Since we’re all sending asks now, who are your favorite characters to draw? (other than Mano and Spain of course)

Mannn they are p basic but here they are in order from most to least favorite to draw:

Gilbert is the most fun character for me to draw. He’s kiki, he’s skrunkly, he’s insane and sharp and I can easily break him down to core shapes. 10/10

Alfred is second fave to draw bc he’s just square. He’s fun to draw in huge jackets and sharp suits. He’s also fun as a character so he’s really fun to rotate in my mind and on the screen andndn. Ivan is just HUGE and it’s an easy even flow to draw him, like he’s bouba. Also big nose and droopy eyes and scarf are so fun 🤩 both a solid 8/10

Francis. I love him and I always want to draw him very gorgeous and beautiful and majestic… but he’s also such a bastard and sometimes I struggle on his nose and hair. 7.5/10

I CAN NEVER DRAW HIM. A CONSISTENT WAY. But it’s kind of fun to either draw him as a rat, or a regular blond man 🐀/10

GOD THE ERIN'S THING WITH BIO PARENTS I'm rereading the series and I just got to Hollyleaf's death in The Last Hope and it makes me so mad how Leafpool is the only one who comforts her. Jayfeather only gets to shake and Squirrelflight is just fucking vibing in the background in a battle patrol. Fallen Leaves is more upset than her. SO mad so mad so mad

MAN LIKE... Please understand that I'm saying this with Leafpool love in my Leafpool heart. But it frustrates me immensely that the books went in the direction they did with the parentage of the three. There's SO much wrong here

The plot seems to believe, just post-reveal, that Squilf has to pretend like she doesn't love them so that Ashfur won't kill them (the fuck??)

As if Firestar would just ALLOW an attempted fucking murderer to hang out in his Clan???

Like, go back and read it, she says, "Go ahead Ashfur, kill them, you won't hurt me if you do. They are not my kits." LIKE??

Ashfur: "Wow I totally believe you! I just tried to murder 3 people including a medcat in cold fucking blood and all of you are witnesses now, but rats! I've been foiled! Fire scene cancelled!"

I remember reading this as a kid and being like "This scene sucks. Ashfur would never. Squilf loves her children. 1000000000 lionblazes kill this man now" and little Bones was SO correct

Brambleclaw ABANDONING HIS CHILDREN is just never properly addressed. He was willing to cover up murder earlier in the book for Holly but the minute he finds out they didn't come out of Squilf he's like "nevermind"

He throws a tantrum for all of OotS and then, only at the end, when Squilf calls out that he's throwing his whole family away because he's mad at her, does he reconsider any of his actions.

I think he's entitled to being upset and having his negative emotions, but NOT in how he ended up treating all these people who have been nothing but adoring and apologetic towards him. But nope, no deeper reckoning with that, Squilf does a Cosgrove ass "Hey! Cut it out!" and that's it.

And Leafpool gets put through this too. Leafpool is now completely and fully considered their mom, comforting them as their parent post-reveal. She didn't raise them and yet it's just considered normal that she's the one with a bunch of emotionally soothing scenes with her biokits

Like... I love the idea of her finally being able to acknowledge something she's hidden for so long. But, these cats never saw her as a mother. She was their aunt and their whole life has been rearranged, the emotions they're facing towards this reveal are nothing but negative. Their "father" has also disowned them, treating their mother like shit, and Squilf is keeping her distance believing this is all her own fault.

The feelings here should be SUPER complicated, and that's really JUICY!! We were ROBBED of something waaaay more emotional because of this bizarre commitment to treating bioparents as always better than adopted ones.

OH and don't even get me started on how they needed to make Squilf pregnant with Bramblestar's kits in the end because they don't believe adopted kids are equal to bio ones, but also couldn't commit to making their precious Bramble into a bad person who remained adamant about cutting off all his old "family." Alder and Spark should have been Jessy kits and I'll die on this hill

(and also jessy should have cat divorced him after. and also commit to bramble being a toxic parent.)

Omg omg final thoughts about the show???? Olivia???? Nell????? the house???? Luke???

OMG okay okay so I have so many thoughts but the one at the very front of my mind is how the show seems to feel like it’s not centered on the ghosts or the haunting, but rather the trauma that came with it. I absolutely adored the framing of a haunting through the lens of childhood trauma and I absolutely loved how differently each of the characters dealt with it.

AND GOD olivia made me sad, but it’s also somewhat comforting that those who DID pass away, remain together somehow. fragments of themselves, sure, but together. I felt a lot for olivia and for the belief that somehow she was doing a service to her children (it reminded me a bit of oculus, if y’all have ever seen that film).

THE WAY MY JAW DROPPED when Nell realized that she had always been the bent neck lady…. MANNN and I SAW IT COMING TOO!!! but I still got major chills like… lord…

And luke… words cannot express the way I felt about him. I FELT his fear in his imagined scene in the hotel room, tricked into injecting himself with rat poison while CONSUMED by the fear that he would relapse again… man… I am so glad that he got sober.. and i feel so much for him bc as a twin.. losing my sister is one of my worst fears.

I wanna read some analysis of this series and sort of gather my thoughts and develop some theories. Maybe do a deep dive in specific details about the series but my initial impressions after the first watch through are that the show (and the writing, namely) is PHENOMENAL.

I really really loved how you could view the show through a traditional lens of a haunting, but also through that of mental illness inherited through families. The way the fall of their mother effective them through life and interpreting the haunting not as something supernatural, but rather as something hereditary. Not necessarily in a traditional sense either, but using the house as a metaphor for the trauma that often goes unnoticed in families… MANNNN!!!

DUDE what you said about everyone in pirates fighting for making the loudest joke. I remember several times Martyn had to go away for a few minutes bc he was getting overwhelmed. And like that´s not smth uncommon for him, but it got sooo bad during pirates events.

Also, as someone who watched a lot of Martyn´s pirates streams... Yh, I feel like he did quite a few fun projects and gags, and actually had a plot outside of the established lore and setting, but was online way too much compared to other people so lots of streams were completely uneventful. At least this time he has both rats and vault hunters (plus life series editing), so I feel he ll log in far less often

I think I am scared for rats 2 being another nothing burger as you said, but i m also hopeful bc the rats setting usually makes people act more silly. But i m also scared that the set being Paris makes everyone want to be dramatic. Idk

^^^^ yess pirate martyn was so. side charactered? I guess would be the word. It's a shame because I really think despite me taking the piss out of watcher lore he's one of the stronger roleplayers/storytellers in terms of MCYT.

And yeah I remember him distancing himself from the crowd fairly often and mannn I do get it I get it so hard. There were times during pirates where I felt overwhelmed with how many people were yelling over top of eachother and I wasn't even there or trying to say something. Especially as a kind of maybe former highschool theatre kid who's gone through the trying to be the funniest guy in the room phase it's very. cringe. not really any other word for it it's just cringe.

PARIS MAKES EVERYONE WANT TO BE DRAMATIC IS REALLY FUNNY. tbh I can't see it being all that different from season 1 cus I don't really see why they'd try to fix something that isn't broken (and my own pet theory rn is that they're bringing back rats since pirates' reception was so. so bad and instead of trying to figure out what went wrong they're going to assume people just hate innovation and dramatic storylines and go back to what they know will get a response but. whatever)

hey legend sorry for coming onto your ask to talk about my stuff but i kinda came up with it under a post of yours so i wanted to give an update (im the less fingers au person. that.that’s not the name. it doesn’t have a name yet. and only one of them has less fingers. anyways)

i said i was going to learn how to draw but in a twist no one saw coming i wasn’t able to master the art of art in a single day (rude) so in the meantime i’ve been writing shit down. and i accidentally have only thought about splinter. i haven’t decided a single thing about the actual turtles besides one of ‘em having a limb difference. on the other hand i have thought up my splinter’s entire backstory and am now emotionally attached to this middle aged rat man that only exists in my head. he is going to be the bestest dad you won’t even believe. and once the turtles start doing their own thing i Will give him a midlife crisis. this rat dad is going to have so many hobbies. mucho texto sorry legend love your au was exciting to see part 2 of the mind worm comic today. the way mikey tried to look at leo for help ahhhh.

that memory is when they're much younger, yeah, and its one of the first instances of Leo really having to choose between doing what his dad wants and his siblings. they're still at the age where they're kind-of-sort-of friends, I think. They're pretty young so whatever issues they have they tend to resolve themselves or just forget about. so Mikey is thinking that his brother, who his dad likes, could stand up for him!

But leo knows that's not how Splinter works, and doesn't think anything good will come of him trying to help Mikey. it still hurts tho :')
