30 years ago, you had 15-17 minutes to escape a house fire. Today, due to synthetic materials like plastics, petroleum-based products, and modern home designs with open floor plans and larger rooms, you only have 3-5 minutes.

Synthetic Leather Market Insights: From Material Science Innovations to Consumer Preferences
The global synthetic leather market is anticipated to reach USD 66.24 billion by 2030 and is projected to grow at a CAGR of 7.87% from 2024 to 2030, according to a new report by Grand View Research, Inc. Growing awareness among consumers regarding animal exploitation, aided by programs run by organizations such as PETA, has played a major role in increasing the demand for leather alternatives. The growing supply-demand gap in the natural leather industry is also a major factor responsible for manufacturers opting for synthetic or artificial leather.
Furthermore, natural leather is obtained from animals, which has resulted in animal killings. There have been various guidelines and laws established by various countries to protect animal rights. Animal rights laws have become a major hurdle for natural leather manufacturers in several countries.
Synthetic Leather Market Report Highlights
The automotive application segment is anticipated to grow at a CAGR of 8.9% over the forecast period. Synthetic leather is used in several automotive applications such as upholstery, dashboards, headliners, seat belts, airbags, and floor & trunk carpets. It is employed in passenger vehicles, light & commercial vehicles, heavy trucks, and buses & coaches as it is lighter than real leather. Its high elasticity enables passenger comfort in addition to providing resistance against hot & cold temperatures and spillage. The product also increases the durability of automotive interiors and reduces maintenance requirements
The PU synthetic leather segment held the largest market share of 60.8% in 2023. PU leather has good elasticity, resistance to solvents, high tensile strength, and skin abrasion resistance. These properties have been a major help in increasing its market penetration in the automotive, footwear, and furnishing sectors
Asia Pacific dominated the synthetic leather market. China is the largest market for synthetic leather in Asia Pacific. It is also among the major consumers of leather in primary application segments such as automotive, furnishing, and clothing. Automotive and footwear industry, which are vital application segments for synthetic leather, are witnessing a rapid growth in the country. China mainly imports synthetic leather from India, Korea, and Italy
In December 2021, Dow, a U.S.-based company, announced the launch of LUXSENSE, a silicone synthetic leather. It is the world's first high-end silicone synthetic leather material designed to meet specifications in furniture, wearable devices, fashion, transportation seating and interiors, and consumer electronics, offering unique features

Manufacturing activities of natural leather, especially tanning, lead to pollution of the nearby surroundings. This is another major reason leading to the shift in preference toward synthetic leather. Stringent environmental laws and government regulations have been influential in promoting the demand for synthetic leather.
India is among the world’s top five producers of leather. However, the Central government of India has banned the slaughter of cows for meat and leather, which has adversely affected the leather industry in the country. Most of India’s leather and meat industry comprises unorganized players, owing to which a reduction in the annual production from these industries is not feasible to estimate. The market situation has widened the demand-supply gap of genuine leather, which is expected to supplement the India PU market’s growth over the forecast period.

Sustainability Awareness- Synthetic Fibers- Nisha Designs
All these are manmade Synthetic Fibers made from petroleum through fracking, mining, fossil fuels practices that are harming our environment. When you wear these materials on you, buy them and have them in your home, hotel, restaurants, office, food packaging, bottles, clothing, on your furniture, drapery, cushions, bed you sleep on etc you are literally breathing toxic chemicals. And the thing…

Hi! So me & my friend (just recently found out abt ur au, love it btw!) were arguing if the mermaids could wear shirts or anything like that; my friend who we'll call... Jackie, thinks certain or all fabrics would hurt/scratch their skin or just uncomfortable. I think they'd be mostly fine, just the matter if they'd ever want to or not. but I think its a bit bias bc I just really want to see mermaid giyuu in that one sweater of urokodaki's mask in an official art. Thanks!
So... the mermaids CAN wear clothing depending on their comfort level. It's just that it looks a little...
#public inquiries#giyuu tomioka#i'll be honest clothing was some of the first things i thought about#when designing the mermaids#and i decided they were all nude#except kanao and nezuko#they would need more synthetic material since cotton and wool would just bog them down#and they can't wear the material over their gills because the cloth will just suction to them when they inhale#also i'm sorry this became a point of argument between you and your friend jackie

Old followers will remember when one of my short vent post about hating the euphemistic way textiles that are essentially plastic are marketed and described, which included amongst others 'vegan leather', broke containment. And since then I have seen a lot of posts on tumblr by vegans dismissing people who have made such posts, stating that people only pretend to care about plastic pollution and its environmental impacts to shit on vegans. And I'm sure this criticism is fair for a lot of people who reblog the posts (I live in the world, I have to face how much people.... seemingly do not care), but why do they think that is the case for the OPs? Why would they be that pissed off if they didn't care about reducing plastic pollution in the first place???
My own post was the culmination of the fact that I had been redefining my relationship to plastic and waste more generally for years, and faced extreme frustration realising how inescapable plastic can be, how many names it can be found under, and how much switching to plastic has affected the quality and longevity of objects that have long been part of human life. As part of that process, I had decided to start learning how to mend my clothes with my late grandmother's sewing stash, which then led to me learning how to sew in an effort to recycle old clothes knowing they would otherwise end up in the landfill even if they were brought to a charity shop. Being self-taught, I had turned to youtube tutorials and videos by sewists.... but even then plastic was everywhere under these euphemism. Genuinely the thing that broke the camel's back wrt to that post was hearing 'synthetic whale bone' too many time while I was in a bad mood, where I ended up bitchily saying out loud 'fucking just plastic jesus christ'. After that I just listed other examples as part of the vent I thought would stay on this blog. I do hate the term 'vegan leather' but that has to do with the marketing aspect and the sort of 'green-washing' it implies, not its ties to people who are vegan. Honestly in comparison I dislike faux-fur more, because it looks like it was brought into existence for the sole purpose of shedding plastic everywhere.
#needed to get my frustration out lmao#i deleted the post so as to not see the notifications so I am enjoying ignoring what discourse might have been had#in the notes#also about the synthetic whale bone: as fare as I know there is at least metal options#and if you are into historical reproductions you can use other organic materials that people used before whale bones or when they couldn't#afford it#IN MY OPINION

truly the worst thing in the entire world is to be passionately into 1940s women's fashion, especially suiting and menswear-inspired looks, while allergic to wool
#AND I don't care for most synthetic materials so a lot of modern reproductions are right out as well#also they rarely come in big enough sizes#anyway yeah this is the worst indignity I face. don't look at the queerness or disability. this is actually worse.#life#AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON HATS

YOUR 🫵 ACETATE RIBBUN 💐 FIC ✍️ IS SUPER 👅🤟 FIRE 🔥 BUT TO ME 👆 THE ONLY CANON 📖 RIBBUN 🐰🎭IS DISCUSSIONS 🗣️ ABOUT COMPOST ♻️
Bro you don’t know what you’ve done for me by sending this ask:
I can finally mention that “acetate” is a compound used to make textiles but is an alternative to fully synthetic-made textiles as it is a mix of natural and synthetic materials.
So acetate fabric is a bit more biodegradable than other synthetic textiles MEANING ITS COMPOSTABLE!!!
AND THATS WHY I MADE IT THE TITLE!!!!
PERHAPS IT IS A LITTLE ABOUT COMPOST AFTER ALL.
#acetate ribbon#I had debated on calling it silk ribbon but I think the idea of Gangle being partly synthetic material#speaks more about the digital circus being fake etc but also still having natural materials in her ribbons#cause she is after all still a complex human#and I’m a sucker for compostable material and as you can see…#it doesn’t degrade as quick as natural materials but it’s seen as better than plastic sitting in the soil for hundreds of years#and so uhh yeah my joke is that as well that as a possible farm boy his preferred ribbon is a little compostable

Do you think Dungeon Meshi style golems would be possible at Castle of Nations
#soil is made of a mixture of inorganic and organic material#i really want to know what kind of cloth the climber is made out of because i think that would answer some of my questions#in a universe where karl gets turned into a human he dies within a matter of hours#does this rule apply to humans/other animals or to anything that's 'alive' (i.e. cotton works because it's no longer alive)#or does it apply to any organic materials. and the climber is made of polyester in addition to the synthetic foam he's stuffed with#castle of nations

So I'm spiritual and been fascinated by this set of beliefs for a long time. I picked up a book on auras and it mentions that synthetic clothes are bad for your aura and all natural fibers are better. I'm not going to deny possible better ecological effects as I know nothing about that however I am curious how it could be dampening to the aura. the aura is an energy field you produce, and polyester is carbon and hydrogen atoms. Charcoal is used in rituals, is it the carbon that's the issue? Water is used in other rituals and we are also largely made of water. Ofc the behavior of the elements does change depending on what it's bonded to but I don't see how it would cause issues. Is it due to it being man made? Tarot cards are. Cotton is also largely carbon as it's a plant material. If anyone could explain I would appreciate it.
