX for YEARS when that’s not what he said.

We also have to take into consideration that the whole “Dimension X’s time is faster than Earth time” was completely retconned after this ep cause every ep after this one that takes place in DX does NOT follow this time rule. Biggest evidence is S3 ep Battle for New York when the Turtles were in DX while the Mutanimals were on Earth making a portal open for them, there times were in sync.

Now, if you wanna HC Mikey has been in DX for more than what he said, then be my guest! I ain’t gonna stop you, or tell you what you should or should not headcanon, but don’t try to claim your HC to be fact based on a nonexistent “I’ve been in here for years” line.

Dimension X Mikey dump

You know that moment in season 4 when Raph saves Mona Lisa from falling, he catches her and they end up like this:

BIG missed opportunity to do the romance trope of accidental falling into their arms, ending up on top of one another in a cute but awkward encounter.

Like if you slow down the scene before this shot, you can see that Raph is holding Mona close to him and making sure she is protected by having his shell hit the impacted of the fall. So yeah, missed opportunity to have the aftermath being Raph finding himself on top of Mona (or vice versa) from holding her close to him. Raph, after realizing how they ended up, starts awkwardly panicking, blushing like a dork, frantically asking her if she's okay and trying to remove himself from the position because it's so close and personal. Meanwhile Mona is not phased and it just happy they're both safe and unharmed, all while having more reasons to be in love with her turtle bf.
