Anyway when Tom was 6 they all went shopping and Thomas got lost in the crowd. After like 20 minutes they found him crying by a fountain and Francis had to carry him home because he would not stop clinging to his leg.

And because Francis's parenting is Actually Terrible, he was more mad at Ned for not keeping an eye on him, than he was concerned with Tom.

For weeks after that, anytime Tommy was supposed to be alone even for a bit he'd get really scared and would hold onto whoever was the closest. (Most of the time, that was Ned)

A bit of it stayed with him for pretty much forever, even though he did not remember the event much. (This is also another reason why Edward was the one to stay home while Francis and Thomas went to the Antarctic with Ross)

my sister bought me pokemon violet for christmas back when it came out (despite me saying it looked bad and I didn't want to support nintendo releasing hot garbage at full price), and I finally decided to give it a go now that it's had almost 2 years of patches, and i can't believe how bad it STILL is

it was a fresh out of the box game, so I first played it without any updates to see how it performed on release. after glitching through doors and the ground a few times for a laugh, i updated the game and was disappointed to see that very little seemed to change.

it's still easy to get stuck in doors. everything about windmills is unbearable (especially if you have to climb their stairs). shadows seem to clip in and out in a way that leaves me nostalgic for the PS2 era. the background animations and render distances are honestly embarrassing. the plot is diluted and aimless, and none of the students driving the plot lines have anything resembling appealing personalities. this might be the first mainline game that i just don't finish.

you can easily tell within 10 minutes of play that there was so much crunch around squeezing in as many new features as possible that gamefreak didn't think to optimise the base game first. don't get me wrong, some of the features are neat (eg. crafting TMs and autobattling), but the story, animations and texturing are so much worse than in any other pokemon switch game that it feels like it lost its spark.

the thing i loved about pokemon games was immersing myself the laid-back world where pokemon shape the world and coexist with people, and I just can't immerse myself in this latest game.

i guess all there is to do is wait and hope the next releases will at least be playable. id be more than happy to see releases way less frequently if it means we'll get to see finished products.
