our DL session last night was a lot of fun and incredibly silly but there was a bit in there i am going to be just a little bit haunted by indefinitely and it is this

my mic has been broken since the start of the game. i dunno what it is, but i just cannot access the prox chat mod no matter what i do. we’ve solved this by me sitting physically next to my roommate / soulmate, so i can always hear and participate in her conversations, which works really well when we’re together (and keeps me relatively entertained when i’m doing chores at our base and she’s out and about).

but i can’t talk to or hear other players when she’s not there

our server contained 12 players, half of which were red and half of which were yellow. we were on the red half, and bc my roommate hadn’t got to be red at all when we played last life, the 6 of us were running around starting fires and blowing shit up just because. we bumped into a pair of yellow names and one of us opened fire, though without starting a full fight, especially when a second yellow name pair arrived

we had a bit of a stand off which steadily turned over into being s full fight. my soulmate ran off somewhere out of voice range while i hung back with three of the other red names, out of combat zone. i looked over at the battle and lyf, one of our red names and probably one of the server’s better fighters, is too busy firing on one of the other yellow names to notice they’re being snuck up on. i have a very clear eye on rowen, one of the yellow names, as they’re creeping around the trees to get to lyf’s back just a few feet in front of me—too far to be able to get there in time, but more than close enough to say something

but my mic was broken and my soulmate was too far away, so no one could hear me say a word of warning as rowen burst through the trees to shove lyf down a ravine and to their final death.
