11 Reasons Why The Gilmore Girls Episodes Teach Me Tonight and Lost and Found Are Virtually The Same Story
1.Something happens to Rory that is troublesome but hardly life-altering (loses her bracelet/minor car accident) 2.Lorelai immediately dials the minor incident up to eleventy
3. Luke offers Jess' time & labor to the Gilmores behind his back/without his consent (and unironically declares Jess doesn't really need to be paid for either); In TMT he receives tutoring from Rory and in Lost and Found he performs manual labor for Lorelai (gutter slopping), both with little to no complaint, I might add. Lorelai reacts to these suggestions as if her very life is in peril. 4.The inanimate object at the center of the war was “made” by Dean (his car and his Quarter on A String) and both are of questionable monetary and sentimental value to Rory 5. Dean will get angry with Rory for something happening to her that was no fault of her own. One of Rory's deepest concerns in both episodes is Dean's reaction. 6. Lorelai steamrolls Rory's feelings about the incident and insists Rory is in shambles when Lorelai is the one who cares waaaay more about what happened than Rory does. 7. Both the accident and the lost of the Quarter on A String were not due to Jess intentionally setting out to hurt Rory or even to piss off Dean. The car accident was just that, an accident. Lorelai reacts to the accident like it was attempted murder and the "theft" as grand larceny. 8. Lorelai defends Dean in both episodes (she has the nerve to suggest that Dean would never get into a car accident? how she knows this is unclear) 9. Lorelai Gilmore, 33 year old mother of one, declares war on a teenage boy 10. Jess Mariano contemplates where his life went wrong and quietly wishes he was still living with his negligent alcoholic mother and her parade of abusive boyfriends (oh, right, that actually happens after TMT). 11. Lorelai becomes enraged with Luke for "forcing" Jess and Rory together, even though (1) they are friends who hang out on their own and (2) Lorelai literally gave permission for both the gutter-slopping and tutoring (thank you @sarabethsilver) Lemme know if I missed anything else!

Teach Me Tonight- Chapter 5
School is back in session after the Thanksgiving break and both Jess and Rory feel the worst of the Winter Ball come up. The fundraisers come in, parents dutifully send in funds, they have to curb the students’ certain fantasies (bringing swans as part of the décor like in Father of the Bride kind of fantasies). But all in all, it is shaping up perfectly. And all the while, Jess feels sentimental about it. Truth be told, he enjoyed the process. Maybe, he’d even go further to say that getting to Rory more during this process was the highlight of the entire thing. He got to know more about her than what he would’ve known on a normal basis, and that thrilled him. But then as the last week of torture- the week of the Winter Ball rolls around- he can’t help but feel a little bit despondent, given that he won’t have an excuse to talk to Rory, outside of their merged class or a reason to meet her during the lunch break. The sentiment is especially poignant as he walks into the classroom where the last dance committee meeting is taking place. Everything’s arranged – the ballroom at a nearby hotel is booked, the deejay arranged, decorations bought and paid for – now all that needs to be done is to figure out who’s doing what to help with the setup on Saturday. Jess knows he needs to be there regardless of what duties he ends up assuming. On the work front, he’s finally done with the first draft of the third Dodger Bishop book, but that doesn’t mean he’s out of the woods. His editor, Amir, a Middle Eastern man who had adept skills as an editor, would pick apart every little detail and that process often turned out to be the most painful. And then would come the book launch, where Jess would be at his utmost worst, given that women would throw themselves at him left, right and centre, and then executives would hound him in order to create novelizations of his book series. “Hey, you ok?” The sound of Rory’s voice startles Jess out of the problems swirling in his head and he looks over to see Rory sitting down in her usual seat right next to his. Jess shakes his head a bit, to clear his thoughts and gives Rory a smile that he knows is a little tight. “Yeah, yeah, everything’s fine. Just…a little frazzled, you know? Got a lot going on.” His heart can’t refrain from skipping a beat at the sight of the soft, sympathetic smile that Rory flashes in his direction. “Probably can’t wait for thing to be over, huh?” Jess lets out a groan that would have been indecent if it weren’t tinged with so much exhaustion. “You have no idea,” he says, slumping a bit. “I’m exhausted.” Rory frowns, eyebrows arching downward. “You gonna be ok to help out during the dance on Saturday?” Jess straightens up and nods. “Oh, you’re not getting rid of me that easy, Gilmore,” he says, grinning despite his exhaustion. “I bought a new suit and everything and I’ll be damned if I’m gonna miss out on seeing you in a dress.” Rory returns her grin, but it’s a little dopey and the sight does funny things to Jess’s heart. “You can’t wait to see me in a dress? My, I wonder how you’ll be when I’m wearing a new dress.” They’re surrounded by the dance committee students, the room filled with the sounds of their voices as they start to get the meeting underway, but Jess still hears Rory’s words, soft-spoken and almost hopeful and, if they weren’t in front of a dozen students, Jess doesn’t know if he’d be able to stop himself from leaning over and kissing her. “You bought a dress?” Rory reaches up and grabs a lock of her own hair, twirling the strand around her index and middle fingers, and Jess can see her face warm with a mild blush. “Well, more like my mother made my dress,” she says, trying to keep her voice steady. “but it’s a fact- I’m a woman and embrace any and every opportunity to wear a new dress.” Jess huffs out a small laugh, shaking his head a bit. “Sorry, my mistake,” he says just as Laura, in her role as Student Council Treasurer and chair of the dance committee, calls the last meeting to order.

What I find most funny about Lorelai's abhorrent behavior in Teach Me Tonight is that her daughter is in the hospital with a broken arm, Lorelai goes to see her, and then...leaves her alone, injured, at the hospital for an hour and drives to Stars Hollow so she can track down Luke and scream at him.
First of all...imagine the hospital parking fees she's willing to brave to make this her priority. Second... seriously, Lorelai? This couldn't have waited an hour? You leave your kid at the hospital while she's hurt so you can go yell at Luke over a stupid car accident?
And then when she doesn't get the answer she wants from him, then and only then does she reach out to Christopher. It's not because he necessarily needs to know right then and there, but because Luke is her primary support system, and only when he's not an option does she attempt to turn to Christopher.

‘...8 Teach Me Tonight - Season 2, Episode 19
Jess and Rory's relationship spends most of season 2 in a constant state of flirtation. Things finally reach their boiling point in the nineteenth episode, "Teach Me Tonight;" Rory tutors Jess but he convinces her to go for a ride in his car instead. When the two get into a minor car accident, Lorelai loses her mind and lashes out at Luke, who sends Jess away from Stars Hollow.
"Teach Me Tonight" is a major turning point for the show. Featuring one of Lauren Graham's strongest performances, the episode features a deterioration in Lorelai and Luke's relationship, leading her to realize how important he is to her. It also marks the return of the dreaded Christopher and Jess' momentary absence. Dramatic but never over-the-top, "Teach Me Tonight" is Gilmore Girls at its best.
7 They Shoot Gilmores, Don't They? - Season 3, Episode 7
TV has had its fair share of quirky towns, but Stars Hollow has a special place. The singular town was charming and cozy, organizing numerous bizarre but endearing events that made many want to move there. Season 3's "They Shoot Gilmores, Don't They?" includes one of these curious events, the 24-hour dance marathon Lorelai wants to win.
The episode is funny, with Lorela's desperation to beat Kirk making for a hilarious hour of entertainment. More importantly, Rory and Dean break up, allowing her to finally get together with Jess after one-and-a-half seasons of build-up and teen drama. With the townies' antics and a healthy dose of drama, "They Shoot Gilmores, Don't They?" is an all-timer.
6 Those Are Strings, Pinocchio - Season 3, Episode 22
Rory's graduation is a momentous occasion for the Gilmore Girls community. Season 1 begins with her enrolling in the prestigious school, meaning audiences were on this journey with her; seeing her achieve so special felt incredible, especially for what it meant to her mother and her grandparents.
Although her graduation speech is cheesy, it's worth it if only because of Kelly Bishop and the late Edward Herrmann's reactions. The episode also includes Rory and Jess' official break-up after he walks out on her. Jess might've been a great boyfriend to Rory, but his selfishness and inability to express his feelings eventually sabotage their connection. Still, "Those Are Strings, Pinocchio" is a crucial Gilmore Girls episode that fans have surely watched multiple times.
5 Last Week Fights, This Week Tights - Season 4, Episode 21
Liz and T.J. were somewhat annoying guest characters, but they are the right kind of oddballs for Stars Hollow. Their Renaissance-themed wedding is also surprisingly sweet, especially because it sets the stage for Luke and Lorelai's first dance.
Moreover, "Last Week Fights, This Week Tights" is a milestone in their relationship, as Luke finally grows a pair and asks Lorelai out after four whole seasons. Their first dance to Sam Phillips' "Reflecting Light" was perfect, so much so that the song was brought back a decade later for their wedding in A Year in the Life...’

One thing I haven't stopped thinking about is that scene where Ed and Stede dine and dash and we get that glimpse as they run off giggling. Because really, more than the hopeful reunion, the soft confessions, more than the anger and bitter jabs, that moment was a glimpse into who they'll be as a couple.
Just a couple of chaos gremlins doing whatever the fuck they want and giggling the whole time, because when they're together the rest of the world fades away, its just them and their silly little whims.

I was in the car yesterday and passed a guy trying to manage a dripping cone while he drove and the reference had me giggling immediately.
Sadly, he was... not Jess.
Literally just had the "We have ice cream here," "Yeah, but I want to get it in a CONE!" conversation with my father-in-law. 😂

There's something so special about s2-3 Rory and Luke being uniquely united in their love for Jess. If no one else is going to care for their boy, at least they know the other will.

Summer Surprise
Request: Roy/Teacher fic where he’s helping her cope with the insanity of the end of the school year? Roy Kent x Teacher!Reader Warnings: Language, flirting, established relationship, mentions of drinking, references to smutty things 0.8k words
Teach Me Tonight Masterlist
The door hadn’t even closed behind you before a loud groan heaved out of your chest. Two more weeks, you reminded yourself as you slouched against the wall. Two more weeks of kids and parents and pretending that anyone in your classroom was still remotely interested in any sort of work or learning. Two more weeks, and then you’d finally be able to sleep in, be able to think about things other than grading and lesson planning, be able to pee whenever you wanted, and, perhaps most important of all, be able to focus all of your attention on-
“Rough day with the eight year olds?”
Another sigh- a dreamier one now- slipped past your lips as you took in the sight of Roy, popping his head in from your kitchen, eyebrow quirked and spatula in hand. What a sight for sore eyes, you thought as those sore eyes unabashedly trailed down his figure, taking in the way that black t-shirt clung to him, especially those arms you liked so much. When your gaze returned to his face, you found a knowing smirk; as always, he’d caught you ogling him.
A shy grin graced your own face as you dropped your bag to the floor with a satisfying thud and hurried over to Roy. He chuckled and held your chin gently so he could greet you with a tiny kiss. When you pulled back, you kept your eyes closed and took a deep breath; you could smell some sort of tomato sauce, a hint that Roy had already started making some sort of yummy dinner for the two of you.
“Why don't I grab you a glass of wine,” Roy offered, “and you can relax while I cook my girl a proper meal?”
“Perfect,” you sighed as you melted against him. “Sounds perfect.”
Soon enough, you were leaning on the kitchen counter, sipping from a generous glass of the expensive wine Roy liked to bring over and watching the man move about, chopping ingredients and tossing them into the pan that sat on the stove. He kept glancing over at you, offering small smiles and winks that had you grinning into your glass. Even without words, Roy Kent could always manage to make you blush.
But his growling voice always managed to make your cheeks feel like absolute fire. “I've got a surprise for you,” he announced. He nodded towards an envelope on the counter, the envelope you'd been eyeing but hadn't asked about. “Was going to wait til after dinner but…” His toothy grin told you he was too excited to wait, something he couldn't bring himself to say out loud. “Anyways. Go on, open it.”
After shooting Roy a curious look, you picked up the envelope and pulled out the paper inside. You skimmed it quickly, raising your eyebrows as you read.
“A holiday?” you blurted out, your own smile widening to match Roy's. “You want to go on holiday together?”
Roy's grin turned bashful now as he focused his attention back on dinner. “Only if you want to,” he quickly clarified. “I know your summers are sacred, and I don't want to you feel like I'm forcing you to make plans you don't fucking want, and-”
A squeal slipped past your lips as you wrapped your arms around his waist. “It's perfect,” you assured him. “Honestly, just what I need after the year I've had.”
A content- or maybe relieved?- little sigh exhaled from his chest as he wrapped an arm around your shoulder and kissed the top of your head. “Good,” he grunted. The sparkle in his eye betrayed the enthusiasm he often covered with his brusque tone. “We leave a week after your last day. Then it's just you-” Another kiss landed on top of your head. “-me-” Another kiss. “-and whatever the fuck we want for three weeks.”
“Whatever the fuck we want,” you echoed with a giggle.
At the sound of the swear you uttered, Roy tightened his grip on you. “Say that again,” he mumbled into your hair, his voice starting to thicken with excitement.
You rolled your eyes; you had yet to figure out Roy’s fascination with you and swearing. “Maybe after dinner,” you teased.
Now it was Roy’s turn to roll his eyes. “After dinner,” he scoffed, “you are going to plop yourself on the couch with some romantic comedy and grade a million fucking things until I practically beg you to come to bed and get some fucking sleep.”
“That’s the end of term for you,” you sighed as you picked your wine glass back up. “I’ll be thinking of nothing but the kids for the next two weeks.”
That little smirk began to reappear. “And after that…?”
“After that,” you conceded with your most wicked grin, “Whatever the fuck we want.”
