the level of just... I don't want to be rude, but stupidity that just consumes this whole idea, I don't even know where to fucking start.

like what? what is this? some random person on the internet in the 20th century being a bastard is vastly different than 3 princes of the realm, son's of the heir, from a fantasy show/universe that can't be compared on a timeline, since its y'know, fictional and takes place in a fictional timeline, but most things point it being vaguely 12th century based. its not some fucking gotcha, like yup a lot of people nowadays are born out of wedlock, myself included, that totally nullifies any and all consequences of being a royal bastard at a time when being a bastard was literally a death sentence...

like what else should I say? this is just so nonsensical, I can't even come up with a response.

it's really tiring seeing TB fans strip the context and nuance from literally every scenario ever. like it was never really about them being bastards, it was about them being bastard prince's, that were still being pushed as legitimate heirs to not one, but two thrones, and were an active threats to multiple children (Alicent's children. Baela and Rhaena, cause if they hadn't been betrothed to Jace and Luke, which is a death sentence in its own right, would have to be taken out of the picture to secure the boy's reigns. their own legitimate siblings.), and the fact that its literal treason committed by the heir to the throne, who then did whatever it took to defend her lies, no matter who it hurt... like yes, people were mad that they were the bastard, but it was definitely influenced by all of the context surrounding it.

then there's the comments, which... jesus... these are my favs (warning, they're somehow more nonsensical):

so first off, we have this one, which, the logic is so far out the window I don't even think any amount of logical response can touch it. bastards are, by definition "a child born to parents who are not married to each other" which doesn't describe Alicent's children at all. just because they don't meet your weird, blood purity, eugenics type bullshit standards, doesn't make them bastards, it just makes you dense.

and then there's this one. just because it wasn't shoved down your throat so hard you can't even attempt to refute it, like it was in the show, in the books, doesn't mean it wasn't there, and doesn't mean its not true, your head just permanently takes residence in your ass. they were most definitely bastards in the books, they just showed it instead of told it, unlike the show that told you outright that they were.

I just want one day where TikTok doesn't give me a stroke, cause this damn near put me over the edge.

I want to join the fandom discourse a little bit, @st-eve-barnes inspired me huh. Sooo... In my blog, I try to avoid drama as much as possible - I quite rarely talk about the blacks in general, never discuss TB blogs and don't argue with their authors. The description of my blog clearly states what it's dedicated to and I put the right tags under the posts. My main goal is to create a cozy and safe space for people who read me, who love the same characters as me and agree with my opinion. However, even this doesn't save my blog - I regularly receive hate asks, TB fans who want to argue come in comments, my posts are often discussed in TB blogs, usually with insults. I really don't understand what these people's problem is - obviously they take this fandom VERY seriously. They don't understand the difference between characters and real people, and that scares me. If you're ready to bully a real person because of their taste for those who don't even exist, it's scary. Touch the grass.

I'm so disappointed with this show, I hated what they've been doing since atrocious b&c portrayal in e1, but this last episode (the leak) made me sick. Seriously, I don't understand how they managed to fumble this story so badly. And Aemond. He was one of the most popular characters after s1 with a good backstory and they should have just continued with it. The fact that even many TB fans liked him or found him interesting confirms this. But apparently Condal hated him so much and wanted to ruin him. He had so little screentime, they abandoned his character development and just decided to make him a one dimensional villain. However, I still understand him and won't bash him because I really dislike when the authors (and the narrative itself) are forcing me to hate a certain character. Also, I feel the same like with Daenerys after s8e4, he is basically all alone now, his mother betrayed him and revealed his war plans to the enemy, his sister tells him he'll die... It's just horrible. I hate those writers and what they did to the characters I loved.

Aemond was the only one I like of TG, I'm team black till the end so yeah I can confirm this! (don't get me wrong, I think all the ACTORS are incredible and are doing amazing, its the characters I don't like)

I said it recently, and I will say it again, I was team Mom's boy Aemond, I loved the relationship they had, specially when portrayed in S1E9, when he comforts her, and placed himself at her disposal... the way he held her... I was like damn Alicent, you might have showed disgusting favoritism, but at least, after everything and the horrible marriage with that walking corpse AT LEAST she has Aemond to show for it, despite all his flaws I thought he was going to be like a rabid dog in service of his family, because that is all he cares about... after the neglect from Viserys and his favoritism for Rhaenyra, he was going to be like... alright then... my FULL siblings and my mom, that's all I got... and that was burst into flames, for what?

He turned into a true villain, and not even a good one... like I get it, you want to be King, but at last, since Aegon didn't, they could have come to some sort of arrangement, right? do something better than what they did, I know they have a few minutes with each, but... dude..

he was such an interesting character... and they blew it up, i thought he at least was going to have... something... that was sacred to him, Helaena or his mother AT LEAST.... something! but he not even caring that his BABY NEPHEW lost his head because of him? it's insane, we all love a good villain with something... sacred to him, right??

And Aemond is only one of the many victims of this bananadnesss

And I don't like what they did with Rhaenyra either, I was so much more into that spoiled, darkish, tortured by her stepmother woman fromt he books, and she is too good, I think the writters got scared because of Dany, thought we wouldn't become Rhaenyra's apologists (they were wrong) hehehe

Anyways... LONG LIVE FANFICTION! we will keep them alive! as the show is assasinatings all of their characters! jejeje

None, or almost none of the green fans thinks Aegon is a good person/man. An interesting, deep character - yes, but not a good person/man.

At the same time (if we are talking about the series), after the scene from the second season where Daemon scares Rhaenyra, TB fans yell that he would NEVER, although literally all his behavior in the first season led to this. I don't know, if Aegon rapes Dyana again in the second season, I'll say - well, yes, he's done it before, why should he stop?

That's the difference.

Show me one (in words: one) post in which someone with TB says that Daemon is a good person. By using words that clearly indicate a good person, not terms that suggest morally gray. Because I see something like this: "None, or almost none of the black fans thinks Daemon is a good person/man. An interesting, deep character - yes, but not a good person/man."

And yet I see people saying that Daemon's behavior in the book does not in any way suggest aggressive behavior towards his wife (any of them), and not the show, because we know that the show is a fan fic that butchered the likeable morally gray character of Daemon from F&B.

And yes, Aegon's fans don't come up with stupid excuses to justify his bad behavior at all. At all. Nope. No "the maid is a thing, so he didn't rape her" or "no penetration is shown, so he didn't rape her". This does not serve to deny the character of the character and make him look better than he actually is…

Monty Python and the Holy Grail [<- IA] (dir. Terry Jones & Terry Gilliam) - Monty Python's goofy take on Arthurian Legends. really fun to watch while high.

Mortal Kombat [<- Tubi] (dir. Paul W. S. Anderson) - is this movie good? absolutley not. but i have a fun time watching it.

My Cousin Vinny [<- Tubi] (dir. Jonathan Lynn) - two young adults get accused of armed robbery and get the help from a lawyer in the family who is. well. joe pesci.

Clueless (dir. Amy Heckerling) - basically the same plot as Jane Austen's novel Emma, except they're high schoolers in America.

The Addams Familiy & The Addams Family Values (both dir. Barry Sonnenfeld) - live action Addams Family films from the 90s are a classic to me. i also recommend the tv show from the 60s.

A Night at the Opera (dir. Sam Wood, Edmund Goulding) and Duck Soup [<- IA] (Leo McCarey) - they're Marx Bros films so they're silly as all get out.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams - very silly sci-fi story about a human who winds up saved from Earth's destruction because his best friend is an alien. And he didn't know.

Mort by Terry Pratchett - a kid who isn't really good at anything gets taken on by Death as an apprentice. Discworld book but you don't have to know anything about the world to read it.

if you're okay with kid's lit, i was a big fan of the Bunnicula books as a kid (family cat thinks family rabbit is a vampire) and have been meaning to reread them.

the original Spyro or the Spyro Reignited trilogy - very comforting series to me

there's  just  something  about  actresses/actors  being  very  passionate  about  and  genuinely  loving  roles  involving  classic  characters  that  makes  me  trust  them  more  to  play  that  role?  like  ari@na  very  clearly  adoring  the  oz  universe  and  finding  comfort  in  it  since  her  childhood,  tweeting  as  clear  back  as  2011  about  how  badly  she  wanted  to  play  glinda,  auditioning  for  the  movie  five  times,  saying  “i'm  going  to  take  such  good  care  of  her"  or  like  h@lle  bail/ey  wearing  out  her  family's  vhs  tape  of  the  little  mermaid  because  she  watched  it  over  and  over  &  pretending  to  be  ariel  when  she  went  swimming  while  she  was  growing  up  and  being  overall  positive  about  the  character  of  ariel. 

i  just  feel  like  when  there's  genuine  love  and  excitement  and  even  a  sense  of  them  feeling  honored  to  carry  on  a  legacy  in  a  way  —  it  makes  me  feel  like  that  character  is  in  good  hands?  now  at  least  one  instance  where  this  wasn't  the  case  was  with  b&tb  (  2017  )  bc  from  what  i  remember  emma  was  a  fan  of  belle  and  had  good  things  to  say  about  the  original  but  i'm  not  really  a  fan  of  her  portrayal  of  the  character.  so  i  know  someone  liking  or  even  loving  a  character  doesn't  guarantee  that  they  will  play  them  well  but  i  feel  like  most  of  the  time  they  do.  it  certainly  makes  me  feel  more  willing  to  give  them  a  chance.

r/achel's  comments  about  snow  white  suggest  that  she  has  no  love  for  the  character  or  film  (  “I  was  scared  of  the  original  version.  I  think  I  watched  it  once  and  never  picked  it  up  again.  I’m  being  so  serious”  ,  “We  absolutely  wrote  a  Snow  White  that...  she’s  not  going  to  be  saved  by  the  prince,  and  she’s  not  going  to  be  dreaming  about  true  love."  )  i  just  wish  they'd  gotten  someone  who  loves  snow  white  &  not  only  admires  her  soft/caring  personality  but  also  sees  she  has  a  sassy  side?  someone  who  sees  her  resilience?  who  doesn't  just  see  her  as  anti-feminist  caricature  to  be  “fixed”  or  completely  changed  to  fit  modern  day  feminist  ideals.

it's  just  weird  to  me  that  people  still  push  the  narrative  that  female  characters  need  to  always  be  these  tough  as  nails,  no  nonsense,  boss  babes  like  i  enjoy  those  characters  too  but  it's  not  anti-feminist  to  have  female  characters  who  are  “softer”  in  personality  and  who  yearn  for  things  like  romance.  like  meg  said  in  little  women  —  “just  because  my  dreams  are  different  than  yours  doesn't  mean  they're  unimportant”

Ok there’s a lot to unpack about the new recent TPOT episode, so hold on tight!

Pillow was absolutely batshit this episode and I loved it. Despite this however, I think she should be eliminated. It’s clear she has a ton of power over her teammates, and I feel like the others deserve a lot better. Honestly, Just Not is my favorite team in not just The Power Of Two, but in all of Battle For Dream Island history! I really didn’t want any of them to leave, until now where I think Pillow needs to hit the bench and think about her actions. Maybe even get scolded by Pie idk.

Now let’s see, who did I want out this episode? No one, as it was a shame to see Puffball get out since Are You Okay is like, a really great team! But in TPOT 5, I really wanted to see Golf Ball get out. I’m glad she didn’t though! She seems to be getting better and the writers are starting to redeem Tengolf! Tbh I was never a fan of that ship, ever in my 4 years of watching BFDI. But TPOT really do damage to their friendship. I wish they continue acting like this in future episodes and hopefully fully recover their friendship! Cause if not, then, oh well… At least TB has Pen, Eraser, and TV! (Idk about Golf Ball though)

Ok now back to batshit characters. YELLOW FACE!! /POS OMG THANK YOU FOR NOT BEING PURE EVIL!! I loved Yellow Face when he was morally grey. TPOT 8 really rubbed me off the wrong way, I was really scared he’d turn into a complete villain. So, so glad they did not go that route. Even if they did, that’d suck but Yellow Face will NEVER be worse than Purple Face. (As a Purple lover we don’t like that mf)

I agree with the previous anon and your answer, it's so annoying to watch the promos, interviews and so on and being disappointed and even worried because of the things they hint at. It seems that they will completely destroy the family dynamics of the greens and while they are far from a perfect family and have many problematic aspects, the writers will go too far if they simply oppose Alicent to her sons, create unnecessary feud between Aegond during the war and by making Helaena being ignored by everyone. So there is only hate, envy, betrayal and lack of understanding between them, huh. Where is Jace vs Daemon feud, or Rhaenyra vs Baela and Rhaena? Not to mention Rhaenys.

We have to wait and see I guess, but if half of these actual theories concerning the greens turn out to be true, then what do you think that Condal talked about when he said that many people will change sides in s2?? Many of us assumed that he was referring to TB losing some support in the fandom because of B&C, but now it seems that what he actually meant was: the green fandom will become even smaller." And it sucks.

i'm not sure what ryan meant. i did see people get more comfortable with the green kids and seen maybe a bit more pro green voices but whatever i saw is insignificant in comparison to tb, which is the majority.

i think condal has this idea that the way he wrote alicent makes her more sympathetic to the viewers and i've seen some share his sentiment and call book alicent a villain but i think it's just another way of saying ambitious women who do what many favorite male characters do are evil and unrealstic and far more easier to hate.

i think he also probably thinks b&c will turn people off but let me be doubtful. first... daemon stans still love daemon despite everything he already did and b&c is a daemon thing, rhaenyra won't be involved in planning it so it's not even gonna be seen as a tb thing. furthermore if they'll make b&c a failed kidnapping even that's gonna soften daemon more than the book version.

so the majority of the people are obviously tb and i think this will strengthen despite the clip coming out of daemon scaring rhaenyra because at the end of the day tb fans are for rhaenyra so daemon can easily be set aside in their minds, if that make sense.

i don't think anyone will switch sides in season 2. i think the time for switching was last season while we were supposed to see what led to alicent making her choices (and we saw most of it up to episode 7). but since they took her motivation and turned into 'she heard a dying man babble something about aegon and so she crowned aegon' to such a degree that even beesbury was like 'stop playing around' then of course... who can switch sides based on that if everything that is happening is taken as 'alicent misheard viserys' and she has no actual real motivation anymore for either his crowning or standing by his side. everyone will just be like 'awww all of this is happening because she was foolish when she heard viserys' so there is no reason for anyone to switch because the story is fully telling you what is 'right' and what is 'wrong'.

show!alicent is a character whose entire arc was constructed on who show!rhaenyra needed her to be. there's nothing more to be said about it.

I still don't know Madoka, never watched the series, so -3-;

That also means that I'll pull up all kinds of random bullshit and see if I hit the mark. :'3

I put a cut, because my explanation here will have gore and your typical 'who let op with the angst' decisions. :v

Since witches look so horrific, I imagine that's actually a corpse of a magical girl, consumed to the point their body cannot withstand it and thus it gets ripped apart from inside and turned into well... That... There's no more consciousness, only power latched to some ugly desire that puppeters a rotting flesh imbedded with magic. :v

This is important, because it's different from how overblots act. In overBlot, magical energy acts from outside in matters of turning the victim(ex: drowning in ink when it's too late and leaving only the Phanthom), although the trigger comes from the inside. With magical girls, it's the opposite. The soul gem is the triggering factor from outside the body and the product transformation comes from the inside, hence the body cannot handle it and it straight up dies, the corpse's physical presence being the budding grounds for the witch and the resulting chaos from within.

And here's where our plot comes: In here, due to mages manifesting magic on the inside and thus they have a way to preserve themselves in case of becoming a witch, Kyubey handles ONLY magicless people. In twst it is stated that mages are rare. We can say approx a 1 in 10000 even. Compared to the vast world, that is very, VERY little for a number. Plus, it wasn't really known what would even happen with a mage's magic when it contacts the soul gem.

So how did Ortho gain his status? Why did he get a chance for a wish?

Kyubey was fricking bored. That's it.

I know I have 0 on hand experience with that lil fucker, BUT! I know damn well that everyone hates it. So, I imagine that this lil mf has sum brattiness added to the package. :v

So... Whose a better candidate than the kid who literally falls into goddamn tartarus. All alone, wounded and scared?

Ortho, naturally being almost dead, scared and a 5 years old to boot, doesn't think twice for his wish. He wishes to see again his big brother, his mama and Papa. He wants to survive this thing so he could go back to his family.

Thus his magic reacts upon receiving his soul gem. In a way of protecting Ortho, the soul gem becomes hard to access. It's hard to use it at first and, naturally, Kyubey is not really pleased with the unnaturally slow progress Ortho makes towards his end. His magic, just how it purifies blot, also cleans his soul gem. True, when battling, one could say he's almost on the verge of becoming a witch, but it all reverts to 0 once he gets a few good hours of sleep. It goes back extremely fast due to the Shroud curse too. It was the actual mantle that protected Ortho in here.

Because, logically speaking, a mage's magic may reject at first the soul gem. But once it's accepted, they are much closer to becoming a witch than a magicless human. It takes them to become a witch half of the time and effort of a magicless person for reference, due to blot also feeding into it. :v

And from there on, in terms of main story, it is affected. Ortho is still going in a 2 parter with Idia. The reason is because Idia is the support that always saves Ortho in battle. He aids in any way he can and by that, Ortho avoids crossing the line.

And both try to find, through NRC, a way of trying to break this contract. Idia truly believes that there is a way to save Ortho. And the latter also believes it too.

But obs happen.

In here, Ortho tags along Yuu and Co, because he deems them curious. He thinks that, maybe, Yuu's wierd circumstances could have a small inkling of knowledge over how to break his contract. Because Yuu's presence is an error in itself, Ortho tries to stick around as see how this error is affected, he wants to see what symptoms he could look for, in order to create a loophole, just how Yuu accidentally did.

But, with each overBlot and each close call, Ortho slowly comes to the grim realisation. He was doomed the second he accepted the deal. And now, instead, will only serve to create more problems than if he simply accepted his fate. He was stubborn and that had a price.

Sure, the overBlots are now much easier to deal with, but Ortho was a passive influence. More often than not, he was the voice of reason, but never acting out. He doesn't actively stop the group from doing dumb shit. He just gives his piece of mind. He acts only when things gets violent and too much to handle.

So when Idia, overcomed by guilt and desperation, reaches overBlot, it was a sign. Shrouds were almost impossible to overBlot. And Ortho knows damn well that he was the motive behind it. Not the stress of the problematic kids in STIX, not the school problems, nothing of sorts.

Ortho makes his sacrifice, begging for the overBlot Idia to end him rather than both of them finding out what happens when a mage-magical girl becomes a witch. But, because he was killed when he was a magical girl, his soul gem remains at Idia. It cannot be activated and it's all stained in blot and negative energy(dunno, probably I'm off on this one), simply a reminder of what could've been. Of how worse things could've gotten.

But it still hurts Idia. He still mourns with his parents the loss of their youngest.

That's why, post the STIX incident, Idia returns a bit later. He's all alone, silent and the ones who knew what happened could only indulge in his wish to be left alone. Thus no meeting at Ramshackle to play games. :'3

And, due to this deplorable state, Idia still clings to the said soul gem of his little brother. He initially was thankful for it, but now he curses that thing more than anything.

Ironically, Kyubey tries to approach Idia on the matter. Offering as a wish the means of reviving Ortho. The power to fix this mistake.

Idia was Kyubey's target all along. Ortho was the means of getting to it. Idia was stubborn and he would run himself dry very quick. Thus he was the perfect testing specimen, now that he knew the basic ins and outs of magical girls. He was mature, with little error margin and his magic was much more refined rather than Ortho's still developing one.

Unfortunately, for our lil mf here... The soul gem reacts against it. Since Ortho died without turning into a witch, it is no surprise that his soul is still undefeated. Unfortunately, due to his magic tying up to the soul gem, he's trapped by it. He is depending on the integrity of the stained gem. But that doesn't mean that he will let Kyubey to take advantage of his brother. 1 Shroud was one too many, u lil shit. >:v

Still, being a weak soul, Ortho cannot really hold onto it much. He had little time before he would dissappear in the relam of the dead. So he asks of Idia to fulfill his final wish. When he asked to be killed, Ortho insisted on 1 thing: for his family to accept him gone. He wants both his parents and Idia to accept that he's dead. That's how he was supposed to be years ago, but due to him refusing to accept he reached in a worse state. Thus, he wishes to fix his mistake, by trying to absolve the rest of his family from the burden of denial and mourning.

So, Idia is left alone, to try his best to move on and also help his parents with it. This was his brother's wish and he will have to make up to him by fulfilling it. Not Kyubey, not anyone else, but Idia himself.

a review of the cpc book :)

saturday march 18th. I FINALLY GET A COPY OF THE CPC BOOK AT BARNES AND NOBLES. super super happy to have it on my shelf!! during my venture towards in the bookshop i was struggling to find it- so i'm in the graphic novel section right. and i figured it would be near this area where they have some other webtoon books like lore olympus or true beauty (also saw a woman world book out there!! was happy to see it:), along with some marvel comics. i searched for a while before i suck it up and just asked customer services to find a Webtoon Book and it took me longer to do this than i'd like to admit (musicitself can confirm). and in the end it wasnt at the lo or tb area, it was NEAR THE QUEER SECTION. RIGHT NEXT TO HEARTSTOPPER. and i love cpc for being there instead of where the other webtoons are,, that says something about cpc. while i asked about the book i heard one of the workers say "oh that one's pretty popular" which made me go !!!!. so glad to know we are winning

the book itself!! it's really neat to see cpc formatted like a comic book, and the redrawn panels look great! seeing old scenes in the newer artstyle really gives you a sense of how everyone's changed and developed. one extremely important screen to book change also:

ABBI'S JACKET IS THE PAN FLAG!! it used to be solid black, but this change suits her really well and she totally rocks it!! maria's eyes are also greener in the book, as they were more teal in the webcomic.

we also get insane anime character angle from frederick lmao

his expression game is always on point and i love how the new artstyle gets to highlight that more. the 4k artist profile lambcat uses of themselves scares me also, it's like normal lambcat but WAY more detailed. overall, cpc fans i'd totally recommend the book if you're thinking of getting one! i'm getting the next one for sure i cannot wait for when that comes out. also find it kinda ironic that true beauty the hit webtoon is advertised in the book and the end of the book has an ad for the next one saying "You too can learn to become as pretty as a cursed princess!", like i can kinda see what they were going for?? but uh. prez would not advertise like that lmao

Do you think that alicent rhaenyra and haelena suffer from mental health?

Alicent is most certainly mentally ill from the moment she is married off to viserys, while I think Helaena is neurodivergent, not necessarily mentally ill until after Blood and Cheese. Rhaenyra is more complicated, I think there were times she was faced with mental illness, I think there also times she was not and that these times were greater. (this is all within the show, I'm not sure about the books)

Alicent was being raped and forced to bear children from a very young age, that is so much pain and suffering, so much trauma to go through. from a young age she is shown to have a lot of signs of ptsd, anxiety, ppd (postpartum depression) especially after Helaena is born, it seems, and depression. there are few moments she seems truly happy and at ease, constantly worn by stress. I don't think she ever recovered from those early years, and she remains mentally ill until the end, where it festers in the aftermath of the end of the war, and she dies of insanity.

Helaena definitely came off as autistic to me, even in her little screen time. I won't discredit the possible trauma of her father's neglect or being married off to Aegon (though there is no proof he is abusive or forceful upon her, she was married off to someone some could say she did not love and did not love her), she seems mostly unaffected by this. I think her mental illness will come into play after B&C and the loss of her children.

Rhaenyra is the most complicated to me. we don't really see the aftermath of her births, so I can't say if she experienced any ppd/ppp, she might have, she might not have. she lived a relatively easy life outside of her mother's death, which did seem to cause some depression while she was young, but she seemed to move on from that in time. she does seem to have some depression and anxiety during her time at the keep, the stress weighing on her, but it never seemed to be as constant or heavy as Alicents (not to downplay, just to give a comparison). after the loss of her daughter is would be beyond cruel to deny that she would sink into a depression. she miscarried horribly essentially alone to a deformed stillborn little girl. miscarrying on it own is horrific and traumatizing, but the circumstances make it even more horrific. so while there are instances she shows signs of mental health issues, I don't believe she was wholly afflicted until after she lost Visenya.

this just my opinion on the matter, and I will give Rhaenyra credit by saying she was definitely very good at keeping up her wits and appearances, so finding moments of "weakness" or mental illness are definitely harder to spot, especially when the show tends to shy away from showing her low points and panders to her moments of strength.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Fred Seibert and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Fred, what was your thought process behind starting your own business? Hah! None. At least, not consciously. I wanted to make records and didn’t know how (or was scared) to contact “real” record companies. So my buddies and I started Oblivion Records ( http://bit.ly/3FlrFFm )

Working in the corporate gold mines of commercial radio and then as a co-founder of MTV wore me down. I went back in the grind to resurrect the famous Hanna-Barbera Cartoons studio when Ted Turner bought it. When he decided to sell his entire company (CNN, TBS, TNT, Cartoon Network) to Time Warner, I figured that five years of working for a lunatic, brilliant entrepreneur was good enough, so I started Frederator, my own cartoon studio. I stupidly went back to the salt mines of MTV to run their online businesses, quit after a year (I was a really bad employee) and add an online video component to Frederator.

Channel Frederator did so well that venture capital approached us and with a few co-founders I put together Next New Networks, the company that, for better or worse, started the multi-channel networks (MCN) on YouTube. Who could resist free (sure!) money? YouTube bought our company.

20 years in Frederator went through a number of changes, a lot of hits, online and in traditional media, and ended up as a small public company.

Yuck. I quit and started FredFilms in Los Angeles.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally? I come from a family of scientists and decided at six that I’d be a chemist. After a school life as a math/science kid I went to college to study chemistry. A few weeks in I turned to my Zoology lab mate. “I like the Beatles more than this,” and marched into my college radio station and never left. No surprise, I never graduated.

After a lifetime of playing music I went to the other side of the glass in a recording studio to produce records (records and pop music were the lingua franca of my generation). After spending years figuring it out, a wise, famous recording engineer pointed out to me that staying focused on talent was a super power. That’s what I’ve done for 50 years.

Whether it’s in music, television, cartoons or technology, I’ve staying focused on identifying superior, ambitious and friendly talent.

I continue to be a fan, a professional fan, who tries to help that talent.

You've watched tbs&tdh?! Yay! What's your favourite part, what would you change, and do you have any headcanons for the characters' future? 👀

hi babe! Yes i did--and I wouldn't have if it wasn't for you posting it, so thank you for that! The book series it was based on looked terrible, tbh, so i was surprised by how good the show looked in the gifs you were posting. I really enjoyed it!

I think the best parts of the show were a) the cast. The main three have great chemistry and the lead is charismatic enough to pull off being a tragic chosen one without being a drag, which is hard to find in ya! I also think it was a good decision to cast a black lead. I know opinions and execution varies on this, but I tend to prefer a racial allegory in fiction to be backed up by actually casting a non-white actor in the role. Even though this casting isn't strict throughout the show (its not like all blood witches are black and all fairborns are white), having him be the biracial child of a black father felt like a deliberate choice on the part of the showmakers, not something incidental or shoehorned in.

Love a fantasy road trip. Not much else to say there, just a personal fave of mine <3

The other big thing I really liked about it was the unique style the show had! It felt distinct from other fantasy ya shows, from the costuming to the set design to the mundane, muddy, tramping through the woods scenes. And some of the magic was genuinely very creepy and unique--the scene with mercury possessing his grandmother in particular scared the crap out of me!

And lastly, I loved the decisions made with the relationships. I liked that each of the three central characters has their own arcs and their own relationships with each other--it made the group convincing and balanced. While I wouldn't really have minded a bisexual love triangle (as long as the girl doesn't get sidelined), I really enjoyed where they ended up as something pretty explicitly poly! I was surprised to see that play out so purposefully on screen--i guess id assumed it was mostly fan interpretation, but no, it really seems like what the showrunners were going for!

Now for the negatives lol. (And tbh im inclined to blame most of these on the book series.) Firstly, I think that the magic system is unclear. The idea that each person has a power, fine. But then some of those powers (like gabriels) seem to be just, can do witchcraft and potions? Okay. Also there's no clear distinction between what blood witches and fairborn witches can do. Which is fine if that's the point they're making thematically, but it really seems like there were supposed to be differences in abilities in these two different groups that are just... never shown clearly on screen?

My other criticism would be that I think they've written themselves into a conflict they can't write a satisfying solution to. Which is the problem with discrimination-based fictional conflict--there isn't an easy solution in real life, so it's hard to find one that's satisfying in fiction, unless you have plenty of time and very skilled writers. (Which, lets be real, most ya netflix shows do not have.)

Where would I want them to go from here? I'm rarely of this opinion, but honestly I think they'd be well within their rights to say fuck it, and hop a boat to america or something, leave this all behind. I think the most likely outcome is that they try to use their combined power to force a truce on the adults, initially fail because they're young and easily manipulated, but eventually gain something more equal and lasting. But what I would really enjoy seeing is them all, like, going to the beach. Waiting tables. Getting terrible hobbies. Continuing the fantasy roadtrip but, like, not dying this time. You know?

months later... I realize that could have fucking died by my brother if I didn't think fast and honestly it scares the living shit out of me. I was assaulted ( not sa) by my brother a few days before summer started and my final year of middle school was ending , I'm 13. this all went down over a phone around 8:30 in the afternoon, I was reading something and my brother asked for my phone and I said no due to him breaking my TB's (twin brother) phone over 10$. That's when shit hit the fan and in short, he beat the shit out of me to the point I felt pain in my head for 2 days ( I now have headaches more frequently ) I no longer have my phone (completely shattered, all of my art progress is gone from 2022 to then) A window got broken( he punched it in while trying to open the door trying get to me) and I feel guilty. idek why, hes in jail now and my mother said he feels guilty for doing what he did, he's 18-19 and she said that he will be sentenced to 2+ years for all I know but, this man was armed( he carries a gun everywhere) and probably drugged out ( he does drugs) and he killed people for fun( he bragged about it alot over the phone saying stuff like " so when we sliding") so if he could have went to far, I would maybe be in critical condition or maybe dead. if you want the full story im not to comfortable with sharing it, but ill try to get it out as soon as I get comfy enough to share it. thanks for reading this and taking the time out of your day/night .

P.s- I am not with my mother at the moment, I'm at my aunts house for the summer and I prob got mad trauma.
