considering opening up writing comms for extra muns to throw at artists for comms from them. or trades! ive never done writing comms, only requests, so i'm going to trial run it by offering writing (yogscast, achievement hunter, some 3rd life, or dsmp/scu/qsmp) in exchange for other writing or art. I typically write between 1k to 2k words for vauge ideas, but i can get up to 4-5k words if you have more details and some plot points in mind. whatever you wanna throw at me in return, i'll take it! if i end up dropping a larger fic than expected on you, no need to do anything more for me. you'll be guaranteed at least 1k words (no filler/padding bs) no matter what. i'll post again when I'm ready to take them on (holidays are a bitch and a half), but you can dm me now to bounce ideas around ^.^

nick is basically the secret storyteller and has been the whole time, which is deeply iconic actually. he's got a google doc of notes notes he makes lewis read so he doesn't goof anything up too hard. he also has a very cool skin and username 'noxxflame' so im gonna work that into my storyteller xeph lore somehow. he and zylus are doing the extra filming and there to make sure no one breaks madness without being noticed, so thats why poor zylus never gets to play a game.

if you noticed the spooky smoke outside the doors and windows in the new episode, its because people were cheating by looking to see who the storyteller was visiting lmao. yogscast guarantee babey - i thought the lack of cheating was pretty out of character.

normally they actually select the roles with some degree of intentionality - so the cannibal duncan thing was intentional, which is amazing. canon lalnable hector reference in 2024 my beloved.

zylus is so hyped to actually play! there is some very funny irony, like in dnd, where the people who love the game the most are often the ones stuck on the outside looking in.

they've now set it up so the sun actively sets as the timer counts down which looks delightful

hermitcraft fans, can we please stop blaming fandom strife on dsmp enjoyers coming into the fandom? i can almost guarantee 9 times out of 10 that the dsmp mains are not starting these fandom discourses among hermitcraft mains. dsmp fandom has seen and handled canon & jokes that are worse than scitties or shipping or w/e. all of the problems that weve had in the hermitcraft fandom have been started by hermitcraft fans, especially longtime ones (and occasionally, former hermitcraft fans who refuse to leave the past in the past and move on).

the main pillar of the divison between hermitcraft fans comes in the form of a question: "how fictional is hermitcraft?" fans who answer "it's not fictional at all" are more likely to say "hermitshipping is wrong because they're real people", and fans who answer "its mostly or completely fictional" are more likely to say "hermitshipping is fine because they're playing characters". this question - one of fictionality - is one that dream dreamwastaken literally answered himself in 2020 when he introduced the "/rp" tone tag, meant to indicate discussion of roleplayed, fictional events; this later evolved into the creation of the "c!" modifier, mean to indicate characters specifically (ie. c!dream, cdream, character!dream).

dream smp fans have their own answer to this discourse, and yeah while they may handle hermitcraft differently, they've been separating creator and story for almost two years now. its hermitcraft mains who cant let go of past fights, its hermitcraft mains who cant catch up to the dsmp fans or even the yogscast fans in terms of these discussions

WELP. LALNAPOSTING ENGAGE

this is Lalna. he's the resident mad scientist of the Yogscast, or at least the one that openly wears it on his sleeve, and also dabbles in magic and combinations of magic and science for fun and profit. he's a goofball, although not very aware of the consequences of his actions and how he makes people around him feel. especially if those feelings are negative. he shrugs things off very easily and copes with whatever fallout happens by busying himself with some random project or outright being in denial.

memorable moments include him trying to make one of his rivals into a lawn ornament while casually telling him he planted a nuke under his base as a deterrent, causing at least one apocalypse, locking his apprentice in her tower for 100 days when she got severe magic poisoning, getting kidnapped several times, and replacing his cat constantly while being in vocal denial that anything ever happened to her. normal things to have happen in mcyt.

if you need a guy who has a lot of knowledge about Any Kind Of Science, you hit up Lalna. he's a rocket scientist, nuclear scientist, thaumaturge, magic law enforcer, ex-Yoglabs employee, and cloning specialist. he's in a bunch of different series so running into him one way or another is practically guaranteed.

except.. that's not all the same Lalna.

there are many, many Lalnas.

the story goes that Lalna used to work at Yoglabs and was an important force in establishing respawn. in the Yogscast canon, when you die Yoglabs prints a clone of you, shoves your memories into it, and teleports it to where you were. it's really messed up if you think about it for too long, and as one of the people working on it Lalna definitely thought about it for too long. at some point he snapped and may have killed a bunch of people (unclear on how much of it is unreliable narration), and got locked up in Yoglabs.

as for all of his clones, they scattered to the four winds. none of them are aware of the existence of other Lalnas or that they're not the original. from their pov, there is only one Lalna, and that's them. normally this is fine because they don't cross paths... until they do and things go catastrophic. not in the "world destruction" way, but in the "identity crisis" way. of course, the way they approach the identity crisis is to double down on "no, the other me is fake, i'm the real Lalna", which is all well and fine...

up until a Lalna calling himself Lalnable Hector shows up and starts tormenting the Flux Buddies (flux!Lalna and his apprentice Nano). Lalnable is a card-carrying villain, embracing the "mad" part of mad scientist with more glee than even the most mad science-y of Lalnas, and also leans heavily in the bloody serial killer aesthetic. after some mistaken identity when Nano finds his lab journals and accuses flux!Lalna of secretly being evil, they come to the conclusion that this must be an evil clone out to get them. especially when Lalnable starts cloning Nano.

Flux Buddies 2.0 culminates in a dramatic showdown between the Flux Buddies and the Flux Baddies (Lalnable and the Nano clone Specimen 5), and Lalnable dropping a hell of a bombshell: he's the original. the Lalna we've been following the POV of the entire time is a failed clone.

for further context, this is the first time any of the alternate Lalnas being clones comes up as a plot point. there'd been some hints before, but Lalnable in the season finale is when it finally gets confirmed. it's SO MUCH.

So assuming we were never going to get any official word from the Yogscast to salt the earth for Sjin in the event he tried coming back, it would be important to make it clear that his fans would not be welcome inside the Yogscast fandom. They would not be an unofficial part of the community. And that bringing their “sjinnocent” crap back into the community and trying to make him de-facto official again would not be okay. The eventual goal of that being people would not share Sjin’s content and his fandom would be too threadbare to support him.

But now that there’s absolutely no chance in hell of Sjin returning? They’re less than the Jellyspotter fans going “Kevin’s back!” There’s just nothing there.

And I emphasize again - this counter-return stuff is why Bouphe speaking out sooner and clearer was important and missed. His career death was by no means guaranteed until today. Likely? Yes. But without internal, explicit confirmation of Sjin’s abusive behavior we could easily have returned to square one in time.

The ambiguity of Lewis' response has failed this investigation and community.

Claiming Sjin is neither 'innocent nor guilty' has done nothing but left everyone confused. It has divided fans- many believe Sjin is entirely innocent, or at least that he has been unnecessarily purged for awkward yet harmless flirting. On the other hand, a large portion believe Sjin has solicited nudes from minors and exploited his position of power over fans for sexual means- an reprehensible crime.

Lewis says that Sjin has breached the 'code of conduct', yet the terms of this code aren't disclosed, explained or made clear in any way, causing more blind speculation. The perspective of fans is limited to only the word of Sjin's ex-girlfriends and screenshots they cannot guarantee (so will never believe) are real.

It has been made clear that Sjin has done something wrong- but how wrong? Those defending him can consult the lack of any real admittance of guilt, as well as no firm verdict from Lewis to confirm their view that the whole thing was blown out of proportion. They vow to support Sjin despite possible predatory behaviour (which would allow this behaviour to continue), and can feel justified in shutting down his victims as attention seeking or trouble-making.

The issue is 'complicated', and there's no doubt these past few weeks have been awful for the company, yet this honestly irresponsible response has dwindled my faith in the Yogscast. It has been a month since this investigation began, and over 5 years since these claims were brought to light. People are sad, but only the truth can help us heal. Your community deserved better.
