I think the Majorwood shippers have something going actually. There's just something in a relationship between someone who has only known love and someone who has only known war.

Scott is always happy, always loved, always surrounded by people who care for him, Jimmy, Pearl, Cleo. Yes he's been hurt for his love, but it pushes him to cherish every fleeting moment.

Martyn is always at war, always caught in conflict. He's been a soldier, he's been abandoned, he's been heartbroken. People are always leaving his life, Ren, the southerners, Cleo, he's always left alone. It makes him bitter and spiteful.

And so to pair Scott and Martyn together is significant. It's like Ares and Aphrodite, war and love.

They both burn with a passion

Similar but not the same.

They both care too much. And it hurts. It hurts but what else can you do?

"Everytime I love, I get hurt" Martyn tells Scott.

And Scott nods, "I love a lot too. It does hurt."

"How do you do it? How do you keep loving knowing it might hurt again?"

Scott takes a pensive moment before answering... "Because." He says, "The thought that I might never love, or be loved, ever again? It is far more terrifying than the fear of being hurt again."

Martyn grips the red and white flag he carries around his waist. A banner to a kingdom long fallen. "What if I can't move on though? What if it just keeps hurting and hurting and never goes away?"

"It will." Scott promises, "one day the pain and anger will ease" He hugs his jacket closer to him, thinking of those pale slashes that cover his back. Matching scars he shares with Pearl.

One day the betrayal and abandonment ceased to ache. One day he did move on. He would help Martyn move on too.

Anyway, I think they would be good for each other. I think they could fix each other.

So I started thinking about Skypiea/Post-Skypiea Zosan last night...

and thinking about how there's no way that Sanji had an easy recovery with the full body burns he ended up with and I could see Zoro going out of his way to help Sanji out because Zoro has been there He's been seriously hurt and had to take care of himself and while Sanji has chopper, I think that Sanji would be similar to Zoro (If not worse because Sanji has a worse self image than Zoro) in that he would be afraid of worrying Chopper or being a burden and would try to do a lot on his own or act as if it wasn't that bad But Zoro would clock that shit immediately because he does it too And I think Zoro would also be able to tell when someone is moving differently because of pain or an injury But I think some of the things Zoro would do to help Sanji would be small like grabbing something for him so he doesn't have to move too much and hurt himself or making sure he doesn't spend too much time out in the sun and get dehydrated or over heated I think he'd try to get him to sit tf down more too which would be hard since Sanji is such a care taker and gets joy out of doing things for Nami and Robin (I think Robin would be more insistent that he doesn't do this during this time tho because she's suspicious that he's not totally healed/hiding the pain while Nami may not pick up on it right away, very much to Zoro's irritation) But I think he would also try to help Sanji in bigger, more meaningful ways too, like going out of his way to ask Chopper to each him how to change Sanji's bandages because he knows Sanji hasn't been going to Chopper when he needs too and he knows how hard it is to do something like change your own bandages, especially when in pain, because he's done it himself in the past and I think he'd know that it's something really vulnerable, so he'd be very gentle about it and not push too hard, but still insist that Sanji let him help And I think Sanji would be seriously blown away by how caring and gentle Zoro is being towards him He'd notice all the things he's doing and be really touched It's not like Zoro wasn't helpful on occasion in the past or never showed any care for when Sanji was hurt before, but I think that this being one of the first time Sanji got seriously injured and the fact that it happened because Sanji was trying to protect others would make a big difference to Zoro I think Zoro would know that Sanji really needed the help and would want to show how much Sanji and his actions meant to him

In my own little Zosan timeline, Skypiea is when Sanji sort of has to come to terms with/admit to himself that he has feelings for Zoro, but I think that he would assume that there was no way Zoro would feel the same way about him because how could he? but I think something like this would be a sort of "Oh...." moment where Sanji realizes that Zoro really cares about him but I also think it would make him really confused and conflicted (in my timeline at this point Zoro almost completely assumes that Sanji is straight and has come to a point of fully accepting that he and Sanji will never be together and he's okay with that, as long as Sanji is happy and he's still allowed to be a part of his life) Anyways.... just some Skypiea stuff I kept thinking about last night~ It'll probably make it into a fic one of these days if the universe would just give me some time to write o(-< I have a full scene in my head and I want to write it very badly, but the whole fic isn't fully cooked yet~

Just to be clear: there's actually no such thing as a "Roman salute"! While they did raise the right hand to symbolize power, it was always the authority figure, and never the masses hailing to that power. Orators of the time ascribe this gesture to be relaxed, not stiff, and never exceed eye level. The Augustus of Prima Porta is a good example!

The first example of this stiff, right arm outstretched gesture attributed to the Romans is from a French painter, Jacques-Louis David, in 1784. David used this several more times in his works, and other painters followed suit, eventually leading to the salute's apocryphal association with the Romans.

We, in the United States, adopted this gesture in the end of the 19th century, called the Bellamy salute, as part of the Pledge of Allegiance. By 1942, the Bellamy salute was disallowed due to its associations with fascism. In the meantime, it appeared in several movies, including 1914's Cabiria, with subtitles written by Gabriele d'Annunzio, an Italian nationalist. He then imported this to Italy, where it was adopted by Benito Mussolini's Fascist Party in 1925, and similarly by the German Nazi Party by 1926.

So, no matter what they say, there is no universe in which the "Roman salute" is not associated with fascism.

I was out hiking today, and my genius little brain thought up a genius little idea.

Remus, a person who hikes in the Peak District every Saturday bumps into sirius, a person forced to hike by his best friend James, who immediately feels their tension and gives them space to work it out on their own.

And Sirius starts going there every fucking moment he can, hoping he gets to talk to remus again bc that bay is DOWN BADDDDD. And finally, after going there for a whole ass week, he sees remus again on a Saturday and remus thinks that it’s just coincidence but he’s like so in love at this point that he blushes just seeing sirius. And Sirius figures out that remus only goes there once a week, but still goes there any time he can bc it reminds him of remus and gives him the feeling that he might be able to see him, maybe, just maybe. And then finally when they’re comfortable enough, sirius slips up and starts whining Abt how much he hates hiking and remus is like so surprised bc like “?? But I thought you came here every day to hike?” And then sirius goes bright fucking red and is just like “yeah, nah, ofc I was just joking, dw Abt it” and then remus gets a sense of hope that sirius was there just for him but then immediately squashes it bc we love a self deprecating king. And in the end, they kiss and live a very happy life with James feeling very fulfilled as a matchmaker.
