honestly its funny when really long standing fandom is starved of new content, because people start dissecting the source material in really specific ways. not in analytic way, because that was done long ago, but like in "desperately using microscope to try find very last scraps of meat" kind of way.

early on in their knowing each other, the Lor personally assigned himself to repair duty because NOVA is too depressed "lazy" to do it himself

recently, he changed out all of NOVA's ruby joints for new ones made from the crystals in Another Dimension. he thinks they look lovely.

a totally unnecessary but Really Cool thing they did in the remake was they added a fuckin flashbang effect to certain boss attacks. complete with deafening the soundtrack and high-pitched ringing. that's so extra and i love it

​not at all, specbio is one of my all-time favourite bits of headcanon funtimes!

everything about magolor/halcandrans' biology in general is actually lore that my partner @heartofnova wrote, but i'll sum it up for you.

halcandrans - be they ancient like hyness or modern like magolor - are essentially energy creatures mimicking real organic animals. they have a layer of "skin" and their internal magic, which is black and the same texture as smoke or mist. they're completely empty otherwise - no organs or skeleton or internals at all.

the ancients bioengineered themselves into this state far, far in the past - before they were even known as "the ancients". the end goal presumably was to modify themselves into pure energy beings, but they were sadly interrupted by the whole total collapse of their society thing. the ancients that survived slowly became modern halcandrans, magolor's people.

because they didn't get all the way into becoming pure energy beings, their skin is essential for keeping their internal magic together and keeping them whole. because of this, halcandrans have extremely soft and flexible bodies - they're basically balloons. they're almost immune to crushing damage because of this; as long as whatever is crushing them isn't large enough to literally pop them, a halcandran can survive having body parts almost completely flattened.

(it won't be pleasant, but they'll live.)

on the other hand, this is why piercing and cutting damage is so wildly dangerous: it lets the magic out. and since their magic is gaseous, not liquid like our blood, it escapes really quickly. you can survive losing some, but it's a rapidly escalating problem and can tip past the point of fatality FAST. once a halcandran loses too much magic, they shatter. they don't leave corpses.

hence the compression suits!
