As a note before I begin: I saw one of these that shamed malleus and randomly even chenya enjoyers- (claimed that they were pick mes or something? 😭) so i wanted to make one that was more positive out of spite <3 make it more about the writing and why people appreciate the characters. Take each of these with a grain of salt i spose- also a lot of them share similar themes <3

(Aka fans who have different views or even blatantly incorrect views of characters will always exist everywhere, but insulting the entirety of a group solely for enjoying a character, many for different reasons, is probably not a great idea!

I get that sometimes people suck and thats understandable, but quit generalizing ok? Ok.

Life can be such a cunt. It can beat a person down, down, down and leave them vulnerable enough to fear it. To fear that beating, whenever it may next come. their time in high school is called sunset era . their main plot is called . u guessed it . dusk era.

dm is well known within their hometown bc hes basically just . a living science experiment . hes one of the most interesting parts of the town . also he helps out a lot with odd jobs here and there so a lot of people know of him

despite this people still sorta keep their distance from him and dont rlly bother to get close to him . dm is used to this at this point . this is also why cares abt lp so much . this little guy is probs the first person to actually care about him as a person after. yk . petey. Lmfao.

i reckon dm immediately recognizes how lp and petey look nearly identical . i think hed feel weird about it initially (mostly just sad) but eventually just dismiss it as a coincidence . obvs until he meets petey and realizes Okay this is Not a coincidence.

their hometown is like . a mountain town . a town in a mountainous region . yeah

"dog man" used to be a name he was called in high school in like. a Mean way. and he did Not like it. but overtime he just got desensitized to it because Nobody would call him by his actual name . now he truly does not care about being called dog man . its just a title for him .

this is also a part of the reason why he misses petey . he was like the only person to call him greg . he may not care abt being caleld dm but he misses being called greg.

for majority of dusk au petey calls dm dog man . he doesnt call him greg until they acknowledge their shared history . i reckon the first time he calls him greg in dusk era dm gets a little emotional LMFAO

back in high school dm was homeless . he was able to sleep at school bc chief (principal of school) would let him spend the nights in his office . he was like his dad in a way . he couldnt rlly adopt him js bc he had his own life stuff going on and he felt woefully underprepared to have total responsibility of a child especially not a teen but he always made sure he was safe and ate well .

anyways this means that whenever he and petey walked home it was more so dm just walking petey home and making sure he got home safe and then turning around and going back to school . he never told him that . he just pretended like his house was a little further down the road .

the convenience store is also smth that chief helped him with . like getting the actual building in the first place and setting it up

that being said the convenience store is also dms house . theres like a studio in the back that he js lives in .

i think chief has a vague idea that something happened eith dm and petey pregrad and thats the reason dm is insisting on staying in their hometown even tho he used to seem pretty open to the idea of leaving town for his education. this is also why hes kinda skeptical when petey comes back and dm tells him abt how theyve been spending time tgth again ESP when dm tells him that peteys completely avoiding talking about their history . he js wants the best for dm 😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️

theres are several canon events during the sunset era:

-> event where petey is riled up and pissed off and lwk freaking out and dm takes him to coin karaoke to get him to blow off steam . they get rlly drunk off of cheap booze and just . generally have a good time . its also one of the fastest and most effective ways petey has Ever been calmed down in his life and he tries to ignore how that makes him feel kinda soft

-> event where dm and petey take a bus to the coast at like 2 am or smth . and they just sorta talk and splash around in the water . Heavily inspired by the yeosu sea . (listen to yeosu night sea by busker busker!) since theyre used to being surrounded by mountains, being in such an open place is very refreshing for them both. esp petey who feels suffocated and trapped by their hometown . like yes his moving away post grad was partially bc of dm but also he never liked their hometown . at all. also smth smth petey being scared of water but dm makes him feel safe and that freaks him out a little (bro is showing vulnerability)

-> event where peteys calling dms bluff and basically syaing ooohh youd never get a piercing and dms like nuh uh try me except when petey tries to pierce his ear he sees the needle and freaks out a little (medical trauma !) . he expects petey to make fun of him (not necessarily a judgement on peteys character more so like a "ooh i acted so tough about it but now im backing out thats kinda cringe 😬😬") but peteys just like man whatever and dm feels a little confused about it . hes used to having to uphold a certain persona of sorts as like someone carefree and dependable so that people dont get unnerved by him being a freak of nature for lack of a better word . like making up for his very existence by being approachable. so seeing petey just. not give a shit that he Obviously has some problems is. idk a litle refreshing ig ? like he doesnt rlly have to uphold a facade in front of him bc he dgaf .

-> confession event ! this happens a very short time before their grad (a few weeks to a month at most) during their walk home. sun is setting, its basically summer so its humid as hell, cicadas are chirping, dragonflies in the air, etc etc .

*not for any of the Bois* but omg I love this. How they're all drawn where theyre all Shadow and Sonic but still uniquely themselves. Esp that glowsticks ask for the SMU duo and how expressive the primes are (the ears omg, one of my fav parts of that show). Love that Lance and Arthur are together like an old married couple. Love this so much and looking forward to where it goes next. (Really glad I watched Snapcubes play through of TMoStH a few days ago, excellent timing on my part lol)

I love it when you guys notice all the little details I try to pack in to make sure each Sonic and Shadow is different. I fear I will dip into more OOC/headcanon personality traits for some of the Sonic’s and Shadows as we progress (it’s a bit unavoidable… sorrey)

Paradox and Prism are the only Sonic and Shadow who emote with their ears. I try to keep Latch and Reeves eyes more square and give them pupils. The tops of Bandi and Boosts eyes are colored black. Lance and Arthur are just 🏳️‍🌈 and there’s other stuff like Snap and OG being “low poly” hehe.

Yes!!! I headcanon that he “accepted” and really realized he liked Prism pretty recently (as we’ve seen) but before that it was an unconscious crush from this moment onward.

yes, unless it is excplicitly stated all comics/ drawings under the hashtag r canon!

it was also a bit of a character study of ethan, i wanted to draw what i think he would act like after going through something as traumatizing as re8 and re7. a lot of the times ethan getting horribly hurt (arms/legs cut off) is either passed off as a joke of "haha he lost another arm" or passed off as him being a idiot being stupid. i wanted to explore how those things would affect him and how all his past relationships did as well. both mia and chris, two people he cared for and trusted broke his trust, mia on two different occasions. (pls dont turn this into a anti mia post lol, its just straight canon im just acknowledging what she literally did. what she did affects the people in her life, and this post is about ethan. it doesnt nesscarily matter what her intentions were since the execution was still horrible so pls dont get upset at me)

in re7 he suffers the consequences of someones lie, and it repeats in re8. i feel like he would be far more reserved after re8. he cant trust anyone and he now lives with the knowledge that he and his daughter r bioweapons and there organizations out there to get him. in this AU chris is helping by trying to return ethan to a normal life but after re8 ethan would not trust chris imo. not in a way where he thinks chris will turn him into the BSAA or whatever but more like hes worried that chris is possibly hiding something important or planning something he doesnt know.

he would have major trust issues and probably would have huge difficulty with opening himself up to another connection, especially since leon is friends with chris. ethan would probably be wary due to association.

after re8 he is left with nothing. his wife lied to him again, and the man who was suppose to protect him did a horrible job at it LOL. he has rosemary and thats it. and at any moment someone could take her for being a bioweapon. he would live a life of paranoia and stress trying to give rosemary and normal life while trying to keep her safe at the same time. i feel like getting divorced with mia would be the best option for ethan. as much as they loved each other it wasnt healthy. mia wanted to forget and move on while ethan knew nothing and wanted to understand more. its unfortunate i know. in re8 ethan has a book about weapons and says, "its not paranoia if theyre really out to get you."

thinking abt s6 dualities again bc mapicc's habit of always being so mindful and careful of his low heart friends Kills Me. like on sunday he was soooo frustrated abt the fact that he had nobody who was willing to fight w him or take a death for the chance at getting the mace, yet He was the one who told ro not to fight bc it just wasnt worth it for her to go into a fight w clown on six bc she'd just get obliterated by the mace

mind you, minute was on 7? 8? at this point which is also very much one shot range for the mace LOL (though i think the fact that theyre teammates makes mapicc see things differently. ro agreeing to help fight clown would've only get her killed and since shes not In the empire, she is putting her own life at risk for THEM to get the mace and with very little pay off for her. it'd only end up w her losing without getting anything in return— especially since unlike minute and chief, its unlikely that ro has a teammate who'll be there to help her regear and get her hearts up again)

BUTTTTT thats not the only instance of mapicc having a bit of bias in his worries ☝️🤓 bc during the warden killing stream he didnt rly care abt bacon, hannah, or jumper doing dumb, risky shit that could get them killed nearly as much in comparison. like when they got all close and personal w the wardens and did stuff that was dumb and yk kinda more obviously for Content then survivability it was funny. and yet when ro asks to be crit, its "i'll crit bacon— actually, just crit me." and when its ro running back into the warden's danger radius, its "don't...you are So confident 😭" while following after her. same w the battle for spawn, it was kinda just accepted that there would be deaths and that Most of the deaths would be the chungus players, and once again ☝️☝️☝️ after vodwatching i have confirmed ro was the only one in either fight that mapicc told to leave the fight entirely After bfb began targetting her

now i know im just Saying Things rn but the reason im pointing this out is bc i think . the reason s6 dualities is this way, why mapicc worries abt ro's low heart count sm is bc of their relationship in s5. like ro spent around half of s5, maybe a bit longer on VERY low hearts after she gave mapicc almost all of her hearts nd ended up banned shortly after. and none of her Actual teammates seemed to do more than just Say they cared— they never rly did anything to revive, protect, or help her like mapicc did

like from what ive watched so far, the only people who ever seemed to defend ro or even spend time w her when she was low on hearts was mapicc and Sometimes planet. lalas CLAIMED to care abt ro but they werent the ones who revived her, they werent even the ones who would spend time w her on the server after she was revived and running around on 4 hearts. and ro was...not good on low hearts. like she would just get killed by people and hesitated to push people to give her hearts back so mapicc ended up being the one who did it for her, even when his own actual teammate was the one who killed her. she continuously made dumb decisions like trying to join in on fights that would only get her killed bc again; she had like 4 hearts and no gear to her name and mapicc had to be the one to tell her Not to do it bc a few crits from a pickaxe w strength could kill her

even when ro stopped being as fragile, she seemed to die so damn much when she was fighting alongside minute. her and planet both. theyd both die and theyd die and theyd die for minute and he would always get out of fights deathless, doing an honestly kinda shit job at having weaker teammates who very much rely on him to be the strong one during these fights. which was yk, obvious to the abyss since they were the ones killing those two

so yeah like i think. seeing ro go from someone so tripped up on power during s4 –> to accepting it and giving up after spoke makes it clear shes not wanted on the team at the end of s4 during wormhole(?) (im not Too knowledgable on wormhole but like lmk if im wrong here, this is what ive heard abt what ro did during wh) –> to her being someone incredibly squishy during s5 who died like. a lot. even moreso without mapicc or Any teammate who knows how to deal w her basically up until she joined the players, changed their relationship and how mapicc views her even in comparison to his other squishy chungus friends (like planet and bacon) bc hes more then aware that she'll take risks that others wont and she'll walk into battles that will only get her killed if she thinks itll help him

like s5 was when ro was at the weakest mapicc had ever seen her since they teamed in s4 and yet, s5 was also the season she went on to prove her loyalty and care for Him Specifically in her willingness to sacrifice and risk so much for him alone. even if she had other reasonings for giving him her hearts or for betraying lalas and the foundation in the end, the fact remains that a large part of what made her do these things was her attachment to mapicc. which is why they are still...the way they are in s6, ro hasnt even done anything that crazy for him but he knows she WOULD and thats why he returns the care she gives him in the ways hes able to— like worrying abt her health nd not making her make sacrifices for his sake alone when he cant do much for her to repay her for it

what do you tihnk about aspheera. I think she's neat & I'm a big fan of AUs where she remains friends with wu bc I feel like if they had stayed friends it would have had been cool and awesome & change the dynamics of the serpentine war in a very interesting way. to me.

i cannot say aspheera is a character i think about super often or anything but i do really like her. she's probably my second favorite wildbrain villain after unagami. i think her and wu's dynamic is REALLY fun and theres so much to explore in their interactions both in aus where they stay friends as kids or where they reconcile after crystalized or whatever. i think the ep in crystalized where they beef or whatever is so good. i love old person beef.

Kind of love the idea that magic is considered defensive by nature because traditional weaponry is preferred throughout the kingdom. But then you have Sabo spinning that on its head constantly because he’s always running around inciting conflict like “I Crave Violence” which makes Ace's job exasperatingly harder but he takes it in stride because he also loves that side of Sabo.

And then I thought about it, and it would really make a lot of sense if Sabo wasn't a bystander most of the time 🤔 Of course when he wants to see Ace in action then he'll hold back but I am thinking specifically about someone commenting why Sabo is bothering to attack if Ace is there and Sabo responds with something along the lines of “Ace is here to protect me, but if I’m not in any danger, there's no need for him to step in.” So maybe they both flip stereotypes on the head and when Sabo is feeling antsy, feeling the need to expend some of his mana, he relegates Ace to a defensive role. Has him act only as Sabo's shield while Sabo takes on their assailant himself, using the chance to test out the new spell he's been developing. (Needless to say, would-be assassins of the crown prince end up on the wrong side of highly experimental magic more often than not.)

I agreeeee i think magic in this world serving a supportive and defensive role more than for attacking/protective through action(violence) is really fun and gives reason for the whole physical aspect of having a royal/kingsguard with traditional physical weapons as a whole

PLUS gotta pat yourself and myself on the back for slowly tuning the world building especially you for that brilliant write up about the aspects of mana, magicks spellwork and casting and how mages need/have specific affinity pools and if they dont they dont have much hope for casting magicks outside of those affinities because of the nature of mana and magic itself it makes sense that no one really looked into wielding it for damage purposes its too valuable in a sense

Maybe specifically to add more layers haha … :3c attacking magic is very unstable, volatile and siphons way too much mana from the caster to be a viable and safe method of warfare/combat?

The kind of control needed to do so? Possibly only sorcerers could manage it which Sabo would because aforementioned “craving violence” which is exceptionally endearing but exasperating for Ace but he L o v e s sabo and would follow him to the end of all ends should he have to

I have this one post-SoJ headcanon for Datz that I’ve really wanted to share.

He’s only part time as Apollo’s weird guy assistant (most of the time it’s Rayfa who’s following Apollo’s investigations.)

But as far as a regular job for “Paratrooper turned rebel” Datz - he leads a search and rescue team. He’s an expert at breaking himself and others out of prison, so pulling people out of a disaster zone isn’t much different. His experience as a paratrooper makes him unafraid of heights and ready to go through all types of terrain. And then his constant smile and upbeat attitude raises peoples’ spirits (both the team and the people they’re saving.) Datz probably comes up with a dragon themed named for his search team too. It’s his way of honoring Dhurke.

oki so basically...... to start from the BEGINNING beginning, bito is basically a runaway/stowaway from inazuma (heres a link to her lore if u are interested :3) and got a job at the wangshu inn thanks to the kindness of a few people in liyue. she's been waiting tables there ever since, and ever since she got there, she caught the attention of hu tao. she was there with zhongli one afternoon for a business meeting, and bito was the one to wait their table. after their small encounter, hu tao continued to make almost daily trips back to the inn just to see bito and they started spending time together outside of work

their dynamic is very black cat/orange cat flirty/oblivious type shi, hu tao is always dragging bito with her around liyue on what she calls "errands" (literally just excuses to hang out pls). hu tao is notorious in liyue harbor for the more eccentric things she does, from petting and washing the stone lions in front of the ministry of civil affairs to sitting atop a peak in jueyun karst and writing poetry under the moonlight. at first bito was just really excited deep down to have a friend. she was completely oblivious to hu tao's more romantic advances at first as sexuality and romantic love had not been on her mind in years, but eventually she caught on and wasn't sure how to react. after spending almost a year as very close friends, bito's first lantern rite came around and hu tao was extremely excited to show her the festivities. they spent the whole day together enjoying the games, food, and other activities together. once it was time to release the lanterns they climbed up to their spot up on mt tianheng and shared their first kiss. they have been dating ever since <3

some cute facts: since the trip from the harbor to the wangshu inn is definitely not a quick one, hu tao started spending the night in bito's room very frequently rather than making the trip all the way home each night and sometimes bito would stay with her back in the harbor. both verr goldet and zhongli aren't always happy when the girls are late to their respective jobs but tend to let it slide

bito is'nt good with words, so she typically shows her love through making little crafted gifts. she frequently gifts hu tao hand picked and arranged bouquets of silk flowers and other flora, crafts her hairclips and hairpins (i like to think that she made the flower brooch hu tao wears on her scarf in her new skin, i need to draw them matching with her new outfit IMMEDIATELY)

bito is usually the big spoon, she just likes to be able to hold hu tao and know she's there. after the events of her youth, bito experiences frequent nightmares involving her family and the orobashi plague. waking to find her girlfriend warm and alive in her arms makes her feel immediately better
