One Fear

Elita wishes Optimus would stop adopting such fragile things.

We need more Autobots having absolutely no clue what to do with the overly friendly humans their friends have gotten attatched to.

More fear of accidentally dropping the squirmy little things and "oh god what if it jumps out of my hand???"

Something occurred to me when rewatching Elita-1's firing scene:

Right off the bat, she's presented as an absolute unit in the mines. We see her being a very by-the-book character. She's incredibly competent, strong, serious, focused, and an effective leader.

Maybe a little too effective.

We learn that Sentinel goes out of his way to personally take care of any "anomalies" in his system and does so in a way where the blame always gets shifted away from him.

It's why he personally went to see Pax and D-16 after the Iacon 5000 race. He makes himself out to be the open-minded, compassionate leader he's been parading as.

When Darkwing throws Orion and D-16 into sub-level 50, neither bot suspects Sentinel for their demotion. In fact, they beg Darkwing to talk to Sentinel so he can sort out the "misunderstanding".

It's later confirmed that Sentinel never had any intention of talking with Orion or D-16 after their first meeting. When Orion reunites with his fellow miners later in the film, they mention that Sentinel put out a statement saying that they both died from "racing injuries".

Sentinel might've not even openly ordered Darkwing to dispose of them. Darkwing might've been manipulated into thinking everyone was mocking him for losing the race (thanks to lowly miners) making him want to get rid of them.

Subconsciously manipulating someone like Darkwing would've been easy for Sentinel.

Sentinel clearly does not tolerate anyone rising above the station he imposes on them.

So what does this have to do with Elita-1 being fired?

We see her rigidly following the rules, meeting all quotas, running a tight and efficient crew. She's doing her job as a miner, a role unknowingly forced upon her by Sentinel, perfectly.

Shouldn't Sentinel be happy about that?

Well sure...

If Elita wasn't actively trying to get promoted.

We don't get a lot of information about how promotion works in TFOne's mining system, but we do know that in other iterations of pre-war Cybertron, one of the only ways miners could rise out of the mines was by participating in ridiculously difficult gladiatorial fights in Kaon's pits.

In other iterations, this was how D-16/Megatron was able to escape his station and how he grew to be so strong.

So basically, whatever version you look at, the miners are told "if you work really, reeeeally hard, and do your job perfectly, and don't die in the process (which, odds are, you will) you might, MIGHT get a chance to get out of the caste you were born into."

It's BS.

It's an impossible feat. No one is actually supposed to be able to achieve that goal, but it's the metaphorical carrot dangling in front of the work mules so they don't notice the ever-tightening rope around their necks.

But every so often there's someone extraordinary, like Elita, who actually manages to meet this impossible standard and with whom it becomes increasingly difficult to deny this coveted promotion.

So what can Sentinel do about bots like Elita-1?

Simple.

Wait for a screw-up.

It must happen eventually.

A member of Elita's team, Orion Pax, in clear violation of evacuation protocol, goes back into the mines to save Jazz from getting crushed to death.

Despite managing to escape, the closing mine causes a tunnel support to be flung into nearby machinery (which doesn't look critical and could probably be easily fixed).

Then, right the heck outta nowhere, Darkwing drops in, SECONDS AFTER THE INCIDENT JUST HAPPENED, and immediately fires Elita.

No "What happened?" or "Who's responsible?" or "The supervisor wants to see you", he just pops into the scene and demotes Elita, arguably one of the best workers in the mine, to a bottom-tier waste management position.

As if he'd been on standby, actively waiting for a reason to fire her.

"But Elita herself wasn't the one who screwed up!"

Doesn't matter.

"But she told them to follow protocol!"

Doesn't matter.

"But Orion admitted he was the one at fault!"

Doesn't matter.

"But a bot was saved! Jazz would've died!"

Does. Not. MATTER.

Her firing is presented as the typical "one character says thing won't happen then thing immediately happens" joke, but given how so much thought went into so much of TFOne's background details, I can't help but wonder if this was a hint to how broken the system was and how it was always rigged in a way that ensures the miners will never get out.

Not to mention, once Orion, D-16, and Jazz safely escape, she chews Orion out by saying, "If I get fired for this..." meaning this abrupt, out-of-nowhere, baseless firing is absolutely typical.

That's what makes Elita's "I'm better than you" speech to Orion that much more meaningful, because in many ways, she is better than him.

She's a better worker, better fighter, better at completing the task at hand, better at making sure things run smoothly. She is, ironically enough, an efficient and perfectly-running machine.

But had Orion not dragged Elita to the surface, she probably would've spent her whole life obediently following the rules, never questioning why things were the way they were. She was so focused on rising up within the system that she could never look beyond it.

Elita might be the cog by which other cogs turn.

But Orion is the spark that shows them a better way.

That's why he was given the Matrix.

How the Orion Pax arc would’ve went if Elita One was in TFP

Knockout: not to offend you or anything, my lord but why didn’t you take Prime when you had the chance? He had no memories except of which when you two were friends. It would’ve been a smart move.

Megatron: because if Elita learned I kidnapped her conjunx she would’ve burned down this entire ship and have our helms on spikes.

ok ummmm sOOo. This was a piece I made for @cookieclover 's dtiys, before I realized my artsyle is biblical metaphor 😔. The rules said that the general concept had to stay the same so I guess this doesn't really count, but I worked on this for a week straight instead of my homework so i thought id share xD. It was really fun to do tho and really helped me get out of my comfort zone.

Personally? I would like it if Elita's like a retired war veteran, cuz she had a higher toll of war trauma than Optimus. Still helps the Autobots, but mostly stays at base.

She and Optimus would take turns on Prime duties and government stuff, but not too often

Megatron would try not cause too much trouble if Elita takes over for the day

Adores the kids, friends with Fowler and besties with June.

Most likely is June's guardian

I can't help but think her alt mode is a pink van? I think it's cute!

Why did I make this?

She and Optimus would rather have more comfort cuddles than anything overly romantic.

Despite me wanting so bad Elita to be in the series, TFP is still very good.

It's just devastating that a character like Elita passes so early on. She absolutely deserves her own spinoff Transformers series for girls or smth.

Promises between friends

Promises are always made some of them being very true to heart, and other built on lies and betrayal. There are times when promise are built on happiness and truth between, the ones who make these promise pledging not to break these promises that were made.

y/n " ......." it was late at night as you are fast asleep when you felt, someone shaking you awake gentle. You had soon slowly opened your eyes, to see Orion pax standing there with a smile on his face.

y/n " orion"

Orion pax " good you are up come on we have to go get D-16"

y/n " umm okay" you are half way asleep and half way awake, as you soon followed after Orion pax as he went towards D-16 sleeping quarters.

y/n " you know I care for you orion and cherish you but do you think, it the best to do whatever you are doing right now"

orion pax " it will be worth it trust me y/n"

y/n " okay I trust you and you are going to need me for keeping D from hurting you" The pair soon reached the sleeping quarters of D-16 as Orion pax had went to go awake him up.

Orion pax " good you are up come along there is something I need to show you and tell you"

D-16 " huh" the two mech had come out of the room and soon meet you in the hallway. orion pax had lead the pair towards where he went to take them, soon showing them the Icon 5000 glowing signs by the statues.

y/n " the night is always so beautiful but there are times I wish to see, what life is like on the surface"

Orion pax " one day that shall happen and I along with D-16 will come with you, and we will all see the surface with everyone else here"

D-16 " do we ever break promises with you"

Orion pax " we should enter the Icon 5000"

D-16 " I'm going back to bed you have gone glitch y/n care to come with me" D-16 had looked at his friend trying to understand what, orion pax was planing right now. He soon looked at you ready to head back to bed.

y/n " okay tell us Orion"

D-16 " oh come on don't tell me you are encouraging this behavior"

y/n " well like the promsie I made years ago I always encourage my friends, and stand with them when they need help"

D-16 " look orion we can try but it will not work we can't transformer, how will we enter that race without having the ability of flight of driving"

D-16 " look it getting late and we should all be in bed we can go see the race tomorrow, as friends it will be fun and we also have the day off as well"

Orion pax " okay" D-16 soon walked away heading back to bed as you looked at orion pax, you soon placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.

y/n " I believe you and everyone else here will be able to change the world orion"

orion pax " thank you y/n"

y/n "Your welcome now come on let's head to bed tomorrow is a brand new day" Orion had nodded his head as the pair had soon went back to bed, not knowing tomorrow will be chnaging their lives. As both orion and D-16 had taken part on the race, and almost ending winning the race. They did help make change as they had imspired the miners and other cougless bots as well. That will soon ended up with them being sent to lowerl levels, meeting B-127 and finding a message from alpha trion.

hours later

Elita " I can't believe we are stuck all the way out here" you and elite had ran into the three mechs, as they were on the raining head to the surface. Which had lead on to many other events that lead to all four bots, being on the surface for the first time ever.

Orion pax " oh come on elite it can be fun"

elita " coming from zero from my last accident"

y/n " elita you have all reason to be mad right now, but right now we need to clam down and work as a team to get to primes and soon home as well"

Elita " fine I will work you with pax all because of y/n but if this fail I'm dragging you and two go bot back home, and you will give me a good view that highlight me in a good light and y/n as well"

orion pax " deal"

y/n "See when we work as a team everything will work out perfectly"

B-127 "it's so great to be out here with new friends" you had nodded your head at B-127 words as the group had started walking, with B and Elita at the front.

Orion pax " see D-16 everything is working out perfectly"

D-16 "yeah"

y/n "See if we promise to stay together when we are out here, everything will be fine as we need to stay united when we are out here for the sake of cyberton and the matrix of leadership" Two mechs had smiled at you as the trio had started walking, as they were following the map.

Orion pax " y/n is right as always, we have each other back out here we will be okay like we do in the mines"

Orion pax " Now come on, let's get going we are really doing this"

D-16 " I'm so glad to be out here with you with both this waa. great idea" you had nodded your head as the group soon started walking, on the journey that waa going to change all their lives from here on now. The promises that they had once made might never be the same, as eveyrone will go on different paths from here on now, relationships will not be the same either for most. Just maybe there might be some promsies and relationships will stand strong, even after that will come in the future.

Figuring Out Elita's Squadron in TFP Style

Tired of my girls being Iced, so here's my two cents at Elita and her Squad in the Aligned timeline. (Cleaned up Moonracer's design too)

AltModes:

Elita 1: Heavy Duty Monster Truck

Chromia: SUV (a model like Toyota Highlander 2005)

Moonracer: Sports Car (GT 2004 Mustang)

Firestar: Truck (Checy 2004 4x4 Dulli Truck)

Lancer: Cybertronian Jet (has not selected a Earth Alt Mode)

Greenlight: Cybertronian Speedster, heavily Modded (no Earth Alt)

Random Facts:

Elita 1's forces had been in charge of the remaining war front on Cybertron. When the planet died, she then changed her focus to securing Energon for her troops by any means necessary.

she and Optimus have had very little contact despite their roles in the war due to... personal complications (aggressively sideeye's the matrix)

Chromia has somehow managed to acquire a lot of of high grade energon she breaks out on occasion. Though to be perfectly honest, she's collects them more for the bottles than anything.

Ultra Magnus "stole"/requested Moonracer for her sniping skills. He had also hoped she would be a "good influence" to her fellow Wreckers, which she was, in fact, not. (Partake the contents of Moonracer's Party Box at your own Risk)

Firestar has a cassette/minicon/recordabot(?) named Flaregun who helps her scout for any sorry souls left to die or looking for aid. Flaregun (who has not taken a vow of silence) has an extensive collection of corny jokes from her caretaker and her conjuxes.

Lancer, despite being one of the Autobot's few aerialists, is typically cooped up in their headquarters tracking down/securing the next energon heist location (nearby Decpeticon Warships are not excluded) or working on her research

Greenlight, though not usually an active combatant, has incredible aim with the box of hand grenades she got as a graduation present form a former colleague all those cycles ago. She is currently researching how to increase the fuel efficiency of a cybertronian, both in their weapons systems as well as their general systems

Oh yeah. And everyone pictured is widely believed to be dead.

Transformers All-Spark: A Lil' Slice of Optimus and Elita

Today's warm up, featuring a slice of Orion and Aerial's dynamic once they become Optimus Prime and Elita-1 proper.

Optimus is bestowed upon him the Matrix of Leadership, continuing the long legacy of the Primes on Cybertron. Elita is named after her mentor, Leader-1, who bestows upon her a T-cog passed down from Guardian to Guardian since ancient times (yes this is a tiny bit influenced by @starimusprime 's bodyguard AU as well as story ideas from friends).

But inspite of all that... they're still REALLY young relative to their roles as leaders, and still kinda goofy when they want to be. It helps relieve the pain and tension, knowing that your dad/your bf's dad is Cybertron's greatest Tyrant.

And no matter what, Optimus will always, always be a MASSIVE history nerd.

Additional lore notes: In this AU, the 13th Prime is typically the bot chosen to weild the Matrix, though it does get passed on to other members as well. Nova Prime was the first Prime, and is known as Nova the Conqueror.

Stormreign meanwhile was leader of the original High Guard.

Why I feel Jack Darby isn't like Orion Pax/Optimus Prime

This is probably not gonna do me any favors in the wider Transformers community, but that's fine; I don't want to be in the good graces of half those people. Besides, I've grown to really dislike Jack over the years, and now that there's a new TF film that actually shows us Optimus and Megatron's past that has everyone cheering, I can actually cite that film in my argument should I encounter any whiners.

Fair warning, this will not be in Jack's favor.

So, as we see of him in Transformers: Prime, Jack had a really poor life. His dad is missing for reasons unknown, his mother is working herself to the bone to keep the roof over their heads, and Jack himself is working a horrid job to try and lift some of the burden from her shoulders. A standard modern day life for teenage boys, right? Oh, and don't forget him going all gaga over prissy cheerleader Sierra; that's of course the icing on the cake of this cut and dry trope, because the loser boy has to have a thing for the social climber girl who he can't recognize as trouble.

However, when he crashes into the Autobot-Decepticon War, Jack is adamant against getting involved. He whines about his new lot in life, complains that he just wants "a normal life", and overall is ungrateful to the Autobots that saved his skin a short time ago. Yes, he pulled through in the five part premiere and did so at other points in the first and even second seasons - but those were all life or death situations.

Every other time, Jack caved to peer pressure and stayed inside the lines. He never stood up to the school bully, let himself get embarrassed by said bully in front of Sierra, and then broke his deal with Arcee by going to an underground race. Heck, if you ask me, the only reason he helped save the bully in that episode was because Jack didn't want to have a dead guy on his conscience. Sure he said "it's the right thing", but where was that nobility when you were ogling your crush throughout the episode, hm?

And to say that he's like Orion Pax after all of the above is an insult to Orion and Optimus' integrity. Can you truly see Optimus whining over his lot in life, being spiteful and rude to guys who were mean to him specifically and not his friends, or just losing brain cells when a pretty girl is involved and getting himself into trouble in a misguided attempt to impress her?

No.

Orion/Optimus would never do that. He'll take the hits to himself and make the best of it with a smile on his face, he'll fight for his friends rather than himself alone, and even if he's head over heels for Ariel/Elita One, he won't compromise himself or his morals just to impress her. Orion/Optimus is better than that, and would never stoop to such actions.

But you know who would do all of that?

This guy.

As TF One shows, Megatron in his youth was much like - gasp - Jack Darby. They both kept their heads low to avoid further ridicule and pain, they never wandered outside the lines for fear of the unknown/repercussions, and despite advocating for a change or better life, they didn't really lift a finger to do that. They both needed an outside force to push them onto a new path. And they both ended up having a low chance of heroism when there was pressure on them: Jack's was anytime Sierra or Vince the Bully was involved, and Megatron's was when the 'Bot responsible for ruining his life and all of Cybertron's population was at his mercy.

Speaking of, what are the odds Jack would have a similar reaction to meeting his father? Yeah sure, he spared Megatron in S1, but Megatron also taunted him by asking what Optimus' response would be if he killed him. Put Jack in a position where he gets to beat up his dad, and are we sure that Optimus would still have that sway over him?

Just ask Sentinel, he can tell you how well that turned out when Orion Pax tried talking down D-16 - oh wait, you can't, because D-16 killed him.

Honestly, there are far more similarities between Jack and Megatron than Jack and Optimus. I'm tired of Jack getting all the love and being heralded as Orion-like or Optimus-like when he never was. He's far closer to Megatron, and if I'm the only one who can see that, fine. I don't care.

These are my observations, my beliefs, and I'm sticking with them.

Now on the same token (but coming later), Smokescreen actually has more in common with Orion Pax/Optimus Prime, something the new TF flick has shown, even if I disapprove of a chunk of the writing and characterization in it. But, given I'm probably setting some people's hair on fire, I'll leave you alone for now to digest this post.

Okay guys, im trying to stay positive with this movie. The animation, voices and background sounds and looks AMAZING

I just can't with the dialogue its so cringe and other things make me cringe as well but its a 50/50 for me 😭

BUT OTHERWISE IM SO EXCITED
