like him and his parents make food for your family and make sandwiches and stuff, and he claims it's the least he can do

always inviting you over for dinner!!!! you two spend a lot of time playing baseball in his backyard or watching shows on his racecar bed and he lets you take all the food you want

always coming up to you during school asking if you want to hang out at his place!!! sometimes the other dudes hang out with you too and it just becomes a full blown party if his parents aren't home

at lunch he always brings a little something for you; whether it be a little snack or a drink or something he'll always think of grabbing something for you while packing his lunch

he does feel bad, so he generally tries to make everything easier on you. little things like picking up your dropped books or holding a door open for you. they're small little gestures, but it's how he shows his care!!

he doesn't really think about your financial situation often, but if you mention something to do with it or it becomes apparent or something he might think about it for awhile

he knows he can't really do anything, and it isn't his place to really feel bad, but he can't help but contemplate it, esp if it's got you feeling down

i can see him being the type of person to anonymously give you things, like if your stomach rumbles in class and you mention you didn't have a good breakfast, he might buy something from the vending machine and leave it on your desk

or he asks his mom if he can send you money in the mail (his mom thinks it's adorable that he cares) u two also have lots of sleepovers and his mom makes snacks for you!!

other than that, he doesn't treat you differently. though he does get upset when cartman harasses you over it

he might just deadpan at you whenever someone cracks a joke about you or him being poor. he is sick and tired

sometimes you two go to the forest and skip rocks at starks pond just to get out of the house, especially if your home situation is like his.

always coming up to you once school gets out to see if you wanna go hang out with the guys or just take a walk with him or something. you two hanging out is like a win-win-win, you get to hang out with him, he gets to hang out with you, and you both get out of your homes for a bit!!

you two use puppy dog eyes to get the others to pay for your shit when eating together and then giggle mischeviously about it

he doesn't really think much of it at first, like he hears people joking about you being poor all the time but he never really gave it a second thought

although he might think about it when you ask to stay at his place for the night, and suddenly he feels kinda guilty

lets you eat as much food as you want from his pantry & fridge, and he lets you take stuff home sometimes. not all the time though because even he can't afford you sneaking around his kitchen all the time (but he lets it slide more often than he'd like to admit)

probably pokes fun at you with the other guys except he's just joining in with them and has no idea what they're making fun of you for💀

he actually really enjoys sleepovers, especially with all of his friends!!! so you and him end up having a lot of slumber parties with the rest of the dudes. cartman's group refers to your sleepovers as "their gay orgy night" or "circle jerk sesh"

he forgets a lot like he never really pays your situation any mind unless it becomes apparent or you bring it up. like if you haven't washed in awhile he wonders why you stink and then he's like oh yeah and offers to sleepover so you can finally shower

rachel and i joked the other day that he actually has the least-messy background of everyone in the au LOL.

comes from a big family that worshipsss him as the oldest boy. enlisted to begin with because he was one of those kids that grew up wanting to be in the military falling for propaganda lol since he was old enough to watch army movies with his dad.

but worry not he’s not without some hurt. i’ve mentioned it in passing that he loses it on croz in bagram when he’s unfaithful to the extent that douglass has to quite literally tear him off of him. which- yeah he probably deserved that. but a lot of how angry benny got was stemming from his own hurt about finding out a few months before hand that the girl he left back home was cheating on him <\3.

which really really hurts him. had known her since middle school, been dating her since not long after and thought she was gonna be it for him and now it’s just over and she didn’t love him like he was so sure she did.

he becomes a lot more internal and Quiet after all that. is good friends with john and gale because he’s known them since they were in africa before bagram and talks to douglass quite a bit too because they’re bunk mates. but outside of that just keeps his head down, does his job and tries to focus on nothing but what’s right in front of him. to varied success.

after the war he moves back to new york and works in finance <3 my liddol sweet finance bro <3 kinda tapers his communication with the others because he just feels. Weird re: the military and his time in it and all the little butterfly effects it had on his life. doesn’t completely ghost them, but doesn’t stay in touch as much as some of them do.

until curt more or less becoming douglass’s minder (after the shit w/ him getting discharged) kinda implodes. and next time jamie is calling curt saying he needs to be picked up from the precinct downtown curt calls benny to ask if he’d mind grabbing him instead.

benny who didn’t even know jamie was discharged, hurt and back in nyc.

Badeea Ali has really bad environmental allergies. She has to take allergy potions before Care of Magical Creatures and Herbology

Skye Parkin has a nut allergy and didn’t realize for way to long she just thought nuts were spicy

Ben Copper and Jae Kim are lactose intolerant

Badeea has undiagnosed autism, she’s an 80’s kid and the child of immigrants.

Badeea was the first in her family to be born outside of Egypt, her father immigranted when her half brothers were small and her mother immigranted as a young woman

Tulip is the heaviest sleeper ever. Charlie Mosley and Badeea have to flip over her mattress to wake her up when she over sleeps

She sleeps through that as well

Barnaby is epileptic due to a TBI he got as a child

He mostly has absence seizures, once or twice a year he might have a tonic-clonic seizure

He keeps this a secret, since he’s embarrassed of having brain damage

Chiara is the only one that knows he’s epileptic and she helps him when he has a seizure

Reggie Tonks (Nyphmadora’s younger brother) actually became friends with Ismelda Murk due to both of them being a bit satanic

Reggie loves to test out his new spells and Ismelda likes to cause pain so she helps him get victims test subjects

Badeea does technically have an anglicized nickname, B. She’s mostly called this by the other Ravenclaws.

Amelia and Badeea bond over the fact both of them don’t speak English at home.

I'm gonna ramble about my creepypasta AU from like 2012-2014ish I used to rp with a friend over my flip phone bc we where GENUINELY just insane <3

Some key things to keep in mind: we didn't really watch marble hornets at this time so masky and hoodie where (unfortunately) very much old fanon the rare few times they showed up. A lot of this AU was influenced by old deviantart web comics, mainly Pasta Monsters and The Seer. And lastly, we where like 12 when we made this so don't expect high art 💀 you're allowed to laugh bc genuinely it's so awful

This AU MOSTLY was centered around our OCs (of course). Mine was Banana, a repurposed warriors OC 💖 of course in usual middle schooler fashion, she was immortal and couldn't die, and she knew every single creepypasta amd everyone knew her and she was some special proxy y'all know the deal, if I remember to draw her again I'll rb or something with her bc I still love her dearly <3

Some key things abt this AU that I can remember off the top of my head in no specific order:

- Slenderman didn't have a mansion, he instead had an entire castle?? I have no clue why we decided a castle but that's what he had

-no one but slenderman lived in this castle. Not even his proxies, everyone else has their own houses, except Banana who has a big tree that grows diamond fruit

-how do people not fond a massive castle out in the forest? Easy. It's not in the forest, there's an entirely seperate realm they all live in and you access it by a random portal in the woods

-we genuinely deligated Masky and Hoodie to just sorta babysitting this portal. Actual proxy work? Never heard of it, they just watch a portal for days on end. Expect Masky sometimes, he got to babysit Banana because she caused ✨️problems✨️ constantly. We very much characterized his as the shy uwu nervous Masky the entire time

-proxies got their special proxy names Via warriors cats naming ceremony, we had a moment with another OC that was an extended rp of this moment. I do not know how we talked abt it like it was the most serious and genius thing in class the next day

-Jeff was one of the most prominent characters, he did not like Banana what so ever and she at some point made it her life goal to be the most prominent nuisance in his life. Multiple times as some form of punishment for both of them causing some issue or just fighting in general, Slenderman would make them go live together in the human world as normal people in suburbia or some shit. This happened VERY often and I choose to still use this plot point as the set up for conversations and jokes about them to this day

-the neighborhood they lived in was completely oblivious to the fact that these where two known serial killers, EXCEPT one of their neighbors who was hell bent on exposing them. No one believed her ever.

-how do they live as normal people? Tbis is where the pasta monsters influence comes in, I believe it was called an illusion form in that comic? Whatever it was called, that's the logic we used. Jeff looked like a Normal Guy and Banana instead of being a cat, was in fact a human girl, who for whatever reason we decided kept getting mistaken for some random orphan girl named Daisy

-despite this AU taking place in (at the time) modern times, old times orphanages and asylums where still in operation and was another very prominent plot point we used (to the extent of the knowledge we had as 12 year Olds of these places) banana and Jeff ended up in the asylum in padded rooms and straight jackets a lot

-this has no bearing on the plot what so ever but I know we referred to the police as "the popo" and ONLY the popo for the entire duration of the rp. All 2 or 3 years of it.

While I was in the shower I joked “haha what if there was a baru cormorant and severance crossover” and then I thought a bit harder and honestly. It makes sense. Which is so scary. Baru has had enough of government failing to take any action against lumon (who was behind the injuries/deaths of her parents and the harm done to her community), and decides to infiltrate them to destroy them from within without them even knowing they were ruining their company but in order to reach a high enough position of power to do that, she has to first be severed. And her innie has no idea what her outtie is planning and is like Helly and wants to get out but a bit more subtly, and outside Baru has to figure out how to sneak messages to her without anyone else knowing so they don’t compromise the plan. Which manages to incorporate the whole “traitor” motif perfectly, she doesn’t know she’s betraying herself or others or not, they both have different motives, and you also capture some of her TBI and having a separate consciousness she’s completely unaware of in the next 2 books. Of course the other severed are all the dukes and duchesses from book 1, with the convoluted alliances you’d expect, and the management would be the cryptarchs. The clarified are definitely in there somehow, maybe they’re a separate department of people with cutting edge cyber punk implants they’ve been doing tests on (I’m not far enough in the series to know what actual depraved shit they’re up to, but I’m fairly certain they’re a biotech place). Aminata is Baru’s best friend + crush that’s a security guard at Lumon, but is basically blackmailed into spying on her because they’re suspicious of her intentions. Obviously her outtie gets with Aminata and her innie like, I don’t know, fucks Tain Hu in a storage closet. Since Traitor is so brutal with how it ends and I can’t possibly hope to capture that, I would just see it ending with them all being reintegrated safely and baru having TWO wives.

May I present: An argument for why my WoTshow friends may enjoy watching Babylon 5

As we settle in to wait 2 years for more content, a tale as old as time, I realize that some of you may not have seen Babylon 5. And I also realized recently that there is a surprising amount of overlap between the two of them. So, here are my arguments as to why you should give Babylon 5 (Known henceforth as B5 in perpetuity) a shot if you've not watched it before, or maybe tried a long time ago and bounced maybe try it again. Presented in no particular order. World Building: I hear you like worldbuilding. Boy HOWDY does B5 have world building. Everything is built up from the get go. There will be important plot relevant events happening in the final season that directly are caused or effected by events in the first season. And at no point does it feel like "Hey, I hear you like thing. Remember thing? Here's thing!" Everything feels like a natural extension of something that came before. And given that it was made in a time when everything was made for syndication, this is a very tough line to balance, but they manage. Things are pretty real for a sci-fi show: Things don't always just get wrapped up in a nice clean package. Wars may end but they have consequences. Both personal and geopolitical. Iconic Duos: We've all seen the joke about "Name a more iconic duo than the wondergirls and TBI", but I kinda always say "Londo and G'kar" in my head. I don't say it out loud cause I don't want to ruin a good joke, but still. This series has a lot of quite powerful relationships between people that run the gamut of tropes and a few extra sprinkled in.

Stage Show: In many ways the tv show plays out and feels a lot more like a stage production. Considering a lot of the actors also did a lot of stage work, this makes sense. Sci-fi as an art choice and not a crutch: Star Trek has the whole hopeful future sci-fi thing going for it, where the point of the setting is to remove the characters from us, so they can examine cultures relevant to the viewer at a removed step. Star Wars uses it's sci-fi setting as a way to make it Totally And Meaningfully Distinct From Dirty Fantasy Movies, and almost seems embarrassed by it's sci-fi parts sometimes. B5 rides the line between them. There is very little techno-babble in the show. But the aliens feel really alien in a way that almost every other sci-fi property misses. And while, yes you could easily make it a fantasy age of sail story by making remarkably few changes, it still works as it's own thing. Still tackles real life: There are things that are so relevant today that people are still referencing the show to events that happen now. It's a very strange dichotomy where the show looks so 90s, in it's set design and it's CGI, it just screams "Dated tv show". But the content itself is timeless. Anyway I hope you find the show as compelling as I still do, or at the very least it fills some time while we wait for S3 of WoT show. Not a continuation but more a related thought/rant

Logan isn’t the mom of the group (even though I love those jokes), he’s the elder daughter. Picking up the pieces that the parents drop, trying to be a third parent to the other kids to the point that being a sibling and an equal feeling foreign. Tired and resentful of the parents who don’t step up the way they should and at the siblings for getting a chance to be kids when they didn’t. That rage and sadness in knowing that you shouldn’t have to do this and the bitter loneliness of being an outsider in your own home.

Logan is more accepting of the “dark” sides because they are equals that feel like equals, they haven’t expected things of him and accept him as he is. Like finding friends, people who don’t know you as the “responsible young lady” and treat you like a fellow teen.

Tbh I'm so happy Nolan is retired, TBIs are nothing to fuck around about and I was already worried that he wouldn't be able to live a normal life and work anymore with what he's gone through.

Like man took 3 dangerous hits back to back in 3 back to back games in like 2018 (head to boards, shoulder to head and puck to head). Plus chronic migraine and other hits, the fact he's still able to function is incredible.

I know it sucks he's retired, but I think this is for the best, another hit and that could be it.

Yeah I fully agree! Head injuries aren’t a joke, even just going through one of them seems scary, so I cant imagine having to deal with multiple.

Him being retired was not some blind side hit (no pun intended 💀) I think we all knew before it was even said. Tho seeing it basically made official now cause his own friend/him said it, it’s like OH.

I also have a bunch of respect for him in making that big tough decision on fully just leaving, cause you have athletes out there that fully ignore health precautions n medical experts to risk there lives to just play the sport they love.
