TDS on Rent Payment: How to Calculate and Deduct Tax on Rent Paid?

What is TDS?

The TDS concept was introduced to collect tax from the source of income itself. According to this idea, a person (the deductor) who must pay another person (the deductee) a specified payment type must withhold tax at source and remit it to the Central Government. The deductee from whose income tax was withheld at source would be entitled to receive credit for the amount withheld based on Form 26AS or a TDS certificate issued by the withholding agent.

TDS Rate Applicable on Rent

The person who must pay TDS on rent payment must deduct tax at source (i.e., not an individual or HUF). TDS on rent limit for FY 2022-23 is Rs. 2, 40,000.

An organization might pay Rs. 90,000 per month to rent an office, for instance. Since the annual rent exceeds the cap, after a 7.5% tax is deducted, each month, the owner receives a credit of Rs. 83,250. It is necessary to pay the government the remaining sum.

How is TDS on Rent Calculated?

The amount owed must be calculated to determine if a rent payment is subject to TDSon rent paid by the individual. The payee is required to figure out the TDS rate for rent and reduce the amount of the annual amount exceeding Rs. 2,40,000.

Akshar Enterprises, for example, makes monthly payments of Rs. 35,000 for equipment. They are increased to Rs. 4,20,000 per years in rent. The payee must therefore deduct Rs. 525 ($1.5%) or 1.5% TDS on rental income.

The payer is responsible for making TDS on rent deductions. If they don't, they must pay interest starting on the day the tax is deductible and continuing until the tax is deducted at a rate of 1% each month. The payer must pay interest at a rate of 1.5% per month from the day the tax is deducted until the day it is deposited if they reduce the TDS on the rent amount but fail to remit it to the government.

How to make a TDS Payment?

Visit the NSDL website to start the e-filing process.

 In the TDS/TCS area, choose "CHALLAN NO./ITNS 281". Your browser will take you to the e-payment page.

Enter the following information on this page.

● If you deducted TDS while paying a firm, choose "Company Deductees" under "Tax Applicable." Otherwise, choose "non-Company Deductees."

● Type in the assessment year and TAN for which the Payment is being made.

● Type the "Pin Code" and choose the "State" option from the drop-down menu.

● Decide whether to pay for TDS on rent deducted and paid by you or TDS assessed regularly.

● Select "Nature of Payment" and "Mode of Payment" from the drop-down menu.

● Push the "Submit" button.

After submission, a confirmation screen will appear. The confirmation screen will show the taxpayer's complete name as it appears in the master document if the TAN is valid.

After the data you entered has been confirmed, you will be taken to your bank's net banking website.

After logging in to the net banking website with the user's name and password provided by the bank, the taxpayer should proceed to complete the Payment.

When an electronic payment is made successfully, a challan counterfoil with the CIN, payment information, and bank name is presented. This counterfoil is evidence of the transaction's Payment. You must file your TDS return after making the TDS payment.

Brick total drama

Brick McArthur Headcanons (Total Drama)

Going off a pride post I saw on Twitter last month, there was a fair bit of critical analysis arguing that Brick could be trans. Largely with his conflicting interests and how they're shown in the actual show (fashion, military, discipline, etc.) I think he does have something in that ballpark, but unlike what one may believe, I think he's incredibly comfortable with it post-TDROTI--- he's a he/they icon who dresses as he pleases! (Exhibit A: STRESS COUTURE!)

Additionally, I think him, Anne-Maria and Dakota were able to bond over fashion, and the two of them are his go-to second opinions when it comes to anything he designs

He is a SCHEDULER, and I mean this in the most extreme way possible. He likes to have a set routine, but also proper direction, so he has an incredibly detailed calendar with ALL of his tasks.

His fear of the dark came largely from the influence of other cadets and the soldiers at his camp, because this is an easily influenced man with notable weaknesses and he is gullible!! I imagine the typical campfire ghost story scene.

Despite the tension after ROTI, he managed to keep contact with Jo and Lightning. Their rivalry became a lot friendlier after the competition, and Brick frequently helps them plan outfits they'd be comfortable in! (ex. Jo's discomfort with overly feminine things and Lightning's physical changes thanks to the finale)

He takes his mom out to dinner at least once a month :)! They have a couple places they frequent and the staffs know them by name.

His internal clock and compass are extraordinary, he always knows which direction he's going and can estimate the time by how he's feeling.

Brick is the most AWKWARD person to be in a car with, purely because his driving routine alone involves him BLASTING confidence anthems and classic shower tunes and him PASSIONATELY singing along, which he actively does not do if he's with anyone else. (He refuses to turn on the radio sometimes when he has passengers in case they're accidentally blasted with ABBA or Katy Perry. It has happened with Jo once. He has never recovered.)

He does not know how to use chopsticks properly. He tries, oh he tries, but he just can't get the hang of it. But he never asks for a fork instead, just extra napkins :,)

He uses mugshots of Chris McLean as target practice (and used them when he was teaching Jo and Lightning to shoot recreationally) (its very good therapy) (especially after all stars)

Thoughts on Owen? I’ve been rewatching the og 3 seasons and seeing the change from finalist to gag character is weird

Owen is my Roman Empire.

He started off as an actual character in Island, which is a given since he was pre-determined to be a finalist from the get-go. Owen's always been a big personality of the series, with his (sometimes overbearing) friendliness and boisterous attitude, accompanied by his many many character flaws. But, at least in Island, he was realistically written- or as realistic as the show could do, given its parameters. He gets to have moments where he actually forms bonds and friendships with others on screen, and where his character flaws actually impact the challenge instead of being played off as jokes (like him luring in a bear with his hunting stories).

Owen's character traits were gradually reduced from being an optimistic and somewhat naïve, but otherwise standard teenage boy (of the time) to being a flanderisation of a golden retriever. In World Tour especially, he's rarely given any lines that don't somehow relate to his love of food, his flatulence or his fear of flying. For the span of an episode or two, he gets to focus on his feelings for Izzy (and he also gets some throwaway lines about his friendship with Noah and his trust-turned-distrust of Alejandro), but otherwise he's pretty self-contained as comedic relief.

He stops being a multi-faceted character and starts being a one-dimensional imitation of himself. And it's a shame, since Owen's one of the funniest characters to both watch and write for, so stripping him of a lot of his substance for the sake of delegating him to the role of background character, instead of just eliminating him early (since he didn't really have any use in World Tour outside of his aerophobia "plotline" and Izzy's elimination), seems like a waste of both his character potential and the potential of others.

And, one thing I noticed upon re-watching Island, even his voice becomes a sort-of mockery of what it started out as. No shade to Scott McCord, he does a fantastic job with his VA work- especially on Total Drama, where his characters are all distinctly different sounding. But really, go back and listen to Owen in early Island, and then listen to him in WT or RR- that's an entirely different cadence. He loses a lot of the scratchiness in his voice, and it raises a solid three or four semitones into something almost childish- once again playing into Owen's erosion from a fairly normal teenage boy into the caricature of naivety he eventually becomes.

We do get to see some of his original characterisation shine through in certain moments- there's a few lines he has in WT where Owen gets to be a little sassy or even somewhat confrontational, which is such a breath of fresh air from his usual airheaded happiness or aerophobia-fuelled terror. But he loses a lot of his season one charm with his delegation to the background; show me the Owen who's fun-loving, sure, but also a bit of a menace! Show me the Owen who's more than just the butt of a joke (pun intended)!
