I’ve been seeing a lot of really cool Kirby gijinka designs so I thought I would try my hand at making some of my own. Here’s my take on gijinkas of Taranza and Susie.

THE SHAPE LANGUAGE IS INCREDIBLE

When I was a little girl boy child, I would spend hours of my days drawing my own Kirby gijinkas and comics about them, I was obsessed with them and they were one of the first ways I really learned how to draw humanoid characters.

I am now a big burley numbskull and every so often I’ll draw Kirby gijinkas when I get in the mood to, and I was in that mood! I’m very fond of these new looks for them…especially Taranza ❤️

What if Kirby characters could drive cars?

Let's just assume gijinka versions of them because otherwise most don't even have the proper anatomy to drive, LOL.

Anyways, here are my thoughts on the matter:

-Kirby is a funny case because he's shown decent motoring skills such as piloting a Robobot Armor, but he's also a literal child. So therefore, no license for him.

-Susie would be the most skilled driver in the cast, I feel. But she'd also be unhinged in the way she drives. She'd make all sorts of crazy "advanced" maneuvers that would terrify someone in her passenger seat. Basically, she has such high confidence of her driving capabilities that she's arrogant on the road. You'd think that this would lead to her easily getting into accidents, but she does have good enough reflexes and reaction time to dodge a lot of potential accidents. Not at all to say she's untouchable... she'd absolutely get into accidents on occasion, but she often gets away with her overconfidence by reacting quick enough to escape many dangerous moments. Still would be nerve wracking to be in the passenger seat with her though.

-Magolor would be good at driving as well. Probably even the second most skilled driver in the cast, but he'd get into accidents a lot more often than Susie would. Him canonically crashing the Lor Starcutter more than once makes me believe this. He'd also speed in a lot of instances where he thinks he can get away with it. Heck, I wouldn't even be surprised if he'd be mischievous enough to sometimes honk his horn with the sole intent of pissing other drivers off because he thinks it's funny.

-Marx should not be allowed to have a license. The reasons are fairly self explanatory. He'd instigate chaos in traffic and cause accidents on purpose. He'd be an absolute menace on the road. Don't let this shitfaced lunatic drive a car. I love this jester but I would not under any circumstances trust him to drive. Well, maybe I wouldn't trust a lot of others in the cast to drive, but especially Marx.

-Daroach would probably be decent at driving, but you know damn well that if you see him driving then he 100% stole the car he's using. Although I think it'd be funny if car theft is something he did pretty often. Like every time he finds a new favorite car, he then just takes it and drives off with it.

-Taranza is a strange case. His six hands would make him seem like he'd be stellar at driving, but I also imagine he's someone that's just not great at using tech appliances. Give him enough training and I think he'd be good at driving, but overall he'd be the least skilled driver out of the Wave 3 triad because the other two are just much better with tech.

Funny scenario: Taranza is in the passenger seat with either Susie or Magolor driving, and he gets nervous of their arrogant driving mentalities, despite him being less skilled than them in driving.

-I'm not sure if King Dedede would stand out as a driver. I guess he'd be alright at it? Not great but not awful. Although I imagine he'd probably just let waddle dees drive for him.

-Reminder that Meta Knight himself does not pilot the Halberd, it's his crewmates. I think they'd be better drivers than him, LOL. I think he himself might be alright in terms of driving capability, but would also notably suffer from road rage because of how easily combative he is.

-Speaking of road rage, I actually see many in the cast suffering from it. Meta Knight, Dedede, Susie, Zan and maybe Magolor would all be road ragers sometimes. I think the biggest road ragers, however, would be Flamberge and Dark Meta Knight... those two would lowkey fall under the "get out and fight the other driver" levels of road rage. I guess Meta Knight might occasionally do that too, but not as vehemently as those two.

-Would the animal friends bother driving, even in gijinka forms? I imagine ChuChu and Pitch are kids so no for them. Not sure about Nago because he seems lazy. Rick... sure, probably, albeit not often. The idea of gijinka-ified Coo and Kine piloting aerial and aquatic vehicles respectively sounds cool, but I'm not sure how likely they'd actually do that lol. Kine seems pretty air headed for that.

-Gooey driving would be the funniest thing ever. It'd obviously go very poorly but I think it'd be entertaining to watch just to see what happens. LMAO.

-Depending on if you headcanon Bandana Waddle Dee as either a child or an adult, I think he'd be a serviceable driver if the latter. But in my case, he's a kid. So no license for him.

That's... practically all my notable thoughts for this matter. What do you think?

Magolor and Taranza Gijinka

So I have been thinking about what certain Kirby characters would look like as humans recently, and have been trying to sketch it out! These are just sketches for now, but I am working on color version atm, as well as full body drawings. So for Magolor, I would imagine him to have a long sleeveless coat/vest thing with a hood, to emulate his on his little, fox/cat/owl body. I would imagine this is made out a of a heavy, but not thick material. The type that drapes very well, as he uses a belt buckle around his waist to create some shape with it. This would be a white color with gold accents on it.

The reason I picked a sleeveless one, is to show off the undershirt! I imagine Magolor to be surprisingly toned, he IS a dimensional explorer afterall, he is no pushover! But as he is a mage, he is not a muscular person. So his shirt would be a fitted one over the arms, and I put some fun gear patterns on the shoulders! I imagine this as a deeper blue (you can see the color in that weird blob in the bottom right corner bleeding through the page) with the gear being a golden yellow.

Additionally, he wears a necklace that sits just above his collar bone, with an additional chain hanging from the middle bead that has a golden star at the end!

Not pictured is I imagine Magolor goes and does field research often, collecting samples, testing spells, etc. So not only is his clothing built for adventure (pockets!), but he has on a pair of good boots! They're shorter ones, and I'm leaning towards lace up style, with more gear insignia on the back. I think halfway through the adventure with Kirby, or maybe once Kirby and co get all the Lor pieces, they return to see that Magolor swapped shirts (and to return the pieces ya know). This once is a more flowy style, that drapes on his figure compared to the fitted one from before (though in my drawing it looks skintight haha). I'm unsure if I want to keep the deep blue color, or go for a lighter blue-grey here, to signify something is off about Magolor when Kirby returns.

For his hair, at first I was imagining something half up-half down, but then I remembered that is the hairstyle I always use for Meta Knight, and that was not going to cut it. This is the part I am most iffy about, but so far I have enjoyed this messy bun! I think it pairs well with him having pretty features, and a longer nose, neck, pronounced collar bone, etc. Like even though in actuality Magolor is a round little cat guy, I enjoy picturing him as an angular pretty anime boy. Kinda a heart-throb-and-he-knows-it type. Too much of an ego on him, but well earned so you can't really bash him for it. Now for Taranza, I have less pictures, but a much more solid idea of what I want him to look like. For him I think I am staying much closer to what his in-game appearance is, but with more formality and prettiness!

(Please ignore how awkward that drawing looks, I drew his head at an angle, and it looked fine in pencil, but then I inked it without giving any weight to the lines, and then I did flat colors and now he looks quite bizarre)

So he has his cape thing, which I decided was kinda a half-shoulder cape, rather than a full body one. I felt that it matched better with the idea that he works/worked for royalty. And that is reflected in how his cape is held in place by like brooches?? Idk what you actually call the equivalent for cufflinks but for a cape, but it's there.

For the rest of his outfit, I wanted it to look like a worker at the palace's uniform, but slightly fancier, so it's a fitted, collared shirt with buttons (that get bigger in the middle to match Taranza's in game design), with a belt (idk if I like the buckle or not on it), and then slightly fitted pants. He just has some slippers for now, or maybe they could be loafers, but boy is magic and flies around when he can so why need sturdy shoes?

On the same train of thought, Taranza is not very muscular, but he is quite lithe and slender. Which is part of why the formal royal uniform suits him well I think!

His hair is basically the same as his in-game, and I imagine the general shape to match Kurapika from HunterxHunter's.

Okay so I am going to fucking implode from this but here is the Vic lore post (plus Casper bc I care him and if I'm sharing one kid I might as well share the other)

He's roughly 12-ish in the gijinka I made but I write him in a pretty wide age range from babyhood to early teens. He's a bit of a trickster like his parents, and is surprisingly good at magic for learning mostly via imitation of Marx and Magolor. He's often seen hanging around with Taranza (who he calls uncle Tanzy) whenever the Lor is on Planet Popstar. He loves to read and hopes to become a librarian or historian one day.

He's also just a little dude and about 15 in the gijinka design, similar wide age range I write him in as with Vic though. He's a big fan of wintertime and the holidays and has been wearing the world's ugliest sweaters since he was old enough to pick out his own outfits. He has regular clothes, he just doesn't wear them. He's not much of a fighter, but does like training in swordplay with Meta Knight and Kirby, and he sees it as a form of family bonding. You can usually find him helping out the waddle dees in the kitchen with whatever meal they're making that day, even if they don't request his help. He's just a fan of cooking!

Again, just a little dude I made who stuck around.

I may be cringe for having Kirby shipkids, but I am free.

More headcanons I thought of since the last one

- Prince Fluff (gijinka, I don’t think puffballs can do this) knows how to do ariel silk so he has a tendency to just fall out of trees right next to people at eye level, scaring them as he dangles

- that does mean he hangs around with Taranza quite a bit.

-After the events of epic yarn, Fluff trained himself to properly use his whip to the point where fighting him is actually scary. He also uses it to grab things he needs, wether it be on the top shelf or just out of hands reach. He uses it so often that he’s able to grab a full cup without it spilling, very spiderman like.

-DDD is stupid good at rhythm games, mostly taiko no tatsujin; Meta enjoys shoot/beat ‘em ups and bullet hells; Kirby mainly plays puzzle games and platformers

-None of the main 4 Meta-Knights are cis. There is no way.

-The only plant that Kirby can keep alive are (maxim) tomato plants, he has tried branching out. It does not work.

-Morpho Knight makes their own teas, most are floral.

- Meta can’t drive. Legally or physically. Don’t let him drive anything, he is impatient and will always speed and crash. No, he can’t drive the Halberd either, that’s what Axe Knight is for

- All the star allies have a star somewhere on their uniforms/armor/clothing, very Steven Universe/crystal gem like, I thought it’d be cool

- DDD was definitely the type to make bad interior design decisions. Like, he would put a shirt on a hanger and put it on the wall or paint his walls that one bright aqua color that every kid painted their walls and/or have an eyesore of a wallpaper. Thank Nova for the dees.

Also, all the star allies, and just most of Kirby’s friends, are close with one another and will often train and spar together. This not only gives me the excuse to pair up random characters to do mundane stuff like shopping and hanging out, but also let’s me make random scenarios for the on and off battlefield:

- going back to Fluff, he typically tries to get his opponent’s weapons out of their hand, if they don’t have a weapon, oh well.

- Fluff also figured out that he could grab and throw people, this ended up in him accidentally grabbing Meta Knight’s leg as he was in the air and slamming him on the ground. There was already quite a crowd, so the silence was deafening. (Meta recovered quick and was very impressed).

- DDD found out that hitting the ground hard enough will disorientate people, he uses it frequently

- Ribbon is one to rush, making quick, fast, up-close movements

- Taranza lays webs everywhere he can, one wrong step and you’re wrapped up like a present

- Ribbon vs Susie = cowboy standoff

- Marx just tries to scare people out of bounds, he has no plans

- The animal friends and the mage sisters just enjoy having like 8 people on the field

- Bandana dee and Fluff like to play sandbox and simulator games (think slime rancher, stardew valley, job simulator, the sims, etc.) it’s very calming.

- Those born/made in the mirror and yarn dimensions don’t feel pain as strongly as others, especially out of their own dimensions. This does mean Fluff and Dark Meta have, on multiple occasions, have worked themselves to exhaustion, but they’re never by themselves when they get too tired, as stubborn as they both are that they don’t need help.

 - Parasol, Sailor, and Bandana dee are all identical triplets, only in looks though, personality wise, very few similarities.

- When Dreamland was no longer yarn, Fluff hated the way grass and water felt. On the other hand, gooey, dark matter swordsman, 0, 02, etc, love the way grass feels

- Sailor dee is very good at sewing, if anyone on the Halberd has a tear in their clothes or wants something made, they go to Sailor. None of them know how to buy formal wear, Sailor makes all of it. Spear Knights likes to help.

- Queen Ripple, Prince Fluff, and DDD like to hang out. They don’t act all royally, they already do that all day, what usually happens is they get take out, crash on the couch of whoever’s castle is closest and gossip

- Gooey, Parasol Dee, and Nago sun bathe and nap together.

- Flamberge and Dark Meta are good at death metal screams, neither of them even listen to any genre of metal.

- Meta Knight is still in contact with Sword and Blade Knight, he makes sure to invite them whenever a big event is going on

Hey! Love your Taranza gijinka! The idea of him having a mouth on the back of his head and luring 'em in with a 'false face' is so cool and unique to me! Were you inspired by the Futakuchi-onna? or was it something you came up with along the way?

Either way, I can image some sick horror stuff with this guy given the fact that he is a spider and you mentioning that he turn his head at an unnatural degree!

anyway, good guess because he is very much like the futakuchi-onna, isn't he? but no, taranza's anatomy and various abilities in my hands spring entirely from the fact that he's a (rather rare) species of carnivorous sky fairy. the sky fairies as a whole are a species of plant people, so taranza being a "spider" is yet another layer of the deception! everything about him was built from the basis of "carnivorous plant" and "spider mimic" (specifically, the redknee tarantula, since that seems to be the spider taranza's design was inspired from).

anyway, you are very correct to imagine all sorts of cool body horror stuff happening with taranza x) his venom is actually one of the least of his weapons, being a tarantula mimic and all. his venom tends to cause hallucinations and moderate-to-high pain, but by and large isn't deadly.

i think my gijinka who has the most inspiration from japanese culture is zero, but in his case the inspiration definitely draws from general shinto beliefs and customs rather than a specific youkai or spirit. his outfit is also, obviously, extremely japanese, including a certain extremely on-the-nose visual easter egg x)

besides the ethically wrongness of it it genuinely confuses me so much. for characters like kirby and dedede and the rest it can be hard coming up with a good skin tone! choosing colors can be complicated, I know! it’s why I see a lot of people giving up and just making kirby’s skin the regular cotton-candy pink

but magolor and taranza already HAVE a skin tone. brown is a skin tone. PLUS it’s designed to go with their existing color palettes already - making them white adds a new element to the design that makes it feel almost too busy, it’s hard to pull off, and they already GAVE you the color they would be?? why’d you do this to yourself, yknow?

Mod Susie: Dark Sectonia is the exact reverse of Sectonia... and she’s alive. Basically the corruption in the mirror was the result of both queens influencing each other in the opposite way - so Dark Sectonia is very depressed and doesn’t maintain her scary wasp form anymore.

Mod Taranza: lots of sad and depressing ones. Kirby’s mental state a fair bit before and during Star Allies, What Void remembers of his past, Meta Knight’s past, Marx past, etc. But I have fun stuff too. Taranza’s species biology, Gooey’s existence, Queen Ripple being a Mom.... Gay Bugs....Did you know that Gryll and Marx met in Kindergarten and were friends ever since even after MMW? Please ask us for more stuff like this.

Mod Galacta: Keep in mind this is for gijinkas please During Revenge of Meta Knight not everyone was able to get out in time before the Halberd started to totally collapse in on itself due to the damage. Sailor specifically ended up getting trapped a piece of burning scrap. Luckily they were saved but had bad burns and had to amputate their leg as a result. On the plus side Sailor got a very cool custom prosthetic leg that they’ve gotten pretty good throwing at particularly annoying crew members-

Bandana Moddle Dee: Axe Knight and Javelin Knight are both very mischievous and act almost as partners in crime. Sailor is one of the more common targets for pranks because both Trident and Mace would beat their ass if they tried anything.

Mod Morpho: Morpho Knight, Zero2, and Queen Ripple are BFFs and form a super chaotic trio that hosts sleepovers!!!

Mod Ribbon: Being a warrior culture, traditional puffball formalwear is a form of ceremonial armour. This tends to include gauntlets, pauldrons, sabatons, embroidered cloaks, fancy headdresses and the like - typically commissioned by a specialty metalsmith and decorated with precious metal filigree, crystals, gemstones, flowers, feathers, and so on! Masks also play a role similar to that of a bride’s veil, obscuring the spouse’s face until the appropriate time comes.

Mod Skirby: Just after Susie returned and became Haltmann’s secretary, he often cried at random despite not feeling sad. This strange occurrence stopped after a month or two and he never questioned why this happened.

Mmm let's see...

I don't think they started right away dating (you can hear Magolor cringe from the distance), even when they were very much aware of the mutual feeling, but certain things just. Couldn't let them.

How frustrating, Susie reminded him so much of a certain someone, and that's probably why he was interesed, is that selfish?

Susie wasn't really good dealing with other people on a genuine way, but she sure as the stars learned to be patient (hey! She has good personality qualities!)

Though despite everything they always had so much fun together, Susie is the positive spiciness that Taranza needed, getting him into things (and shenanigans (along with Magolor too haha)) that he never thought; even complicated things such as science and machines sounded so beautiful with her passion.

Taranza is a good anchor to Susie about the world (and galaxies) that surround her, teaching her how to care for the living, letting her see from afar and respect the natura cycles, how fun is it to be covered in dirt, and how just two people can create a for the sake of it, just to see the sun go down with the petals be taken by the breeze, remembering they can alwasy comeback and see the sun rise along the blooming flowers; as long as they both take care of it (only if Susie wants to)

Of course she does.

-On more silly things I think Taranza loves her sing, and she loves his cook, for some reason I think of a specific kind of cream soup (also sweets of course).

-Susie was the one who fought feelings first and she always wanted to be seen as cool by him (he was slightly frigtered but indeed thought it was cool)

-She also always gave him wacky gadgets, guess that's how she flirts

-She loves messing with his hair

-(gijinka but maybe this can also apply to orb?) Don't tell anyone but he loves that she's considerably taller

-He teaches her how to make her own outfits, she also finds his taste in fashion interesting, widely different, but admits that he knows what he's doing

Susie always reminded him that she's not Sectonia, and when he finally understood, he felt the most relief

They probably discuss if Taranza should throw away his cape, but at the end decide that is okay to keep.
