The more I reread Throne of Glass, the more I understand less and less why people are such strong Aedion and Chaol haters. I get that they have moments where they are unkind, but honestly the way people are constantly mad at them for reacting poorly to being manipulated and not even the least bit concerned about the fact that they were BEING MANIPULATED really irks me. So yes, I am a Chaol and Aedion apologist and I am not in the least bit sorry about it. Tower of Dawn is one of my favorites in the entire series, and I enjoy almost every moment that involves Aedion. They are both complex and fleshed out characters that deserve appreciation!

I hate them so much bc they deserve so much better but they will always be doomed and that's what makes them perfect. ESPECIALLY when if you change one thing, just a small thing they wouldn't be doomed because that just means it wasn't fate that doomed them but themselves

On the real, were i not so sleep deprived, i have a great many thoughts and pained feelings about them, their bond, the potential of their story, the way they speak to each other. I'd like to dive deeply into it. I haven't the faintest if anything I've written already carries a vague sense of coherency. Another day, perhaps.

For now. Someone commiserate with me in regards to these gith men, their common goal, the bond they share, and gods know how long they've known each other. They speak as friends. Was voss there the day orpheus was chained? Was voss there and forced to turn traitor? Only to spend eons awaiting his chance to make things right? Was voss there to watch vlaakith subjugate orpheus, knowing he had no power over either? Hopelessly watching? Horrified by what he could not prevent? Eons he's spent seeking ways to free orpheus. Eons. Hiding, lying, mapping his plans in the skies, waiting. How many millennia until he's free again?

Will he remember me?

Will he know i fought for him?

Will he know i would have stopped her had i the power?

Will he know the heights of heresy I've arranged from the depths of our bond?

it’s ironic that the first 100 and the last 100 pages are the worst in chain of thorns. I don’t really care to know how much Cordelia, grace, and James all pity themselves. and I will never forgive CC for rushing a beloved characters death and writing it the way she did. there was no need (I can’t even talk about it, it makes me sad) to kill off literally another member of that family 😤

everything is so rushed because CC decided we really needed to waste half a book of characters feeling pity and not talking to each other. I get despair but it was way overdone. the only good parts about both these sections and this book is thomastair. I’m enduring for them and for my fav family WHO DESERVED BETTER

seriously if she (and let’s not give her so much credit) would have focused on more in the first two installments, and not wasted pages, the wait could’ve paid off. but it’s CC, so you know you can’t expect anything competent out of her lmao

and I’ll never forget or forgive the fact that Gabriel and Cecily aren’t even there to grieve, or that Cordelia is the one who rids of Tatiana. it still doesn’t make sense and it never will. sooooooooo many wasted opportunities 🙃

Sasuke and Itachi stuck in a limbo like Naruto and Sasuke after their final battle. They both pour their hearts out to each other. Itachi lets Sasuke know how much he was hurting leaving Sasuke alone and having to make him go through hell. Adult Itachi's soul comforts little Sauske from afar. He watches over him. His guilt doesn't let his shadow fall on Sasuke because Itachi believes he isn't good enough to be close to his little brother.

And teen Sasuke pouring his feelings out to Itachi how hard it was for him to hate his brother. How every day without him was nothing but a world jumbled and distorted into something he didn't understand, so to make the world make sense he clung to his hatred. And hating hurt even more.

Sasuke helping Itachi forgive himself, telling him he deserves it. They're dead and they don't have to take the burden anymore.

Sasuke is free from the burden of being the last surviving Uchiha and Itachi is free from the burden of crimes he was forced into.

Little Sasuke comforts his brother because he knows Itachi is suffering. That's the only thing he can do.
