This is desperate to try get in touch but I’m pretending you’re gonna read this. I know you’re not reading your texts. Or maybe you blocked me. I don’t even know. I keep leaving voicemails and even insta messages, but nothing. Send up a flare that you’re still ok? Please?

Ever since we met you’ve been the person I trusted with asking any career questions to. I should have listened to you more about the McLaren stuff, but yeah. You’re the most important person in my life and the one I think about when I’m making decisions, but this time you’re not here to say it to. So I want to at least tell you.

I’m retiring at the end of the season. I checked my contract to see if I could go at the summer break but I can’t. So Abu Dhabi’s gonna be my last race. It’s…it’s not fun anymore. Every race is a slog and even tracks I love make me want to go insane. Miami was hell and last weekend felt like the worst time ever. I never thought I’d hate racing in Barcelona. I’ve given this sport everything I can give it and it’s taken more than that and it’s too much. You made me realise that.

I missed too many moments with family and friends, I missed births and deaths and weddings and funerals. You know that better than anyone. This sport meant I couldn’t be with you when you needed me and then I lost you. Its taken absolutely everything and I can’t let it take anything else. There’s nothing else really. It took you. The love of my life and the most important person in my world, and I let you slip through my fingers because of this. So it’s it.

Its not worth the pain anymore. It’s not worth the frustration it’s causing. And it’s never, ever been worth the pain it caused you. That’s the biggest regret I have about all of this, that it hurt you so badly. Plus I can’t do this without you beside me. I’ve no idea how I did it for so many years when you weren’t there but now I just can’t. I can’t do it and I don’t want to learn how to either.

That’s the first part of the plan. I had to tell you first. After Monaco I’m gonna tell Mike and Blake, and then when I tell my parents that you’re gone I’ll tell them then. Don’t blame Michael, he can’t tell them and I figured it deserved more than through FaceTime so I’m flying down. Then during the summer I’ll announce it. Do a video or something.

Then once that’s done I need to find you. I don’t blame you for leaving, Emmy. I can’t blame you because if I was in your shoes I’d have done the exact same thing. I just miss you so fucking much. I miss you every single second of every single day and I don’t know what to do anymore. I don’t know how to stop loving you and even if I did I don’t want to. I want us together, Baby girl. I want to have that life we talked about.

Remember that night in Austin? That girl kept trying to flirt with me and wouldn’t take no for an answer, and then I kissed you in front of her and she finally left? And that night when we were going to sleep you said that you thought Austin would be a place that it’d be nice to show our kids one day. I want that so much it hurts. You were half asleep and so innocent and I realised that’s what I wanted too. I never wanted it before I met you because I never thought settling down was worth it. But it’s not settling with you.

I want you to fight me about finding an apartment in the budget you want, and me to tell you I’m paying because I earn a disgusting amount of money. I want to argue about groceries and who pays which bills and wake up with you in the morning. I want those baths where it’s just us and the world fades away. Falling into your coffee table and the bruises appearing on my shins again. I want all of it. I’m so sorry that I didn’t make you realise that I want you. You’re it for me, Emmy. Nobody else comes close to you.

I want to hold you and tell you that I love you so much. It’s no y’know, right, it’s no pretending. No claiming it’s not romantic. I love you and I want to get to hold your hand in public and tell the world. Say it every single day. I’m so, so sorry for everything that happened between us. Everything I said, everything I did. yes a deep cut. a fucking hetalia fic, in 2022?? but i do sorta love how this one came out. it is, to me, a love letter to the first fandom i was ever part of and the first fandom i wrote fic for, a decade later.

Yao knew Alfred was a little tipsy from how easily he had said it. Hiding a dagger in a smile. He pondered whether it was an idiom Al had learned from a language book or if he had read it in the Thirty-Six Stratagems some fifty years ago, waiting for Henry Kissinger and Zhou Enlai outside a meeting room.

i think this is my fave of the bloodweave fics i've done just because it gets to the crux of what i find interesting about their dynamic

Some part of Gale was always aware that the magical trinkets he fed to the the Netherese orb buried his chest were only a temporary appeasement. He's always spaced out the feedings as long as he could bear, praying that he wasn't making it stronger-- though of course, over time, it was inevitable that he was. It would only grow hungrier as it consumed each little taste of the Weave. Some part of Gale knows what it pulls him to consume instead. He just doesn't want to accept it.

that is a joke. i speak in jest. this fic has taken me almost a year to write. it was requested of me in july of 2022 and its currently april 2023. i want to give my highest regards ever to the most lovely and patient human being in this world miss ame. your kind words through updates kept me pushing through the very end and i hope this fic is everything you could want

ok. onto the talking about it stuff.

this fic is pretty dark all things considered. though my scale for that is kind of fucked and since this is my tumblr audience - you people are well-aware it gets bad but its... still pretty graphic. there is a lot of truly henious shit in here and its in the perspective of that guy.

tldr ; don't read if you think it will give you the heebie jeebies. u are not obligated and i am not your mother nor am i a public executioner. if this is the one fic u skip out on no hard feelings at all. i mean this.

this fic is one of Those Fics where writing it did something to my brain. i have never, ever in my entire writing career been so challenged by a single project. every single element of this fic has been run through a million things. the last time this happened was my big deku fic but that fic rlly feels like a cakewalk in comparison.

all that to say, because it has simply been seeing my eyes only for months with no input from anyone else - i have no idea how anything worked out. no beta no meds just balls to the wall insanity. i can only measure my own work so much and i have bar zero expectations for this fic just to save myself some sanity.

i ask very kindly that if it sucks u just dont tell me. and if it doesn't and u want to be nice that'd be cool too. but know that a lot of my heart and soul went into this and i hope in the very least - you are able to discern that in its makeup.

a lot of the stuff ive worked into here is related like. to plot and motif and actual development. the dog motif is a huge part of the story as is the religious imagery. i want this fic to feel like a fall from grace in a sense. it is a character study as much as its anything else. where there's always something wrong and one day everything goes to shit. i think gojo is that kind of sicko.

i also do like. love gojo so much. this fic is written with nothing but adoration for him in mind.

i dont have much to add (said after this absolutely disgusting wall of text) because my tumblr homies r very aware of what shit im up to and this fic is not a surprise to anyone.

Stef W. Kight and Zachary Basu of Axios reported tonight that the border measure, on which a bipartisan group of senators have worked for four months, is “on life support” after former president Trump urged his supporters in the House to block it so he can run on the issue. Senators are still holding out hope they can get it through, blaming “misinformation” about the bill, whose text has not yet been released. 

The attacks on the measure are revealing the increasing extremism of the Republican Party. Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) appointed Senator James Lankford (R-OK), who is well liked and is known as a calm conservative, to lead negotiations for the party. Suddenly, Lankford finds himself on the side Trump and his followers oppose. Lankford is now under attack from within his own party. 

The Republican about-face is also threatening to take down U.S. aid to Ukraine, which is fighting off a Russian invasion. House speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) linked aid to Ukraine to the border deal last November with the argument that the U.S. should not be helping other countries until it helped secure its own border. After Trump’s attack on the border measure, congressional reporter Max Cohen of Punchbowl News reported this afternoon that McConnell has suggested moving ahead with aid for Ukraine. 

"It's time to move something,” Cohen reported McConnell saying, “hopefully including a border agreement. But we need to get help to Israel and Ukraine quickly…. There is bipartisan support here in the Senate for both Israel and Ukraine, hopefully at some point we can get them the support they need."

Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) told reporters: “It would be nice to change the status quo on the border, but if there is not the political support to do that, then I think we should proceed with the rest of the supplemental,” referring to the measure that provides funding for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, and humanitarian aid to Gaza.  

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), a Trump loyalist, has said she would move to overthrow Johnson as speaker if he puts Ukraine funding up for a vote. 

Meanwhile, Ukraine is running short of weapons and ammunition.

Tonight, Senator Angus King (I-ME) spoke on the Senate floor about what U.S. refusal to aid Ukraine would mean. 

King harked back to the failure of European allies to stop Hitler when it would have been relatively easy. “Whenever people write to my office” asking why we are supporting Ukraine, he said, “I answer, Google Sudetenland, 1938.” “We could have stopped a murderous dictator who was bent on geographic expansion…at a relatively low cost. The result of not doing so was 55 million deaths.”

The upcoming vote on whether to support “the people of Ukraine as they fight for our values,” King said, “will echo throughout the history of this country and the history of the world for generations…. If we back away, walk away, pull out and leave the Ukrainians without the resources to defend themselves, it will compromise the interests of this country for 50 years. It will be viewed as one of the greatest geopolitical mistakes of the 21st century.”

Abandoning Ukraine would embolden Russian president Vladimir Putin, King said. Putin “told us in 2005 that he felt that the greatest catastrophe of the 20th century was the dissolution of the Soviet Union. He has…pursued the remedy to that catastrophe in his eyes ever since…. In 2008 he gobbled up part of what had been an independent country of Georgia. In 2014…Crimea and eastern Ukraine. [In] 2022, he tried for the rest of Ukraine.”

People say Putin will stop with Ukraine, King said, but “the Finns don't think so. The Swedes don't think so. The Baltic countries don't think so, and the Finns and the Swedes know Russia.”

“Maya Angelou once said if someone tells you who they are, you should believe them,” King said. “Putin has told us who he is. He’s an autocrat. He’s an authoritarian. And he wants to rebuild the Soviet Union. And I believe he wouldn't stop there….  We have to take him at his word…. He despises the west. He thinks NATO is an aggressive alliance, somehow designed to invade or otherwise threaten Russia. NATO doesn't want to invade Russia. NATO wants to keep the lines where they are.” King noted that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was “the first crossing of a border of this nature since World War II.”

“[W]hat we're looking at here,” King said, “is…the struggle between the idea of democracy and the rule of law and authoritarianism and totalitarianism…. Ukraine is the opening wedge in that…conflict.” Turning away from Ukraine would embolden Putin, King said, but not only Putin. “[I]f we cut and run in Ukraine, that will change Xi Jinping's calculus about Taiwan. He's going to say well, the Americans aren't going to stick. We don't have to worry too much about them helping the Taiwanese defend themselves.” 

King, who sits on the Senate Intelligence Committee, identified the centerpiece of U.S. foreign policy and warned what is at stake if the U.S. abandons Ukraine. “Our asymmetric advantage in the world right now is allies,” King said. “China has customers. We have allies…. But our allies are going to say well, wait a minute. You’re with us now but when the going gets tough and you have to maybe have a budget supplemental to stick with us, you're going to walk away. It's going to undermine the confidence of our allies, and in places like Japan and South Korea, they may say we can't count on the Americans to defend us.”

If we abandon Ukraine, he said, we will have destroyed “our ability to negotiate and make deals in the future. Who the heck is going to deal with us if they know we can't be trusted?.... What an…incredible…self-inflicted wound on this country.” King recalled that in the 1780s, France had stood with the fledgling U.S. even as the Revolutionary War dragged on, and noted that “[t]here’s a reasonable chance we wouldn't be the United States of America today, if our ally had walked away…. The whole idea of an alliance is that you can count on somebody when the times are tough. We're sending ammunition. They're sending lives.” 

Addressing right-wing talking points about aid to Ukraine, King said that U.S. aid to Ukraine is “one of the best and strongest and most closely accounted for provisions of aid ever” and that “the idea that nobody else is contributing and Europe isn't doing its part is just bunk.” Europe has given far more to Ukraine than the U.S. as a percentage of the wealth each country produces, he said, and other countries have also taken in millions of refugees.

“[D]emocracy matters,” King said. “Values matter. Freedom of expression, the rule of law matter, and that’s what’s at stake…. This is a historic struggle between authoritarianism, arbitrariness, surveillance, and the radical idea that people can govern themselves. That's what this is all about. This is a battle for the soul of our democracy in the world…. It's worth fighting for. And in this case we don't even have to do the fighting. We just have to supply the arms and ammunition.”

“I have a question for my colleagues,” King said. “When the history of this day is written, as it surely will be, do you really want to be recorded as being on the side of Vladimir Putin?... Or on the side of China, as they contemplate the invasion of Taiwan…. [H]istory's going to record this vote as one of the most important votes that any of us have ever made.”

For his part, King said, “I want to stand on the side of resisting authoritarianism, on the side of democracy, on the side of the values that the country has stood for and that people have been fighting for 250 years.”

Just a quick ramble, Im pro-endo and mixed origins before anyone comes for my throat

Sidesystems and system hopping are STOLEN terms from ramcoa* systems (*if ur a traumagenic system/in a very bad mental state, pls only look that up with caution)

Side systems means a seperate system of completely programmed alters, system hopping meant an alter from the/a subsys, sidesys or mainsys "hopped" to a subsys, sidesys or to the mainsys.

Actually, lots of terms were stolen from ramcoa systems, and it irritates me to no end seeing uneducated people try and dismiss that yes, system hopping is real, no it does not mean going from one persons system to another completely different persons system

Are there actually any sources for this? I've tried googling it before, and the very earliest I could find any reference to system hopping in reference to plurality was 2015, which was referencing travel between separate systems.

We've similarly had zero luck trying to find references to side systems before 2020 (when the current definition of the term was coined.)

We tried searching for variations like "side systems" and "sidesystem" but haven't gotten any better results.

I also tried searching for '"side system" ramcoa" through different years. There was nothing that mentioned this before 2019, or 2020, or 2021. When I finally broadened this search to 2022, the only result I got was this...

I don't know if this was the first time this claim was ever made since not everything appears on Google. But this IS the oldest post Google shows with RAMCOA and "side system" being used together.

Without any evidence, I'm inclined to believe that the myth of these terms being stolen was created by anti-endos if not r/systemscringe itself. Accusing words of being stolen from survivors of horrible abuse makes a nice talking point to smear people they don't like, but I don't think it has any basis in reality.

It’s MY blog – and MY birthday – and I get to talk about the latest Pokemon release over a month after it came out because I want to!!!

Spoilers for the game! Also not bothered to proofread lol

Ok so I’m gonna start off with the stuff I didn’t like very much. Gonna try keep it brief because I otherwise really enjoy the game and a lot of my takes are common in the fandom

I have seen CGI from 2002 power rangers specials that look better than this game

Frame rate is crunchier than gravel sometimes

Honestly,it’s embarrassing that a game from 2022 looks and runs this badly

Especially since PLA released earlier that year, and while not perfect, it ran much better

SV definitely needed an extra year or two in the oven

I hate how most houses can’t be entered and that most shops are menus

Wish you could pet your mons again, not just wash them

WHY IS PUTTING BREAD ON A SANDWICH SO DIFFICULT

In the options at the start of the game where you’re asked by someone (might be Nemona, can’t remember) what dream you have, why can’t you answer with ‘be a trophy spouse for a hot champion’?!

Steven should cameo in this game (I will NOT debate this)

Really miss the catching mechanic from PLA, woulda worked amazing here

I love that Pokemon is going in a more genderfluid direction when it comes to character customization (and NPCs too)

But I wish there was a skirt option for the unifotms (and not just for the f! mc, for everyone!)

Also the uniforms are so ugly… please let us change out of em soon gamegreak!

“Why are you three in my room?” The question sounded more like a sentence to Isabela, Camilo, and Mirabel.

“We wanted to see our favorite prima/hermana!”

Dolores squints her eyes at the trio. “I heard you three planning something for Tía Julieta. A feast, was it?”

“The feast was my idea.” Mirabel steps on Camilo’s foot. “What the hell?”

Dolores smiles and approaches them, “That’s sweet. I want to help too!” Mirabel and Isabela high-five. “The more the merrier!”

“I’m not sure why you two would include him, though,” Dolores gestures to Camilo, “I don’t trust him around the kitchen. Barely any help.”

Camilo furrows his eyebrows. “I’m right here?” Dolores laughs. “Sorry! Didn’t notice.” Camilo rolls his eyes. “Let’s ask Luisa, at least she’s kinder than some people.” He glares at Dolores, who just smiles at him.

“Antonio’s playing with the other kids in the plaza, so he can’t join. Plus, Camilo and Mirabel are in the kitchen so it’s automatically unsafe-”

“Me too?! / I can cook!”

Isabela and Dolores look up and down at their younger siblings, then nod at each other. “Mirabel,” Dolores talks first, “you and Camilo are just... full of energy. Sometimes it’s fun, but in the kitchen it’s... unsafe.” She turns to Isabela, who holds Camilo by the shoulders.

“Sure you can, buddy. It’s nice to see a young dreamer like you.”

Camilo and Mirabel talk over each other while Isabela and Dolores make their way to Luisa’s room.

“Could you believe those two?! Insulting us to our faces like that?” Mirabel nods. “You know what we should do? We should start cooking by ourselves!” Camilo beams at his cousin. “You’re right! You are absolutely right! This is why you’re my favorite cousin.” Mirabel smiles. “What a coincidence! The worst Madrigal cook is my favorite cousin too!”

“What?”

“Nothing! We’re going to the kitchen!”

“What are we going to cook?” Mirabel turns to Camilo, who was rummaging through the cabinets for leftover snacks.

“If you want to help could you try and look for mom’s cookbooks? There could be recipes that we both can do.” Camilo puts a thumb up, his mouth busy eating an empanada. He looks for the nearest book in the kitchen and hands it to Mirabel. “Are we going to cook a bunch of snacks or..? A few meals too?”

Mirabel ponders for a moment. “Both? Hang on, what time is it?”

“Like... I don’t know? Almost 5 PM?”

Camilo and Mirabel look at each other with excitement. “We should make dinner for the whole family!”

“They plan on cooking for the whole family.” Dolores calmly says while she waters the cacti in Isabela’s room. “You know I could just grow a new one, right?” Isabela says. “It’s fun watering the plants. Calming.” Luisa nods in agreement.

“You don’t think they need help cooking, do they?” Dolores answers Luisa, “I’ll see what I can hear.” The three stay quiet for a while. “They’re browsing Tía’s cookbooks. Camilo’s making the snacks and helps Mirabel prepare for the dishes.”

Isabela grabs the watering can from Dolores. “You will tell us if they need help, won’t you?” Dolores replies with a smile.

“She’s going to let them burn casita.” Luisa raises an eyebrow at her sister, “Trust them a little, will you? I’m sure they won’t and we’ll all be eating a decent meal later with the whole family.”

“You are surprisingly good at this.” Camilo smiles as he gets the tray of empanadas from the oven. “I know! And to think you doubted my cooking skills. Here,” Camilo places an empanada on a plate, “taste this delicious empanada made by yours truly!”

Mirabel looks at the food, then at him and jokes, “If I die, I’m blaming you,” before taking a bite. Her face of excitement immediately turning into one of disgust. “What did you put in here?”

“Anything that smelled good.”

Mirabel quickly drinks a glass of water. “You didn’t think to put a limit on that?!” Camilo shrugs. “Guess I didn’t. Also, you talk as if I made the world’s most horrible empanada! I’m sure it isn’t that bad.” He grabs another empanada for him to eat and Mirabel watches him with an evil look on her face.

“So? Don’t lie.”

Camilo forcibly swallows the bite he took. “Great!”

“LIAR! Wasn’t there a recipe for you to follow in the book?” Camilo forces a smile to lighten the situation. “I thought it was optional..? Like, a base guide of sorts.”

“What?! Dios, I hate wasting food but that whole batch you made needs to go.”

“I think they need our help.”

Luisa and Isabela immediately turn to Dolores. “What happened?!”

“Camilo.”

The two looked at each other and nodded. “Called it. You owe me 50 pesos.” Luisa rolls her eyes. “It’s what you get for thinking he could cook.”

“You two had a bet and didn’t include me?” Dolores frowns. “We thought it’d be unfair since you’d be the first to know what happened... sorry.” Luisa replies. “Are we... going to help them?”

The eldest Madrigals hesitate before answering. “I want to say ‘no’ but...” Isabela sighs, “we’ll all get punished if something bad happened to them and/or the casita. Remember when Camilo put Mirabel’s glasses in cement and they both got stuck?” The three shudder at the memory.

Dolores’s eyes widen, “Yeah, we’re definitely helping them.”

The three make their way to the kitchen and run into their Abuela.

“Hola, abuela!” Abuela notices the worried looks on their faces, “Is something the matter?”

Isabela shakes her head. “Nothing’s wrong! Everything’s fine! We just remembered that we have, like, 2 hours before dinner and wanted to cook for the whole family since Mama’s not feeling well!”

Abuela’s heart swells with pride as she smiles at her three granddaughters. “Todos ustedes crecen tan rápido. I’m so proud of you all.” (You all grow up so fast.)

“Gracias, abuela.” They all smile in comfortable silence.

“Ah, look at me! I mustn’t keep you three from your cooking. Go!” Abuela laughs, “I’ll be in my room if you need me.” Isabela, Dolores, and Luisa nod and briskly say their goodbyes to their abuela before heading to the kitchen.

Dolores covers her ears on their way to the kitchen, wanting to be surprised by whatever mess Camilo and Mirabel had made, although her efforts were fruitless.

“What happened in here?!” Isabela shrieks.

“She/He started it.” The two point fingers at each other as they abruptly put food down.

“Camilo won’t listen to my instructions!” “Mirabel is a lousy teacher!”

Luisa takes a deep breath before cleaning up the scattered bits of food, “Did you guys have a food fight in here..?”

“Yes / No.”

Isabela crosses her arms as she turns to Dolores. “Who’s telling the truth?”

“They’re both telling the truth. Camilo was in charge of broiling the meat but,” Dolores shrugs, “I don’t know what he did, but he threw a bread at Mirabel to catch her attention and they ended up having a little food fight.”

Isabela takes deep breaths. “What were you trying to cook?”

Camilo answers. “Bandeja Paisa.” Dolores hums. “Interesting. Luisa, check if we have anymore ingredients. Isabela, once Luisa finds the ingredients you’ll be making the Chicharonnes.” She wears an apron and ties it behind her. “You can cook, right?”

Isabela nods. “Better than those two combined.”

“She said you’re worse.” Camilo and Mirabel whisper to each other. “You two, pick up Antonio. He’s with the coffee kid” The two bow. “Yes, ma’am!”

Luisa furrows her eyebrows at the two. “Why are they bowing?” Isabela answers, “They’re dorks.”

...it looks like thief of blood akito and mage of light ena and basically what that means is thieves steal. obviously but they are the "active" ([Redacted long ass explanation you would know]) stealing class, and blood is the aspect of bonds between people. a thief of blood would take (insert what you think here) Away from their interpersonal relationships and use it to further the goals of the party, always a class that pushes things forward but not typically one that is well liked, lol. vriska is the prime example of a thief class in canon, very divisive lol. i think this is a really good akito read and can be summed up in a dialouge between len and toya: (context, len asking kohane and toya if its difficult to have such outgoing partners)

"When it comes to music and his goals, Akito is always super focused. So much so that he's strict on himself as well as others. So in that sense, trying to always live up to his ideals can be pretty difficult."

"I see. I guess that's also what makes it all worth it though, huh?!"

[reading back, i just kinda stopped here lmao well really this kind of dynamic just translates nicely and would probably play out similarly to how akito just. does but with waaaay bigger rpg stakes. although opening up the session to be EVERYONE would certainly make things more interesting, to be ostracised by so many people (as per the thiefs role basically necessitates at the start) has got to really do stuff to ur brain yknow. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ]

NOW mage of light ena is very fun so mages are also an active class, the active form of seeing and between seeing and the aspect of light things are about to get a lot less straightforward but. mages have full knowledge of theur aspect. seers, their passive counterpart are the typical ~tormented by weird flashes of the future they cant possibly understand~ but sollux, the canon mage of doom just Fully Knows Everybody Is Basically Already Dead and the struggle of the class is trying to NOT let that overwhelming, all knowing power, consume and defeat you. this goes double when we introduce light, which is associated with rose in canon ~going grimdark~, when she makes a pact with an outer eldritch god. vriska, coincidentally, is the other (main) light aspect we have to go off of, and her hubris just totally consumes her at a point. rose describes light as knowledge, but she IS a seer, and vriska describes it as something like luck, but we can take that adaptability and ena and say that light, for her, would be something like self-consciousness. she makes art, takes photos, involves herself in every step of the process to make it perfect-- if this angle is off, theyll notice, theyll hate it, theyll hate me; my art gets less attention, i should change this, do that, be better; this flaw, that flaw, constantly breathing down her neck.

applied to the game, maybe that would spread to consciousness for the entire partys actions? but either way, being in full knowledge of her every consequence would threaten her every move to near paralysis as the mage of light, and her hard-headedness and refusal of the despair of her friends is the perfect thing to raise her to the challenge

I am very sad to report tho that I did give Akito the clownery class, as I could not think of anyone else who would suit bard, you're not the first person to mistake it tho, I think without the codpiece it's unrecognizable. Also, I plan to make Toya's title Prince of Breath, because I think it would be really fun to have those two both be destroyer classes, while also having opposing aspects.

(I havent been able to play proseka since after the first week the eng ver came out because my phone broke, so i basically know nothing about vbs other than what i have learnt from the wiki and what ive seen others say, so there's a good chance I've misunderstood something.)

Destroyer classes start by ghosting their opposing aspect, until finally finding a point to embrace their own. It seems like Akito has a kinda, almost nonexistent relationship with his parents and a strained one with Ena, but has found strong bonds with his friends, and likewise Toya faced pressures from his father but has started standing up for himself and doing what he wants as an individual. (idk if akito helped with that in any way, but if he did then that would be an example of him being a destroyer)

Also, Ena I was having a hard time deciding on a class for, I did draw her as a maid but the mage class looks very similar so I can see how you would have thought that! I'm honestly still not sure on Ena's class, and honestly looking at your analysis it makes more sense to have her as a Mage than a Maid. Luck is one of the things light symbolises, and I had kind of interpreted that for Ena as the concept of talent? As Maid I kind of thought of Ena 'creating' talent rather than it just being something that she already has, but as a Mage I think she would see the talent that others have and understand the best place for them to utilise it, as well as understanding her own abilities, whether or not she thinks that what she can do is good enough or not (I think this is similar to canon idk).

Projecting Story Elements for Magic: the Gathering in 2022

OK, I love the Magic: the Gathering storyline which ranks near the top on my list of favorite hobbies on Tumblr.  This year brings numerous opportunities to speculate on the story elements for this year’s premier MTG sets!  So for this post I am going to speculate on: 

1.  Potential story elements of the set

2.  Specific events which may occur

3.  Planeswalkers who may appear in the set

I will go set by set, and try to incorporate as much known knowledge as possible!  I may update my thoughts as sets (and stories from released sets) become known as the year progresses.  Without further ado!

Innistrad: Crimson Vow

Technically not in 2022, but coming soon none-the-less!  We know lots about the story elements, considering Crimson Vow takes place directly after Midnight Hunt.  

Story Elements:

The first known thing about Crimson Vow is the “Biggest vampire wedding in Innistrad history!” which will unite the Voldaren and Markov bloodlines.  We also know from the story so far that night on Innistrad is overcoming day.  Humans who once turned to Avacyn for safety increasingly look to other sources for protection, including ancient magics forgotten when Sorin created Avacyn.  One Coven seeks to restore the balance, and needs the Moonsilver Key in the Celestus to perform the ritual.

We also know part of the Gatewatch: Teferi, Chandra and Kaya came to Innistrad to assist Arlinn Kord, who seeks to help restore the Day/Night balance on her home plane.  Now, while Arlinn & the Gatewatch succeed in finding the Moonsilver Key, and also succeed in starting the ritual: I do not believe the ritual passes.  I suspect Olivia Valdaren ends the ritual and blocks it based on the card: Olivia’s Midnight Ambush.  The flavor text on this card reads:

"And you were almost finished with that ritual, weren't you, darling? How very rude of me. To make it up to you, I'll send you an invitation to my wedding."

I suspect her raid ends the ritual, kills the Coven leader, and spirals us into Crimson Vow.  

Overall, this suggests that much of the plot of Crimson Vow will surround new attempts to restore the balance between Day and Night.  I suspect Sorin Markov, who fights Sigarda in a rage, will unite with the Gatewatch (and Arlinn Kord, & Sigarda) to save the plane.  How they do this is not revealed as of yet.  However, I suspect one plot detail has been spoiled for the set and thats....

Specific Events:

Edgar Markov marries Olivia Valdaren.  

Olivia is the known progenitor of the Voldaren line, as Edgar Markov is the known progenitor of the Markov line.  At first I felt Sorin would marry Olivia, but I find this unlikely as Olivia despises Sorin (and refuses to save him at the end of Eldritch Moon).  Sorin may care for the future of Innistrad but he remains hedonistic and petty; he spends the end of Episode 2 in this story line griping about how nobody sacrificed as much as he did for the plane and why should he be expected to give more?  He also treats Nahiri quite shallowly when she arrives on Innistrad to demand he help her fix Zendikar.  

More importantly, however, we also get card evidence that Edgar Markov is involved in this story, specifically: Fateful Absence.  The flavor text for this card reads:

“Sensing a plot, Sorin raced to his grandfather's resting-crypt. But someone else had gotten there first.“

The plot going like this, I suspect, for the story:

A) Our heroes (the Gatewatch, Sigarda, Arlinn) regroup after Olivia invokes eternal night by defeating the ritual.

B) They join up with Sorin Markov, who is now angry at Olivia for convincing his grandfather to marry her, and hatch a plan to stop the wedding

C) Olivia marries Edgar

D) The wedding turns into a bloody mess as the Gatewatch, Arlinn, & Sigarda all try to reverse the damage.  Sorin spends the story finding a way to get revenge.  

E) One of Edgar or Olivia survives

F) Emrakul is released and everybody dies (Just kidding)

Anyway, with all of this laid out that leaves us with potential planeswalkers.

Planeswalker Appearances:

Each set I will assume only three planeswalkers appear, with speculation for a fourth & fifth.

We already know Arlinn Kord, Teferi, & Sorin Markov will get cards; Arlinn & Teferi will not get cards in this set since they appeared in Midnight Hunt. Sorin Markov appears on the packaging, which nearly guarantees his appearance as a card in this set.

Slot 1: Sorin Markov, WB

Now, Chandra Nalaar and Kaya both appear in the story.  The next quesiton would be: do they get cards in the 2nd set since they are known to appear in the story?  It’s a tough call.  Chandra would fit in nicely since Sorin will almost certainly appear as a WB planeswalker granting a third color for balance purposes.  Kaya, on the other hands, presents two problems.  First, she shares her color identity with the story’s likely main character.  Second, she already got a card recently in Kaldheim (which is still in Standard).  I would guess she lacks a card in the set.

Slot 1: Sorin Markov, WB Slot 2: Chandra Nalaar, R

Now we’re into more speculative territory.  I highly doubt we only get two planeswalkers in the set, which leaves open a spot for a new planeswalker (likely a blue  planeswalker).  That being said, I would not be surprised if Tamiyo makes an appearance in the 3rd slot; she appeared in both previous stops in Innistrad, and two of her colors would fill out the color balancing in the set so far.

Slot 1: Sorin Markov, WB Slot 2: Chandra Nalaar, R Slot 3: Tamiyo, U

Other potential planeswalkers include the aforementioned Kaya, Tibalt (who would love to spoil a wedding), & Davirel Cane.  If I had to make a stab at a fourth walker I’d gamble and guess Davriel, with a final list of:

Slot 1: Sorin Markov, WB Slot 2: Chandra Nalaar, R Slot 3: Tamiyo, U Slot 4: Davriel Cane, B

Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty

Story Elements:

So little is known about the new set except that the set takes place concurrently in the present, and that the set will feature both a new planeswalker, Keito, and that the current Emperor of Kamigawa is “someone we’re familiar with” which sadly does not tell us much. Let’s start by considering some known characters from the original block:

Toshiro Umezawa.  Toshi is definitely not the emperor.  First, Toshi was sent to Dominaria by the Myojin of Night’s Reach at the end of the block (and his descendent will eventually kill Nicol Bolas).  Second, he’d almost assuredly be dead by now.

Hidetsugu.  An ogre who joined with the Oni of All Consuming Chaos, he could conceivably be alive at this point, although he would not be my guess.

The Myojin of Night’s Reach.  Unlikely.  While powerful enough, ambitious enough, to try: I just do not see her being able to take the power.  She was defeated by Bolas sometime after the events of the original block, for instance.

The Sisters of Flesh & Spirit.  Better known as “That Which was Taken” and “Michiko Konda” both characters join at the end of the 3rd book.  They’re the most likely candidate to run the whole plane, the only downside is I doubt many players actually know who they are, or how they became one.

However, their union would potentially explain the futuristic nature of the plane.  If the Emperor is both spirit and flesh, then the spirit world (Kakuriyuo) & physical world (Utsushiyo) may have joined as well, giving the plane its current futuristic (dare I say: neon) appearance.

Specific Events:

I will only predict one event in this set, and that’s the appearance from Tamiyo’s story circle.  I would be shocked if this relatively well known gathering is not referenced in the set.  It would be a surprise, to say the least.

Planeswalker Appearances:

First thing’s first: Keito is confirmed for the set.  We do not know what color identity he has yet, but they did call Keito a “cyber ninja” in the video.  Ninjas are a pretty evenly split tribe between blue and black, so I will call Keito a UB planeswalker for now:

Slot 1: Keito, UB

I cannot imagine them returning to Kamigawa without bringing back Tamiyo.  I know she literally is predicted to appear in Innistrad: Crimson Vow but I think predicting her here is also plausible.

Slot 1: Keito, UB Slot 2: Tamiyo, U

Next, they also mentioned that a “mysterious planeswalker” would make an appearance in this set as well.  Now, they did not say whether this planeswalker was a new planeswalker or a returning planeswalker.  Some planeswalkers we know of who I would classify as mysterious include: Kasmina, The Raven Man, The Wanderer, Davriel Cane, Ashiok, & Aminatou.  Ashiok is currently investigating New Phyrexia and shares my predicted colors with Keito; Davriel (I think) is a strange fit on this set, and I do not see us learning about the Raven Man absent Liliana.  That leaves the Wanderer, Aminatou, or Kasmina.  We did just see Kasmina and I do suspect she plays a role in whatever arc they are building up to, but she conflicts with Keito & Tamiyo.  That leaves the Wanderer or Aminatou.  Given Mark Rosewater’s doubts about Aminatou (and her own conflicts) I predict The Wanderer.

Slot 1: Keito, UB Slot 2: Tamiyo, U Slot 3: The Wanderer, W

That does leave room for a walker with red and green.  Samut fits in, but I will guess Sarkhan who originally appeared Gruul, and may visit with Narset.

Streets of New Capenna

Planeswalker Appearances:

So little is known about this new plane that I will limit myself to guessing planeswalkers.  Ob Nixilis is confirmed, and this is a wedge set, so I am predicting they finally print Nixilis as a Rakdos planeswalker.

Slot 1: Ob Nixilis, BR

They also confirmed this plane is “special” to Elspeth.  You do not name drop that and not include her.

Slot 1: Ob Nixilis, BR Slot 2: Elspeth, W

OK.  As far as I know: Ajani has not reunited with Elspeth yet, which suggests to me that there is room for a reunion in this set.  

Slot 1: Ob Nixilis, BR Slot 2: Elspeth, W Slot 3: Ajani Goldmane, WG

Calix would be my second choice, same colors, since he is currently chasing her.  If there is one other potential walker I would guess a new walker.  I honestly do not see what other walker would fit here, especially with Nixilis taking up the BR space in this scenario.

Dominaria United

Specific Events:

If you read the first story from Midnight Hunt you know that Teferi helped Wrenn find her seventh tree to bond with, and that Wrenn offered to help Teferi repair the damage his spell phasing out Zhalfir from Dominaria did to both his home and his plane.  Given the name I predict Teferi works with Wrenn to restore Dominaria to its full state.  

I also predict that Teferi, Karn, & Ajani all work together to plan out the destruction of New Phyrexia (with an eventual showdown sometime in 2023).  

Planeswalker Appearances:

I think Dominaria United will act like a traditional core set.  So, with that being said, I think the following walkers appear:

Slot 1: Teferi, U Slot 2: Wrenn, G

As said above, I think a big part of the story line is Teferi bringing Zhalfir back to Dominaria.  That requires both Wrenn and Teferi, and since this is a core set both will get only a single color.

Slot 1: Teferi, U Slot 2: Wrenn, G Slot 3: Ajani, W

Ajani will return helping Teferi and Karn plan the destruction of New Phyrexia.  Since Ajani is base white its a good fit.  There are plenty of mono red planeswalkers but only two which make story sense.  The first is Koth, but since I doubt he leaves New Phyrexia I do not think he makes an appearance.  My guess is Jaya Ballard, a native Dominarian, will show up in the fourth spot instead.

Slot 1: Teferi, U Slot 2: Wrenn, G Slot 3: Ajani, W Slot 4: Jaya Ballard, R

The 5th spot is the one I am not sure of; if Wizards wanted to tell a largely Dominarian story they would bring back Liliana Vess, but I do not think she quite makes sense for this story as she is in hiding and as far as I know her appearance would not sit well with Teferi and Ajani (Gatewatch members).  I will toss out three possibilities: 1) Sorin Markov (guessing Teferi recruits him to protect Innistrad against an inter-planar threat), 2) Davriel Cane, or 3) Karn (and go colorless).  They could also just include Karn as a 6th walker like Core Set 2021.  For now, I will assume Karn as the 5th walker.

Slot 1: Teferi, U Slot 2: Wrenn, G Slot 3: Ajani, W Slot 4: Jaya Ballard, R Slot 5: Karn, C

The Brothers War

This set does not require speculation since the story has already been told.  I would highly recommend reading the book.  The only thing I will say for certain is: Urza finally gets a real planeswalker card.

wow today was weird.

it made me know what i want more. and i am ever more certain after today.

denzels and i catch up alot about old friends and what the heck were we doing, how we met and yknow typical things. what i couldnt believe was some of the things i did that he swore by it that i have zero recollection.. ok not swore by it but like he was sure and i am not at all. which felt v weird because i dont recognize that me at all.

so the normal things were like how we met, we both didnt rmb. but he say its from dan. and i do think so. but thats not impt la.

he told me of 2 things that i rly didnt rmb. 1 was that he said i kept asking sus (another friend) to help me get fentanyl. i nv rmb wanting that shit. fentanyls dangerous. i asked him like theres just no way i rmb asking for fentanyl. fentanyl is what those dealers lace drugs with cos if im not wrong its cheaper than like pure meth. so they will lace fentanyl in with meth/heroin etc so its like unpure shit. but too much of it will die one. so i rly dont rmb. if i did then i dont know what the fuck i was thinking. i asked him "omg theres no way, are u sure its not like benzos or like some pill?" he said he dont rly rmb but he was quite sure. dude. i dont rmb shit. he said i kept BUGGING him and sus... and even ask them to try.. zzz

2nd was he said last time they always hang out in bishan, like they have a place they go to like some hangout spot, i nv go before. but after my work, when i still work at bishan CPF too, with my old company, they will like meet me aft my work since they are at bishan too and i will pass them meth. them as in ernest and zels. then they will meet the rest of the grp idk who at their hang out spot and him and ernest will go take meth.. he told me like, on meth he was on his phone for 12hrs, i feel like that happened, but in my head i rly dont rmb. idk how to say. i rly did not rmb that. cos how he brought it up was like, "omg i rmb last time we always meet u aft ur work at bishan then smoke 1 cigg then u will pass us stuff and we will scurry away..." then im like, wait what??? and i didnt even dare to ask how many times.... i was ashamed of my old self.

but i could believe that. for some reason. i was always the one sponsoring their meth. and when he told me like i pass them shit i felt so horrible sia. i keep saying "im so embarrassed and sorry..." like i told him i was ashamed. he said its cool like he dont do anymore. and he apologised for bringing all this up. but i said its ok. like its not that hard. and he commented on my ig names, like its always affirming and nice. so thats cool/ imn ot gna lie these thoughts make me for a second had me thinking it was better times. i was almost consumed by it. but i snapped out of it.

like during our conversation i said like, i thought i was cool, but i was actually the clown, making u guys try meth and shit. i said i felt v v v bad. and its one reason why i dont wna meet them. which is true. bcos i cant face it. he assured that it was okay, and made sure that they didnt blame me. yknow? but up until this point i feel like i am always that stained "jo" amongst that group.

he also mentioned that he only told ernest that hes meeting me, like recently, and ernest said "huh to take meth ah" wah and my heart sank. i laughed it off like it was funny, but i feel like i was stained. meth and jo comes tgt. yknow. i felt so horrible and i apologised to him at the end of the day. like texted him sorry and he said:

and otw back from mac like when i sending him back, i told him like ive never been clearer. and he was v proud of me. so apparently the rest are like dealers and shit, but they dont do meth just mostly weed and ketamine. and he said like they think they are cool. and that rly like got me to see, how uncool and stupid they are. which i think most of them thought of me like that.

aside from our conversation, we had some rly great laughs just about other people and their drama. apprently the group i always thought was cool wasnt very after all. they have so much drama themselves. and i can share w u more but the impt ones were those im saying now.

it was a weird day. but i can say that old jo is gone because i couldnt even recognize her. the shit i do... i hate old me, but i love this new me!
