Another fun thing I do with customers - specifically parents of very small children who don’t know they’re alive yet - is directly imply I think the coffee is for the baby, not the parent. and lemme tell you, like 70% of parents eat that shit up. They immediately go along with the bit and start discussing it with their newborn child, while the baby just stares at us like 😮

I need everyone upset about Liam's promotion to understand that it had nothing to do with him being better/worse than Yuki. Yuki outperformed him. Yuki deserved the chance. BUT Yuki is not a Redbull driver. He is a Honda driver. He has no loyalty to Redbull and that is why he did not get a chance next to Max. It's not that he didn't deserve it. It's pure business.

Redbull are ending their relationship with Honda. They are creating their own engines. It's likely seen as a big liability to Redbull to have Yuki actively involved in any tests or even near anything involving the 2026 engine.

This is not an attack on Yuki or his character or anything like that, so please do not take it that way. But, Yuki's loyalty to a different engine manufacturer is a major risk to any new manufacturer like the Ford/Redbull powertrain. You just never know. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve a good drive, but Yuki's loyalty will forever be to Honda (as it should) and that poses a lot of risks for Redbull.

Once again, I am not commenting on Yuki's character or making assumptions about him when I say this, but there are a lot of big concerns if he gets promoted. He could ditch them for Aston immediately because Honda asks, he could share information about the new engine to Honda, or he could give questionable feedback that negatively impacts the new powertrain. Maybe he wouldn't do these things. But if there's even the most miniscule potential that he could, it would make any team hesitant. F1 is rampant with cheating allegations and questionable tactics to win. The teams will want to protect themselves in any eventuality. And that is what's working against Yuki so greatly.

Yuki has proven to be a very competent driver over the past year, but let's not forget that he nearly lost his seat in 2023 and the rumored reason he stayed is due to Honda. He owes his career to Honda, not Redbull. And at the end of the day, that's his main flaw within this team. It's not his driving. It's not his temper. It's not anything else. It's purely who he is aligned to poltically in the racing world. Is that fair? No. Is that how racing works? Unfortunately, yes.

I organized TH's bookshelf very deliberately. The bottom shelf, floor level, is for Activity books. Peek a flap, poke a dot, sensory books and similar. Stuff that TH can look at solo and get almost as much out of it as if I read it. The next shelf up is for carboard books suitable for bedtime stories. TH gets to pick one smallish toy and one book each evening, and then after I read the story TH decides which one to keep as a comfort item through the night. Paper books are too easily damaged, so they're not included on the shelf for bedtime stories.

The third shelf up is where the Jewish Children's Illustrated Bible and Sephardic Children's Stories and A Treasury of Jewish Folk Tales and similar are kept, and until recently they were too high for TH to reach.

Tonight, TH reached the third shelf and pulled down the illustrated bible, and asked me to read it. I reminded TH that it's Shabbat, which was met with great excitement. TH picked out the candles from the box in the kitchen, covered their eyes while I said the blessing, and giggled and chanted "Shabba Sha'om!" while I danced and bounced and tossed the babby like a (very heavy) ragdoll. They also gleefully announced "It's Shabbat!" while I was getting the candles set up to light.

And then we read the children's version of Beresheit. TH got very excited over the pictures of animals on the Fifth Day in particular. We almost made it to Gan Eden before the bedtime antsies got too severe, and it was time for TH to lie down and go to sleep.

I think we're going to read from the illustrated bible on Shabbat from now on, expanding our home observance now that TH is old enough to start to appreciate more.

I have played relatively little of both Sunless Skies and Sunless Seas, but I will occasionally say THE SUN THE SUN THE SUN as though I were some sort of superfan. Basically THE SUN is an infectious meme and it fucking got me good.

I don't want Jason as a declawed version of himself, all 'murder Is Wrong' and part of the batfam, but I also don't want him as an evil 'I blow up schools and shoot people for fun' villain.

I also once saw someone say a big part of the divesiveness here comes from how Robin!Jason and Red Hood!Jason are practically different characters. If you want villainous Red Hood, you make Robin Jason more aggresive, angrier, you make him more like what he'll become as an adult. And if you like Jaybin, you explain his murders and mistakes as side-effects of the pit and make Red Hood nicer and more agreeable, like how he wss before.

But I feel like both are a disservice to his character, but the 2 extremes of him are also really hard to reconcile.

like. specifically her hair. like yeah its another pin in her resembling quixote + taking over his role, but like also. maybe its just the way im looking at it, but it feels like another nod towards her neglecting Herself. not only becoming the role+image she feels she must take, but also casting aside her Own image in the process. its pretty, yes, but it also feels deeply out of place, in an Intentional way. it feels like disregarding something simple because it Shouldnt Matter That Much To Her. because its Unimportant and Frivolous. denying herself a simple happiness.

Catra being anxious and having panic attacks over the bad things she did is actually counter productive to any hypothetical scenario where she is self reflecting and/or receiving constructive criticism.

Her potentially having crippling anxiety over being an asshole in the past PREVENTS and/or DELAYS any changes she might potentially make.

Making this character spiral over moral dilemmas does not inherently mean she’s actively working to change her ways. Her being afraid of facing her badness does not make her good; it simply means she has anxieties toward constructive criticism/dialogue.
